Response from Small Jobs Electric
Our company has never had an appointment with this reviewer with that name or address. I can only assume that this is the person who contacted us last week because she wanted an estimate at her home. We explained at the beginning of the call that we would be happy to send someone out and informed her that we have a fee for the estimate of $29 which covers our costs in sending someone out however, should she decide to have the work done that fee would be applied towards the work. She was very unhappy about the $29 fee for the estimate and said that unless we came out for free she was going to give us an F on Angie's List. We listened very politely to her yell at us about the charge for over 5 minutes on the phone (sometimes people just want to vent and/or want a listening ear) and afterwards we thanked her for expressing herself and for her opinion at which point she hung up on us! I have to say that I am also a consumer and a member of Angie's List. I recognize that companies have the right to set their pricing and I try not to dictate to others (especially if I am not in their line of work) how I feel they should price for their work. When I call a company whose information I received from Angie's List and I am not comfortable with the way they charge or what they charge, I thank them politely for their time and move on. There is absolutely no need to yell, abuse or even threaten others with our Angie's List memberships! It's not fair to the company reviewed who has the absolute right to cover their expenses in getting someone out to our homes (just like we have the right not to use them) and it's not fair to our fellow members who don't get a fair review of the company!
