Day of installation air handler model number did not match what was ordered. The owner waived this away as a mistake on his part. Price quoted with utility company rebate - but I never signed over rebate to company. Wonder whose signature is on the rebate? Then the fun begins: rescheduling of several service calls; improperly balanced air flow; ducts leaking. Thermostat issue 1 then thermostat issue 2 (loose wire from previous tech); leaking compressor - leak found after 3 refrigerant fills and 3 separate service calls - compressor replaced; owner said first HEPA filter change was on him but company attempted to charge. High humidity - adjusted fan setting in air handler and opened some vents - attempted to charge $300 for a stated $69 service call while trying to sell maintenance plans - tech said manufacturer's warranties would be voided if no plan was purchased!
Description of Work: Replaced heat pump and air handler, with continuous troubleshooting since installation in May 2006

AFTER IMPROPERLY INSTALLING A MOTOR THAT SHOULD HAVE LASTED 20 YEARS, THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME $900 FOR $130 WORTH OF PARTS. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SHEPPARD A/C AGAIN.
Description of Work: SIX YEARS AGO THEY INSTALLED A BLOWER MOTOR. THREE MONTHS AGO IT FAILED. THE TECHNICIAN FROM SHEPPARD BROUGHT THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY DOWN FROM THE ATTIC. THE MOTOR HAD BEEN IMPROPERLY MOUNTED BY SHEPPARD SIX YEARS EARLIER USING TINY ''WOOD SCREWS'' IN SHEET METAL. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THIS CAUSED THE MOTOR TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY AND FAIL. BEING AN ENGINEER, I AGREED WITH HIS PROGNOSIS. THEY GAVE ME A PRICE OF $900 WITHOUT LABOR. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE SAME PARTS (MOTOR, MOUNT, WHEEL) FOR $130 AND DID IT MYSELF. $130 IS NOT A TYPO.

VERY, VERY, VERY BAD. THEIR ANALYSIS IS UNIFORMLY WRONG. THEY APPEAR TO BE LOOKING TO REPLACE ENTIRE SYSTEMS AND ARE EVIDENTLY PREPARED TO SAY WHATEVER IT TAKES TO SCARE THE USER INTO DOING THAT.
Description of Work: I HAVE HAD A TWICE A YEAR MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH THESE PEOPLE FOR TWO YEARS. EVERY TIME THEY HAVE SENT A GUY OUT, HE HAS IDENTIFIED NONEXISTENT PROBLEMS, LIKE LEAKING SYSTEM, ATTIC PIPES NEED WRAPPING, CONDENSER COIL IS FALLING APART, ETC. I HAVE TWICE HAD THEIR ANALYSIS CHECKED BY OTHER VENDORS AT MY EXPENSE AND TWICE THEY WERE WRONG. I HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE PHONE AND WRITTEN DISCUSSIONS WITH NOLAN, WHO CAME OVER HIMSELF AND SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM.
