We were given a price for the renovation of 2 bathrooms by 2 different service representative of Celtic and the quotes were almost identical. During our final meeting to sign the contract we found they had raised the price an additional $12,000 with very little explanation. I had the 2 previous quotes with me, but was only given a cursory explanation and made to feel I was now wasting the representative's time. We were confused because when we met with their consultants (in the Celtic store) we were assured we were staying within the budget previously quoted (twice) and made choices accordingly. A customer is ready to give a credit card deposit and is NEVER contacted by the Celtic Manager as to why the contract was not signed? Wouldn't a store manager want to here a customer's point of view? Extremely poor customer service/relations. The women at Celtic who helped us make our choices was extremely professional and helpful. We thank her for all the time she spent with us and keeping our spending within our budget--but not honored by management.

Response from Celtic Home Gallery
In response: Our company gave this client quotes 3 different times over 2 years, which we were happy to do at no cost. On our last visit, we brought our electrician along to ensure an accurate estimate. At this time the client added extra electrical to the scope of work, plus changed the design of cabinetry, requiring an upgrade from an entry-level line of cabinetry to a semi-custom cabinet line. These modifications increased the price. The new price level was not at all random, but based upon the customer's new requirements. It was explained that if we changed back to the original scope and materials, we could get back within budget. The customer did not wish to revert to original selections. We feel it unfair to say that management did not honor the budget. Our aim was always to give the customer what they wanted. It seems unreasonable to ask for more labor and more expensive materials yet expect the price not to change. Ultimately, no work was done for this customer. We regret this client had an unhappy experience. CELTIC HOME GALLERY

This business has grown rapidly since I originally started using them in 2013. In the beginning the owner sat at the counter in the showroom and dealt directly with customers as they came in. This business hires subcontrators to do all their work. The plumbing company they use has a rude plumber who worked on our master. He didn't like the faucets he had to install and left my job with a turn off valve under the sink that could not be operated because it bumped into the cabinet , so never could be turned off and one sink's stopper does not seal properly to hold the water in the sink. Mostly the work that was done in each case was acceptable to us and for the most part was done in a timely manner. The drawback in using Celtic is that this business does not offer any type of warranty on their work. So a mere 60 days after completing the most recent renovation, the guest bath, we encountered a bad leak. Since it was a guest bath it went undetected for 4 days. A call to Cliff Webber, the owner was met with " I'm on vacation with my family, just because you spring a leak months after we finish your job doesn't mean we are responsible". ( a direct quote). While we can understand that the call we made to Cliff was a surprise to him since he was on vacation ( which we only reached out to him as a last resort ,since he had given us his cell number and the main office was shut with no way to get a hold of anyone, and we didn't know the name of the plumbing company he used). Also it should be noted that more than once we apologized to Cliff for interrupting his vacation. WE also assumed incorrectly that as a business owner he would want to work with us, a long time client , to resolve any issue we had in the first 90 days at least. In our opinion since the work had been completed well within a 90 day period ( 60 days) it seemed reasonable to us to call his company. As it turns out the water leak stained the base cabinet and leaked onto the floor seeping into the newly installed base board, warped it so that it has to be thrown out and a new baseboard needs to be installed. When the emergency plumber came out ( the installing plumber did not respond to calls from the owner), he stated the valves were so loose that he was surprised the leak didn't have more force and damage. In our opinion Cliff Weber had the opportunity to DO THE RIGHT THING, or at the very least be polite. He not only didn't take ANY responsibility, although he did put in a call to his plumber , he was indignant that I called him. Well we had guests using that bath for the weekend and we were indignant Cliff Weber's subcontractor did a poor job tightening the valves and didn't call us back in a timely manner causing us to use a different plumber. While it very well may not have seemed to have been Celtic Tile's responsibility at the outset, the preponderance of the evidence ( confirmed by an outside plumber, no rocket science plumbing theories needed) showed it was Celtic Tile's responsibility.
Description of Work: Over 4 years we have had a kitchen counter and backsplash installed. Small bathroom countertop installed, Master bath double vanities/countertop/shower floor re tiled and a complete renovation of a guest bath.

In response: In all fairness, we are legally required to use licensed subs for electrical and plumbing. All other personnel on the project were employees of Celtic. We ALWAYS warranty our work for one year. The plumber did call back the same day - and is responsible for the damage if it was directly caused by them - they were told that the client had already contacted someone else. We apologize and regret that you had an unhappy experience. CELTIC HOME GALLERY

Overall very happy with quality of work and sub contractors used . Cliff webber of Celtic is very expert and good to deal with . They were not the cheapest alternative but we were happy to trade off some extra expense for quality . Unexpected issues which always arise were sorted in professional and fair minded manner . Overall would definitely recommend

