I love REM, they do great work. They are very punctual, and do a very thorough job on the estimate and explain everything during that time, that way there are no surprises, and I always pay what they say I will, no surprise costs. They always clean up, and they work very well together as a team. They are good to each other and respectful to my home. I have used them 3 times, and will continue to use them in the future. It is clear that they take pride in what they are doing. They even took all their trash with them rather than pile it into my trash can.
Description of Work: They came out and did an extensive check on my A/C, and they fixed the problems with the A/C.

I called and was given an appointment within the hour which was awesome, and it wasn't even an emergency called. The serviceman who came out (Christopher) was very knowledgeable and worked very diligently about fixing my problem (my furnace was dumping water all over my garage). They were able to explain the problem but their solution was unfortunately an entire system replacement. I was given a quote of $7,500 for the system replacement, and the service fee for the day was $230. So they are kind of pricey, but they do good work. I would recommend them for services but advise you to shop around for better prices.

AC went and we knew we had it get it fixed fast. Went with REM because of the great reviews here. Christopher showed up less than 45 minutes later. He worked quickly and was professional. The diagnoses was a bad blower motor; the part was under warranty and REM handled exchanging out the part and showed up the next day to do the install. I thought the total was a little high but after doing some research it seems it wasn't too out of whack. All in all a pretty painless experience. I would use them again.

I called this company and explained the situation to the receptionist. She explained that she would have talk with her supervisor before being able to send someone out to look at it the unit. This is an emergency situation and since the parts and labor are still under warranty I expect that this company should come to my home and fix issue. It has been a little less than a month since they did the repair work and it has now gone out and is no longer blowing out cold air. The repairman assured me that the parts that needed to be replaced had nothing to do with the mold issue. Up to yesterday (Sunday) evening there was cold blowing, but now I am back to the same issue where the fan is blowing but no cold air is coming out. If they treat their customers right, and they honor what they said they would do they should be able to get to my house in an emergency situation. I do not understand why she needed to speak with a manager to send someone out to fulfill their agreement.
Description of Work: I had hired this company to repair our Air Conditioning unit a few weeks ago. They had replaced a couple of parts and it had fixed the issue. Since then, the A/C unit went out today 10/21/13. All of the parts and labor are still under warranty.

The customer did call on 10/21/2013 in the morning and she was advised that we would send a technician out and not charge for a service call ; but if the repairs needed were not related to what we had fixed previously then there would be charges for that repair. The customer was not happy with the explanation of charges so we advised her we would have a supervisor call her ; but we would put her the schedule for service. We arrived around 4pm on 10/21/2013 and found a tripped breaker for the outside unit. We reset the breaker and checked the system and everything was working ok. We also did not charge for the service. We are sorry the customer was dissatisfied . As a company we take pride in customer service.

The arrived on time with a crew of 6 and did a very professional job. Done by 3 PM. They even adjusted the airflow in my ducts to bring more cool air to the 2nd story of our home.

They came back twice because they created a little problem and they were doing the maintenance when they came back two times to fix it with no charge, so it was a really good experience. I would absolutely use them again.

My air conditioner went out Sunday night at around 8:30pm ( I live in Florida). I called around for the "24/7" emergency with no success; the companies either did not answer phone or did not have any available service until Monday after 2pm. I called REM Monday morning at 7:30am and schedule the first available between 10:00- 2pm. I recall the women was non-reactive with my desperation, stating we have people who have been out of air for over a week. I did not really feel good about that comment, but surrendered and scheduled the 10am-2pm in the meantime calling others to see if I could get some one out earlier. The women called back with in 10 minutes and told me she has a cancellation and could have someone out there by 8:30am that morning ( by that time it would of been in the next 30 minutes). The service tech arrived around 8:20 am and was very professional and calm. He thoroughly checked the system before diagnosing the situation or making any judgment calls. He clearly stated what he found and how much it is and options on what I can do. My air was up an running by 9:30am. I felt that they may not have been the least expensive but I got fair and quality service.

Both technicians were great, they clearly took pride in their work and tried to do their best. I was treated with respect. However, I'm a little skeptical that a pound of freon costs $255. Especially since the second pound of freon was $90. Also, my 10 yr old thermostat is too complicated for this company to figure out how to turn off the "Call for maintenance" flashing warning. They did offer to replace it for around $300. Either the Home Team inspection service vastly underestimated the state of disrepair of my air conditioning, or I got ripped off. One may never know, as both companies have good reviews on Angie's List.

