Jack O Trades

I never met the owner of the company although he and I corresponded by email, texts and phone calls. The worker (handyman) who provided both the estimate and the services was on time and pleasant. However, communication between the three of us (myself, the owner and the worker) was sadly lacking. I never spoke with them together and felt the job I hired them to do suffered as a result. I am moving into a new home and wanted to make some needed repairs as well as some esthetic changes. First, a back story. Some years ago, when I lived in an older home, I hired a Handyman Company to repair some holes in my sons room and paint the walls. He said that, after looking at the holes, he would not fix or paint because the wiring in the house (behind the walls) were old and dangerous and that he could not in all good conscience perform the work. I hired him to rewire the house as well as many other tasks and appreciated the fact that he did not just patch some holes, paint and take my money. I did not get this same service with Jack O Trades. The handy man did only what I asked, without giving me the benefit of his experience, which appeared to be considerable. As a result I ended up with half a 'textured' ceiling. As a 65 year-old male who did professional work most of his life, I have limited knowledge of the finer points of home repair. I have done many home projects myself but with a 'learn as you go' type of attitude (and result). For instance, I did not know the difference between texturing a piece of drywall and painting it. So when my outside porch ceiling, which is made of drywall whose tape was peeling off from the Florida humidity, was fixed (taped and patched, not mudded as originally requested) I had no idea that part of it was textured. When I asked what 'texturing ' was, the handyman showed me by showing me one of the walls in my home. Instead, he could have pointed at the ceiling and said, "That part is textured. The part I patched is not!" Then, I would have known that, in order to have a uniformed ceiling, I should have the whole thing textured! And I would have! This showed in the other projects performed. Ceiling fans were put up without note given to the settings of the remote controls. They were the same type of fans, put 10 -15 feet apart. One should have been put up, then synced to the remote. Then the other put up and synced to its remote. This way, each individual remote would control its own individual fan. Instead, the fans were put up and then the remote control turned on. Now, when I turn one fan on, the other shuts off. When I speed up one fan, the other slows down. They also turn in two different directions. I have to take off the motor housing in order to correct the direction of the fan. I paid so I would not have to do these things. I am disabled and cannot do some things that may appear to be a simple fix to others. All in all, pleasant people to work with, but a bit on the expensive side for the casual attitude presented. I did not appreciate being told that, because "the owner's overhead was high" and that "being on Angie's list was expensive', the estimates were higher than others I may have received. I also had to haul away all materials myself. The 3 ceiling fans taken down and the old door. Of course, nothing in the contract said it was to be hauled away, it was just assumed by myself to be part of the clean-up. But, the fans have not fallen down. The door works and looks good (we picked it out), The locks are in and working and the painting I wanted them to do was done at 1/3 of the price by another company. Hopefully, the work done on the roof around the chimney will hold up as I cannot get up there to check it out. So you see, my confidence is low. Update since last review, a patch of gasket placed around the front door for sealing has since come off. ( After 1 month) Since receiving a 'C' rating, no one from this company has tried to contact me regarding my review.

He was fantastic. Everything was done timely. He actually hires subs to do the work and he coordinated all of it. He's actually the one that comes out and make sure that they get in and get out and do what they're supposed to do and clean everything up. He has a lot of background doing constructions work so he has a lot of great design and suggestions on how I could do things better. He was really great and followed through, everything was timely as he promised and everything was done exactly the way that I wanted it. He said he'll coordinate all of the different people that I need to come in here and they're all licensed in their particular areas. He admitted that I was paying more for his services than I would have hired individual people myself. It was worth it for me to pay a little more for that service and I don't think it was significantly more.

I called and made an appointment. My schedule was hectic and I missed an appointment time. Even through all that Logan was able to take of my needs. Give him a call and he will take care of all your needs!

He actually got sick and went to the hospital but his assistant called us and told us he was having a stroke but he did get better and finished the job. Good worker!!!

We used someone but wished we had used him when we were all done.

Kenny was always on time and professional. He gave suggestions, worked hard, and cleaned up after himself. Work was done within time frame given, and he took the time to pay attention to details. I plan to use this company for any future projects and would recommend them to others.

Brian showed up on-time, got set right up, and did a great job. Plenty of attention to detail and a strong work ethic; he really knows what he's doing. I would use Jack O' Trades again in a heartbeat.

