+ -1 moreResidential Roofing had a great reference from Angie's List, BBB, and a friend's recommendation, who had Residential Roofing do some work for his family. Residential Roofing started out great. Came to the house and explained the other bids I got, and showed where he could more (gazzebo and office) for the same price. With all the good word, I went with the company. June he picked up a check for a down payment, and started work. Then things went down hill. It took four more months to finish the jobs. After many (no shows) James wanted an advance and waiting for work to be done, I left angry. Last week (March 30th, I had an electrician in to install a fan. When he was in the attic looking for electric lines, he told me that one of the scuppers (Drain) was leaking and causing a painted ceiling to have mildew stains. Upon checking another part of the roof, a special coating that was suppose to be on the roof lifting up from the roof and looked like pieces instead. I called Residential Roofing to get him to come over and see what happened and his telephones have been disconnected.
Description of Work: I contracted with Residential Roofing in June 2011 to re-roof my main house (flat and shingled roofs) my garage (shingle), the office and gazzebo (both shingles.) Within the first four weeks of the contract, Residential Roofing finished the garage and gazzebo. Then I saw nothing of Residential Roofing for three and half months. Jim called and asked for an advance (to pay bills and family matters) after he received his initial payment. I gave it to him assuming he would make my roofs first. I did not hear from the company for a month, when the owner asked for an additional draw. I said no. I did not hear from him nor did his workers show up to finish the main roof. After getting a friend to call James, calls back and forth for two weeks, James sent his crew out to finish the main roof. James had told me he was having family problems and some of the money went to his wife's care. After Residential Roofing came to finish, James brought back one helper and tried to finish the work himself. I checked the roof when they were finishe (knowing little about roofs) and James told me everything was done right. October 11, 2011, we had a final meeting. I paid James the amount left on the contract. He said he had to spend more money on supplies and wanted an additional. He wanted $3,600.00 dollars. To get an end to this problem, I agreed to splitting the difference with him. That day, he was paid in full.