The owner came out and went over all details thoroughly and sent a team of four a day later. While my compressor was not functioning properly, and so we would stay cool while waiting for the day to arrive, he installed a new fan. Everything went like clockwork and they were extremely professional, courteous, neat and did an above and beyond fantastic job. in 6 hours. That includes building a stand, an enclosure, a new thermostat, a UV light and putting on a new door and putting up a new light fixture. They did not charge me extra for some items I listed. I was treated as if it were their own house. I have already had them over to my sons' house and we are both thrilled to have peace of mind. My only wish is that I would have discovered them 13 years ago.

My husband called REM at 7:30 this am (Sun), spoke to Chris who arranged to be at our house at 10:30 or so. We had purchased our Rheem unit from REM in June 2010 and we have high regard for this company!! Chris told us the blower motor module was not working and replaced it right then as he had one in his truck (Yeah!) Lucky for us we had purchased an extended parts & labor warranty so the $600 part was installed at no charge other than the weekend call rate (which seems a little high, but hey, we needed our air fixed today...lol) As always, Chris was prompt, efficient, personable, explained everything and provided great professional service. REM has been doing our annual service and the service techs have always done a stellar job. As other reviewers have stated, they tell you what the issue is but does not try to up sell you on anything. When we had our unit installed in 2010, our experience was exactly as other reviewers stated. Excellent price, excellent installation experience and Joe's follow up was superb. A dependable honest company does not come along everyday I know from my past experience. I am very happy a co-worker recommended them to us in 2010. I called this morning for a tune-up for my AC and the technician Christopher arrived a few hours later (on schedule). He was very professional and provided an explanation as to what he was doing and kept me informed on everything. No pressure to buy a new system and with a 13 year old system, he could have easily done that. The company I had perform my last tune-up spent most of the time telling me that it wouldn't last more than a couple months and that was a year ago. I appreciated the outstanding service I received and if REM's employees are as pleasant as Christopher, they should be proud of their company. I would definitely use them again.

Chris came out last month tp perform this year's service. The office called in advance to let me know he was on the way. He showed up at the scheduled time. He was very courteous. I have five return vents for which I had purchased the filters but had not gotten around to installing them. Chris offered to swap out the filters for me, which he did. I highly recommend REM.
Description of Work: I've used REM A/C for years. I have two a/c heat pumps, one for each floor. REM replaced the original units several years ago and I use them for annual tune-up services. They've always shown up on time, complete the work promtly and clean up before they leave.

They showed up on time. laid drop clothes though out . The crew knew what they were doing and provided a sense of confidence. Cleaned up and explained the new thermostat. Tested the system . Overall , the service provided by REM was impeccable. The county inspected and said they did a great job.
Description of Work: Replaced an 18 old air conditioner(heat pump), new thermostat, new copper lines. Reconfigured ductwork our ductwork to supply air where needed. We have been trying for years to get the air flow fixed and REM was the first company to identify the problem and provide the necssary adjustments.

Our air conditioning unit stopped working on 4/15/13. We called REM - they had installed a unit several years ago and had been providing the yearly cleaning and maintenance of both units. They had provided good service at a reasonable price in the past. I was able to get an appointment for that same day. The technician arrived and started to trouble shoot the system. After an hour, he determined there was a break in the low voltage line to the outside compressor. He kept searching for the break, but spent half his time on his cell phone. I told him that we had recently had some roof repairs done that might have cut the line. (Another story) He started pulling the line out from the siding of the home and discovered the break. He then called for a more senior and experienced technician who arrived (now the 1st tech had been there 2 hours). Together they kept walking from the attic to the outside. I finally approached to ask what they were doing. They couldn't figure out if they were going to run a new line in an entirely different direction or just splice in a line. I told them to splice it and put it back just the way it was before. That's when they told me the bill was going to be $ 720. I told them to finish the work and then we would talk. They finished at 6:00 PM (4 hrs after the original tech arrived) and presented me with a bill for $ 720. (He included in the final bill the "estimate of repairs for $ 720". Shouldn't the estimate have been provided earlier in the call rather than at the end of the call?) So for the last 2 hours I was being charged $ 240 per hour. I told them to break the bill out for parts and labor and was told they don't do that. They simply charged a flat rate of $ 120 per hour per technician for a simple break in a line that should have been fixed in under two hours by one technician. I told him I wanted to speak to their supervisor. I told the supervisor that it was wrong to charge so much and I wanted the bill reduced. He refused to move and told me "that I would be shocked to see his rate if he had come out". I paid the bill even though I was never given an estimate for repairs or told that their hourly rate per tech was $ 120. My wife called REM the next day and they agreed, after much discussion, to send us a check for $ 100. The check arrived for $ 120 so the final bill total was $ 600 to splice a break in the low voltage line.
Description of Work: There was a break in line for the low voltage line going from the handler to the compressor. (We had had roof repairs done the day before and they had cut the line and hid the damage in some sealant - another story...) After much discussion and time spent, they spliced the line.

