Called company that morning and they dispatched tech later that day. Tech showed up on time and explained what was wrong and how much repair would be. Tech also checked coolant and suggested filling up. Tech was polite.

Still Bad.
Description of Work: This place is terrible! They installed my A/C with the wrong vent kit. It was condensating a couple gallons of water a day for months. I had to call the manufacturer myself to finally get this issue fixed. They NEVER call you back if you have a problem! I am still trying to get this job completed. It has been months. I will never use this company again….EVER. Seriously.

Description of Work: I had them replace my entire air conditioning system with a 13 SEER heat pump system made by Ruud. While replacing, they informed me my air ducts were horribly dirty so I let them come and clean the ducts also on that same day. It took the entire day to do the jobs, everything seemed to go pretty well. About 2 weeks later I noticed water stains on my ceiling and called them right away. At first they tried to say it wasn't the air handler, which was in the attic, but we had not had any rain at all so I knew it had to be that. They did get someone out that same day to fix it. It turns out the original people had installed the drain improperly and it was backing up into the air handler and eventually onto my ceiling. They were very good about fixing everything immediately at no extra cost, however my Saturday plans were ruined and I really expected the job to be done right the first time, as I was told these workers had a lot of experience. Nick, the person who came to fix everything, was very knowledgable and did a great job. They finally came back one more time to put in a new main return duct that they said I really needed, and I agreed, it was from 1974 and in bad shape. While there they also tried to KILZ spray my ceiling stains and did a very poor job. I had to clean up after them as they had paint overspray on the wall and vent. Overall it was a stressful experience. I think they are an ok company. At least they were good about correcting their mistakes quickly with a smile. In today's climate, that is hard to find. The owner seemed like a decent person and he was responsive to my concerns.

We have a heat pump heat/air system that was originally installed by Ocean Air and was still under warranty at the time of this issue. It was during a cold snap that lasted over a week when our heating system failed. I phoned for service and was told that they were very busy with the cold weather, and that they couldn't come out for 4 days. I made an appointment. The day before the appointment, someone from Ocean Air called and left a voice message requesting a call-back and said that they'd like to change my appointment to a few days later. I called back the same day to ask for the original appointment as I was caring for an invalid in the home with no heat. They had already changed my appointment for the following week and said that they could not change it back. (The woman I spoke to didn't even offer an apology for the inconvenience.) When they finally came out, it was almost 2 weeks after my original call for service. I was told that a valve was bad, but that they did not have the part in stock and would have to order it so it would be a few days. I finally called them a week later to find out if the part was in, only to find that it had been sitting there for several days and nobody had bothered to call to set up the follow-up service call. I made an appointment for 2 days later and the part was installed. Everything seemed to be working well when the technician turned the system on, but the weather had warmed and the heat was not needed. It was turned off the moment he was done. About a week after the new part was in, I left town for 6 days and left someone else caring for my housebound relative. The weather cooled and the heat was not working the day after I left (a little more than a week after the part was installed, the very first time that it was needed after the service call) but I was not notified until my return to town. I immediately called Ocean Air and told them that the heat had stopped working. They insisted that I pay for another service call to have the system checked because too much time had passed (about 2 weeks!) When the Ocean Air technicians and quot;checkedand quot; the system, they told me that I had no coolant because there was a leak in the coils and that I should replace the whole unit, inside and out. I told them that I would have to think about what I wanted to do. Then I called someone else. By this time, my relative could be left unattended for a long enough period for me to observe the technician from the other service from start to finish. The very first thing he did after opening up the outside unit was pressurize the system with nitrogen. Even I could immediately tell where the very noticeable leak was ... an incomplete seal around the valve that Ocean Air had just installed! (The technician from the other company fixed the bad seal and recharged the system. I have had not one hiccup with the heating/cooling system in more than 1.5 years since.) As far as I'm concerned, Ocean Air owes me since they botched everything about the job. I should have asked Ocean Air to reimburse me for the second service call from them. They either failed to find the problem that they had themselves caused or they tried to cover it up/stick it to the stupid woman who wouldn't know any different by telling me to replace the whole system. I should also have asked Ocean Air to reimburse me for what should have been an unnecessary service call from another company, the repair, and the replacement of the coolant that should never have been lost in the first place if Ocean had done their job properly the first time or if they had found and fixed the problem when I paid them to return. (You know, the problem that they had caused by not checking the seal on the replacement valve before evacuating/recharging the system.) Or, better yet, I should have asked Ocean Air to refund all fees paid to *them* for their incomplete repair, as the second company performed the task at a greatly discounted rate. And, finally, I should have posted this review over a year ago! I will never use them again and advise others to stay away from them as well.
Description of Work: Replace valve, recharge system. Then, when the system failed again the very next time it was used due to their failure to check a seal, (mis)diagnose the problem and tell me the whole unit needed to be replaced. It didn't.

Description of Work: I asked for a quote for a new heating & cooling system and they came right out to inspect the house. They then sent me a very poorly written email with the quote. I had to call back many times to get clarification. The they did not call back and after three weeks I called them and they then said oh we don't install that kind of equipment any more. Bottom line if they can not even give a quote in a timely fashion and the after three weeks say they can't do the job, - don't use them.

