Paul was very professional and honest in the initial inspection of the house. Rather than taking on everything to maximize cost, he recommended that I hire an electrician to do wiring work before finishing up the drywall. When the time came to finish the job, he was able to come out and do it on very short notice, and his drywall tech did a superb job of patching and matching the texture on the wall. He was thorough in his clean-up and left our house in great shape.

Excellent Job - James did the initial site visit and did all the drywall install and finishing (we did the demolition). He was very professional and a perfectionist which reflected in the finished product. He took pride in his work and did not take any shortcuts. He replaced drywall and supports on brick wall that needed to be repaired to better support the drywall. The finish was "knock down" on the ceiling and "orange peel" on the walls. James also advised us on the correct order and materials for demolition, preparation and finishing the walls (sanding, priming, cauking) which helped ensure a good finish to the project. Coordination with Paul for the site visit and estimate was good. We definitely recommend Paul's Home Pro Service, LLC and will use them again for other remodeling.

After many frustrating attempts to get a contractor to return phone calls or even show up to the job cite. I joined Angie's List this year at the Home Show in Tampa. One good investment in my book. I am attempting to get into some house flipping projects to supplement my retirement income. Folk's this is not as easy as the TV shows make it out to be. This is where I found "Paul's Homepro Service", while browsing thru the "Handyman" category. I called Paul and talked about my project. Soon after he was at the job cite going thru the house and coming up with some great ideals, many I had not thought of myself. Paul has a very unique way of saving big money with the materials he uses. He has an established group of professionals he works with when the job requires more then one man. His prices are very reasonable, but most of all his fresh approach to a project is what impressed me. Paul is a "Licensed Certified Residential Contractor" which means he can accomplish just about anything you need done. The first thing that impressed me the most about Paul was his honesty. He is not out trying to spend every penny you own to get your project done. His work ethic is something I have not seen for many years, it is that of my Fathers generation. I had a limited amount of time to get inspections done, estimates for my project etc. before I was bound to the purchase of this home. I had many contractors come to my job cite, all specializing in different areas. None of them gave me the advice that Paul did. I did not realize at the time that one contractor like Paul could accomplish all the areas I needed done. Using Paul's advice he saved me from a disaster which could have put me at a major lost. Paul and I are talking about my next project now. I highly recommend Paul to anyone in need of such services. I know for a fact I will use Paul again, and again for future projects. I put my reputation on the line here also. Captain Bill Brody B-747-400/ Test Pilot/Check Airman
Description of Work: Paul came out to my home for a free estimate on some remodeling I needed done to my home. This was a major remodel project.
I didn't have a good experience with this provider. First, I had to wait a long time to get him to come to my house for an estimate (several weeks), and I was willing to do this because of all the strong reviews on Angie's List. Then, on the morning he was scheduled to show up to do the estimate, he phoned to tell me that he wouldn't be able to come because his wife was ill and had been hospitalized. I expressed my sympathies, whereupon he changed his mind and said that he would be able to come after all. When he showed up later that morning he said that he no longer does does electrical work and that he might not be able to install the microwave because of a bad back. This was odd because on Angie's List at that time he was offering a coupon special for fan installation (as I discovered when I checked later on). Although I thought his estimate of $600. was high I accepted it, again because of all the good reviews; I was also tired of looking around for a decent handyman. On the day the work was scheduled to be done--again, it was several weeks later, a long wait--Paul left me a message to say that he would be unable to show up that day after all. This time it was his dog who was ill. No one loves dogs more than I do, but I thought it was a bit much for Paul to keep me waiting so long, both for the estimate and for the work, and then stand me up at the very last minute. In both cases I had made special arrangements to be at home when he was scheduled to be there. At that point I decided I didn't want to work with him, although it was a nuisance to have to start all over again to find someone else to to the tasks that needed doing. My impression is that Paul doesn't really want to do mundane jobs like the ones I needed. He wants to do more more ambitious and creative work, like building interesting decks and larger remodeling jobs. This is perfectly okay, but he should acknowledge this fact and not waste the time of prospective customers like me. I found him to be unreliable and unprofessional.
Description of Work: Paul provided an estimate for several small jobs around my home, such as repairing cabinet latches, installing a new microwave oven, installing a new overhead fan, etc.

