Description of Work: They checked the pipes by using a video camera to ensure there were no blockages. The first rep that came out seemed newer and his camera did not work. He also mentioned there may be an issue with the drain going to the road, which was alarming. Then the next day his supervisor came out with a working camera and said everything was ok. This was great news, but at the same time not comforting due to the conflicting stories. We signed up for the annual plan, which seemed to be a good deal that includes cleaning out the water heater along with checkups of the plumbing. I would NOT recommend the Big Deal, but would recommend the annual contract. I feel we could have gotten the same services with just purchasing the annual plan and not paying the additional money for the big deal...paying $100 too much.

Description of Work: I had some issues with plumbing in 2 different bathrooms. Red Hat diagnosed quickly, fixed, and we have had no problems since. I thought the price was a little high, but "You get what you pay for". I have had no problems and I am completely satisfied with the work.

Description of Work: The Red Cap $99.00 advertised deal via Angies list was to scope and rod the drain pipes. That was done by two young men (whose camera was not working due to a battery not being charged and the charger left at another site), and they indicated their master plumber would provide me with a better idea of the cost to clean the drain pipe when he came by the next day with a functioning camera. We have an issue at this residence, cast iron pipes with scale of 50 years. It will be time consuming and require a careful professional to solve our issue. So when the Master plumber ran his camera up the pipe(he indicated he was recording the condition of the pipe) he said the pipe condition was not good and may not be salvageable. Turns out the recording could not be saved so I was unable to share with new owners. Red Cap admin called two days later, asked if I was happy with the cleaning and I said no. So they scheduled a courtesy warranty call. Red Cap could not clean the drain pipe on the warranty follow up try satisfactorily (an area of 8+ feet long was still closed down to 1.5 inches and they left the job site). Red Cap charged me $1100 to " aqua jet and clean" the drain pipe. They did find the correct single drain pipe but before performing the warranty service asked me to sign an indemnification form to cover $2500 for their equipment if they deemed the condition of the pipes caused equipment failure. I did so, but they balked to "push" their equipment to aqua jet clean our Cast iron drain in the 8 feet prior mentioned. Why, because Red Cap makes large revenue by tearing up exisiting flooring or ground and re piping residences, etc. Red Cap quoteed me $9000.00 to repipe 30 feet of 3" PVC drain pipe plus cut out one cast iron fitting. Another licensed and insured plumber estimated 6-8 hours labor for two men and $600 of material for a total of $1900 to do the same work. I was disappointed to say the least in Red Cap. They did come to the house four times, but the drain was never properly cleaned, and when we discussed cleaning the drain to a round condition with a "chain" auger they indicated I would need to pay an additional amount and have to sign another indemnification for their equipment. I walked away from them at that point citing the new owners would need to make that decision. I conlcuded Red Cap knows how to over estimate their service, under perform (possibly on purpose) and then try to intimidate the customer to beleiving their method and pricing is the way to go. I will turn to another plumber to solve our issue and cut my losses of time and $ with Red Cap.

Description of Work: Called in because I had a main line blockage. First person came out and rodded inside the home and found nothing. However, he suggested that I purchase natural enzymes to free up my pipes. I purchased 3. Second person came 2 days after when the ground level toilets and tubs started backing up - Joe diagnosed it as a main line blockage and rodded to the street - which immediately cleared up the issue. He did not charge me for the second time. Paul (supervisor) came out separately to run the camera to diagnose the problem (tree roots). Overall very happy with Joe and Paul. Felt "pushed/encouraged" by the younger guy (who didn't know to run the rod to the street). Will use again.

Description of Work: I had been experiencing slow drains and since our home had never had the sewer lines inspected, I signed up for their special check-up. Fortunately, most of my drainage problems were minimal and they helped me resolve them as well as checking that my sewer line was OK.

Description of Work: Our drains were backed up. The technician resolved the problem, then we decided to have a a clean-out drain installed the following week, so the first service call was provided at no charge. We were pleased with the service.

Description of Work: The technician arrived in a resonable amount of time. Proceeded to check the house out and informed me that I most likely had a leak in or below the slab. Then proceeded to tell me the solution was a whole house replumb. Stated that I would need the estimator to give me an actual quote on that. I asked if it could be set up. Was told that he tried to set it up but I never got confirmation until shortly before the estimator was to arrive. Wife an I were on our way to dinner as we had not been informed of an actual appointment. Had to reschedule the appointment for the following week due to other issues. The estimator arrived as scheduled and proceeded to check out the house. Told that a whole house replumb would be approx $7200. Asked to get a written quotation and was told that it would be a day or two. Expected to receive it via email. Still waiting the estimate. Both individuals were very professional and polite. I just feel that I spent $30 to have someone tell me something that I already knew without and recommended action other then whole house replumb. Since the estimator arrival, I have since uncovered the leak and repaired for less than $200 myself.

Description of Work: Replaced two toilets . It took three times to reset them so they were stable. Also had to replace three shutoff valves. After the water was turned off the water wasn't flowing strong and also the one to my refrigerator wasn't | Flowing at all the third one he replaced for free. The bathroom floors had a lot of the stuff he used to secure the toilets on the floor and some on the carpet. I believe he used one of my hand towels because I saw it on the floor and I didn't find it later. |

Description of Work: Our old sink disposal was shot, Red Cap, replaced it and did a great job in a timely manner and cleaned it all up.

Description of Work: I called Red Cap b/c they said their service fee was only $25 while my normal plumber's is $75 adn that they were available weekend and evening hours. I couldnt get the cold water in my bathtub to turn off the night before and it took me bending the knob before i could get it down to a quiet drip. The guy came and had no idea how he could fix my problem for me. He was able to get my leaky bathtub faucet to stop dripping but gave me estimates on other solutions b/c the valves in there were from the 70s and no longer made. the quotes were outrageous and so he told me i needed to go to Lowes and buy my own new knobs and see if i could get them to fit onto the valves so i could turn the water on and off. He charged me $75 but didnt really do anything or how to do anything. a total rip off and as soon as he left my 10 yr old son said "you shouldnt have called him huh?" pretty much sums it up! i am shocked they are even on Angie's List!

Description of Work: I had new cabinets and counter tops installed in my kitchen and I called Red Cap plumbing for an estimate on reconnecting my sink, garbage disposal and refrig. water filter. They showed up on time, were very courteous and did a thorough analysis of the job. I was going to hire them until I was given the estimate. I felt it was very high so I looked elsewhere.