Overall entire job went quite well, it was a huge undertaking. We are happy with the results.

It did not go. Like I said over the phone he was trying to give me outragous estimates for the work I wanted done.

Room took 2 days as advised, looks fantastic.

The owner, Logan, was extremely professional and thoroughly explained how services would be provided, and gave an estimate for the services requested. The first General Contractor (for painting our home) came out and verified the work to be performed and confirmed the quote for painting services, reiterating what would be included in the price. The 3-man crew arrived promptly at 8:00 a.m. on the morning services were scheduled to begin and worked the entire day, letting us know that they would return the next morning at 8:00 a.m. to continue. This job was estimated to take three days. The crew finished the job in a day and a half! The job was done very well; only a few touch-ups required, which we did ourselves. (This was due to how the sun reflected off the house and the touch-ups could not be seen until the sun went down.) The second crew for installing the new aluminum soffit arrived promptly on the morning the work was to begin. They were very friendly, diligent, and professional. They ripped out the old screen from our existing soffit and installed the new aluminum soffit over the existing wood and finished the job in less than one day! Our house looks beautiful! I would definitely recommend this company - and already have! Any task you need done, Logan has the crew to help you out and for a reasonable price! Thanks to all who worked on our home! We will contact this company again for any future projects.

I interviewed several people for this job, but I selected Logan because he looked at my bathroom and made suggestions that no one else had. He seemed to me to be a problem solver and as I was reminded, once the demo begins, we're likely to find additional things to fix. Also, Logan's website introduced me to the Schluter Kerdi Waterproofing System which seemed like an excellent product for my shower. The reason why I was redoing this bathroom was because I had a leaking pipe to my shower head caused by a nail that pierced the pipe when my house was built 19 years ago. I definitely didn't want any more leaks in my shower. The work was accomplished in the projected time frame of about one month, and I slowed things down by ordering a new tub, so the plumbers had to be rescheduled. All of his subcontractors were courteous and professional, and punctual. Logan kept in touch frequently, either in person or by phone. He understood that I wanted to use a particular granite supplier and that I had already purchased a vanity, toilet and faucets. I selected tile from the supplier of his choice and once it was installed on the floor, I was concerned about it's matte apearance that looked smudged and cloudy from the installment process. With the strong light coming in from the window over the garden tub, all the smudges looked awful, and I was very disappointed in my choice of a non shiny finished floor tile. After washing the floor tiles with a solution of vinegar and water several times, the smudges and cloudiness were less apparent and I was much happier. My advice about selecting floor tile, is to always select tile with a shine to avoid this issue. I am really very pleased with my new master bathroom. It is lovely and a vast improvement over my old bathroom. Logan was very accomodating to my needs and concerns and did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend his company to anyone who needs to do remodeling work.

Jack o Trades went beyond my expectations.From the initial contact(with owner Logan), to the actual job; excellent customer service. I thought I had three small household jobs. Unfortunately, my guest room bathroom sink, had multiple issues. The handyman that came out was Brian, and he was professional, focused and honest. It is always a challenge to find a dependable, honest and professional contactor, this will be my go to company!

The level of service was exceptional. The local contractor, Paul, was great. He works very quickly, independently and clean. He did the entire demolition in one day and worked diligently every day to complete the job in a timely manner. He even laid down sheets for where he was walking to minimize the amount of dust and tile residue to pick up later. He cleaned up after himself and never left a mess in the home. Paul is very personable and easy to work with. He took the time to answer any of my questions and explain the process from the initial estimate to project completion. Paul's work is exceptional and all repairs are very well concealed. Great job and I will use again should I have the need.

Went great. Showed up on time. Price was reasonable. Did all the work exactly as described. Will use again in the future.

Paul came out on a Monday and priced the job. On Tuesday the entire job was completed. It rained throughout the entire day which kept Paul on the premises until after 8:00 p.m. completing the job. He did beautiful carpentry work and even blew off the yard afterwards. His attention to detail was impeccable and I would highly recommend him.

