While I felt the company did a good job, I still feel as if I did not get great deal price-wise. I partly blame Angie's List for their Big Deal promotion of $99 for $200 worth of tree trimming services. What they don't tell you is that $200 of tree trimming services gets you practically nothing. The initial estimate I got from Independent was > $1000. We eventually agreed upon a reduced scope of work that brought the total to around $600. Perhaps I was naive to think I could get a bargain, but this is not the first time I have been misled by an Angie's List coupon or promotion. They are often too good to be true.

The advice given was excellent. I will absolutely use their services when I need them.

They arrived ontime. They worked professionally. Thay made sure we were happy and thay cleaned up before they left.

I'd purchased an Angie's List Big Deal a few months back. The deal was pay $99 for up to $200 of work. Last week I emailed the company, included the code from the Big Deal, included a pic of the tree and a description of what I needed, and my name / address / phone. The owner called that evening. After we spoke, he said they'd normally charge $300 to $350 for this job. I understand that there's time spent to get to and from a job, so I did expect that this would be factored in, along with the overhead of some serious equipment (truck with 'cherry picker' lift, wood chipper, other tools). We agreed that when they were going to have some other jobs in this area, he'd call and we set up the time. Yesterday they came out and did the work. Two workers were here with a truck (understatement ...serious equipment). They spent an hour on the job and did a great job on the tree trimming and clean-up. Top-notch. Looking at some other reviews, I think the price is in the higher part of normal pricing from an arborist, but reasonable. There's an expression I heard years ago: "Buy the best and cry once". I'm sure there are people or companies that would do the work for less money, but this IS quality work. We did have some miscommunications along the way, but Jerry (owner) is very eager to ensure that the customer is satisfied. I was extremely impressed with how responsive he was to my voice mail (I think I received a call back within 10 minutes!). To ensure that I was satisfied with the experience (and as I stated, the work is absolutely top-notch), Jerry insisted that I not pay more than the Angie's List Big Deal price, and is sending me back my check for the additional charges for the job. That was not my intention; they did a great job and we'd discussed what the price range would be before they came out. As someone else mentioned on this board, the sign of a good company is how they respond when a customer raises an issue. I feel guilty accepting the refund, but Jerry absolutely insisted.

Arrived on time, worked all day, finished on time and left the work area perfectly clean.

They were on time and did the work was outstanding and very professional.

The total experience was excellent. One of the managers, Jordan UpCavage, came out to our home at our convenience in the evening. He provided us with a thorough evaluation of our needs. He explained the permitting process for Tampa in trimming a "grand oak". He then provided with an estimate which we found very reasonable. Independent Tree then filed the permit and followed it closely until it was granted while apprising us of the progress. Yesterday, the crew arrived and promptly began work. They were both professional and polite. They provided my wife with some very helpful information about our trees and our house. They completed the work to our complete satisfaction. This the third time in as many years we have used Independent Tree, and we have always been pleased with their quality service.

The response time was excellent. Jordan and his team were extremely proficient in their jobs. They answered all my questions and cleaned all debris before leaving. I have used Independent Tree Service in the past and will continue to call on them and recommend them in the future.

The crew came in and removed some limbs and alot of dead brances. I was not there when they did the work, and had I not known there were there, I never would have known until I looked at the trees. They left nothing behind and didn't damage a single plant that surrounded both oak trees. Who would have thought that having trees trimmed could be so painless? If I had known, it would have been done a lot sooner. Sooooo painless!

They did a great job. I would definitely use them again. The tree looks happy & healthy!

I was so impressed at how quickly the service was tended to. Jerry and his crew were very professional, punctual and pleasant. Quality work was performed and I would certainly use them again!!

Jerry responded quickly to the message I left asking for an estimate. I arranged a time for him to come out and look at the work to be done. He arrived when he said he would and we discussed what I wanted done. He told me that the tree cutting work would only take a few hours so he gave me a choice of a full or half day of work. He said they could spend all day picking Spanish Moss and Mistletoe out of the trees OR I could pay for a half day and they would take out as much as they could in the allotted time. I chose to just do half a day, but I appreciated him giving me the option to save money. On the scheduled day, the crew arrived a little late, but immediately got to work with a crew of three people. Two of them worked on the smaller Laurel Oak, while the other cut limbs and removed Spanish Moss from the Live Oak using a Cherry Picker. He then later used the Cherry Picker on the Laurel Oak to remove Mistletoe out of the higher branches. Although Jerry wasn't there (which I had expected), the head worker had spoken with him about what was to be done before he began. In addition, the head worker and I discussed again what was to be done and I felt confident that he understood what I wanted and would not make any important decisions without consulting me. I was particularly pleased with the work done on the Laurel Oak. The tree itself was not really big or hard to work on, but the base of the tree was surrounded by vegetation. I generally refer to this area as "the jungle" and was concerned that it would be seriously trampled from the work they were doing. However, the workers took great care to tread carefully on the plants and when they were done there was little evidence that anyone had been there at all. Overall, I was very pleased with the quality of the work. They did what I expected them to at the agreed upon price.

It was a very good experience. The owner came out and gave us an estimate first. We called them for just the palms originally. We walked around the yard and he pointed out some other things that we needed to take care of. We set up an appointment and they came and did it and they went off without a problem. I think that they are honest and definitely knowledgeable about what they do and I would definitely use them again.

Jerry always keep us informated when they will perform the service, it was hectic during the Holidays so the work was completed after the 1st of the year. They did a wonderful job, cleaned our yard and took away the waste.

They did remove a lot of dead branches and cleaned up the yard afterward. They didn't spend the whole day, as I was told they would try to get as much done as possible in one day, probably because of the up coming Christmas holiday. They started late and ended early. With so many trees it's hard to see if more could have been trimmed.

I purchased a special deal ($111 for $200 of services) and wanted to have several large trees at the rear of my property trimmed. Jerry Upcavage, the owner of Independent Tree Service, impressed me with his knowledge and his professional approach when he came out to give me an estimate for the work. It turned out that $200 worth of tree trimming does not go very far and I decided to opt for a larger job. The two men who came three days later to do the work were very good. At the end of the job, they cleaned up all the tree trimmings and debris and asked me to inspect the work. My back yard looks great with the trees trimmed and "lifted". Well worth the cost!

The work was performed at a rental house. An estimate was given, very resonable, and the work was performed at a later date. All work was compleeted on time in a very neat manner. It was done in difficult circumstances since the area was small and the tree very large. The worker was very courteous.

Great work - they removed the tree without leaving anything behind. I like the fact that they always clean up nicely! The trimming was professionally done and I can only recommend this company whole-heartedly. I will hire them again!

The men were supposed to arrive by 9:00 AM but Jerry called & said they had an emergency & would be there by 11:00 AM. They arrived at 1:00 PM. I went over to say hello & they didn't talk at all. They did a good job with the trees, however.

The work that Jerry's crew did was excellent... they even cleaned the leaves and camphor berries off the walk way around the tree when they were done.

The job went smothly form start to finish. Great crew!

Jerry came to inspect our trees and gave us a detailed estimate on 12/11/12. Matt and another man came on 12/17/12 and did the work. Very nice men and hauled and removed all dead limbs from the yard.

They were on time and professional. We went over scope of work and they performed as promised. Cleaned up afterwards.