Our tech arrived and quickly determined no low voltage to condenser. The technician asked the customer three times if any work/repairs had been performed to the house and customer said no. Tech kept blindly searching for a wiring short and called supervisor a number of times, i.e. talking on cell phone, for direction on locating wiring short. The supervisor asked the tech to ask the customer a fourth time about any work performed on the house. The tech was told by the customer that the house had been sold and no one had lived in the house for three weeks and the air conditioning had not been on during that time. At this time the customer revealed some repairs had to be made before closing and one of the repairs was to install drip flashing around the roof edges. The tech then pursued looking for broken or cut wires around the new flashing. He located cut wires around the roof edge where roofers installed flashing. The roofers tried to hide the cut wire by pushing it into the flashing and covering it with tar. Our tech called his supervisor to say another tech would be needed to pull new wire if wire could be pulled. The second tech arrived at 4:00 pm approximately two hours after the first tech. After researching how to pull new wire through the two story house down to the condenser, it was determined it could not be done through walls like the original wire was run. Our techs had to splice the original wire and add 30 feet of wire and 16 wire nuts. The new wire had to be installed by pushing up the soffit and installing a portion of the new wire inside the soffit. This is a very time consuming procedure. The homeowner was quoted $720.00 as noted in his complaint and he told our techs to "finish the work and we would talk." The homeowner called the roofer and the roofer came to the house while our techs were there. The roofer admitted his employees cut the wire and he is willing to pay for the repairs. The roofer was informed the cost was $720.00. The tech called his supervisor about the $720.00 then gave the phone to the homeowner. The homeowner was complaining about the $720.00 because the roofers were only willing to pay $350.00. On the following morning, Mrs called and talked to the supervisor complaining about the $720.00. The supervisor explained one tech and truck was there for four hours and another tech and truck was there for two hours. The price also included materials, i.e. wire, etc. For P.R. purposes, we offered and did refund $120.00 which is very reasonable considering the amount of work performed.

The REM team arrived promptly as scheduled around 8:00 am and the crew finished their work around 1:00 in the afternoon. They were polite, considerate, and industrious. Joe scheduled an inspection for us and their work passed the inspection without any problems. Everything was handled in a very professional manner and I would definitely use REM again.
Description of Work: Replaced existing A/C system with a new condenser, heat strip, and air handler. As part of the installation, they built a new slab, enlarged the size of the main return, built a working platform in the attic near the air handler, and relocated the thermostat to an inside wall.

read above, I wouldn't use these jerks if they were the last company handling AC in Florida. I'd rather live in a tent. But to their credit the guy was very polite while he was ripping her off. Most used care salesmen are right. $481 to basically cap a wire some ants got to and rewire a thermostat....all the other crap they did was useless. I know a little bit about this stuff we owned a heating company for 20 years. Lesson learned next time, deal with the heat another 24 hrs and fix it myself. P*** off REM
Description of Work: First of for any man reading this never hire this company to come out to your house when you aren't there. They sure do know how to pull it over a woman's eye. I have a new AC unit that blew a 5 amp fuse. It was obviously a wiring issue, I just didn't have the time to look into it at midnight. Called my regular AC company and they were not able to get to me the next day (Friday). I needed AC so called these jokers. So they come out (2 hrs late) and meet my wife. Basically the people who installed it did a poor job from what he said and we had a wire issue that blew out the board in the thermostat. Should have been a simple fix, correct the issue and replace the theromstat. Not really sure why they needed to "tune up" my new system, "oil" motors, and pretty much gave my whole system a makeover by the lengthy write up I received when I got home. Not to mention he sold he sold her the mack daddy, ferrari thermostat but of course he did. Kind of like the wife going in for an oil change and getting a new transmission. Now of course they will come in here and tell you all that the system was a mess, and we needed to rewire the whole system, and this and that. The bottom line they ripped her off and didn't even bother using lube on her. These guys can kiss my a**.