Kenny was great! Very professional and arrived on time (actually a few minutes early). Our list of projects included hanging a ceiling fan with light fixture, replacing all of the light fixtures in the house, tightening odds and ends throughout the house, plumbing work, etc. We have used this company before and are always very pleased with the results. They are dependable, professional and really back up their work with a solid warrenty. I highly recommend this company to all on Angie's List!

It went real well. I had to get an estimate for 3 areas of my house for drywall repair. Based on the price, I had them do 2 areas that very same visit. A nice guy named Paul came and performed the work. He was punctual and professional. Poor guy did lock keys in trailer attached to his truck, so i helped him get the lock removed. No worries. After lunch he finished all the work to my exact specifications. Including paint. Outstanding job. I would call again. In fact, I did. I needed an estimate on a bathroom remodel and they do that work too so I called them again.

I called twice and did get a call back on the second day. Was very helpful and informative. He was upfront about not being able to do an estimate for the work I wanted as he could not do parts of a bath remodel, but only a complete bathroom remodel. He was able to give me an idea of how much a whole bathroom remodel would cost by his company. All in all a very nice and upfront discussion, I just could not afford the cost of this type of remodel. He did spend over 20 minutes talking with me and giving me suggestions on what I could do to fit my budget, which I felt was very generous.

I picked this contractor because they team up with a designer for the cabinets and counters. I liked that we had a give and take of ideas. I had my ideas and they had theirs and we worked together. They were very creative and knowledgeable. I really felt like they worked with me. The contractor overseeing the work was a perfectionist, like we are. He made sure every detail was perfect and we really appreciated that! They were really fair and did an excellent job. I am very pleased with the kitchen and the process. The materials they used were very high quality. They were very honest and open about pricing throughout the process. I decided to order materials in October and they started work in December. The project finished up during the second week of January and given that it was the holidays, I felt it was a reasonable amount of time to have it done by.

I contacted Logan about the following jobs I wanted to get estimates on. 1.) Tile my kitchen/dining room floor 2.) Replace all crown, baseboard and door molding in kitchen, diningroom, living room and hallways. 3.) Texture all ceilings and walls in Kitchen, dining room, living room and hallways 4.) Propose an idea to do something on my kitchen ceiling as it is outdated and needs a makeover 5.) In my Den area, tile the floor, replace all moldings, texture walls and ceilings, replace lights and closet door 6.) Replace front door 7.) Back livingroom texture walls and ceilings and put rock on my back wall 8.) Install sliding door going from back livingroom to back screened in porch 9.) Enclose my existing screened in porch and turn into a sunroom I explained to Logan I wanted to get an estimate on each of my projects so that I could figure out which fit into my budget now, and what would be done at a later date. My plan being do half now and half end of the year. He told me that he would be better off doing everything at once as it would be to hard to price everything out separately. Of course it would be better for him, I have lot of money to be shelled out. I then told him if he didn't want to do that, just come give me an estimate on items 1-4 as I was ready to do atleast that right now. And what do you know, because I wouldn't do it all Logan decided he was to busy and my location didn't fit his agenda. This coming from a guy who had already done work at my home before. I simply told him "no problem, I remember you being cocky the last time". You were an a** the last time you did some work for me, and apparently you haven't grown up. For those reading this review, this is not a bitter customer. He didn't perform the work, no bitterness at all. There are plenty of guys looking for work so no worries there. Just know when dealing with this guy, be ready for his smug attitude. It's funny my location and his schedule wasn't a problem when I was getting an estimate on 1-9, but all of a sudden it is when I only want to shove 10-15K his way. I say p*** off ego guy.

Initial meeting went well, however, we never received our quote. Tried to call back a few times, but never received a call back. They must really not want any business if this is how they operate.

Kenny came on time and completed the work very quickly. To this day I have zero issues with the install. The owner Logan is always available for any questions that I may have and gives an honest answer if it is a job that he can't complete.

I received a prompt call back to schedule an appointment. They showed up on time for the estimate. I did not use this contractor because I decided not to use vinyl siding but I was very pleased with their professionalism and timeliness.

I left a message regarding the work that I wanted done. It took them a week and a half to call me back. We then played phone tag for a few days. When we finally spoke on the phone, we went through my project for about 10 minutes and then he found out where I lived and said he didn't service that area. I spent a wasted 2 weeks. This vendor should not pop up for the 33547 zip code.
