I have mixed feelings about this company. While I believe the work that was performed was high quality and for a very reasonable price, I did experience some frustration with the process. I feel there could have been better communication and responsiveness. We had discussed prior to the work being performed that I may want heater wire around the underground drain pipe to prevent potential freezing during the winter. When Michael finally scheduled the date to come onsite I forgot to remind him of this so when he showed up he didn't have the heater wire to install. He did make an effort to locate some and since he couldn't get any right away, he tried to set up a way to run the heater wire through after the drain pipe was installed and buried. Since it was still spring we wouldn't need to worry about potential freezing for several more months. However, I made several attempts to contact Michael to find out where the plug would be located when the heater wire gets installed so I could have an exterior electrical outlet installed in the appropriate location. He never returned my emails and I finally gave up. I have since moved and I truly hope the new owners don't have issues with the new drain pipe freezing/clogging. As for the other drainage correction that was done (grading, polysheeting, mulch, borders, etc.) it has done the trick and I did not get anymore water in my basement after the work was completed and could finally sleep soundly when it would rain knowing the basement would stay dry.
Description of Work: Drainage correction work, including underground drain pipe and attaching two downspouts to the drainpipe, installed polysheeting along the back of the house and around window wells and graded away from the house, installed mulch and landscape edging around entire perimeter of the house.

This customer had me out several time, kept scaling down the quote. I put up with it. Did a great job, as she states. The heating wire is not a benefit for this type of work. I did state outlets will be located as close to the drain pipe / downspouts as possible. thanks,

Michael was attentive and professional. His price was very reasonable compared to other bids we received. He provided references without our request. We actually checked out the references and received positive experiences from prior clients. The pavers look great!
Description of Work: Installed approximately 200 square feet of pavers for 10 ft. x 10 ft. patio and replaced concrete patio.

From start to finish it took a little over 2 days and the results were beautiful! He was very punctual, knowledgeable and skilled. We will absolutely use his company again.
Description of Work: Michael installed approx 288 sq feet of pavers in our back yard. He also connected flexible piping to our gutter downspout and ran it beneath the pavers, taking rain water out beyond the edge of the patio thus preventing water pooling on the patio. We have a limited space (approx 4 feet, maybe less) between our house and garage for contractors to manouver equipment through. Michael has a smaller excavator so they were able to bring it into our back yard without any issues or additional cost.

Everything went very well. Michael is a true professional who gives good advice and then does very skillful work. All the landscaping looks very attractive, and it certainly improved the look of the house. I could not evaluate how well the drain tile work until it rained, but the next week we had a major rain storm. My basement was completely dry, so I am very pleased with the drain tile work, too. This is the second time I used this company. I would recommend them highly for knowledge, skill, and cost.
Description of Work: I had hired this company to do some exterior drain tile on two sides of the house earlier this summer, with very positive results. Then I asked them to come back to do some major landscaping in the front of the house, remove some bushes, transplant, do additional drain tile work, edge the garden area with pavers, trim a tree and do some other odds and ends.

Michael is a true professional. He knows what he is doing, and why. He was very careful around parts of the lawn that were not affected by the project, and his crew was very disciplined and knowledgeable. Very satisfied; would recommend.

Michael corrected a drainage problem project that had been started and made worse by a contractor that I had to remove from the project. Michael understood what had been done wrong, corrected it, and then made additional corrections to ensure that water flowed away from the house instead of seeping into the basement. In addition, he did it in a highly professional way. The areas around the house were protected, and the parts that were fixed look wonderful. If there is such a thing as a drainage problem artist, Michael is it. He was very affordable, too. Highly recommended. PS. I waited to post until we had two heavy downpours. Thanks to his highly skilled work, there were no leaks in the basement after the job was completed.
Description of Work: Corrected a severe drainage problem that resulted in basement flooding with every rain.

Very well. Mike Phelps was very professional and had lots of ideas and previous experience on how to deal with the drainage issues we had with our back yard. We live in a newer neighborhood and our backyard had standing water in several areas. Mike recommended attacking the problem with multiple solutions -- installing drain pipe for the downspouts, performing drainage correction around the foundation and installing derail tile for the low areas in the back yard. The end result is that our back yard is dry for the first time since we moved in. It also dried up very quickly after the record rains we had in October. In addition to the drainage correction, Mike installed some new retaining walls for us which turned out beautiful as well as a new patio around our lower-level addition. Finally, he also re-did all of our existing beds all around the house and planted low-maintenance perennials, bushes and trees. We've had many neighbors compliment us on how all of the work turned out.
