REM Air Conditioning of Tampa

This was an excellent company to deal with from the initial phone call through to the completion of the services. I spoke with Joe with the initial call. He called me back within an hour with a complete estimate of the options and cost. Another hour later the installation crew turned up and completed the work in around 1.5 hours. As they were finishing the work, Joe showed up inspected their work, made a couple of suggestions and then inspected and adjusted both of the AC units that service my home. This was the best experience I have ever had with an AC company. They were friendly, very responsive, punctual and just great to deal with. The next time I need AC service, I'm calling Joe again.

He spent time working on it thoroughly. He took it apart, cleaned it inside and outside. They did an excellent job and advised us about what we should and should not do.

They were very good. He did quality work and came out on a moments notice. He was the only one who responded. The price was very reasonable too.

We have two air/heat pump units and after the first cold snap in January I noticed that the fan on the larger one would run constantly when the heat was on but only the heat strips seemed to be working. After receiving an estimate for an entire new air handler to replace one that is barely five years old, I called REM for a second opinion. Rick showed up promptly the next day and although he confirmed that the coil was leaking, he felt the leak was too small and the unit too new to account for what appeared to be a total lack of freon. He kept testing and eventually discovered that on the outside unit the expansion valve was bad (so the freon wasn't registering) and the control board had self-destructed and the fans had been wired improperly (too late now for me to rate Rheem and the original installers). The good news: there was freon so I wouldn't have to pay for that; the bad news: I really did need a new coil (although not the whole air handler). Rick was professional, courteous and very efficient, saving time and money by persisting in the diagnostics since replacing the coil alone would not have fixed the problem and could have resulted in the loss of hundreds of dollars in freon (bad for the environment also).

Excellent experience overall. REM is a very well run company and it is clear customer satisfaction is very important to them. Extremely competent/friendly employees. The following week, completely unsolicited, the City Inspector even told me REM is the best in town in terms of quality. I highly recommend this company.

We called them on Sunday at 10:00 because our unit was not working. We have a new unit that is only 3 months old. The original company that installed the unit has been out twice and could not find the reason the outside unit stops working. I decided to call a company that does REMS since that is what our new unit is and to see if they could find the problem. We called at 10:00 and they said someone would be here with 1-11/2 hrs. Rick the tech called at 11:00 and said he was on his way. Within 15 minutes he said it was a coil that was leaking and it was defective. It is under warranty. He said they could replace it but they would have to charge for labor since they did not install the unit. He said they could do it for us but if we called back the company that installed the unit, the labor is free for the first yr. It would cost from $450.-600. for them to install it for labor. Our unit went out on Saturday and we called the original company that installed it and they still have not called us back. I want to thank them for being so professional, efficient and on time. I think we have a new company to recommend to family and friends. I am glad we looked on Angie's list.

They were able to properly diagnose the issue, test the pressure, and then make the repair. A different company came out and told me that I needed a new unit so I appreciated their honesty and knowledge.

Contacted original installer of the unit from 2004 that we have used consistently for annual service and any other issues that come up with our system. They advised they wouldn't be able to get someone to my residence until tomorrow between 2-4pm (UGH!). As such, I went to Angie's List and this was the first company I called...and they were at my home within an hour! Dennis, the technician, was very professional and explained everything in details, in addition to doing a thorough cleanup job on the unit. I just can't say enough good things about the experience here, but I encourage anyone that needs service to use this company.

They very friendly. They showed up on the scheduled time they said they would be there to work on it. They where fair with the price when they charged me.

Joe (owner)came out next day to go over repairs needed and different options. Scheduled the installation within a week. Had 5-6 fellows here to do installation. Very neat; drop cloths in place, good clean up, seemed to know exactly what had to be done. Joe came out during installation to go over warranty, paperwork, TECO rebate, ventwork, filters, etc. My husband suggested getting other estimates, which normally I would do. However, w/Angie's List, I figured I don't need to go to the extra steps, appointments, phone calls, etc.

We called they responded same day. Chris checked and wrote out all details for future use. He explained all details, then fixed the problem. Their representative (Chris) arrived on time, then went right to work. He was very friendly and very professional. We could not have asked for more.

Joe was exceedingly polite and knowledgeable. He replaced a fuse on the heat pump that I had blown from installing an incorrect thermostat. Performed the seasonal maintenance and gave me a condition assessment of the overall system so I could anticipate its remaining lifespan. Company offered a same-day time slot but due to personal scheduling conflicts, I delayed it a day. They called to let me know they were on their way and arrived 10 minutes early. $5 Angie's List discount.

