 + -1 moreJohn, the owner came to my house personally because one of his men was out that day. He quickly went over the work which needed to be done and gave me an estimate. He was quick and efficient, he also put on shoe covers to walk around my house, which my wife appreciated. I would call him again in a minute. It is good to see men who still care about the work they perform.
Description of Work: Cleaned a shower drain which had become clogged. Fixed 3 fixtures which had low water pressure. Turned up water heater and adjusted children's bath to limit water temperature.

She was doing dishes & some water had spilled on her foot, she thought it was from over splash, but it happened again a few minutes later. When she opened the cabinet there was water everywhere, under my sink. So, she looked in the November issue of Angie's list, which was all about toilets & plumbing & remolding of bathrooms & kitchens. On page 8 was an little excerpt from a member about Red Cap Plumbing. With the holidays being here, I didn't think we would be able to get a plumber to come out until after the New Year. My daughter called the next morning and they had a plumber out the next morning @ 8:30am and he was done with the job by 9am! WOW! water heater repair
 + -1 moreI called for service and they couldn't get to me for several days. I received a call the next day and there was a cancellation or something and they were able to see me that very day. Service representative Charlie was personable, helpful, knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. I thought I had a plumbing problem but he identified the problem with the water heater immediately. I will use this company again without a doubt as I have confidence in their work. I had a $25 coupon from Angie's List but forgot to give it to Charlie for the discount.
Description of Work: Leaking water heater, very old model. Capped off leak until floor damage can be assessed so that new water heater can be installed. Also gave estimates on installation of new water heater and installation washer hookups.

 + -1 moreSpoke with Ann, who was extremely cordial. She scheduled the day and said she would call in the morning to let us know when the service tech would arrive. Within 2 days, Mike came out arriving on time as Ann's earlier call had said. He took a look at the problem and said he could handle it, no problem! When he went to turn the water off to the house, he noticed our main shut off valve was corroding and set so close to the pipe, it was hard to get your hand in to turn the handle. He offered to fix that as well! He put his red boot covers on before entering the house, cleaned up after the job and was very professional. It went so well that while he was there, we got his recommendation for replacing the 20 year old toilets that were having flushing and running problems, wasting a great deal of H2O. We excepted his bid to do that work and they came back and did that job today. Communication from Red Cap was wonderful, service was prompt, efficient, professional and clean!!
Description of Work: Before we found Red Cap, we had a previous, separate plumbing problem and called a plumber we had used in the past but he had retired and turned the business over to his son. The work got done, cost too much and he left a mess for me to clean up. So when we needed a plumber for the leak under the sink, I went straight to Angie's List to find one and chose Red Cap Plumbing, based on other customer's comments and the high ratings given to Red Cap Plumbing.

 + -1 moreAn excellent professional transaction from phone call consultation to job analysis to job completion. Glad I found Red Cap through Angie's List. Red Cap Plumbing may charge a bit more, but you get what you pay for!
Description of Work: When my 15 year old water heater developed a leak at 3:30PM on a weekday, I called several plumbers. Red Cap was the only one who responded immediately. They got all the information about the water heater from me on the phone and the technician determined that I needed a new water heater, which he picked up for me from his distributor. By 5:30PM, he was removing the old one and installing the new one, which is much more energy efficient than the old one. By 6:30PM the job was done. That's excellent service! A 3 hour interval from phone call to job finish and the technician had a 35 mile drive to reach my house and he had to stop off to purchase the new water heater. By the way, one of the other plumbers I cancelled, rang my bell the next morning asking if there was anything he could do, 17 hours after I made the call. He didn't even get the message that I cancelled!

 + -1 moreI thought the overall job was done OK, however when I had the inspector look at it, he commented that he could not pass the job because the plumber did not complete it properly. The plumber Mikey did not put the cover the wires completely and put a cap at the end of the disposer. Small Jobs Electric came out to do it.

 + -1 moreI called in the morning to see when someone could come out. Ann told me they could have someone out to the house in the afternoon. Around 1:30, she called to give me an update. A second call came around 2:30 letting me know the technician would be to my house within the hour. Once he arrived, I showed him the problems, and he gave me an estimate for money and time. He was able to complete the job in about half the time he thought. He was very courteous and neat.
Description of Work: Josh snaked the tub in our second bathroom which was draining incredibly slow. He also checked the shower head in our other bathroom to determine why there was very little water pressure. He told me the shower head was clogged due to the deposits from the water line.

