After discussing these issues with friends and co-workers and learning some others have had the same and similar experiences with your company, I was advised to check the city records to make sure that the lien had been taken off of our home since I had paid you in full at the time of service in 2005. Mr. Flores, your accounting department still has NOT removed the lien against our home! Yet, I paid everything in full with my credit card when services were rendered. Again, this is totally unacceptable!!! Mr. Flores, these issues need to be corrected immediately. You advertise 100% customer satisfaction on your website. I am not satisfied. After so many negative issues with your company, I will be honest in telling you that I am now questioning the quality of your work. Did you really use all the material that you charged me for? Has the work been done correctly or did you take short cuts? I have previously referred your company to 5 friends. I can only hope that the work on their roof was done well since it was through my referral that they chose to use your services. And that represents MY name. At least I stand behind mine. Mr. Flores, I need to know how and when you will be correcting these issues.
Description of Work: I am writing to Mr. Flores of Stay Dry Roofing Of Tampa Bay Inc to address some major concerns that I have in regards to a roof that your company placed on our home in 2005. I am a first time home owner. After purchasing my home I joined Angie’s List and learned of your company through my membership with them. After meeting company representatives from various firms, I called your office for a quote and met Curtis. I ultimately chose your company to replace my roof. I asked Curtis if I should apply for the permit, but he said that since you guys are at the permit office regularly, it would be easier for your company to do so. Therefore I agreed to your company pulling the permit for me. After the work was completed, I asked Curtis if I needed to call the city inspector to have the final inspection done or would he call for the final inspection instead. His response to me was that he does the final inspection because the city inspectors never come out-all they do is a drive by so he would take care of it for me. I thought that was a conflict of interest, but I have never done this before so I trusted that he was telling me the truth-and then witnessed his inspection which consisted of no more than him looking at the house just to see if there was a roof on it. It is now 2010 and I have just called the city to inquire about permits for another project and learned that my file regarding the final inspection on our roof still shows as incomplete because the final inspection was never done. It is not showing in their system as ever having been completed-even though I paid your company to apply for the permit and for complete service. So Curtis, even though he has been in this industry for over 25+ years (according to your website), had given me false information (lied) on the processes and procedures of the permits and regulations as required by the City of Tampa. And so now, even though I paid your company for complete service, I am the one left holding the bag? This is not acceptable! Prior to your company changing the roof on my house, the trim that goes around the edge of the roof worked beautifully in keeping the rain water off of the wood. Your company replaced the trim when your company replaced the roof. The original trim worked beautifully and the new one does not. When your staff replaced the trim, they placed the new metal flush up against the wood in some areas which is allowing the rain water to run into the wood and is now causing wood damage to our home and garage. I first called your company about this in July 2009. When Curtis came out to look at it, he told me that he would get back with me. I called two weeks later to find out what was happening since I had not heard back from him. He said that he would still have to get back with me, but did not do so for quite some time (many weeks). When I finally spoke with him again, he tried to explain that I had not heard from him because he had never run into this problem before and didn’t know how to fix it. Really? After being in the industry for as long as all of you have been, (I think collectively it is over 50 years), and with your office physically being located in Seminole Heights where there are numerous old wood framed bungalows that have worked on as well, I find his claim very hard to believe. If it’s true that you have never encountered this before, then you should have told me that my house was too difficult for your capabilities and I would have had chosen another company that could handle it to do the work instead. In any case, Curtis finally had members of your staff come out to assess the situation and to devise a solution. It was agreed on that they would put two strips of fiberboard under the trim to bump out the trim in order to get it away from the wood. I waited for months for your staff to come back to finish the project. After I made many calls, it wasn’t until March of 2010 before some work was finally done to try to correct this issue. The morning that your employee, Bill, came to do the repairs, I had to go to work. When I came back from work, I found that the agreed on repairs were not what was done. All he did was glue a piece of fiberboard to the ends of the wood. Now that we finally got some rain again, I see that the problem is still not corrected because the strip of fiberboard is not keeping the rain off of the wood of the house. In addition to that, Bill also told me that he would replace the metal trim in front of the house because when it was initially installed, your staff cut chucks out of it which totally defeated its purpose. The replacement of the metal trim in that area was also never done. When I first came home from the office, he was still working on the house. He disappeared within 10 minutes of my getting here without a word to say that he was leaving and allowing me to look over everything before he left. And while I realize that you are not responsible for the manners that someone is or is not taught during their upbringing, I would expect that while working for you and representing your name and company in this community, that you would have certain protocols in place for the manner in which your employees treat your customers. After all, it’s your reputation and your company that he is representing. AND, the trim on my house still needs to be corrected.
