This was a fantastic experience. I was very concerned, but he was professional and an excellent artisan. I choose difficult tile to work with, pebbles, that had to be cut into a borden and the floor. It is beautiful-beyond expectations.
Description of Work: Mr. Watkins tiled my new shower and floor.

He is really top of the line. I bought the wood from a person he suggested. With him and the wood it was almost $20,000. I paid him over $6,000. It was a lot of work so he really wasn't overpriced. There was a maximum amount of detail work. I could have probably gotten someone a little cheaper if I had shopped around but you get what you pay for and I couldn't have found anyone that would have done better work. I would use him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I used Watkins Tile to put in all of my hardwood flooring and it was a lot of flooring. I have a 3000 square foot house and he did the family room, kitchen, hallways, living room, dining room and the office.

Scott came highly recommended by my contractor for this project. He felt that Scott was the only one that he felt could do this level of work. I had to wait 2 or 3 weeks to fit Scott into the project and my schedule so that I could be there most of the time for any last minute changes. I bought the tile from Tampa Tile near St Pete/ Clearwater airport. They where very helpful and had a great display of patterns. I picked out one of the patterns in the display room and Scott ordered and picked up the tile. The original floor plan was for a 3 piece pattern of different sizes with a credit card width grout line. After laying out the 3 pieces Scott found that the grout line would have to be a 1/4 inch to make the 3 piece pattern work throughout. So we stopped and went with a 16" tile at a 45 degree angle and CC grout line. Tampa tile took back the other tile and refunded the difference. We had to make some changes to the original pattern in which we added and took some details away just to get the right look and not be left with a weird cut at the end. Scott was excellent with his decisions on what would look good and what wouldn't. A picture is worth a thousand words so I've included some detailed pictures. I know the contractor had a budget of $5000 for tile labor work and I was to buy the tile. I'm not sure what Scott actually charged the contractor. BEAUTIFUL JOB!!
Description of Work: This project was a completely new bathroom and not a tear out and replace. It took part of a bedroom and garage area that was transformed into a 12 x 12 master bathroom area. This was a very complicated tile job that involved an elect heated sub floor, shower area, and shower seat. Tiling into skylight area and blending into an inlaid area of glass tile that came out and down from sky light. Tiling was mud set on floor and 2 walls with minimal grout lines. Shower area had no curb and was made to slope down into a deco type drain at the wall while maintaining the same tile pattern through out the bathroom and shower area. The glass tile inlay presented a problem in that it was being cut at a sharp angle and whether or not it would work with the small pieces without cracking or chipping. I bought a couple of test sheets and scott was able to cut the sharp angle and not get any chipping. This was done by sandwiching the glass sheet (12" x 12") on both sides and then cutting on the saw. The glass tile was not as thick as wall tile and had to be built out so it all looked level and the same thickness. Scott worked by himself and this job took about 2 weeks to complete.

We agreed to the quoted price for all the services. He was to call / bring by a sample of different flooring he could get at a better price. He had a different supplier he could use where we were using the local hardware store for the flooring purchase. He never showed up, called, or was heard from again. We ended up using another licensed contractor to do all but the door installation. We had a handy man to install the doors.
Description of Work: Quoted for Pergo, Baseboard, and Door installation.

Response from Watkins Tile Inc
I quoted the customer a price in January of 2011, He stated that my price was to high and I never got the job. Therefore there was no reason to bring samples to someone who stated they where using someone else and that person was an UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR to do his flooring. A license contractor can not compete price wise with a unlicensed contractor as an unlicensed contractor does not carry the necessary insurance and quaifications. I have been in business for over 20 years and have the expereince. Thank you Scott Watkins of Watkins Tile
