Eddy the plumber was on time, evaluated my problems, let me know that my dishwasher pump had let go and that it was "no good" (I thought/hoped) maybe a hose was loose, but the dishwasher was 10 years old.

Red Cap Plumbing costed $29.99 for the service call and they rebate that because I am an Angie's List member. I had to call them because the technician charged me anyway. I told them I was with Angie's List and it took me three or four days to get a refund. Our kitchen drain was stopped up pretty bad. It wouldn't unclog or anything. I called them that day and they came out that afternoon. The estimates I think one was below $200, one was high at $1300. One thing that disturbed me the most was that they didn't even go under the sink to see what caused the problem. They came in for about 5 minutes and dropped off his estimates. He didn't even look under the sink and try to figure it out. They were way overpriced.
Description of Work: Red Cap Plumbing came out and gave me three estimates.

We at Red Cap Plumbing pride ourselves in customer satisfaction. We have refunded the home owner the $29.95 he spent for his diagnostic charge. We are sorry that we could not do business together as [member name removed] felt that our multiple options were out of his price range.

I thought their prices were extremely high even on things that had nothing wrong with them. I hated them not that they were not polite, but they seem to give me estimates on things that are working and at exorbitant prices. I will never call them again. I did not call them because I had an issue, but they called me because I had a free deal for them to come and check everything.

Thank you for your review. What you had done was a plumbing inspection as part of your service agreement with us. This is when the technicians come out and look at all your plumbing fixtures etc and go over what are preventative measures. This is not to say that you would have to purchase at this time it is letting the consumer know what is going on with their plumbing in their home and what measures can be taken to help prevent water damage, loss of water, etc and maintain their plumbing system. It is like getting an oil change on your vehicle every 3500. Thank you

I would not use them again. Because I did not buy them from him, he would not warranty the work to put them in. He had to come back a second time because one of the faucets was leaking. The first time he charged me $150 and the second time he charged me $90. He was inexperienced. I think that they are competitive on pricing. I would not use them for anything too high level. I did not like that he would not warranty products that were brand new and in the box. He would not warranty his work.

Thank you for your response. We would love to help you but we show no records of being at your home. This may be a different address??? Please call our office to provide an invoice # to resolve the concern you have about the pricing and warranty. We absolutely have warranty on everything we do whether it is labor warranty or parts warranty for parts we have supplied. Thank you.

First experience with Red Cap was fine and I signed up for their service partner program. Part of this is priority service where you "jump to the head of the line" on service calls. I had a leaky faucet and called them. Was told they had an opening between 10 and 12 noon, which was great. At 1 pm I called and the receptionist didn't know that no one had shown up. Said she would get someone over to handle the problem. They arrived about 2pm. I was told that my faucet was a no name, no-standard faucet and he didn't have parts for this. I told him it was a Delta, from a big box store. He showed me why the parts were non-standard and he'd have to drive about 20 miles to "hopefully" find them. Or, I could just have him replace the faucet. He worked on some numbers, then offered me two options. Hunt for the parts, and hope he could find them, and I would have to pay for all this time (priced out at $353) or replace with one of his faucets, which used standard parts, which also cost $353. Since I'd already paid for the service call I told him to replace the unit. I also asked if the parts wouldn't be available at the big box store, he said he didn't know. While replacing the unit, he began to show me why my water softener wasn't working. I asked him what they offered, and he quoted me a "special price" of only $3500 this week. I passed on this deal. Today, I had another company from Angie's List come out and test my water softener and it is working fine. All in all this was a bad experience. I didn't like the technician, and don't trust what he told me. After reading all the positive reviews listed here, I'm very disappointed, and maybe my experience was an exception, but I won't use Red Cap again.

During a visit with an elderly family member another elderly family member noticed a clogged toilet that was starting to back up. It was approximately midnight when this occurred, but we did not want to leave the home without remedying the situation since it was unknown how it occurred and wanted to pay for it. I called Red Cap since I remembered their commercials and the fact that they seemed to be considerate of the home in their ads. I wanted to put that to the test. Curtis was dispatched and came right away. I believe we were told 25 min, but I know he arrived in 15 min. He was very courteous and even noticed a water heater valve issue which our relative had resolved at a later date with Red Cap. Quick, efficient, polite. Great experience.

Anna was especially helpful in making sure my experience with Red Cap was a good one! She was friendly and professional and went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied with the work completed. We will use Red Cap for all of our rentals! UPDATE **Turns out they didn't fix the leak and the toilet overflowed again causing a water mitigation claim. I ended up having to pay a deductible to my insurance company of $2500 because the leak was not fixed until the next morning when they sent a qualified plumber by the name of Ed. Ed cleared the line and stated that he often has to go behind the other plumber and fix what the first plumber couldn't. The first plumber apparently couldn't find the clear out valve and went through the bathtub and pushed the clog down the line but did not clear it. So the toilet overflowed with water all night. Redcap also left my credit card information with security code and expiration date on the paperwork with my tenant and faxed it to a general mailbox at the insurance company. I had to cancel the card and get a new one. Lots of mistakes! Lots of headaches for me!

