An ambitious project well executed… I cannot say enough about the skill and professionalism of Susan Layden. Hiring S.O.S. to organize my home was, without a doubt the best decision I made. I would have never gotten to all the organizing and projects without her help. It seems an extravagance, but I am more efficient and effective with my work. I’m enjoying cooking again and even filing my taxes was less painful because my records were organized. I have lived in my home for many years and never moved. I had gotten organized in different rooms at different times, but work always took precedent. I am not exaggerating when I say that Susan help me organize every inch of a four-bedroom home, NOTHING went untouched. We were, over the course of a few weeks able to organize every nook and cranny of my home including cabinets, closets, pantry, bathrooms, home office, and garage. No piece of paper, jewelry, article of clothing, book, photo, dish or linen went untouched. I have an older home with limited storage and closet space. We purged, donated, and rearranged every space in my home to make it as efficient as it can possibly be. We worked with my schedule and hers. While you may have a much smaller project, trust me when I say that no part of this project was considered too insignificant or trivial for her to help me complete. I am very grateful for her help. My husband was out of town for the weekend and I did something I have wanted to do for over 30 years!😉 Clean and organize garage!! Susan was fantastic. She was punctual, organized and did an awesome job. She was very creative with placement of items and helped w/ what to keep and what to let go of. Now, we have moved and Susan is back, lol. I don't want to begin our new household in the same way I always have. I want to be organized in every room of my much smaller home...where everything is where it should be and it "makes sense" to me. I hope to live in this house for the rest of my life so I want it to be a place I truly enjoy and that "works" for me. Susan is always on time, is very professional but warm and friendly also, and she knows what she's doing. Not only will I continue my work with Susan until my home functions the way I want it to, but I will happily recommend her to anyone needing assistance with organization. Susan's fee isn't "cheap" but I truly feel I get my money's worth. She barely stops to eat lunch....most of the time just grabbing a bite of something as she continues to work. Lol. And besides, she has the skill...I do not. The tips and organizing systems she has offered were just not on my radar and never would have been. You might find someone for less but if you want lasting instruction and guidance, Susan will be hard to beat. As a result of these few months working with Susan, not only is she my organizing expert, but now Susan is my friend.
Description of Work: Susan is, in a word, AMAZING! She began working with me at our previous home to help me purge and organize before we moved. After years and years of living in the same home and possessing minimal organizational skills I was left feeling somewhat overwhelmed. Susan came in and took one look around and said, "oh yeah...we can do this. This isn't as bad as it seems to you." I can't tell you how encouraged her confidence made me feel. We began our work and I was so amazed. Over a period of just a few days really, Susan managed to help me donate, sell, or box up for moving everything in our 3800 sf. home.

I had a bedroom closet that had not been touched in years. It had become totally too overwhelming for me and as there was no floor space I viewed it as dangerous when attempting to find something. I called Susan and scheduled about a month in advance - which worked well for me. Within 6 hours the closet was purged - most of the clothing in that particular closet I hadn't worn for years. I have an addiction to shoes and purses that were previously in a big pile and I could never locate anything. All shoes are now in cubbies and visible. I did let some purses go but the majority are in bins on the shelves and I can now see what I have. I am so pleased. Susan arrived on time and went to work. She is professional, friendly and a pleasure to be around. Although she encourage me to "let go" of some items the decision was always mine. I hope to complete the bathroom and bedroom on my own and then have Susan back to declutter and reorganize my kitchen. Again - I am so pleased - I keep looking at the transformation - have even sent pictures to a close friend and my son!! Cost included many of Susan's own bins and a shoe organizer - I went and bought 2 more and she assembled.

Susan was very professional. She was punctual and very thoughtful . It took approximately 5 days to sort through accumulated "stuff" of over 15 years living in our home. She was able to define what to dispose, donate and keep in a fairly independent way as both my husband and I were working or traveling while she was doing the job. She suggested storage units for the garage ( at extra cost) that are very functional and look great. She utilized multiple types of containers and individually labeled most of them ( when appropriate). She even sent us receipts of the charity donations upon completion. Overall we are extremely satisfied with her organizational skills and it is finally a pleasure to enter home through our garage. She exceeded our expectations !

She requires a $60 consult before she will start, which is fine. This would allow her time to assess what needed to be done and create a plan to complete the project. She arrived 30 minutes late without a courtesy call. She was there approximately 20 minutes and told me her price and availability. She stated she had access to a variety of containers to help with the project. She created no action plan, gave no recommendations. I would not recommend her to anyone.

To begin with, I would not want to try to stay up to speed with Susan for very long. She is just tireless and SO organized in her thoughts. There is not one minute wasted with her. She can look at your space and immediately determine how it is to be organized and what is going to go where. She looks at your home as if it is going to be her home and I am talking about such organization that you would never have thought of. Space that she finds you would have thought of as and quot;dead spaceand quot; she makes very useful and so convenient. She is personable and charming - all of it the real deal - this is just her and she is very concerned about your comfort and enjoyment of your new home or home of 50 years. I literally didn't know where to start with unpacking and and quot;crammingand quot; all of my stuff in this much smaller home. So, the day before, I was just unpacking and placing as best as I could my various things, say in the kitchen. Susan came today and looked at what I had unpacked and placed in my kitchen cabinets and gently suggested a better way of organizing things. I immediately saw what she saw, but would not have seen it without her. With the way I had done things, I was quickly out of space. With the way Susan reorganized things, I have a lot of space left over! Again, I cannot stress enough, that she treats your home like it is going to be her home. She is truly only interested in your comfort and happiness. I am going to get new furniture in my living room and once that is done I want my pictures hung. I will call Susan - she does that too!! She has already installed shelves and hung a few pictures - picture perfect. She is just amazing. She has her tools and her level and can install shelves, hang pictures perfectly - she is a marvel. I just can't say enough good things about her. Oh, I forgot to mention - she is very punctual and reliable - this is just an after thought - because someone this good would obviously be. y

I handled the introduction of Susan to my friend. I sat back as they began the dialog of meeting each other. Susan was able, in less than five minutes, to get talk to move from and quot;who I amand quot; to the spark of just maybe being able to collaborate. This was everything I have ever seen with medical doctor meeting a patient and turning the conversation in the direction of how to treat and cure whatever is wrong. There was never an iota of criticism or judgment but rather optimism in bite size pieces as she shaped the situation toward a collaboration. I stepped out of the apartment for five minutes to return with some storage bins they could use. In that five minutes things had moved from casual conversation to exploring the recesses of closets and talking about what my friend wanted rather than a tone of , and quot;This is what you have to do.and quot; A really neat blend of skills to be able to coach, coax, and cheer all at the same time. I was summarily dismissed by my neighbor who announced I wasn't needed and that the two of them were doing just fine. This is a work in progress and I hope to see some more smiles from my friend as they work toward making life good again. Having watched this encounter and knowing there are lots of people, me included, that could gain from her talents I can only provide the strongest recommendation to select Susan if you have a similar situation.
