I had heard Altmans was a good honest company. I described my problem to the tech but he chose to look for a different problem, not sure why, but naturally they found an additional problem (system is 2 years old and multiple failures is highly unlikely). After discussing the real problem again, tech then stated the real solution to the real problem. Expecting that this reputable company would treat a customer right, I accepted their quoted solution. At the price of $380.00, I thought the job would entail some serious time and effort to complete. If the tech was in my house for half an hour I would be surprised. I called the company and spoke to the owner where he insinuated that since I had received a quote 2 years earlier for the entire system install and did not select them as my installer and that justified the increased price. He summarily dismissed me and hung up. Thanks Altmans, I really expected better.

Excellent. We have lived in Florida for over 30 years and have seen a few ac systems come and go. Altman was the first one to get it right. We have had our system for many months and it is by far the best system we have owned. We have never had an ac unit where the heat actually worked. But with the recent cold spell we found the heat actually worked perfect. Thank you Altman for a great job and a solid unit.

Two years of nothing but headache dealing with this company trying to fix their own mistakes.
Description of Work: In Dec. 2014 paid to have a brand new air system installed Including all new lines installed. The cost was over $5000. Six months later unit not only froze up but water flooded all over my flooring. An Altman's employee came out and basically said "oops" there is supposed to be a cut off switch so when the unit starts to freeze it shuts down. It was not there. I didn't make a big deal about it since he seemed sincerely apologetic and put the switch in. I inquired about why the brand new unit froze up at all. He said they probably just didn't put enough coolant in the unit when it was installed. Again I let that go until two months later unit froze up again! Once again a call to Altmans was made and this time they sent out their head guy. After inspecting the unit and outside lines he stated and I quote, "this is embarrassing but the lines going under your house are not new lines. They never replaced them". I was quit upset with this since clearly in my contract I paid for a new unit including all new lines. He got on the phone with the owner of company and they made arrangements to have new lines put in. Again I was disappointed but relieved that they were going to correct the situation. Unit worked fine for another six months but again it began to freeze up. I couldn't believe that after spending thousands of dollars this was happening. Once again they came out and told me coolant was low. Obviously there was a leak somewhere and tech told me that they would do a pressure test if it happened again. Well of course it happened again and this time the tech stated that there seemed to be a leak involving the outside lines. Well I figured that they would again correct their mistake but of course this time Altmans wanted to charge me. Obviously the techs who installed the lines damaged them during install but of course since it was passed their required time that they could legally take responsibility for their error they wouldn't. Very disappointed with the attitude they had with us. We had nothing but problem after problem with this unit and install. So now two years to the date of this installed I am out over $5000 and have a unit that freezes up every three months due to a leak that they will only fix if I pay more money. Needless to say I am looking for another company with a little more integrity to deal with. A company that will stand by their work.

Used this company to replace my a/c system. They were prompt, professional, and efficient. I found their prices to be competitive and the value exceptional. Would highly recommend this company to anyone. I was talking with the technician and he said they take all the old a/c units, scrap them, and donate the money during Christmas and Thanksgiving to the needy. How many companies do you know that would do that?