I was impressed with Red Cap Plumbing, and more specifically, Edward. Edward was incredibly personable, professional, and his goal was a happy customer. He definitely made us happy! After we had explained our problem(s) to Edward, he gave us several options for repairs, with each line item price listed. It allowed us to review which options we could afford. The options list also showed us that for the price of the two repairs we needed, we could instead replace the toilet all together for just about the same price. Then we decided to upgrade the toilet, to match the dual flush that we have in the master bedroom. To install it was painful for poor Edward. The valves didn't come out of the wall far enough (he had to rework/solder them to fit). He ran into a few other obstacles, but he took his time and made sure he did everything right. In fact, we realized afterwards, that the people who installed the toilet in our master bath did NOT rework the valve. So if we ever had to shut off the water to that toilet, we'd be in trouble. (I will be talking to that company soon.) Not only did Edward do everything correctly and with the goal of making us happy, he told us he wasn't going to leave until it was finished. In my head, I thought "yeah, right"... but Edward stayed until almost 10pm to make sure the job was done!! We are so happy he stayed, and so thankful that Edward was the one sent out. Thanks again, Edward :)

Matt Stone arrived on time and did a preliminary assessment of what was needed by taking the time to sit down with me and having me explain the problem(s). Once he understood and confirmed what I needed, he explained what he was going to do in order to resolve my issues. He began working in a professional, methodical manner and even though the work got messy in the main bathroom when he removed the toilet, he thoroughly cleaned that area as well as the other bathroom when he completed both jobs.. Because of his professionalism and knowledge about the tasks at hand, I purchased a Service Agreement from Red Cap for any plumbing issues I might have in the future.

Great. I was doing laundry in the 1/2 bath laundry room and the shower and toilet started to back up so I needed emergency service. Earl showed up very quickly and snaked the pipe system so now it is draining properly. He also showed me how I can release the pipe outside so that if it happens again it won't back up into the house. He also suggested replacing the flapper valve on the toilet which I can do myself and is interested in giving us a competitive estimate on the cast iron pipe that needs replacement as well as some of the smaller pipes leading to the sinks and toilets that are rusted.

Revising my original review (see below) from an A to an F. While Red Cap ostensibly fixed the problem they caused, they used a Sharkbite fitting for a repair, and the fitting leaked. A year and ten days later, the leak created a hole in the ceiling. Red Cap refused to repair the pipe and fix the hole because the problem made itself known 10 days after their warranty expired (though the leak obviously started well before then). The repair job cost me $475. I used another plumber. Someone called me from Red Cap to investigate the problem, and I have tried several times over several weeks to reach the person who called. My calls aren't returned. In this case, they don't seem interested in doing the right thing. Original review: This wasn't what I'd call a perfect experience, since one of the plumbers didn't test the pipe and caused an overnight leak that led to a ceiling collapse. Still, I'm giving them an A rating because they were friendly and professional and fulfilled all of their obligations. Ceiling fixed, carpet dried and cleaned, etc. Sometimes mistakes are made, but the good companies do whatever is necessary to make things right. Note: for some reason, the name on the invoice is that of my tenant, but I'm the one who paid.

We were going to have the pipes jet cleaned but after inspection it was determined that due to the way the plumbing was installed that they could not guarantee the service. They gave me a price quote to re-pipe the house but we decided to just have them fix the clog and revisit the problem in the future. They are very profesional and were good at explaining the problem. When we began seeking quotes from plumbers in the Tampa area we struggled to find a company that would provide a quote; and if they did provide a quote the cost included dry wall repairs and additional labor costs which exceeded $2400. This process took several months and we were frustrated that it had taken us so long to find a plumber that would do the work let alone avoid the cost of dry wall/paint repairs after they replaced the tank. When we contacted Red Cap plumbing; I was skeptical and requested that they provide an estimate due to the location of the tank. Most plumbers refuse to provide estimates in person for this work and prefered to give you a range of the cost over the phone. Red Cap scheduled a free estimate appointment immediately and assigned to Willie. Willie met with us to provide a quote for the work; he was optimistic that he could replace the tank with no extra costs. During his visit I was still skeptical that he could get the old tank out of the house as it didn't look possible and Willie simply stated I welcome challenges and usually when another plumber said they can't do something he finds the way he can complete the job. After our meeting I still feared we would still be faced with additional costs to cut into the drywall to remove the unit, but agreed to move forward with Red Cap because he convinced me that he believed he could complete the work and no other plumber had demonstrated that positive attitude. The day the service was scheduled Willie arrived on time and went immediately to work to drain the old tank before removing it; he then was very meticulous with removing the old tank so that no marks were made on the surrounding walls. Willie also recommended to install a drain pan and offered a service plan to minimize future plumbing expenses. This experience was the best possible outcome when we were faced with removing dry wall to remove and replace a new unit.
Description of Work: When we bought our house two (2) years ago we learned that the Hot Water Heater was the original unit that the contractor installed when the house was built in 1995. We knew we had to replace the unit quickly to avoid the inconvenience of it failing due to the age of the unit. The challenge was that we had a 50 gallon tank in a crawl space location under the stairs which made it very difficult to service.
