Arrived on time. Suggested option to rebuild flushing instead of replacing toilet. Cleaned up very well. Nice person.
Description of Work: Replaced toilet that would not flush properly. I furnished the toilet and they charged labor. At first they wanted to charge $30 for after 5 p.m but I said that was not mentioned when I talked to their rep on the phone. Palu graciously took the charge off and gave $30 Angie's List discount. I was satisfied with the work and his willingness to correct the bill. I would use them again.

The receptionist told me it would cost $58 for a service call, if there was no repair work. After looking at my toilets, he recommended new toilets and said there was no repair work to be done. He then told me I owed $120 for his service call. When I asked why it more than double what had been quoted the day before, he stumbled and said I couldn't use my coupon from Angie's List because that was only if work was performed. Their coupon says $25 off service call, not repair work. He also tried to sell me 2 new toilets at $500 a piece, and an $84 service plan. I paid the $120, but did not do anything further. I still don't understand the $120 charge, but did not feel I could argue. I am very disappointed because the only reason I used them was because of their high recommendation on Angie's List. I plan to call them and ask for the $62 back that I should not have paid.
Description of Work: They came out to check my 2 toilets that aren't working well.

Red Cap Plumbing was great to work with from start to finish. Their service tech was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He even showed me where the water main came into the house because I indicated I couldn't find it. The work was done well and fixed the water hammer problem. Additionally, the replacement of the drain in the master bath tub fixed an ongoing drainage issue. Would recommend Red Cap to anyone needing plumbing service in the Westchase area. I will use them again when it comes time to do any and all additional plumbing work, especially when it comes time to replace the master bath fixtures!
Description of Work: Rebuilt 3 toilets because of water hammer, changed drain in master bath garden tub, fixed a water-logged water hammer limiter.

I could not be more pleased - totally professional, knowledgeable, and prompt. I had water running out of the heater into the yard. When I called at 7 pm, they called right back and came out within 45 minutes to do the repairs which took about 30 minutes. Also offer a service agreement and discount.

The toilet seems to not be as stable as I would like it to be. The piping under the sink seems to be leaking when it drains from the primary sink. It's a slow leak, but leaking from new plumbing, none-the-less. I haven't called them back out to see if they would fix these issues, so I don't know if they would come back out to address them.
Description of Work: They put a $500 toilet in my bathroom. As a part of a total job, including moving the laundry room, they also replaced piping under the sink in the kitchen.

Mixed. The job took 2 days, the techs finishing late--7pm on day 2. At approx 7:45 pm that night I heard a wooshing noise and saw water gushing from the hot water heater, creating a small pool in my backyard. Another tech quickly responded to my call to Red Cap for help, replacing a newly-placed pipe that had burst. I thought all was well, but about 2 weeks later while doing laundry I noticed water leaking from the hot water heater, called Red Cap and another tech was quickly dispatched to my home, it turned out the "emergency over-heat" gasket that prevents overheating was being activated by the simple task of doing a "warm" load of laundry as the heat settings placed by the initial techs had been set "too high" per this Red Cap respondent. Overall, all of the techs from Red Cap were friendly, courteous, prompt, efficient, helpful. But, the fact that 2 emergency calls were necessay after the initial work makes me feel uneasy about the overall quality of the work.
Description of Work: Brown water was coming from all of the hot water taps in my home. Initially drained a hot water heater, but subsequently replumbed the entire house (both hot and cold pipes) and installed a new hot water heater in my garage. Previously my hot water heater had been in my hard-to-access attic.

Their operator answered my call and said a technician would be in touch within 10-15 minutes. He called 5 minutes later and was there in 30 minutes. I was very impressed by the punctuality. The tech began working on the broken pipe (before giving me the estimate, a process they claim to always do). It took the man 10 minutes and (2) 3/4" couplings to fix the repair. He then showed his price sheet and asked for the $171. He apologized a number of times re: the price because the repair was so easy; he and I both knew he had nothing to do with pricing. I thanked him and he went off to his next call. When I called the office to thank them for how quickly and professional they were, but to also voice my displeasure with the way they handled the pricing, the woman at the office simply sat silent, thanked me and hung up.
Description of Work: I called Red Cap to come out and address because of a break in my water main that occurred when I was removing some tree stumps. They sent over a technician within 30 minutes to repair the broken 3/4" PVC. Repair took ten minutes.

Originally called to unjam disposal & tighten faucet in kitchen sink. Ended up having to replace both. Josh had the disposal on the truck but not the faucet, so I got one at Home Depot. It was bad out of the box so he had to get and install another one, and he split the cost of the second install. Overall a very good job, he was quick, polite, flexible, and very professional.

