Southern Drainage Systems

Southern Drainage Systems did a terrific job. They priced the job fairly, gave sound advice on what was needed, and completed the project in timely fashion. Everything is working great and John and his team took such care with our existing to remain driveway. He let our 2 year old son explore his big tractor and take photos. John is such a great guy and did excellent work. We will be calling him in the future for our drainage needs and recommend him to all taking the time to read this review. -Nick in Oldsmar, FL

The job went very well. The ending cost was higher than original estimate but was justified and discussed with me as issues were encountered. The most significant issue dealt with was the amount of oak tree roots that had to be cutout and removed to provide for proper drain pipe flow and location. Laser device was used to ensure proper depth of pipe being installed. The job site was left in safe condition each day and the cleanup after completion was excellent. Before the new system was installed, we were dealing with flood water coming off our pool deck moving into FL room. Since we had the new system installed we have had absolutely no drainage problems. Note that I waited to submit this review after we have had a chance to test the new system with the summer rain storms. Passed with no problems!

John and his associate did two days of hard work and we have had several days of very heavy rains since the installation. The stains on our maple wood floor will likely never lessen, but we have not noticed an increase in number or size since the job was completed. John said that he would stand behind the job if any further leakage was observed in that area; a comforting statement. We will not hesitate to recommend Southern Drainage Sysgtems.

This was a very challenging project as the available yard space was small and further constrained by the roots of the existing palm trees. John and his team worked hard to execute the project in the tight space and to avoid damage to the tree roots. In addition, they had to remove, then replace some pavers in order to complete the project. I am very pleased with the final results! During the heavy and continuous rain of the past several weeks (July/August 2015) the system has functioned as designed. I do not have any standing water or water rolling into my pool. Happy to recommend Southern Drainage.

I called Southern Drainage Systems about a flooding/drainage issue I had in my backyard and patio area. My backyard is next to a field which slopes towards my house. My patio and portions of my yard would be 'underwater' after a heavy rain leaving it unusable for days. I was also concerned about damage to the house and foundation. I called and spoke to John. He was courteous and assured me he would be able to solve the drainage problem. John arrived and I showed him the area and what exactly the problem was. He seemed very knowledgeable of this type of situation and was describing what was causing it as well as a plan to correct it. He took notes and measurements of the area and created a drainage plan with a quote. John and his crew were friendly and organized and began moving pavers, digging, etc. I was pleased with their work, it only took two days to complete and he gave me a five year warranty on the drainage system. Since then, we have had several rains, some even severe. I was so excited not to have any standing water in my backyard or patio after the rain! I was able to use my patio within minutes after a rain, not days and I would recommend them to anyone who is having a similar drainage problem.

John was very professional. He arrived on time, took his time evaluating the flooding issue and came up with the best solution possible. He was very personable and through. I would recommend him to anyone.

This man is the rudest guy I have ever dealt with in my life and acted as though he was doing us a favor.I joined Angie's list because I wanted to find a good company to install drainage on my property. I knew the work would be costly so I wanted to find a good company to resolve our issue. I called Southern Drainage based upon the review above. I live in Tampa but my home is really close to Lutz. The owner advised me that the work would be a minimum of 1,900 (although he had never looked at my home). He asked for directions to my home and I tried my best to provide them. However, I thought it was odd that he did not have a GPS or mapping system. He advised me that we would be the LAST home he would come out to without charging a $100 or more service fee. On the day he was to come out, he got lost and upset with my directions. He told me that I would have to pay $95 for him to come out or he would turn around and go home and at that time, he was only ten (10) minutes away from my home. I told him that we did not need his business that bad and he was not doing me any favors. THUS, IF YOU CALL THIS COMPANY BE PREPARED TO PAY A TRIP FEE AND BE PREPARED TO DEAL WITH HIS ARROGANCE. LASTLY, IF YOU LIVE IN TAMPA/HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY OR ANYWHERE TO FAR FROM HIS OFFICE..DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

John solved our problem of water coming into our house and finished the job neatly so that nothing shows on the lawn but the grates. He was cooperative and worked very hard to solve our problem.

He is great, he did exactly what I wanted him to do and at the price he quoted me. He was nice to call to tell me that he would be a few days later in starting because of problems with another job. He is very polite and does excelant work.
