Company was extremely unresponsive to efforts to make appointment for work, it required 5 phone calls , a fax and an email just to set up the appointment for the work, and every contact was made from the client calling them, not them calling back. Once appointment was finally set, workers arrived 6 hours late. Work was incomplete when workers said they were done and asked for payment. It was then pointed out by us that they had only replaced a portion of the problem area and not the section indicated needed repair by their original quote, so they went back and completed the job.

The roof was really dirty and overdue for re-coating. They spent a day pressure-washing. The coat was put on the next day.

They were very pleasant, very efficient, and on time. When I do have the work done, it will be with them. Even if someone came in with a lower bid, I will only use Stay Dry Roofing.
Description of Work: They came out to take a look at my roof and said what the condition was 4 years ago. They told me that my roof was probably going to be good for 5-6 years. They gave me an estimate and said that the prices may double in the future.

They did a very good job. They were punctual. I had a couple of estimates and I went with them. The biggest problem I had was that it started raining when they started the work, so the work got delayed by many days. The people who came were very courteous, I talked a lot with them and the team leader was very helpful. They cleaned up after themselves, but they had not done it perfectly. Overall they were good. They kind of underestimated the cost and they worked on it later. The quality of work was excellent and they were very professional. I recommend them highly.
Description of Work: I hired them to do roofing and I got to now about them through Angie’s list.

They arrived at the house on 6/15 (a few weeks after the estimate was given) to do the work agreed upon. They did NOT do the work agreed upon. They took the unsuccessful short cuts described above. They called a few days later to request payment. At that time, I told them the work was unacceptable. They caused more damage to the roof than was present before they did "their work". They agreed to come back to the house that day. They did not keep their word and still have not returned to the house (after 2 weeks) to repair their unacceptable work.
Description of Work: Stay Dry was supposed to remove the bottom layer of shingles to detach a thin metal strip at the edge of the roof to access a thin strip of wood which was rotting behind the metal strip. Instead, they left the shingles and metal strip in place. They simply pryed the metal strip away from the wood far enough to jam the new wood behind it. In the process they bent the metal strip so significantly in dozens of places and left large gaps between the metal and wood which are supposed to be snug (to prevent water, mold and animals from getting in the new spaces their laziness created).

I was pleased with their service. The estimator came out when he said he would be here and gave me an estimate which I compared to some other information I had. We set up a date and his crew came up early in the morning, worked hard all day long and finished up that same day. They didn’t cleanup quite as well as they could have done after they had finished the job. I got as good a price as I could have gotten.

I obtained Stay Dry's name from Angie's List. I called for an estimate. They responded promptly with detailed written quotes. Their prices were very close to another company that came for an estimate but I selected them because they were lower in price and would start right away. I wanted to complete the job before the start of hurricane season. They completed the job in 5 days. The two workers were very pleasant, seemed to know exactly what they were doing, kept our place neat and cleaned up nicely when they were finished. I appreciated the professionalism, promptness and upfront attitude.
Description of Work: The re-roofed my entire house and garage which included both shingle and flat roof. They replaced all deteriorated wood under the roof plus replaced all vents, pipe flashing and valley metal for each trim.

Their quality of work was good but I wasn't quite happy with the price. Their cleanup was above average, and I'm still cleaning some of the debris around the job site, like the old tar paper that they tore off. They were very quick and responsive. When I talked to them initially, I wanted to be up there with them when they got started, but they actually started three days ahead of time. Since I couldn't be there, they did take some pictures, but they took only four. I wish I was there to see what the damage was. I talked with them personally but I had to call them.
Description of Work: I used Stay Dry Roofing to put a new roof for me in Tampa. They removed the existing shingle and replaced the bad lumber, put on new shingles and a new skylight - they basically replaced the whole roof.