The job was started on Feb 3, 2014 and completed on April 30, 2014 although majority of work was completed by 4/14/2014 just some minor touch ups done in last two weeks. I was told 6-8 weeks for the job so I feel like they were pretty close to on schedule. I was very pleased with the work and especially how close the cost came to the estimate they provided before we started. Another contractor told me I should be prepared to pay 5-15% more than the estimate because things just happen along the way. I did make some changes along the way with Celtic but that was the only thing that caused my cost to increase from the estimate and we only went over our original plan by about $1000-2000. I also was extremely pleased with all the subcontractors who worked on our job and the interaction between the contractor and subcontractor. I was introduced to everyone and went over the each job ahead and they made many great suggestions that I did not even think of especially the electrical team. I also appreciated the showroom team who helped me pick flooring, tile, paint color and more and more. Some other places I was getting estimates from just sent you out on your own to pick and make design choices. Geoff, Kelly and Tammy were all exceptionally helpful whenever I had questions, issues or problems. Geoff was the go to guy and he always made sure to respond quickly to my needs by stopping by the condo or by sending the right person to do the job and even did many things for me that were not probably actually his responsibility. I am sure there were many other people who were working behind the scenes that I did not see or interact with also. There were a few items that did not turn out exactly as I had hoped but some were because of my own choices and some were minor items that I just didn't realize would look the way they did when finished. Overall I am very happy with the work and would recommend Celtic for a full remodel or just to purchase products for you to install on your own. They have a great showroom and a small granite yard but access to many other providers as well. Best of all their estimate was actually the lowest one I got for the work I was having done. ob.
Description of Work: Condo Remodel Replacement of most of the flooring, raised ceiling in the kitchen, knocked out a closet and opened up the kitchen to the living area, complete remodel of master bathroom turning current shower into a closet and making a spa shower in tub area. Installation of granite countertops in kitchen and all new counters and cabinets in 3 bathrooms, installation of ceiling fans, lights and new electrical box, remodel bar area with installation of granite and same for fireplace, also added fireplace surround.

Waited 2 weeks for the estimate. I thought the estimate was too high for a 9X9 bathroom. May call them to see what we can do about it. One of the questions asked was if I would use this provider in the future. It was a yes or no answer only but in reality I May or may not use this provider in the future.

We were leaning toward using Celtic but several issue arose. We met with a total of 5 kitchen remodelers. Celtic was in our home town and we liked working with Will, the sales person. We told each of the 5 contractor's our vision and what we wanted to see in our kitchen but that we were open to their ideas as long as we retained most of our ideas (our house). Celtic really pushed the cabinetry. After a third drawing was submitted and Celtic made us aware that we were becoming bothersome because we kept saying no to the amount of cabinets that they were pushing, we decided to move away from contracting with them. It seemed like we were going to be at odds with them as the project went on because we just thought they over-did the amount of cabinets. We are a couple with grown children and we didn't need that much kitchen storage. We were also turned off by the granite and floor sales lady. She was just difficult. How dare you ask that many questions type...I've been doing this for over 25 years so do as I suggest. We didn't care for that. We wanted to go with Celtic but in the end we got cold feet because it was a good deal of money and we were already creating friction with our questions. It seemed with most of the contractors that if you opened your check book and let them do their thing you could get a nice kitchen but your money is of little concern. If you push back the contractors insinuate that you aren't serious about the project and you are a cheapskate. On the contrary, we had our entire home's floor demo'd and replaced and we got new kitchen cabinets and countertops at a considerable cost but we got the kitchen we had envisioned, not what a contractor wanted to do for the greatest profit margin.

I worked with Cliff in the past, we were very pleased, and left a great review on this site. I called him for a bathroom project but he did not return my call. I understand things can happen and he was so good on the last project that I decided to give him another call. We spoke and met to go over the small bathroom remodel and all seemed well. After 1 week I decided to get a progress report on the estimate he was supposed to send me. No returned call. After 2 more calls I almost gave up and instead decided to Cal his cell phone. He answered but stated he needed to call me back after his meeting. That was 3 days ago.

I made an appointment to meet with Cliff from Celtic to get an estimate on (2) bathroom renovations, even took the time to go to the showroom before the meeting to check out materials before the appointment. I waited for almost 2 hrs after the appointment time to call Celtic.. The gentleman who answered contacted Cliff while I was on the phone, Cliff was hung up on a job and would call to reschedule. There was no reason given as to why he could not place a call to cancel (I would understand getting hung up at another project).. It has now been over a week and I have yet to receive a call back. I can only assume that they are not interested or too busy to take on any work.