Paul helped me come up with a unique, one-of-a-kind deck that captured my vision almost to a tee. If you have something totally custom in mind, and need help ironing out the details, Paul is great at this. He took the extra time to sit with me and draw out detailed sketches that were tailored to my backyard environment. He pays attention to detail. He even thought about how my electric panel box door swings out, and he made a door on the deck floor that can be opened in the event that that electrical panel needs to be accessed. He maintained schedule, and got done ahead of schedule on my job. He is responsive, and returns calls/questions. He even texted me pictures to show me daily progress. He's trustworthy, and you won't worry about him being alone at your house while you're at work. I would highly recommend working with Paul.

Thank you for your review concerning a recent visit for a free estimate. My understanding of the work involved repairs due to damages resulting from a leaking water heater which resulted in flooding of the first floor of your town home. You filed an insurance claim and accepted a check for damages. You mentioned the insurance estimate included repairs using like, kind and quality materials for items damaged. I understood you hoped to upgrade the linoleum flooring to tile and replace all kitchen cabinets, not just the lower cabinets that had been damaged in the loss. You were also hoping for other upgrades in the guest bath. I understood you wanted all of the upgrades to be completed within the monies allotted by the insurance company with no out of pocket expenses to you. I tried to educate you on the differences in work done property and issues that can result when short cuts are taken. My purpose in doing so was to help protect the integrity of the home and you as a homeowner. I apologize for any micommunication which may have resulted.

Paul did an excellent job. We are very pleased with his work. He spent a lot of time at the beginning of the job to make sure he understood exactly what we wanted. From the moment he walked into our home, I felt we were in good hands. Very nice demeanor, taking much time and effort to address our problem. Along with impressive credentials, his knowledge and ability to describe issues in laymen's terms were quite impressive. It went very well. He seems to be passionate about his craft/profession. We've more to do; however, I felt this warranted a positive review.

This review is long overdue - I should have posted this months ago! The home I purchased had a very precarious mailbox that fell over at the slightest touch. When my mail carrier left us a note saying that they were going to stop delivery if I didn't fix it right away, I knew it was well past time to fix things. I contacted Paul to get an estimate and he replied the same day, and was able to come out the very next morning to install the mailbox and post that I had already purchased. He was prompt, and did a great job. My mail carrier even came up to the house not long ago to tell me how good the new box setup is. I work from home and it's really important for me to be able to rely on my mail being delivered. Thanks for helping us out of a pinch!

I was in need of quick action to move my wall back 5 inches to accommodate a new sub-Zero type refrigerator that we were replacing at counter depth. Since installation of my entire kitchen was waiting on a last minute discovery that the wall needed to be moved, Paul came to the rescue after our initial phone conversation and sending a few pictures. I had arranged to have electrical moved so Paul could focus on the wall. He arrived on time, was EXTREMELY professional in helping me figure out what measurements we needed for clearance of new appliance door to open properly. He had to move and replace floor tiles, match curved wall edges and match out knock down texture on the walls. To our amazement he delivered beyond our expectations and matched everything flawlessly. He was organized, prompt, accurate with the quote, and his work was well thought out ahead of time so he had no mistakes. WOW! He was thrown into our project under pressure and we were lucky to find him. I will use Paul on the many other projects we have coming up and highly recommend his work (and my husband is meticulous about these things).

Paul is the BEST HANDYMAN around. I must thank Snap-fix at Angie's List for recommending his FANTASTIC service to me to do the job. He re-attached my under-counter stainless steel sink to my granite counter top which had become separated on the side by my garbage disposal from the granite. Paul of" Paul's Home Pro Services" being the expert tradesman for detail and perfection told me the proper method of re-attaching the sink is to totally remove it from under the counter, clean the old sealant off, and then re-seal the sink to the granite. He then braced the sink up with special braces until the sealant dried. After doing so, he re-attached the plumbing then checked it for any leaks. WHAT A PRO !!!! I will definitely use Paul's service again and recommend him to others who need a HANDYMAN WHO DOES THINGS RIGHT !!! THANK YOU PAUL FOR THE EXCELLENT JOB YOU DID AT MY HOME !!!