Based on their bid, positive reviews on Angie's List, and general fatigue from previous bidding processes, I went with Stay-Dry Roofing without getting any other bids. Their quote was $720 minus %5 for Angie's List members. ~ Appointment scheduling was smooth, and a date was set soon after the contract was signed. Rainy days prior to our appointment forced a delay, no problem to us other than they never called to let us know. The day after the original work was to be performed, we received a bill in the mail. Obviously a disconnect between the office and the crews. ~ A few days later, two workers showed up promptly at 8am without notification. They worked hard all morning and continued to work to finish the job even though it started raining towards the end. I had concerns about rotted sheathing, but they said it was all sound. They caulked the seams and chimney cracks, cleaned up well and asked if I would be okay with applying more caulk once everything dried out. That was fine with me, so they gave me a tube of caulk for that purpose. ~ That weekend I pulled down the soffit that had warped from years of water exposure and found the sheathing at the lower corner of the chimney had indeed rotted away, leaving an 8" diameter hole. This was under the area of the original flashing which was not removed, so perhaps they couldn't tell the wood was missing. The estimating manager said a crew chief would call me right back. The end of the day came with no return call, forcing me to follow-up. A different crew came out within a day or so and nailed 2x4 blocking from the underside to shore up the hole. Problem solved, right? Wrong. When I got on the roof to apply more caulk to the flashing, I noticed a nail had popped through the newly replaced shingles, presumably when the 2x4 blocking was installed. In addition, an upper corner of the new chimney flashing had a large gap compared to the other corners. Queue another series of calls and follow-ups. ~ A single worker showed up the next day to 'fix' the flashing and replace the shingle (or so I thought). When I looked at the work more closely a few days later, I realized the shingle that was 'replaced' was not; one of the top layer tabs was merely torn off and glued down over the nail hole. Obviously this isn't the right way to fix it, but I was tired of the whole process by this point, so I decided to see if the leak persisted before pursuing it. ~ PROS: * No leak detected in 8 months since repair * Work done in a timely manner * Price seemed fair * Good color match to orig 3 yr old roof * Returned quickly to address issues ~ CONS: * Poor communication with customer and between crews and office * Poor quality control ~~~ The goal was met (no leak), however it took several follow-up calls and visits to get there. I would consider them again but would get other bids as well. See pics for examples of finished work quality. Grade: B-

Responded quickly to request for a quote, Called to tell me he was hung up in traffic (10 min) late. Provided complete qoute, explained options, provided samples and explained code issues. Once qoute was accepted, established a start date and finish date with +/- 1/2 day float. Started work on time. Finished work on time. Clean-up was very good. Crew were very good and professional. Provided additional work to replace damaged plywood sub-roof but area was fairly small so they did not charge for this extra work.

Very professional and on time for the estimate, very thorough. Decision to go with another company that included peel/stick waterproofing under shingles as recommended by My Safe Florida Homes inspection.
Description of Work: Estimate for re-roof for removal of existing shingles, new 2 layers of 15 ply, new 6" eave tril, new fiberglass shingle (GAF) dimension, 5 year workmanship and 30 year manufacturers warranty. Proposal included 30' Cobra III ridge vent system and replacement of 2x2 skylight. Did offer an Angie's List discount. Inquired about seam taping recommendation from My Safe Florida Homes, and would have been additional $7 per ft.

The guys were great! Our house is two stories on stilts and I'm nervous of heights so while they were up on the roof they even stained another small portion of fascia board that we had replaced on our own. It took only a minute or two for them to do it but, it meant a LOT to us. They worked hard, quickly, and efficiently. They even recommended a rain gutter contractor for us to consider.

The estimate, communication and scheduling were great. I saw mixed reviews about that process in other comments but I found these guys to be very responsive. The quote was competitive (we had 4 companies provide estimates). The job started at 9am and was complete by 3pm. The crew was polite, respectful and cleaned everything up once they finished. The superintendent inspected the job a few days later and collected payment. My one concern is that the repairs for the flat roof were not completely detailed for us. My expectation was that the flat roof would have a good pitch afterward and pool basically no water. We were told after the fact that the re-roof just fixes the shingles and creates a small pitch. There may be some minor pooling, but as long as the water is gone within 48 hours from evaporation they consider that acceptable. The re-roof does not change the contour of the roof, just the state of the shingles. So...we'll keep an eye out when it rains a little harder come rainy season! I was also impressed that the inspector (from Stay Dry) noticed an area of the roof where he thought they had done work previously. As we are new to the house I told him I had no idea if they had done work there, but he looked at it, determined they had, and said he would come out to tighten up a couple of spots. Hopefully they follow through on that one. We would use these guys again as of now...they came highly recommended by Angie's List and by our neighbors.
Description of Work: Replace a flat roof and ridge vent on main part of the house. The crew tore up the old flat roof area that had been pooling water and re-roofed it with new asphalt strips. They also inspected the decking for any rot (found none). In addition, we had a cheap ridge vent on the top of our house replaced that had been leaking a bit.

The roof is a flat roof which is a difficult installation. Came home during installation and it had started raining. Noted that a certain place on the roof started pooling water. Called the foreman who came out and had his team repair the roof where it was causing the water to pool. Fortunately they did this and handled it well. The only problem now is that there is still one small spot pooling water, but in their defense, we have not called them back out to fix it. Would work with them again.
Description of Work: Removed existing build up, roof and all debris. Applied one layer of red rosin paper as required. Applied underlayment of 43# layer base sheet. Replaced all vent and pipe flashing. Applied two layers of fiber glass with hot asphalt. Applied cap sheet, modified bitumen. Posted necessary permits.