 + -1 moreRed Cap Plumbing had a poor overall experience, though, at the end of the day, they handled the problems they caused us in good faith, and the owner did the best he could to make us happy. They moved an A/C drain line from one side of the house to the other. The drain line they installed had some bumps in it so that the water ended up backing up into the air handler, causing water to leak through the attic into the ceiling. At first they tried to claim that they didn't cause the problem, but they changed their minds pretty quickly and ended up refunding our money in full and sending out a drywall company to repair our ceiling. The lesson I learned was that you should hire an A/C company to do A/C drain work, not a plumber. However, even though we didn't get charged for the work in the end, the re-quote was high for the number of hours they spent to do the initial job.
Description of Work: They moved my A/C drain line from one side of the house to the other.

 + -1 moreI purchased a bathtub that looks great as a freestanding unit, but turned out to be a bear to install. I had another plumber try to install it and could not get it done. I will admit that it was a little tricky, but even though though the guys at Red Cap had never seen this one and it took a bit to figure out how to hook up the remote blower, they got it done and it works great. Price was a little higher than i was expecting, but with the amount of time that was spent in the attic running and attaching the blower in the Florida sun. It seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: Installed a custom freestanding tub from Oceania.

 + -1 moreCharlie was the plumber who came out. He even put those "booties" on his shoes and cleaned up the work area when he was finished. I was more than pleased with the company and with him, and I will definitely call them again for any plumbing needs. It was a very pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Our 23 year old toilet was leaking. We tried to fix it ourselves to no avail. I called Red Cap Plumbing around 9:30am on Monday and they had one of their man over by 11:00am. He ended up replacing the old toilet after trying to fix it (IT WAS CRACKED AND COULD NOT BE FIXED). He went and got a new toilet and installed it. He gave me several price options and advised me on the difference of each one.

I think he did an excellent job just to make sure the job was satisfactorily. I called him yesterday after he finished and gave him this same informat. We are quick to criticize but not to compliment.
Description of Work: They fixed a leak in the toilet and they also fixed the water supply. They did a number of things to stop the leak in the toilet. They rebuilt the 3 gallon tank in the toilet.

 + -1 moreRight from the beginning when I first called and talked to Ann and then later Dee, this was a good experience if one has to spend money. I don't think the price was out of line as the labor was pretty extensive and there was not a lot of room to work with. John was extremely helpful and professional and I can't say enough good things about him. So refreshing to find a company that puts the customer first and strives to make the experience as pleasant as possible. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family or friends and will definitely call them again should that become necessary. Anyone looking for plumbing help, you won't regret calling Red Cap
Description of Work: Water was leaking from the ceiling and after cutting a hole and watching the water flow, I thought that the tub would have to be moved and wood replaced after the leak was fixed. John came the day expected and ahead of when he was going to be there. Ann called to see if it would be ok for him to be there earlier than expected. John looked at the situation and told me that the area around the tub just needed to be sealed and showed me what to do. He said that he thought the wood was ok and wouldn't have to be replaced. I saved a lot of money in that instance. We scheduled a time for him to come back the next morning to replace the water heater which was at least 18 years old and not easy to get to upstairs. He was there right on time and replaced the heater and a shutoff valve in the time he estimated it would take. No add on's from the estimate and he even reminded me about the $25 off coupon. John and his helper were neat in everything and cleaned everything up before they left

 + -1 moreWe'd had 3 companies out to give us estimates. This was not the lowest estimate, but John really took the time to sit down with us and talk through the whole project. Since we were first time do it yourself renovaters on such a large project, he made some good suggestions on structural improvements we should take care of before they started. The office staff was always very courteous, but there were communication break downs at points. We ultimately used this company on 2 other remodel projects.
Description of Work: We built a new bathroom and adjoining laundry room in an addition that was just 4 walls no existing plumbing. They installed all lines in and out for both the bathroom and washer. Also installed all fixtures and faucets. Price only includes labor and plumbing supplies as we bought all of the bathroom fixtures.