From the start, Will at Celtic was terrifically helpful. I had an idea in mind of what look I wanted for my kitchen countertops, but had been frustrated in my search. Will took me around the showroom discussing different possibilities. I felt like he really listened to me. Sure enough, he came up with a Quartz sample that had just the right look. He and the installer, Rick, visited my home and really looked at the project making notes and asking questions. Rick was terrific and his measurements were just perfect! My one mistake was not totally conveying exactly what dimensions I wanted for my breakfast bar and I think is came out a little short. This was not the installer's fault, I should have taken to time to communicate my exact specifications. Several weeks after the installation, I had friends arrive to stay in my home which had not been used since the countertops had been installed. They claimed that my new dishwasher was not working. I knew Rick had had to make some adjustments around the dishwasher as there was a very tight fit in that area. I called Celtic and they took care of the issue right away! Rick came right back to see what was going on, and it turned out that the plug had just come loose from the socket. I cannot comment on if the price was high or low for the job as I had not gotten any estimates on quartz before. I believe one slab was used to fabricate my kitchen and powder bath countertops and the price was $4,000. Overall, I was extremely happy with my experience working with Celtic Kitchen and Bath and wouldn't hesitate to call them or recommend them for any kitchen or bath remodeling job.

Description of Work: Celtic Kitchen and Bath replaced our kitchen counter-tops as well as our cabinetry hardware and I am pleased with their work, their responsiveness, their professionalism, and the overall result. Except for one issue which resulted in my having to pay more than was originally expected, I would give an entirely positive review. A description of the issue follows. Along with replacing our kitchen counter-tops, we intended to replace all of our kitchen appliances as well. Our stove was a combination under-counter range and a cook-top. I proposed to replace each of those with a new free-standing oven. When the Celtic representative scoped the task and provided an estimate, I was advised that this would be "no problem". Consequently, I ordered this free-standing oven along with all the other replacement appliances (refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher). Only after the new oven arrived was it discovered that my old range and cook-top were "hard-wired" into the wall and that conversion of this wiring approach to provide an outlet for my free-standing oven would be a much larger than expected task and would have resulted in dry wall and ceiling work that would have been aesthetically non-pleasing (i.e. it would have been obvious our ceiling had been patched). Fortunately, we had not yet discarded our old cook-top. However, I had to return the new free-standing oven, order a new, more expensive single, wall mount oven, and pay an additional amount for granite for our counter-tops since the original, new granite had already been cut for the free-standing oven. Needless to say, I wasn't overjoyed with having to pay for what I believe was someone else's mistake. As I indicated before, had it not been for this issue, I would have rated Celtic as an "A" in every category.

Cliff, the owner, was involved from the start. He is very knowledgeable, and has an eye fo r his work. They installed a new counter top on the center island with a new sink and faucet to match the new farmhouse sink and fixtures also installed in a 3 day period. The counter top had to be modified for the farmhouse sink and was done beautifully. All craftsmen were courteous, and punctual.A top notch outfit. I highly recommend them.

We set up our first apptmt on a Saturday. He cancelled for person reasons. We set up an apptmt the following week on a weekday evening. He cancelled again for personal reasons. He asked at that point if I wanted to set up another apptmt. By this time, I was disgusted. I just said I would get back with him to let him down easy. The personal was not a sickness...............more like family recreation apptmts!!!!! I read the response from Cliff. No, the second apptmt was for a soccer game also. Cliff did not say he was sick. I was not angry and upset, because I didn't want to burn my bridges at this point. I still didn't know if I was going to use Cliff's services or not. I told Cliff I would call him if I wanted to set up another appointment. I did not hang the phone up, but I was disgusted. Cliff, you are thinking about another unhappy customer, not me. How could you remember four months back? No one else in the Celtic office could handle the apptmt? We waited four months to do the review, because that is when our kitchen was WONDERFULLY completed by Meltini. We wrote an update on Celtic and another kitchen company after our kitchen renovation was complete. My job as a participant in Angie's List is to tell about my experience to other consumers. I could have not said something, but I would be hurting the other people that use Angie's List.

Response from Celtic Home Gallery
In reply, I am the "he" the customer refers to: Cliff Webber, Project Manager and owner of Celtic Kitchen and Bath Design Center. I indeed made the appointment to meet with this customer on a Saturday. I had recently become coach of my 4-year-old daughter's soccer team and at the time was unaware of the scheduling conflict. When I realized that I was to coach the game that day, I called the customer to explain and made her fully aware of this fact. Agreed, my missing that Saturday was for a "family recreation appointment", but the new appointment with the customer was mutually rescheduled for a later date. Unfortunately, as can happen when you have young children, I became ill with a very bad cold and feared I may still be contagious. The day of the new appointment I did not want to risk making a customer sick, so I did call to offer my apologies and asked to set a new date. The customer became angry and upset. I even offered to come to her home and keep the appointment anyway, but the customer hung up on me. We are a bit puzzled as to why one would wait almost four months after the fact to post a negative review of us. We rely strongly on word-of-mouth advertising and referrals from our many happy customers, which is the primary reason for joining Angie's List in the first place. We at Celtic Kitchen and Bath Design Center pride ourselves on customer service and do regret that this customer was left unhappy, but we never had the chance to actually perform any work for her.
