It wasn't really that great. They didn't provide the service that was advertised and then came up with an estimate that wouldn't have actually taken care of the problem I had. If I listened to them, I would have had to pay $5000 to have something done, that wouldn't fix the leak. I paid to get my pipes cleaned but they were not cleaned. They just cleaned one section looking for a leak and I knew they all needed to be cleaned to find the leak. Everything they suggested doing, which also included adding a water softener, which I still failed to see how it would solve a leak, had nothing to do with the area where I knew it was leaking. I didn't wait too long from the time I purchased the Deal to the time they called me to make the appointment and get here. They showed up when they said they would.
Description of Work: It was a Big Deal. It was for cleaning the pipes and also do a camera inspection to find a leak.

Response from Red Cap Plumbing Air and Electrical
I'm sorry for any confussion, our Big Deal is for: - Valid for up to 75 feet of your main sanitary sewer line; extra feet can be purchased for an additional fee - Sewer must have accessible clean-out -Service uses an electric power rod and cutter blade -Televising allows you to see live footage of your sanitary sewer line, including blockages, decay, separation, and broken pipes These bullet points are directly from the Big Deal ad, if you were looking to have more done we can do so but it is not included in the deal. As far as the options left for repair they are based off of that camera inspection, a recommendation of a water softener is typically due to hard water and calcium build up if seen in the lines. We would be happy to work with you on repairs if you decided you wanted to move forward with one of the options but to clean all of the lines you would need a hydro-jetting done which is one of the options the tech left for you. Feel free to contact the office if you would like to speak further about these repairs.

He was prompt, courteous and fastidious. We discussed what I needed to be done. He then gave me price options based on what I might want or not want to be done. He checked and rechecked to make sure he had addressed all my leaking issues with the older plumbing in my house. Very through and neat. I have used Red Cap Pluming in the past, was more than satisfied before and I am so again.

They came to repair that part, but it was still running and leaking. They came back again on 12-19-14 for an appointment for that same problem. I had to call again on 1-2-15 and they said that they would come back out. They came out and told me that they had fixed it. I waited another 2 days and it was still running and leaking. A week later, I had problems getting in contact with them. This third time, they told me that the toilet would need to be replaced. I asked why because they had never said that before. He made excuses about it. I told him that it wasn't fair and asked why he would do that to me. He told me that it would be around $400 to replace it. I told him that there was no way. He called his manager and returned asking me what I was willing to pay. I told him $150. We agreed on that and he came back with another toilet. He came there at 7pm and left by 8. When I saw the toilet the next morning, the seat was a different color and too large, the handle was the wrong color, and the water was still running. I was livid. I called them and the manager came out the next day. The manager told me that he had never seen anything like that. He sent someone else two days ago. They replaced the toilet again for another $150. I could have had an extremely nice toilet for that price overall.

Technician arrived within the time frame promised. Courteous. Spent most of his time trying to up sell us into more expensive work than was needed. Proposed to replace a relatively new toilet because he said there was a leaking seal. Proposed to replace the faucet instead of simply replacing the aerator. Not what we want from a plumbing company. To top it off he did not remove and replace the faucet aerator at all. Instead he gouged out the plastic insert and now the water comes out full force and splashes. I could have done that myself for free. Also the shower head still leaks at the fitting to the pipe coming out of the wall. Not as much as it was, but there is still a leak. We thought a professional plumber would do a better job.

They showed up while the first company I had giving me an estimate was here. They were at least one hour early without calling. They said they couldn't locate a clean out hatch to insert the camera in. I had explained to the office that in the past they had to take the toilet up and use that pipe to use the camera. The lady on the phone said that wouldn't be a problem. Ironically Cornerstone Air, Heating and Plumbing was here and even offered to pull the toilet and the guys could use that location to use the camera, but the Red Cap plumbers declined and told me to just stick with Cornerstone Air, Heating and Plumbing. I was disappointed because I got the impression the 2 plumbers who arrived with Red Cap Plumbing really didn't want to have to work. I specifically wanted a second opinion and Red Cap was not able to provide that second opinion to me. As a result, I received a quote from Cornerstone Air, Heating and Plumbing and will be having them re-plumb my entire bathroom. Red Cap Plumbing won;t be getting my work because it seemed they didn't want to work! I was not charged for the call from Red Cap since they declined the work.