Existing unit failed during one of the coldest days of winter. Ocean Air replaced HVAC the next day, (Saturday) with a modern more efficient unit. Technicians were knowledgeable, courteous and professional in all respects. Cleanup was thorough. Outside components were properly anchored as required by new codes. This is the 3rd unit/installation I have purchased from Ocean Air and would not hesitate to use their company for future HVAC needs. I highly recommend Ocean Air.
Description of Work: Replaced 2.5 ton A/C unit for single family home. Installation service included replacing elevated outside pad, sacrificial metal, replacing/rewrapping pipe insullation, installing inside/outside HVAC components, modifying ductwork to complement new unit, and installing new thermostat. All old materials were hauled off.

They offered a much better piece of equipment for a better price. This company offered a good brand, as opposed to the no-name brands of the competition. The guy came out on time and discussed everything with me. He seemed well-informed.

All employees were extremely responsive from the office staff to service personnel. My mother is a 91 year old Hospice patient and my concern for heat was expressed. They could not come the day I called, but came first thing in the morning. They tried to come the day I Called but they were on overload with calls due to the extreme cold. The office staff continually called to keep me posted as to when they could fit us in. They came first thing in the morning as promised and the serviceman, Chris was great explaining how we could create more heat in our home by changing the heat strip. Well, they came the second day as promised, with a lot of follow up calls to assure me they were coming. My mother being a Hospice patient caused me to call frequently and Liilian and Natalie in the office were so patient, concerned and courteous with me. On the second day of their arrival to install the strip Dwayne (service man)and Chris Spring/owner came out to finish the job and make sure we were OK. What a company! Great service and great people! I would defintely call them again. All previous service calls from this company have been great with quick and efficient service. By the way, this house has never been this warm!
Description of Work: We had no heat during one of our coldest winters and they came out to restore heat in our home by changing our 5kw heater strip to a 10kw heater kit and adding freon.

I called them first thing on a Monday morning and they were at my door within an hour. The repair technicians were professional, and the repair was completed in about an hour. They seemed honest, and their quote on a new system seemed fair. I have used this company numerous times in the past and have always received excellent service and response times.
Description of Work: 2 service persons were promptly dispatched in response to my complaint that my ancient A/C unit was not cooling. They were able to fix the problem by piggy-backing a capacitor to the compressor's circuit board. Additionally, I had them clean off the condenser coils in an effort to extend the system's lifespan as much as possible. At my request, they provided me with a low-pressure estimate to replace/upgrade my system and offered to apply the repair costs as a down-payment.

He came on a Friday. The air conditioner did not work over the weekend. He came Monday with a bill. I told them it did not work. They did more repairs and charged me $400. Chris guaranteed me that the repair would work. I called them three days later because the air conditioner was still not working. They came on Saturday and said the filter was dirty (on the second unit not the one being repaired). Nothing was ever done to correct. We finally purchased a new unit from someone else and have been very happy.
Description of Work: The air conditioner was not working. We asked them to fix it. The money was not an issue, the quality was. Chris guaranteed that the repairs would make it work.

This is the third time that I have used the services of Ocean Air Conditioning and have been pleased with them each time. Fernando was polite, conscientious and thorough. He was straightforward in discussing my 18-year old A/C unit's condition and never tried to pressure me into replacing it, even though it's running on borrowed time. I intend to always call Ocean Air Conditioning first whenever I need work done on my HVAC.
Description of Work: My A/C unit quit working on a Friday afternoon amidst a ferocious electrical storm. I called Ocean Air Conditioning the following Monday and they were able to come to my house later that afternoon. It turns out that the air handler drain line had become clogged with debris. They cleared and cleaned out the line, then drained all the accumulated water from the drain pan.

I WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN FOR ANYTHING. THE WORKER THEY SENT WAS INSISTANT UPON HAVING ME ORDER WORK THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE. THE $100 FEE WAS A LITTLE HIGH BUT I NEEDED THE WORK DONE ON SHORT NOTICE. THE INSISTANCE ON WORK THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE WAS INEXCUSABLE.
Description of Work: THE DRAIN IN MY A/C HANDLER IN THE ATTIC BECAME PLUGGED. THE PAN OVERFLOWED INTO MY ATTIC AND CONSEQUENTLY THE WATER LEAKED THROUGH MY CEILING. I CALLED TO HAVE THE DRAIN UNPLUGGED. THE WORKER WHO RESPONDED EXAMINED THE UNIT AND STATED THE COIL HAD BUILDUP AND COULD CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE BUT THAT THE WHOLE UNIT IN THE ATTIC SHOULD BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE COIL WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO GET TO. HE WAS ADAMANTLY INSISTENT ON REPLACING THE ENTIRE UNIT IN THE ATTIC AT A COST OF $1600 INSTEAD OF JUST CLEANING THE DRAIN FOR $100. I HAD TO ARGUE WITH HIM TO GET HIM TO DO WHAT I HAD ASKED TO BE DONE. I WOULD HAVE USED ANOTHER COMPANY BUT I WAS IN A BIND WITH NEEDING THE WORK DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE FINALLY CLEANED THE DRAIN LINE OUT. A YEAR LATER, THE SYSTEM IS STILL WORKING FINE.
