1st. problem found float switch tripped due ongoing freezing unit. 2nd found freon leak at ID coil. Tech made sound recommendations on what actions should be taken. 3lbs of freon and can of stop leak. checked pressures amps & voltage, oiled motors and serviced drains.

He will reccomend me to buy the parts myself to save money. They are excellent. He was in and out and the technician was very polite and efficient.

After purchasing a 7yr old condo, I immediately realized the previous owner didn't maintian their existing AC unit and called REM to give me an estimate on replacing it. I also received 2 additional estimates, but chose REM to install the new Heat/AC unit in my condo because of their outstanding knowledge, professionalism and because they made me feel comfortable with such a large purchase without trying to upsell me on items that were unnecessary. Additionally, I had a short timeline to work with and they were able to install the new unit the very next day. I am so happy with their installation and the care that they took to ensure everything was perfect before leaving. I even asked them to adjust the blower so that more air could get back to warmer rooms in my condo and they accomodated my request. I would highly recommend REM and their services.

REM contacted the tenant and scheduled an appointment with her next day. The tenant tells me that the service person is nice to work with, professional, respectful. As a landlord REM is great to work with. They keep me informed every step of the way and call with quotes before any work is started. After the work is completed I am able to pay with CC over the phone which is convenient for me.

The tech was professional, on time and thorough. We were expecting a costly repair but it turned out to be a minor fix which makes us feel the company is very trustworthy.

REM did an outstanding job from the first appointment for an estimate (on Oct. 15) to the complete installation of the new heat pump package (on Oct. 29). During the first appointment, Joe Mincher, Jr. helped me decide what kind of unit would suit my property and my needs. He asked about my priorities in using heat and A/C and what kind of temperatures I wanted to maintain in the house, and he really listened to my answers. He explained my options based on my needs,and he explained how heat pumps work. He checked on my duct work and the available space for a new unit and assessed the condition of the old unit. After I decided what kind of unit seemed best for me, he explained the pricing, including a rebate from TECO and a discount for Angie?s List members as well as for existing customers of REM. (I have used this company before for regular maintenance and repair of my old unit.) He scheduled an appointment for the replacement at a time convenient for me and indicated that three experienced employees would do the job and that he would personally return that day to test the new system and show me how to operate it. He obtained a permit from the county before the work began. Everything went as scheduled on the day of the installation. The three experienced workers were on time and carried out all the steps that the Joe had indicated. They were polite and careful, putting down covers on the carpet when they were indoors to deal with the duct work so as to keep everything clean. They even moved some file cabinets that I couldn?t move ahead of time to give them access to the attic, and they put them back when they were finished. When Joe returned, he made sure that everything was working properly and even measured the temperature of the heat blowing out of the vents. Though one of the workers had explained the thermostat as he installed it, Joe showed me some additional features and made sure that I understood and felt comfortable with everything. He arranged to have the county inspection to follow up on the job and left the necessary paperwork for the inspector. I am very pleased with this company?s professionalism, competence, and concern for customers? needs. And I really like the fact that Joe listened to what I needed/wanted and didn?t try to pressure me into buying something that might not have been suitable for me.

