Stay Dry Roofing of Tampa Bay Inc

Manny Sotolonogo called the day before the scheduled appointment and was exactly on time for the appointment. He took detailed notes for the flat roof replacement job. Some rotten wood needed to be replaced, and he needed the project manager (PM) to see the job site. One week later, I had to call to get the PM to review the work site. He came out the next day and provided a written quote. The quote stated that they would not repair any rotten wood in the soffit. I was told to get another contractor to take care of the rotten soffit wood. I decided to go with another contract (at a 50% higher price) due to complete service, better response and longer warranty.

Roof leak was of mysterious origin. The estimate done by Manny was great, except that he didn't check from below in the attic. I am not sure if my wife stressed the importance of that. Price was great compared to another estimate so we made an appt. Jennifer at the office called to cancel the job the morning of due to an unexpected hospitalization, which was OK. Over a week later, the roofers show up with no appointment, which was bad! They were nice, honest and apparently competent workers. They opened it up and didn't see any rot, although there is some from below. They responded well to my requests to look in attic and admitted they weren't sure if what they did fixed the problem. This seems right to me - it's a tough one. I called the supervisor, Curtis, and he came by the next day - nice guy. He thinks what was done will fix it. If not, we'll call them, and they will work with us.

Their salesman called and set up an appointment at six o'clock on the Thursday following our call. When I got home from work at five o'clock, there was a proposal stuck in our front door with a note to call if we had any questions. I guess the job wasn't important enough to warrant explaining it to us. We went with another company, one whose salesman took the time to treat us as valued customers.

I had a roof leak that caused my hallway ceiling to cave in. I called the roofing company, and they set an appointment, showed up on time, and evaluated the problem. They found the leak to be caused by faulty installation of the roof ridge vent (it had been nailed down instead of screwed and no sealant had been applied to the nails). The representative quoted me the price and gave me a 5% discount for calling from Angie's List. They were congenial and performed the work quickly.

They left the yard clean every day. They were delayed due to rain and in order to finish the job on time they brought extra guys out on Saturday and would have been willing to come out on Sunday, even though that's not a normal work day for them. I appreciated their willingness to work around my schedule and the fact that they were relatively quiet while working and they didn't waste time. The same crew did all the work. They don't sub out any work. George's crew was wonderful. We also have two water heaters in the attic and they were very careful to work around those by marking the roof. They even made sure to leave my bathroom neat on the last day. They seem to take pride in everything they do. They could not have done more to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction in every way. Highly recommended!

I liked everything about them except for the crew. They did not speak English and we felt they did not do a good job the first time. The supervisor did make good on the errors by coming back 3 different times. Incidentally, that crew is not with them any longer! The supervisor happened to also notice a gas leak that needed to be looked at by the gas company!

Mr. Sotolongo, of Stay Dry Roofing, arrived when he said he would. He took me for a "tour" of my roof. His opinion was (after he fixed 3 small problems) was that the roof was good for another 3-5 years. He added that the roof could last years longer if I checked it every year before the rainy season begins. He showed me what to look for and also how to make the repairs. I attempted to pay him for the repairs he made and also for the education. "No, that's not necessary," he said. He merely asked that when the time came, that we need roofing work, we consider Stay Dry Roofing for the job. They will be the first company we call.

I called to leave message for Stay-Dry and was promptly followed up by the secretary, who was very helpful. I followed through with Curtis through the completion of job, who was very helpful as well. In fact, I'd say communication overall with this company has been excellent. I received a VERY fair quote for work to be done, based on several quotes received elsewhere. I was surprised at how QUICKLY I acquired an appointment for a new roof, and was EQUALLY impressed at how QUICKLY and EFFICIENTLY the workers performed the entire job -within 3 DAYS! They were in and out before I knew it, and there was NO debris of any sort left behind. They are clean, fast, efficient, and PROFESSIONAL, just how I like it. My roof looks great, and the new flashing is a BIG improvement. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone considering roof repair or replacement.

Everyone that we dealt with in the company from sales to Superintendent was prompt, polite, and did everything that they said that they would within the time intervals stated. The reroof took 2 full days, from start to finish. The price estimate was the price that we paid. There were no surprises in this process at all, and we are very pleased.

Dan came out, gave an estimate, and left a sample book of roofing material and color choices as well as his cell phone number for any questions we might have. We contacted him back a day later to accept the estimate. The work was started on time, one week later. The job was completed, including removal of old roof, which only took about a day and a half. Upon completion, a company inspector came out and outlined the finished job with us answering any other questions. The workers were very polite, and the work was done very professionally. Very nice job, as well as price! We would recommend them to anyone needing a new quality roof.

On the initial visit for an estimate(free), the representative pointed out clearly why I needed a new roof and even did an emergency patch free of charge to prevent any additional leaking. The workers showed up when they promised and completed the job in a timely manner. They were apologetic about a small delay due to rainy days that I naturally, don't consider their fault. They kept me well informed during every step of the process. This is a great company and every employee I met from the initial representative to the office staff to the workers were happy to answer any questions I had. The quality of the work is excellent. They weren't the cheapest but were the best value for my money and when it's something as important as your roof, you want the best. The men and women of this company fit that bill. I'd highly recommend them (already have) and will hire them again when needed. The Angie's List discount is also a great extra value.