It could not have been more painless. The final bill was less than expected, and took about 2 hours, which was the time estimated. The tech was polite, knowledgeable, and did a very good job. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: After diagnosing the problem the technician gave us a quote and timeline. He located the leak underneath our parking lot just on our side of the meter. He jackhammered a hole in the blacktop, showed me what the problem was, repaired it, filled the hole in again, and placed the square of blacktop back in place.

Our pool company did work in our backyard that resulted in no water going to house. They were unable to identify the problem. I called Red Cap Plumbing. They responded in an hour. He took less than 10 minutes to identify the problem. He took the time to check our irrigation system set up even after restoring water to our home. He explained things about our plumbing that will save us hundreds. For example, he pointed out that part of our faucets and irrigation are actually hooked up to the house water supply, thus charged a sewer charge. If we used those to fill the pool or do irrigation, it would be considerably more. They also took out our trash to the curb!
Description of Work: Diagnostic evaluation of no water to house. They found the turned off valve and turned it on. He also explained many things about our plumbing system and irrigation system.

Mike was very prompt and his office even called ahead to tell me he was on the way. He listened attentively while I told him about my plumbing problems and was very clear and explained in detail what needed to be done after the water heater was replaced in case the lines needed to be flushed to remove all the debris from the old water heater (which ended up not needing to be flushed one by one). He then told me my choices of toilets that I inquired about and what else might possibly need replacing(that collar) once he got into the job. He left to go get the water heater and the toilet, promising to return in 1 1/2 hrs, which he did. He also was very willing to show me how much buildup the water heater had. He couldn't even completely empty out the water it was so plugged!! He also showed me the broken collar when he took up the toilet. Mike left all work areas clean and hauled away the old water heater and toilet. I was very satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: After putting his red booties over his shoes, Mike evaluated the my initial complaint which was very low HOT water pressure while my cold water pressure was fine. Mike determined that my water heater was almost 20 years old, probably never been flushed and loaded with deposits which were impeding the water flow. Mike replaced the water heater($650) which immediately fixed the problem. While Mike was there he also replaced my old rocking toilet for a nice new "adult size" toilet($479) in the master bath and also replaced the collar underneath which was broken causing the rocking. He also gave me another estimate for putting in two bathroom sinks and faucets which I had purchased myself-I declined. I also got a $25 discount for mentioning I found them on Angie's List!!

Arrived promptly and quickly repaired the slight leak at the kitchen sink cold water cut off valve. $160. The cold water pressure at the faucet was weak. When I fully opened the new cut off valve we found a new leak in the faucet. Repairman returned the next day to fix the new leak. $113. It seemed that the second leak was a result of fixing the first leak but they said NOT. A second leak at same location still seems pretty coincidental. Showed up on time both times and worked quickly. Discounted second visit.

Estimate was performed for $29.95. One of the three items to repair was replacement of kitchen faucet not including turn off valves. The price for the faucet alone was $270 (inexpensive faucet included valued at approx. $70). I did not want to get the work done since he was basically charging $200 per hour of labor. The telephone staff (Anne and Susan) were extremely nice, as well as the person who gave the estimate (Mike). However, they were 1-1/2 hours late for the appointment (they were suppose to arrive from 12-2 and they arrived at 3:30. I would not call this company again. It surprises me that Angie's List has this company rated overall an "A". It should be "B" or "C" based on my experience.

Very good. Mike was really nice. He listened to what I had already done and responded accordingly. He found the cheapest way to get the job done. Not that it was a big deal, but he gave me an extra flapper for our toilet when he saw the one we had previously. Just a nice gesture.
Description of Work: We had a clog in our kitchen sink and I tried every non-professional method (snake, water pressure, air pressure, crystals), but couldn't get it. He (Mike I think) came and snaked out everything. He also cleaned up the pipes that I kind messed up a little for a small charge.

My home is a bungalow built in 1922, you can imagine how many different people have worked on the plumbing. Mikey came out, found out the leak was most likely due to a back up in the system holding the water back at a joint that was meant to flow down rather than hold water. I had noticed some slowing of my drains. I had him give me an estimate which was very reasonable compared to another company previously contacted. We decided to move forward with a full re-pipe of my sewer line to the city main. Unfortunately the pipes did not cooperate and backed up over Christmas! Mikey came on the appointment day hoping to complete ASAP since we were not able to even live at the house at this point. Mikey did a great job, even took care to do his best to not destroy my lawn using plastic to hold the dirt and grass. Mikey had to get the city involved since the main tap was ancient and also needed work. Through the whole ordeal he was professional and went above and beyond.
Description of Work: Original issue was a leak in the wall...found out it was a backup and decided to do what I should have done long ago. Replace the entire sewer line all the way to the city connection. The home is a bungalow with a crawl space.