I had two guys come out ..one was the plumber one was the guy with the televising Rod. the plumber waited while the televising guy started his thing. He said I had major blockages. The plumber rodded after that. I turn on the water and it works for five minutes fine. I thought the drain had been cleared. The televising guy told me that the rodding only guarantees water flow and it'll be blocked up real soon. Thanks?!? He gave me three options from $400plys to $3400. later that night I took a shower and it back up in 10 minutes. Arrgghh. I called them to come out the next day , they send a plumber out and said it's not covered under warranty that the rodding only guarantee Water-flow and not actually cleaning your drain, he could go back again but $200 or I could pay him $90 for a jug of biodegrade.. Home Depot sells these for $20. so I want to equipment rental place a few days later and for $30 rented a snake with the cutter on the end and cleared the clog myself no problem since then. Ridicules. I feel like u paid money for them to just givd me a sales pitch. This is a worthless deal

Imagine the panic we felt when late afternoon on New Year's Eve all our toilets and drains became backed up. We called a few other plumbers we had used previously, but they would not respond to our call for emergency help. We were about ready to pack up and go to a hotel, but decided, based on Angie's List reviews, to call Red Cap. What a relief that they had someone available to help us. Within a short time after our call, Carl arrived with a smile and a cheerful Happy New Year greeting. Carl quickly identified the problem of a clogged main drain line, provided a reasonable cost estimate, and set about to fix the problem. Even faulty equipment didn't deter Carl's positive, can-do attitude. He had to make a trip back to the Red Cap shop to pick up new equipment and then come back to our house to finish the job, which he did quickly and efficiently. Based on this experience with Red Cap, I think we've found ourselves a new plumber. We highly recommend Red Cap -- be sure to ask for Carl.

They showed me the camera and it was quite evident that the line was not draining as it should, it backed up into my home. Nasty mess right at Christmas. They came and dug up the line, and before I knew it 3 more plumbers had arrived to assist and get the project moving faster. I am thrilled that my plumbing now works, and without a problem, Christmas was saved. Thank you Red Cap Plumbing for taking care of this so quickly and efficiently and leaving the yard in pretty good shape. They even gave me a bonus. My light post has been on an angle for years and they repositioned it perfectly level and cemented it in for me. Thank you Red Cap, you guys are the best. I would use them again and I would totally recommend them to my friends. They really did a great job with such an ugly problem right at Christmas. I expect to have lots of years with the correct size pipe and also a much better quality pipe. Thank you so much.

When I called Red Cap due to a high water bill and explained that I needed someone to see if I had a leak somewhere, they sent someone right away. After checking my water meter, it was determined I had no leak and that my meter had been read incorrectly so they did not need to do a full inspection. The company was very helpful and responsive and explained everything I need to know about checking my meter in the future.

Rock showed up on time and got right to work. He was knowledgeable about plumbing systems. He had to go through the plumbing vents on the roof but got the job done in about one hour. I had an outside hose spicket that would no longer turn off. The entire hose bib needed replaced and the piece had been soldered on so he had to cut it off to put on a new one. He was great in that he provided an adapter so next time, if needed, just the bib can be replaced. The repair was quick considering the work that needed done and he did it with the sun setting (I found a portable light for him to use although it was not requested, I felt bad it got dark because of the time change and I was the last appointment of the day - I honestly thought he would have to come back the next day). He explained all the pricing options to me and I felt the price was reasonable and it will be paid back by the savings on my water bill!

The pipes work, its just that their work was very sloppy. Where they came through the walls to the toilet. They cut big holes in the back of the cabinets and sinks to run the pipes through. Also cut holes in the garage, where they hooked into the hot water heater. Everything works, it just looks so bad.

This started with a clogged kitchen sink in my rental property. I asked my tenant to arrange to have Red Cap come and provide an estimate for cabling the drain line leading from the kitchen sink and heading towards the street. A tech from Red Cap met my tenant at the house and provided an estimate to me (over the phone) of $179. But, with my tenant in earshot, the tech said cabling would only be a temporary fix due to a build up of grease in the line and talked me into a much more expensive repair (jetting) with a 5-year warranty at a cost of $900. Because I had problems with that drain before, I agreed to the more expensive solution. I called Red Cap's main office to make payment arrangements with my credit card, and told them I had one of their $30 off coupons for jobs over $450. I was told that coupon would be credited to the total. The work was completed (so I was told) the next day. The very next day after that, my tenant informed me the sink was clogged again. Red Cap came back out and I was contacted by a different tech who told me the first guy failed to clean out a segment of the drain closest to the front wall of the house adjacent to the sink. But before I even had the chance to ask him what went wrong the first time, the second tech tried to sell me over $2,000 worth of additional drain cleaning, for drains that have been working fine. Of course, I declined. In retrospect, I should have just cabled the sink drain myself and saved the $900, as the clog couldn't have been more than a few feet from the sink! To add insult to injury, a few days later I checked my credit card statement and saw that the full $900 had been charged, instead of $870 as it should have been, with the coupon. And when I went to pick up the paperwork from my tenant, there was nothing to document the 5-year warranty. I called Red Cap's office and asked them to credit the $30 back to my account and to send me the warranty paperwork. I was told by whoever answered the phone that the particular employees who could help me were unavailable and that someone would call me at 9:30 the next day. That was over a week ago and no one has attempted to contact me. I'm rapidly losing patience with this company. Update 3-19-2015 - They finally credited the $30 and sent me the proof of warranty, and yesterday they had to come back out and clean the line again. Not happy that it clogged again so soon after the line was supposedly jetted, but at least Red Cap honored the warranty. According to my tenant, the plumber was polite, courteous, and professional.