We had a new AC system that was installed 5 years ago by 1hr air, and it was so very poorly installed that the unit was damaged by mold and not cooling properly. Due to this costly bad experience, I joined Angie's List and otained about 6 estimates. After calling REM for a free estimate, the owner's son (J.) came out to inspect the current system. He was very punctual and professional. He sat and listened to my concerns and was very attentive when I told him of our troubles with the old system and the company that did the shoddy installation. I especially liked the idea that this company had been a family business for over 20 years with long-term employees who were not subcontractors, and that the owners went out to meet their clients. When he did the inspection, he actually took a ladder and crawled up into our very cramped and hot attic space and did an assessment. REM was the only company out of the several I received estimates from to do this. He was quick to notice several flaws from the old installation, and pointed them out. Most of these flaws I had already known, but did not mention, so I knew he was experienced. After the initial inspection, he said he would get back to me with the estimate of what needed to be done. After a few days, I received an estimate along with his recommendations for getting the house adequately cooled. He had also drawn a schematic of my home's layout, which is required for all new installs, but again, REM was one of 2 companies from the original 6 estimates to do this. J. also did some research into which unit would be the best fit for my home, as the prior model sold to us 5 years before was actually too small to effectively cool our house. He was very patient in gathering info and never pressured me at all at any time. After a month of getting other estimates from other companies, I went with REM, and scheduled the installation on a Friday, and they came 3 days later on Monday. The crew arrived on time. They were respectful of my property and my requests (no smoking). They removed the crappy unit and installed the new one. When the interior work needed to be done, they laid protective covers on my hardwood flooring. They also noted that the electrical system was incorrect again from previous install, and corrected it. All new ductwork was completed and sealed with mastic and not just tape. Incidentally, we had an area of water leakage on the ceiling which we had unsuccessfully tried to locate in the past, but during this time, one of the installers noted it was leakage of the tube near one of the eaves of the house which only needed to be mended with plumbing type tape, and this was done as a great courtesy to me. Afterwards, they cleaned up the interor or the house, swept floors, removed all debris, and showed me how to operate new system. A few weeks later, the county came out to inspect their work. There were 2 minor problems, one was the concrete slab needed to be tied down ( I had requested 2 slabs to elevate the unit from flooding due to grading of the house) and the 2nd was that the back wall of the unit in the attic portion needed to be closed off separately from the attic. Both of these repairs were performed in a timely manner, and I received a passing inspection from the county. All in all, I felt like I was treated in a professional way, and not made to feel like I had no clue about HVAC systems ( i'm a woman, lol). Of course, I had done my research, and carefully took my time to determine which company would fit my needs, but REM surpassed all of my expectations in every way. Our home has never been adequately cooled until now, and I love the humidity control as well.

They were great. They were very polite and would defiantly use them again. They came within an hour of calling and were very accommodating.

Super great service, very impressed! I was especially happy with the technician that came out named Christopher. He was extremely helpful and goes out of his way to answer any of the questions you might have. He was very polite. Although it wasn't what I had originally had them out for I mentioned to Christopher a rattling noise I was hearing. When I returned he had gotten out his ladder and found a register that was the issue and fixed it. He is probably the most polite repair man I have ever had at my house.

We had used REM in the past and used them again this year to perform an annual inspection on our 2 units and to repair one of them which was blowing warm air. When we noticed the warm air on Saturday, I called REM that Saturday morning and actually spoke with someone who was willing to have it serviced that day. Instead, we shut down the one unit and scheduled an appointment for the following Monday (when Tampa was essentially shut down due a scare over tropical storm Isaac). The technician came by during the time window promised despite the inclement weather, fixed the unit that was blowing warm air (replacing a switch) and did the annual inspection on both. He took his time, was very neat (including wearing footies over his shows when he was in the house), polite and professional.

Air conditioner quit working sometime on Saturday, and we noticed it just as we were going to bed. I called REP on Sunday afternoon, and found they were open, and that the call out for Sunday was not too much more expensive than a weekday call out. They had several jobs for their Sunday technician and told me to expect someone between 3:00 and 5:00. The technician came just before 3:00 and left about 4:30. He was very pleasant and professional. When we need work again, I'd love to have Chris P to show up!

After 12 years our Rheem unit died. We called REM and they were early . The unit needed to be replaced but could be fixed temporarily. Joe was out quickly to give us an estimate and set a date, the following Tuesday, to replace. They were early and went right to work. They used drop cloths inside, checked on me to be sure I was handling the heat okay and built bridges over the duct work. I am very impressed. The inspector told me that he loves to inspect REM jobs because they are clean,neat, correct and easy to inspect.

Dennis came to the house as scheduled in the morning. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. We really can't say enough good things about him. We had used another company (Air Rescue) several times prior to REM, and just never felt that great about their service so we checked out Angie's List, read the reviews and decided to try REM this time. Boy, are we glad we did!!! Again, very professional and very reasonably priced (did not try to "sell" us other services) did not tell us we needed other things done. We just had them coming to do a tune-up, to make sure the AC would be running well for the summer. Dennis ended up cleaning and sealing the area around our air handler (for a very nominal fee (compared to the thousands of dollars the previous company we used wanted to charge us to put in a whole "system" around the handler).....(we were the one's who mentioned the handler issues- of course he noticed them, but again he did not try to sell us anything..) Will definately be using REM again and highly recommend them to anyone!