We can understand a customer's frustration when their equipment does not work and they customarily make their own repairs but were unable to on this occasion. The Mr called in the initial service call stating blown fuses were occurring and suspected the thermostat to be bad. We expected to arrive between 12 - 2 pm, however, the technician was detained with unexpected lengthy repairs on the service call previous to their call. We did contact the Mrs who was at the home to let her know of the delay and she said it was OK. Upon arrival, tech discovered the indoor air handler panel was off, several extra blown fuses were sitting in bottom of cabinet, tools sitting on top of the air handler. His diagnostics: (1) found low voltage wiring shorted at outdoor unit where the wiring was touching which in turn shorted the thermostat and blew fuses; (2) filter under air handler was clogged and had not been changed since system was installed in 2010; (3) several air leaks at air handler with signs of poor installation Note: Hillsborough County permit for system installation was not attained; (4) seems previous repair company was unable to locate cause of electrical shorts. Our technician quoted the price to repair wiring and replace thermostat and received written approval to complete repairs from Mrs. We asked about approval from Mr and Mrs said she was texting him the information. This customer did not contact us about any concerns regarding the repairs or price. We had no idea there was a problem until we saw the review in Angie's List.

Chris worked hard to find how the air conditioning had been jerry-rigged and to make sure that I could get air conditioning today.
Description of Work: Air conditioner wasn't cooling. Turns out the power to the A/C had caught on fire as 22 years ago the wrong wiring was used. I will need to bring in an electrician, but my air conditioner is now running.

We contacted REM on the 26th to get a quote for the worked listed above. The owner of the company, Joe, came out and informed us of the necessary requirements that needed to be done to meet code. No other company that we had out told us about the requirements to meet code. They showed up and started working right away. They all worked together and got the job done. We did not see one of the workers standing around not doing anything at any time. They we polite and explained things as they went along if we were in the area. They cleaned up every last piece of trash from the installation at took away the old units. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone ending this done. Joe came by as they were finishing up to check out that everything was to code and clean and installed per the instruction that he gave his workers. We are very pleased the job, the people, and the equipment at was installed.
Description of Work: They came in and removed the old unit and air handler. The proceeded to do the necessary requirements to make it meet code. Then installed a new unit and air handler. A new run was added for maximum air flow in the house. The last thing was a new thermostat was installed. They then tested the system to be sure it was functioning properly.

Called REM Air Conditioning of Tampa, Inc. on Sunday morning, because our unit was not putting out any heat. Since the temperature has dipped and it's supposed to be colder tonite, we needed service today. Joe, who answered the phone, was very professional and worked immediately on dispatching a technician, who arrived quickly to our house. The technician, Dennis was knowledgeable, efficient, professional, and advised us about the age of the unit, since we just moved into this house. In the future, we plan to replace the unit and we will definitely go with REM Air Conditioning of Tampa, Inc. I was pleased to have heat on this very cold day.
Description of Work: Performed tune-up, added pan tablets, flushed drain line, oiled motors, cleaned condenser coil, checked evaporator coil, checked valve. Technician told us the year of the unit, which we did not know because we inherited this house from my grandmother.

The owner and all the workers were wonderfully professional, personal, punctual, and great to deal with. They made certain that they did not track in any dirt and even vacuumed after they were finished. The county inspector even said they were one of the most reliable and dependable companies based on the quality of their work. I would very highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: REM replaced my air conditioning/heating unit. They had actually replaced my unit years ago and I was pleased then, so I had them replace it again 20-25 years later.

Dennis arrived 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled 8 AM appointment time this morning. I have a Rheem unit bought in 2011 from another company that has been nothing but trouble. Two months ago, the compressor quit and now it happened again! Dennis told me what I suspected-the installation wasn't top notch and showed me how they could have done a better job. He found a part within the compressor that needed replacing that was covered under warranty. He recommended that I purchase an additional part that would boost the compressor's ability to turn itself on after power outages. The price for this part and all labor for the day came to $399. I was so impressed with Dennis' comprehensive knowledge and ability that I requested for him to leave me the paperwork for a service contract with REM. REM is a high quality air conditioning/heating operation. Angie's List is so worth it to be able to find these guys! 100% recommended!!