They stuck to their word on the quoted price. They cleaned everything out and fully serviced the unit within reason. He told me what needed to be replaced right away and what would be needed eventually. He was here much longer than the service fee was allotted for and, as stated, stuck to the quoted price. I will have them out when it is time to replace the unit.

I had called several companies to inquire about routine maintenance. I was quoted from $107 to $119 and being told nothing was available for 2 months. I called REM and they quoted me $70 with a $5 Angie's List discount and had someone at my house in 1 hour. We just bought the house and had no idea if the A/C unit was maintained by the previous owner. Joe and Brandon were great. They explained everything and gave tips and suggestions. They added Freon because the level was slightly low. It was optional and they did not make us feel like it was critical. They said we would notice a difference in the cooling and it would also establish a baseline for a Freon level for service next year. They didn't seemed concerned of leaks and stated it's possible it came installed with a low Freon level. We noticed a difference in cooling within 1/2 hour after service. Both men were clean, well dressed, professional, and very nice. There were no language barriers.

The rep was great. I called them and they came on short notice He showed up on schedule and went straight to work on getting my house cooled. He spent plenty of time explaining what the problem was and how the addition of freon was only a temporary fix. Eventually we would run out of freon again if we did not replace the leaking coil. He said that the office would get back to me with an estimate for that repair. By the time he left, the AC was cranking and the house was cooling down. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I have used them for years and they are very good. They are very professional.

When the tech arrived he said I needed all the service and entire system checked. He spent a lot of time here but it was time he didn't need to spend because I knew exactly what was wrong with it. In a weak moment I said, "go ahead and do it," not realizing it would cost me that much money. They did whatever they had to do and looked over everything. I wasn't happy with them and I told them that I knew exactly what I wanted.

We had been without A/C almost 36 hours. When we called the office the young lady was very pleasant. She said that someone would be at the house that morning. Believe me it was a welcomed surprise when Dennis & Doug arrived early. Not only did they find and fix our problem, but they did something no company has every done before...explained and showed us everything they were going to be doing. They even examined our air filter! We have never had such a pleasant experience with an A/C company before. They also showed us something on our breaker box that we might want to have replaced before winter...never knew before. What a great team. We would highly recommend them again.

Our A/C was making a noise and one tube attached to the inside unit was burning hot. I called them in the late morning and they were out by the late afternoon. The office gave me a courtesy call when the technician was on his way. He showed up within 10-15 minutes. Dennis checked the inside and outside units. He found the problems and recommended several options at different cost for the repair letting me choose the cost and comfort level of repair. He also did a complete tune up on the unit. Our outside unit is 12 years old and he explained the problems in a way I could understand. Very nice and matter of fact. I felt comfortable with his work and professionalism.

Everything was great? The work that was promised at the initial meeting was all completed with diligence.

I received a $5 discount for the service call because of Angie's List. I called for a second opinion after I didn't trust the first one I got, and was pleased with the thorough job the Rheem representative did. The man was punctual, too (I had the first appointment on a Saturday). I learned that a lot of work needs to be done, but I'm not upset because the problems were caught before I was stuck with a crisis (the employee from the first company I hired never checked inside). I will be hiring Rheem to replace duct work, the homes original air handler (for which I receive a $100 Angie's List discount; the payment for this service call is deducted as well) and a contractor on the outside unit. The total work will cost around $4,700 (2.5 ton air handler at 13 SEER rating for a home with 1250 square feet; digital wall control; duct work; air filter I never have to replace). The work is expected to take one business day (they can only install during the week).

FAST, SAME DAY SERVICE WITH EXTENDED EXPLANATION OF REPAIRS NEEDED AND ADVICE ON FUTURE MAINTENANCE. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE.

ALL STAFF MEMBERS TOOK PRIDE IN THE WORK THEY PERFORMED. EXCELLENT TEAMWORK PRODUCED EFFICIENT JOB FLOW. THEY INSTALLED A QUALITY PRODUCT DURING THIS CUSTOM RETROFIT. THE CAREFUL WORKERS WERE RESPECTFUL OF THE WORK ENVIRONMENT AS THEY KEPT DUST, ETC. TO A MINIMUM. WORKERS USED ''BEST SAFETY PRACTICES.'' WORK WAS DONE SO INDEPENDENTLY(AS A GROUP) AND PROFESSIONALLY THAT WE HAVE COMPLETE CONFIDENCE IN THE COMPANY.

DENNIS, THE TECHNICIAN, WAS VERY THOROUGH AND FRIENDLY. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THAT HE WAS DOING AND WHY IT WAS IMPORTANT. I WILL CALL REM AGAIN FOR SERVICE.