The estimate seemed reasonable for the work involved, especially for all the work around the chimney. The guys did a great job. They completed the job in two days and the bill matched the estimate. We were very impressed with the high quality of the work and the very reasonable price. We will definitely call them again when it's time to replace the roof.

I was forced on short notice to replace my 26 yr old roof so a new insurance company would insure my home when my current company stopped insuring homes in Fl. I wanted to find a good and reliable company to replace my roof at a reasonable price. I requested a bid from a BIG company that said ''we are the biggest roofing contractor in the state of Florida'', yeah, well, they wanted over $6900 to replace my roof. The second bid, from a small local contractor was $5475, still more than I was willing to pay. I heard about Angie's List and decided to try a contractor from the list, Stay-Dry Roofing, I spoke to Curtis and he came out promptly and gave me an estimate. I told him I would need to complete the job by 12/28/05. Over the next two days, they removed the old roofing, laid the felt and completed the job! I can't say enough how pleased I am with their EXCEPTIONAL performance at a REASONABLE price! No nails or old roofing on ground or sign they had been there at all the two days!

THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL AND CLEAN. THEY RESPONDED WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AND THEIR PRICING WAS REASONABLE.

THIS WAS THE ONLY ROOFING SERVICE THAT WOULD SHOW UP FOR AN APPOINTMENT, AND AGREE TO COMPLETE A REPAIR. MANY WOULD ONLY COME FOR A COMPLETE ROOF REPLACEMENT.

MADE THE CALL IN THE MORNING REQUESTING AN ESTIMATE AND CALL WAS RETURNED IN THE AFTERNOON. ESTIMATE WAS GIVEN 9/1/05 (2 DAYS LATER?), OK'D ONE WEEK LATER, AND WORK BEGAN AS AGREED ON 9/21/05. COMPLETED 9/24. EVERYONE, FROM THE FIRST CALL TO THE FINAL INSPECTION WAS PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, AND WHERE THEY SAID THEY'D BE, WHEN THEY SAID THEY'D BE. THE PRICE WAS COMPARABLE TO THE OTHER ESTIMATES. WHY DID I GO WITH THIS COMPANY? THEY'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND THEY USE THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES FOR THE WORK.

THESE GUYS WERE GREAT FROM BEGINNING TO END. I KNEW WITH ALL THE STORMS THEY MAY BE BACKED UP, BUT I EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS AN EMERGENCY NOT BECAUSE I HAD A LEAK BUT BECAUSE I HAD AN ISSUE WITH OUR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE AND MANNY WAS QUICK TO SEND CURTIS AND CURTIS WAS QUICK TO SCHEDULE THE JOB! NICE, PROFESSIONAL AND PROMPT.

THE GENTLEMAN WHO CAME TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE ARRIVED EXACTLY AT SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME. THE OFFICE STAFF WE DEALT WITH WAS VERY EFFICIENT AND COURTEOUS WHEN WE WERE CHOOSING COLORS. THE CREW THAT CAME TO PUT ON THE ROOF ARRIVED ON TIME, AND COMPLETED THE JOB IN THE 2 DAYS THEY HAD TOLD US THEY WOULD. MY YARD WAS LEFT VERY NEAT - NO TRASH, SHINGLES OR PAPERS. MY NEIGHBOR WAS SO IMPRESSED HE HAD THEM DO HIS ROOF SEVERAL WEEKS LATER AND WAS ALSO PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK.

THIS GUY SHOWS UP WHEN PROMISED. VERY PROFESSIONAL AND THE FINAL COST WAS THE EXACT AMOUNT OF THE ESTIMATE.

VERY GOOD JOB, RETURNED PHONE CALLS, PERFORMED JOB ON TIME. ONLY A SLIGHT PROBLEM WITH THE OFFICE STAFF RECORDING AND PULLING PERMITS FOR THE WRONG PROPERTY (THE HOUSE WAS A RENTAL AND THEY HAD RECORDED MY RESIDENCE AS THE WORK LOCATION).

RECEIVED ESTIMATE ON A TIMELY BASIS. IT WAS ONE OF THE HIGHEST ESTIMATES I RECEIVED. MY ONLY COMMENT ABOUT THIS COMPANY IS THE LADY WHO ANSWERED THEIR PHONE IS REALLY RUDE, SHE WAS SO RUDE I ALMOST DIDN'T HAVE THEM COME OUT TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE.

VERY PROFESSIONAL. CALLED BACK IMMEDIATELY, SCHEDULED THE INSTALLATION QUICKLY, AND PERFORMED THE WORK IN JUST OVER A DAY. SPENT A FEW EXTRA MINUTES CLEANING UP AFTER THEMSELVES, WHICH WAS A VERY NICE TOUCH.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. FROM THEIR SALES PERSON, CREW LEADER TO THE FIELD MANAGER, THIS COMPANY KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT QUALITY AND SERVICE. CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE POSITIVE EXPERIENCE, WOULD USE STAY DRY AGAIN WITHOUT HESITATION.

MR. SOTOLONGO WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, SHOWED UP ON TIME, AND WAS VERY PERSONABLE. HE CHECKED THE ROOF LEAK, DID SOME MINOR REPAIRS TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO ENTRY POINT FOR WATER. SINCE THE WORK WAS SO MINOR, HE DIDN'T CHARGE FOR ANYTHING. I'LL DEFINITELY MAKE THEM MY FIRST CALL IF I HAVE ANY FUTURE ROOF PROBLEMS.
