Two other air conditioning companies came out and BOTH completely refuted everything that the first contractor told me. I told them about the pictures of the mold he'd taken and they BOTH said "they weren't pictures of your unit because there isn't any mold on the condenser or the handler"....they also BOTH showed me how to tell the date of the condenser because it's in the serial number!! What the heck?? These two contractors BOTH informed me that my bill would be substantially lower if I added insulation to my attic, added another cold air return and had it inspected and serviced once a year, which never was suggested by the first contractor.
It would appear that the change of management for this company did it no justice.
Although, the technician Richard had very good customer service when I saw him, was very apologetic, and did appear to be knowledgeable in his trade. Richard was not the problem.
This company has at least 5 people who answer the phones. They are the ones who make the appointments, and they are the ones that make the technician's schedule. It is the responsibility of the phone operators in the office to call me if their technician is going to be late or can't make an appointment. They never called me. I just waited around all day waiting for Richard but he never showed. Again, I was ditched 5 times on 5 different days, no show, no call. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.
I don't think Richard is to blame. There was a lack of communication between Richard and all the people that answer the phones, and his schedule.
Richard did finally locate the Freon leak in my unit, using a gel test. The leak was in the coils in the air handler. Although, getting anyone to show up for their scheduled appointment was next to impossible. I never got rude over the phone, but when I was expressing me disappointment, only 1 female on the phone got snippy with me.
Obviously, I won't be using this company again. And now that I know where the leak is, I need to find another AC company to either repair the leak, or buy a new system.
Oh yeah, these guys won't even begin the gel test until they're paid. They want the check in hand, and then they'll do the test, and add the Freon (to circulate the gel). So, when they say they will be back in 48hrs to find the actual leak, you have already paid in full at that point. Therefore, they don't really have any motivation to come back. I'm surprised they even came back at all.
It wasn't until I congratulated them on a scam well done, and told them that I don't care anymore, I'm throwing in the towel and giving up......that they finally came and found the leak. What a headache and a waste of my time. Terrible customer service by the phone operators, or possibly an incompetent manager.