I will compliment them that they were the only AC company that responded quickly to my email inquiry from their website. When the secretary called me back, I had to talk with a product specialist to discuss the specs of the system, another specialist about AC in general, and then to a salesman to discuss the price. None of the people I spoke with were able to tell me anything about the product outside of the full written description I had already read on the internet. Now there are 4 employees who needed to be paid at this point..., The price quoted was $6000 which I thought was a little high, but I asked for their estimator to come out and get a more specific quote to see what was included in that price or to see if they would come down. I think the estimator, Brian, came out the following day and on time. He took all of five minutes to tell me that my old system could stand to be replaced. He stated that my house needed a 2.5 AC, without looking around or measuring or asking me any questions. He laughed when I told him I wanted a 3 ton, but agreed to it. All over their website it states that they take into account lots of factors in sizing the proper unit. This is where the company lost its first points for professionalism. They lost more in connection with other things that Brian said would be done in the install that the Installers refused to do and things that Brian said did not need to be done that the installers said needed to be done. For example, I asked if the new, top of the line AC would need a different thermostat. Brian, using his fingers, made a very large rectangle shape around my thermostat and said "dont worry, your top-of-the-line air handler automatically comes with a huge touch screen thermostat." It came with a bottom of the line thermostat. When I complained about what was said by Brian, the assistant installer said "oh yeah, thats right, we were out of that one. We will order it and bring it to you. I forgot about that.." Two days later they came back with another bottom of the line thermostat. What I contacted Brian and told him about the situation he stated "WHAT I SAID DOESN''T MATTER. YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT IN WRITING. I WILL GET YOU ONE FOR $200." Brian also stated that Altmans will replace all insulation from the unit to the ceiling inside and outside. When I questioned the stallers Jason and Donald Compton, Jason replied "WE NEVER DO THAT. I WISH THEY WOULD TELL US WHEN THEY MAKE SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS LIKE THAT." When I called Brian he stated "THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THAT BY LAW". Here is another example: Brian stated that my old concrete slab was too small for the new condenser, Don and Jason brought a giant, thick condenser pad to my house. I was so happy! However, I quickly realized that they simply put the new pad on top of the old, moldy, discolored, slanted, broken slab! When I told Jason and Don that I was sorry, but they were going to have to redo the pad the right way, they both stated that that is how they always do it and it is fine. I was very upset because the slabs and condenser unit are tilted by about 3". I know that is what happens with condensers after 5 or 10 years, but my brand new $6880 unit? No way! I called Brian and he stated "That concrete slab has a Styrofoam bottom that is not allowed to sit on the ground." When I told him it does not have a Styrofoam bottom and that over 12 inches of the new slab were hanging over the edge of the old slab (just hanging over mid-air) and that I was highly concerned it will crack and or damage the condenser, he assured me that it will not break and that he will cover any damage, but he assured me that that is how his company is supposed to do it and that "it will pass inspection." I cannot speak on behalf of this because Altmans has yet to show me a permit and when I called to find out when the inspection would happen Altmans secretary said that the "inspection manager was out on vacation for the past week." Well, my AC was installed a full 2 weeks prior to my phone call. I have had to call about a dozen times in regard to the issues listed above and several others. Still on the topic of things BRIAN VERBALLY AGREED TO DURING THE ESTIMATE THAT DID NOT HAPPEN: Brian stated that the new air handler would need a condensate pump due to the new design, but they would do their best to use the gravity discharge I already had in place. He stated that the condensate pump would be put in an insulated box to reduce noise because it it close to my bedroom door. On this topic I can compliment Don and Jason because they took the time to bring the condensate pump outside and show me how it worked and the noise level it would make. However, before that Don removed the foam insulation from where the old gravity drain entered the wall to check it out. He then installed the new AC but never put new foam to cover the large hole in the wall behind the air handler. When showing me how the pump worked outside he put the hose over te fence into the neighbors house and turned it on, spraying water on the neighbors house.... And then they stated that they would put the unit in an insulated box and described the vent cover they would use to allow the small pump to breath. THEY NEVER PUT IN IN ANY INSULATION, AS PROMISED BY BRIAN, DON AND JASON. To speak on something that Brian said NEEDED to be done, but was NOT TRUE: The ONLY REASONS I cut out a wall in my house was so that Brian could make sure there was enough room for a 4" wide emergency shut off for the air handler, as required by law. Brian went over the law and stated that the only way the new unit and the emergency shut off would fit is if I cut out the wall. Well, THEY NEVER PUT IN A 4" EMERGENCY SHUT OFF. When I called Brian on this matter, he said that it was in the heat strip package. On the topic of Brian and the heat strip: I currently have a 50 amp for the heat strip. Brian wanted to put a 10Kw heat strip on the 50 amp. I was fine with that, but I looked on the internet and saw many people complaining that a 10Kw heat strip will pop the breaker with 50 amps. I called and requested a 7 Kw, which Brian changed the order to. I am no electrician AND THERE IS STILL NO INSPECTION, so I am not sure if the 10Kw would have worked or not... The installers arrived at my house at 10 AM! 10 AM to remove an old and install a new AC! They both said their names and shook my hand, but their hands both felt like dead fish. No life in them at all. Neither of them would look me in the eye. From what I gather, Don was the professional and Jason, the second worker, did not know if switching off the breaker to the AC actually turned off the electricity to the AC.... And he did ALL the work outside with the condenser... Don Compton works inside all day. He says almost nothing. Lots of loud bangs came from his work space and the van. He brought his own air conditioner blower and plugged it in and pointed it at himself they whole time, never asking if he had permission from myself, the home owner. The air handler did not work (I would assume one of the many loud bangs was him dropping it) and he had to go get another one. He removed the ground wire from the condensate pump to put it in a 2 prong plug, he put the air handler on a stand with bow legs. Oh, Brian stated that my vent door was not allowing enough air in and that it was a pain in the you know what to open a door to change an air filter, so they were supposed to install a 24" x 24" air intake (another reason why I had to cut the wall). Well, Don Compton disagreed and said the exact opposite. He did NOT install a new air intake as stated and he did NOT replace any insulation from the unit to the ceiling as stated by Brian. I saw tons of old insulation and dust falling onto the coils, but Don just ignored it. Also, about 20 of the "fins" on the coils are now bent. I will assume Don was picking off the dirt and bent the fins. They ended up staying until 7pm, at which time the word "f***" was common from Jason, so I told them to go home and fix the rest tomorrow. I knew he had plans because he kept texting and taking phone calls. If they didn't want to stay until 7, maybe they should have shown up before 10! They DID NOT come back and fix their work the following day. They NEVER Said thank you or goodbye. All they would say is "is that all." They did not even put an air filter on it. They were running the system letting dust and concrete from the recently cut dry wall (my removed wall) get sucked right up into it. Don said "we don't have that size filter." He they paused and stared at me, waiting for me to say it was all right. I did not and after a long moment of awkward silence he agreed to go to the Home Depot and buy one. Their last words to me were "How are you paying?" I NEVER signed the FPL rebate form for $880 because it stated "do not sign until you are fully satisfied" or something like that. I would assume they forged my signature, either that or they never requested the rebate. I will contact FPL and let everyone know what I find out. Right now I am considering hiring a lawyer, but I am in email with Brevard County to determine if a Permit was filed or if an inspection was scheduled. I will let everyone know what I find out. They worst thing about it is that I have a 1 year contract with this highly unprofessional company. I am considering requesting a refund and contacting Rheem to see if I can get the warranty transferred, but something tells me I will have to babysit these employees again and watch their every move so I can inform them of everything they are not doing correctly. I am a very laid back guy who paid for peace of mind and professionalism. I feel hurt and confused and will recommend people stay as far away from this company as possible... Look at pics for more issues

