Response from Jack O Trades
There is quite a bit left out of this review as to how this project actually materialized. Multiple revisions to the job, a defective product requiring repeat visits to resolve and the need to pull off the job when mold was discovered on day two for a remediation company to come in and do a portion of the work which we had originally bid to do. This required a complete reworking of our schedule that week and several return trips over the next month to complete the work around this altered schedule. As we always do, we provide an upfront cost for the work to be done, at which point our clients make their own decision weather to move forward with the work. We bid the projects for what we feel is fair for the work that is presented to us, which, often overlooked, goes beyond merely the time spent on the job site. We presented [Member Name Removed] our estimate, which he approved and scheduled the work for the following week. We completed all of the work originally asked of us, outside of the wrench that the mold remediation work introduced to the project, at a reduced price from our original bid and dealt with all of rescheduling to get the project completed. In closing, it's hard for me to understand how a client approves an estimate, we work around the franticness of what comes up during the work in order for the job to be done correctly, reduce the cost for work performed by others and then at the end of the job we "grossly overcharged" for the work, puzzling.