The work was satisfactory done. However, their strong-arm attitude about payment is abysmal. I and my landlord were sent the attached document BEFORE we received an invoice. The red underlines are made by me. They are threating and demeaning. I have never had such a document from any company. Thus, I beg to differ that is the statement "This is a standard business procedure" (in yellow). I will never use this company and will never recommend them. Daniel A Myers 813 760-6781

A notice to owner is a standard practice done by most home service companies. It is filed with the county to inform that work has been done and that if it is not paid a lien can be put on the property. Though the wording may come across rough we have not done anything more then fill out standard paperwork with the county. I am sorry it arrived before an invoice did and if the home owner is not happy about this I ask they call in to the office and ask for myself (Shawn). I would be happy to address this with the person that it was intended for, so I can explain the process to them.

Initially the plan was to place the system on the east side of the house. When Dan and Adam got here after assessing the location of the water and electrical requirements for the softening system, they recommended the west side of the house next to the A/C system. This really was a better choice because it is behind our privacy fence. The workers unfortunately had to deal with a bed of small rocks in that area instead of digging the drain in soil. They were able to complete the job even though they had to stay a little longer than 5 PM on that Friday afternoon. Dan I believe was the Red Cap person mainly in charge and he had completed the necessary forms including the serial and model numbers for us to then easily go online to complete the warranty information that night. Red Cap Plumbing generously gave us a new kitchen faucet with hose and covered the installation since the old one had become "calcified" and did not rotate well. Adam was very neat and cleaned up the kitchen area he had worked in so I had little to do except put items back under the sink afterwards.
Description of Work: A Red Cap representative came to discuss the options for water softening systems going into details about how each worked, the cost differences, and the types we probably needed considering we already have a tankless hot water system. We chose one and it was scheduled to be done the next day. That was completed as planned.

I contacted your company for a toilet issue around October 8 to schedule service purchased through Angies List. A serviceman came out 10/10 and checked out the lines, etc. All clear. Recommended toilet be replaced. Purchased and installed new toilet. Total cost $497. Next serviceman came to do line check. He said main sewer line was clogged with debris and needed to a hydrocleaned. Provided two options. One approximately $1500, the other $2300, both including cost of installing a clean-out outside of house.. I said I was confused by two different opinions and that I would like a call back from the other service person or a supervisor before either service performed. He said that would be fine, but needed to provided deposit of $400, which I did. Service was tentatively scheduled for following Monday 10/13. At approx 4:55 on Fri 10/10 still had no call and called. The receptionist, a young girl, told me someone would call before service performed. On monday 10/13, no call. I called and spoke with receptionist again. All were in meeting but someone would call before coming out. A serviceman called, I explained history and he said he would come out and make everything right. He did. Two gentlemen came out and assessed. I told them I only wanted main line and check the vents too. He did and said good news it will only cost $1150 because it was simpler job--there already was a clean out outside house. Good, so I had them complete and paid them $1150, figuring two of three though the lines were bad and while I regretted paying $497 for a new toilet when it was the sewer lines, I was happy. I later learned that the deposit check was deposited. So for the $1150 job, I paid an additional $400. I called twice after and talked to the same young girl, two other women. First one said couldn't understand the problem. Second one did, and said she would resolve it and credit back the deposit or call me. Now it is almost two weeks later and no one has called, I have not been reimbursed and I feel like I was worked over, they have my money and have no interest in resolving. I have called twice, explained the problem, and yet they have done nothing. I find this unacceptable.
Description of Work: Contacted Redcap after purchasing special on Angies List. Arrived on 10/ to assess problem with toilet that kept clogging. First service person assessed and indicated the toilet was the problem. Recommended replacement, which I did. Another person said line was clogged, which I did. Overpaid for service quoted that included work that was not done/necessary (install clean out outside of house)

I was promptly scheduled appointment for the following day between 8-12. I hadn't heard from anyone by 1130 on appoinment day so I called and was told they would be here in the afternoon. The first truck arrived at 1:45 and completed clearing the drain line by 2:15. At that time I was advised that the second truck might not make it today and they could be here first thing in the morning. I told the technician that was unacceptable as I couldn't miss another day of work. He stated that they may have to schedule it for Saturday if I wasn't available. The technician said he would pass my concern on to the dispatcher and left the premises. The second truck arrived at 3:15 to do the televisioning of the drains. All employees were professional and polite. The dispatcher did call later in the day to verify that all services had been completed and that I was satisfied.