The provider seemed busy at the time of the call. What I didn't expect was for him to pull out a number of 150.00 dollars. For what? Ok, too busy for an estimate? Don't do free estimates? Ok, then I would understand a nominal fee, 30.00 or even 50.00 dollars. He stated 150.00 is the minimum, and I would assume any real repair would be ridiculously priced. I thought I called a Handyman, not a class A or C General Contractor! If he's busy, I assume his work is great --so i hate to be negative in my review. But I am frustrated trying to find someone capable and reasonable. It seemed he was too busy for a small job, and pulled an unreasonable number out to blow me off. I'd prefer to see this right up front---minimum job, 150.00. That way i don't waste my time or theirs.
Description of Work: The Provider expected me to take a picture of what I needed done, or e-mail pictures. The job, though 'small" requires someone to see what the problem is and recommend a solution.

The great thing about Paul is that he is skilled and responsible to his tradecraft. He shows up when he says he will and he is on time and does things the right way. He is a non-smoker who is friendly with pets and kids even if they occasionally bother him, and who is great to have around the house. He works hard and shows careful attention to detail, while also ensuring that the project stays on a time schedule and comes to completion in a reasonable period. We really like our new bathroom and we were so happy that Paul's Home Pro did the work.

Paul took down the porch ceiling and traced the leak to faulty flashing and faulty installation on the tin portion of the roof. He also found the studs to hang the ceiling drywall were spaced too far apart. He and his team corrected the problems with the roof and replaced the porch ceiling. He found another leak which was dripping into the front bedrooms. Paul brought back the roofer amd found faulty naling of the asphalt shingles allowed nails to rust out and leak. Cracks also were leakiing in the dormer walls. All of these were corrected and no more leaks have occurred. They also conducted a complete inpection of the roof. Paul is a consumate professional, very reliable and thorough. He fired subs who were not performing or who were late. He was very fair on costs and made several cost savings recommendations. He communicated regularly with us, very important as we were managing this job over a few months time from our other home in California. He also documented his work with pictures of the job as it progressed. We highly recommend Paul Schramm. He's a true pro in his field

I learned early on in this project that it is extremely difficult to find a skilled carpenter interested in "create from scratch" custom built-in work. Most tradesmen I spoke with tried to steer me toward pre-fab units that did not exactly meet my functional requirements. I was encouraged after speaking with Paul (owner) on the phone, he seemed very enthusiastic about my project. We arranged a site visit to discuss the work further. During the site visit, Paul offered several design ideas that could meet my specific storage/display needs. His creativity and depth of knowledge impressed me and we decided to move forward with one of his ideas. Paul's completed work exceeded my expectations. I absolutely love to show it off and have received rave reviews. I can easily recommend Paul's Home Pros for a variety of carpentry jobs. That recommendation goes double for those "one off" jobs that require both skill and creativity. Some additional supporting comments on Paul's Home Pros: Cleanliness- those that have lived through construction projects know how challenging this can be. Paul and crew were very careful to minimize any/all debris. A hi-tech vacuum system was actually used during many of the sanding/cutting operations, Paul also performed/staged as much of the work as possible outside the house. Communication- this never seems to be a contractor's strong suit. Not a problem here. Paul was always reachable via text/phone/email whenever I needed to speak with him - which was not very often since he always kept me updated on project status. Skill/Experience- Paul has a unique mix of education (engineering) and actual carpentry experience. His analytical approach and attention to detail are truly refreshing in our "slap it together" world. My project contained some complicated design parameters, Paul's understanding of these were key to the success of this work. Schedule: this project did take a bit of time to complete. Most of the stops/restarts were because of things beyond Paul's control (I actually made some changes midstream). The important thing was that I felt that the project was always being well managed. Professionalism- Paul and his crew were very polite and respectful throughout the process. Having workers in your home is always an intrusion, this helps smooth it out. Contingency Planning- Things can and do go wrong with any home improvement project. I was afraid that my changes (I needed to move shelves late in the project) would derail all progress. These were effectively managed to minimize schedule impact. Cost- Hard to judge with a "one off" project but I definitely thought I got my money's worth. In summary: Kudos to Paul's Home Pros for a job well done. If you are in need of skilled carpentry work, give Paul a call.