RUN from these guys!!! The female owner who answers the phone has a horrible attitude problem!!! I called them to come out because our AC wasn't working. The guy came out, I paid him $300, and after several hours noticed that it was still wasn't working. I understand when someone makes a mistake - the guy was nice, so I wasn't angry. I just wanted to let them know it still wasn't working and if someone could come back out.The female owner answered the phone and I told her it still wasn't working. She asked in an angry tone, "Well, what's wrong with it?" I told her all I knew is that the AC still isn't working. She became nasty with me and said, "Look, I can't read your mind; you have to tell me what's wrong." (As if I knew exactly what was wrong.) She was so mean, I almost exploded but I caught myself and hung up. After awhile, I called back, hoping to get someone else. I told the lady that I really needed to get someone else out here because the AC still didn't work, I paid $300 and was yelled at over the phone. She said, "Well, that person was me and I don't like your attitude. You hung up on me." I told her I was sorry but she was so being so angry I couldn't handle it and didn't want to yell. I tried to get her to just start over and send someone. She screamed, hung up the phone and no one ever came to fix my AC. So, on advice from my lawyer, I stopped payment on the $300 check. I called and talked to the brother, explained the situation and said I would be more than happy to pay part of the bill for the free-on. He said he'd call back. No one ever did. In the meantime, I had to call another AC company and pay $350 more to get it fixed. A few weeks later, I received a statement from Brevard County saying they had placed a LIEN ON MY HOUSE for the $350!!!!
Description of Work: Supposed to fix air conditioner, but I was charged and they didn't do it right and it still didn't work.

Description of Work: Tom at Elite AC provided a wealth of information prior to the purchase of my Trane XR15 Weathertron system. Great service at time of installation - 3 trucks at my door on the day they scheduled! Larry Hardin was helpful as Tom's lead, HOWEVER, I was told he would come back out and replace my return grill that he busted. Additionally, the front access panel leaked air and Larry placed foil tape across it which has since peeled back. When I tried to call Elite, I was redirected to Altman A/C. I called Altman and left all the information with them and nobody called me back. When I followed up with them two weeks later they said they could come out and take a look at it however they would charge me $30 just to look at the problem. As this is a brand-new system and was put in less than a year ago, I had hoped that they would take over as promised by Tom, but my concerns came true. Ill try Ellington next...

Excellent. My system needed one pound of refrigerant and now it cools as it should. Their tech, Matt, even spent the time to explain how I can make my system more efficient and made sure he answered all my questions. I have used Altman's for the past 3 years, after checking that they have an A+ rating from the BBB. Their techs are both knowledgeable and honest and they have never tried to "up sell" me, even though my central air conditioner is twenty years old. I have recommended them to everyone I know and if you're in their service area, I would suggest you use them as well. You won't be overcharged and you will be satisfied.
Description of Work: My central A/C system was not cooling as well as it did last season. The refrigerant level was only one pound low, but with some other adjustments based on Matt's recommendations, my system is now cooling as it should.

Altman's was the 4th company I contacted to do this job. The first 2, which I selected after reviewing them on Angie's List, were way out of line with pricing. The 3rd is a company we have used for many years but had no interest in doing this job until at least October because of the heat. When I called Altman's on a Monday, he quoted me the price over the phone and said he could do the job that Wednesday. His employees came early Wednesday morning, and about 5 minutes after they arrived, Mr. Altman came and made sure the employees understood exactly what they were to do. In addition, Mr. Altman spent time answering some questions I had about other air conditioning-related issues. The job was completed in less than 1 1/2 hours and at the price quoted. I highly will recommend this company and appreciate the ability to do business in Titusville.

I called after hours because my A/C was not working. A tech came out at 10pm, and we were charged for an after hours service call, and the A/C was said to be working fine, but they would send someone out during daylight hours to double check everything. The next day another tech came out, I was assured that all of my A/C was working perfectly, but I may need a $300 part installed. When I called to request to order it, the part took 3 weeks to come in, and I was contacted multiple times by the company to install it. I am a busy mom of 2 small children with a full time job, so it's hard to catch me at home, I understand that. When I called to have the part installed, the woman at the office said "Miss, I tried to call you numerous times to get part installed" with a horrible attitude. I hung up, and took my business elsewhere.