I knew that the air conditioner was on its last leg because it was 18 years old and had not been kept in good shape by the previous homeowners. The unit died on Tuesday afternoon. I checked Angie's List and chose this company based on rating and reviews. I was not disappointed. A repair/salesman arrived at the house within 45 minutes of my initial call. He was able to perform enough work so that the unit would continue function until 8:30 am when he said the servicemen would arrive. True to his word five servicemen arrived at exactly 8:30am and began working. They were accompanied by a supervisor and all were courteous perfessionals who kept me abreast of all the work that was being performed. The work was completed extremely well and within a reasonable amount of time (for the size of the job). They even did extra things like : covering a car parked in the garage and the tile floors with drop cloths when they had to work indoors. They straightened up before they left. It was like they were never here! I am extremely pleased with their performance and the air conditioner itself. I recommend this company with no reservation.

We decided to replace a 24 year old Carrier unit before the summer; we got tired of spending $500 every year fix this or that. The company that had fixed our AC unit for the last couple of times provided a quote for an Amana, which was not what we wanted. Then a second quote did not go very well; we signed up at the home improvement big box for them to send one of their contractors. After some persuasion they left an informal quote and said to call them when we were ready and the price might be even lower. Frustration set in, and an unexpected business trip for one of us led to delaying the decision. Well, the 24 year old unit did not make it; on a Saturday afternoon it stopped blowing cold air. Not knowing who to call, I signed up to Angie's list and read some of the reviews. On the following Sunday I contacted REM and scheduled a meeting for Monday. Joe showed up on time and provided a full and detailed quote with options for which equipment I would like based on price and SEER. He did a full inspection of the system outside, inside, and in the attic. He asked if I experienced any issues with the AC overall when it was working. I informed him that some guests had mentioned one room was hotter than the other. He recommended installing new return, and enlarging another. He also recommended adjusting the ducts to provide more air to the bedroom in question (the last stop for the air duct). The quote provided included all of these suggestions and others, including the necessary changes to comply with existing codes. Best of all, REM's price was lower than the big box contractor. After a friendly conversation and explanations on AC, which was very instructional, we signed up and scheduled the installation for the next day. On the installation day, the crew showed up on time and with extreme professionalism. They asked NO questions on how/where/if to do their job - they knew what they were doing, and provided a sense of confidence. About 4PM Joe showed up for the inspection, which included the cleanliness of the crew, a through walk to all areas, testing, etc. It was obvious Joe runs a "tight ship” and a professional one as well. One of the crew members showed me how to use my new programmable thermostat and gave me the materials for a later read if needed. Overall, the service provided by REM was impeccable! The County inspected a week later and found no issues. We received the 10 year warranty later in the mail. I only hope the Rheem unit lasts at least half of what the old Carrier did. I also have to mention I do not believe I would have been able to make the decision alone (one of us was still out-of-town) without Angie's list. Thanks to everyone who wrote great reviews that led me to REM Air Conditioning.

REM installed a new condensing unit and evaporator coil. They gave an estimate the same day that I contacted them and did the installation within two days. The crew provided excellent service.

I requested the same technician. He has been completely honest about the repairs he's made on the A/C. He insisted I purchase a filter to replace the old one. He wasn't trying to sell me warranties, or pick my pocket. He had the skill level, and went about the job. We have an American Standard Heat Pump. He would replace it with a REM, but he didn't try to sell me one. The REM company has been here, a long time in Tampa. In the past, we tried to use a couple other companies on Angie's List, and they were late. I had to cancel, and they were upset.

Did what they said they were going to do. Very professional. Did my research and these folks stood out - from the way the estimate was conducted to the back and forth comparison with other contractors. They disclosed everything well and when their quote was fully compared to all others it was right in line (perhaps a small premium - but, definitely worth it considering the confidence they inspired). Prompt and helpful. Great job overall.

The first time I used them was year ago. They were friendly and did a good job.

We interviewed and researched and spent a ton of time trying to choose the right company. The team at REM was absolutely top notch. Joe (one of the owners) explained everything in great detail. He even came out before and after the install to double check a few things and to give our old unit a kick-start, so that we could be comfortable for the few days before their install. We've now had the unit for over six months and could not be happier. REM is responsible, dependable and as honest and integrity-filled as you can get. Save yourself the time, energy and headaches of researching the gazillion A/C companies in the Bay Area. REM is the perfect choice. Update 04/17/2013: We're at the two-year mark and had a minor issue. We left a message late at night and REM had someone out here by 9:00am the next morning. Amazing. It was a bit tricky figuring out the issue, but REM's team was diligent and made sure all was cool quickly. All was under warranty and they were speedy, friendly and thorough. Great company that has made our life easy even two years after install. Thank you REM!