Today he came out as planned- a few minutes past the the time we had set. I brought him in and showed him the closet and reviewed what I needed done that we had discussed on the phone. He pulled out his ipad and started looking up my information. He asked me if the phone number he had for me was correct (it was a totally different number). Then he said let him start over, and he asked me what my last name was and my phone number and entered it. Then he gestured at the closet and asked "Is this it?" with the meaning "isn't there any more to this job?" He proceeded to tell me that he is in the middle of a total bathroom remodel and is getting 30-50 calls a day, that he is a "one man show" and is totally slammed. He had no plans to complete the job today as agreed upon and didn't recall that he was supposed to do so. He said he came out to look at the job and then work up an estimate. He clearly had not kept notes of our conversation or of the photos, and he said he had not even brought his trailer with his tools. He said there must have been a miscommunication and that these things are "bound to happen." Then he complained about how long it took him to get to my house (45 minutes), and that he was going to lose 2 hours and would have to charge me an exorbitant amount if he did the job. He wasn't sure when he would be able to get to me with everything else he has going on- possibly 7-10 days- but he was very vague about exactly when. He clearly did not want to take the job. He said anyone with bolt cutters who could find a couple of studs could do it and that it was not a skilled job- that I should find someone close by. I am frustrated because I asked specifically on the phone if this job was something he did and if it was too small for him, and he said "no, I do everything." I live in an area he services according to his Angie's List information, so he shouldn't have been surprised about how long it took to get here. If he doesn't want to travel 45 minutes for a job he should take this area off his list. Likewise, if he doesn't want to do small jobs like mine, he should say that on the ad and definitely on the phone. He needs to: keep much better customer records; take notes about what he has agreed to do and when and for what cost; hire more help; stop complaining to customers that he is too busy; and learn what it means to be professional, or he will not be getting Angie's List Awards in the future. As for me, I will look elsewhere for a real professional, but in the meantime, I have lost 8 days waiting for him, I will have to wait additional time for another handyman to fit me into his schedule, and my clothes remain wrinkled in piles on a bed in the guest room.
Description of Work: I did not have the service performed. I wanted to have two clothes-hanging wire shelves installed in an existing closet because the one my son had installed had pulled out of the wall and fallen. I wanted to hire a professional this time to be sure the right supplies were used and it was anchored securely. I called Paul after reading numerous glowing reviews. He sounded a bit irritated and distracted on the phone, but I figured I had interrupted him at work so I didn't hold that against him. I told him what I needed done, and he told me he had a special going on- $250 for three hours of handyman services- and that he would be able to complete it in the allotted time. It was a lot to pay to have two wire shelves hung, but I thought it was worth it to get it done right. The soonest he could come was 8 days awayt, but I was willing to wait for quality work. He said to send him measurements and photos of what kind of shelving I wanted and of the closet, and he would pick up everything needed from Home Depot on the way to my home and be able to get it all done without having to go get supplies. I sent him the measurements and 11 photos. When he took my address he mentioned that he didn't do much work in the area I live in. I gave him directions.

Paul was timely in responding to Angie's List email. I sent him a picture of the bathroom wall where a plumber torn the drywall in search of a leaking pipe. Paul gave a quote estimate to fix. He arrived promptly for scheduled service. Paul was honest and able to communicate what work was needed with a cost breakdown. This repair was on a rental property and I was out of town, so communication was important to me. I will definitely recommend and use Paul's Home Pro Service again in the future.

It was a professional job! I felt at ease with Paul's worker as he was extremely knowledgeable and worked smart to avoid any plumbing problems. He even helped me make some carpentry cuts when he knew he was more experienced then I was. He made several trips to complete the project when my granite vanity top shipment arrived broken by the delivery company. I will always call Pauls' Home Pro Service and tell my friends. The job looks great.
Description of Work: Removed old toilets and pedestal sink, then installed new toilet and vanity.

Paul's price, experience and Angie's List ratings were all right in line with the other 2 bids we obtained before starting this $10,000 job. What set him apart is his professionalism, eye for design, integrity and prompt responses. We couldn't be happier with the work product or the decision to work with Paul and his team. Paul and his lead architect came to the house twice before starting the job to ensure everything would run smoothly. They arrived on time everyday, worked full days, were mindful of our dogs and kids, and took the time to explain to me each step of the process. There were a couple changes to our original plans, and he talked me through why and how before proceeding. I asked him to work on our deck as he would his own, and he reiterated that several times. Based on the final product, I'm sure that's what they did. We would definitely recommend Paul and his team, and we intend to call him soon for some indoor remodeling.

Paul was on time and prepared for the work ahead. He consulted with me on exactly what he would be doing. He was professional, pleasant and equipped with higher end tools to get the job done. He spent several hours completing the work, consulting with me a few different times. I was very pleased with his work, especially as most fence companies didn't want anything to do with just replacing the gate, unless I agreed to have them replace the entire fence. I would not hesitate to use him again.
Description of Work: Replaced fence gate and replaced and painted mailbox post.

We recently purchased a newly constructed home, and wanted to replace a standard bathtub with a jacuzzi bathtub. This required removing the existing tub, surrounding tiles, and replacing with the new tub and partially re-tiling the wall and floor. It was important that the job be done quickly, before we actually moved into the home. Paul answered my call promptly, asked me to email photos to him, gave us a fair bid, and served as contractor to oversee an electrician and plumber for specialized jobs. He also installed a laundry room sink and extended a hose bib to inside our lanai. He was very prompt, courteous, and professional. He reported progress to me daily, and confirmed all steps of the process. His work was excellent in all regards. We would definitely hire Paul again. A+++++++

On 2/10/15, I called Paul and asked for an estimate for recaulking my bathtub. Paul asked me to send pictures, which I did that night. On 2/11/15, Paul texted me back and asked me to call at my convenience. I called and left a message on his voicemail. He called be back a short time later and we discussed his diagnosis of the issue. Paul said that he could recaulk the tub and temporarily address the issue, but he felt it would be a better plan to retile the bathtub/shower area, because the mildew in the caulk was likely caused by moisture in the walls. By replacing the tile and laying down a special waterproof layer called Kerdi, my problems would be solved forever. I thought about the options for a while, contacting Paul on 2/13, 2/17, and 2/19/15 for clarification; Paul was responsive and helpful every time. I tested the bathroom for mold spores and found none, and looked at my bank account and found little there as well, so I opted for the Band-Aid of recaulking the bathtub. Around this time, I had a death in my family, so this fell off my radar. On 3/16/15, I contacted Paul with a new plan. I developed a list of handyman projects I needed done: recaulk the bathtub, recaulk the bathroom window, hang a Hyloft storage device in the garage, hang two shelves in different rooms, hang a large mirror, and install two magnetic doorstops in different rooms. Paul asked for pictures again, and I sent them that night. On 3/17/15, Paul called me back and quoted $850 for the jobs. We negotiated for him to do the work on Friday, 4/3/15, starting at 9:00am. On 4/3/15, Paul and his crew arrived timely and went right to work. They were efficient and busy, doing a great job on every task. Hanging the Hyloft in the garage caused a lot of trouble; it took them a couple of hours. Paul kindly tried to explain the problem to me, something about joists being misaligned, but if I understood what he was talking about, I wouldn?t need him to do the work. :) Paul was done by mid-day and the price was exactly as quoted, $850. I am completely satisfied with his work. If/when I have the money, I plan to use Paul to retile my bathrooms.
Description of Work: Paul and his team completed a list of handyman tasks that I am too inept to do myself. Seriously, I should not be allowed around tools.
