The arrived on time and were very thorough and careful. Jerry stops by during the job to be sure all of the work is being done properly.

The crew, including Jason, arrived on the agreed upon date and set to work. I was surprised by the amount of time and attention required to open up trenches on both sides of the driveway to expose the roots and irrigation system. I was totally shocked by the size of the roots underneath the driveway with some roots over 12 inches in diameter. (No wonder the driveway was lifted!) It took another day to chainsaw through these roots removing large sections to prevent regrowth. The irrigation system sustained a few nicks in the pruning process but the leaks were immediately repaired by the crew. After the pruning, the trenches were back filled and the work area was returned to its original state. I was concerned that root pruing would damage the health of the trees and I delayed writing this review until I knew the impact to the oaks. I'm happy to report both trees dropped their leaves and rebloomed normally. Both trees are healthy and shapely after the rebalancing and deadwood removal. In summary, I was extemely pleased by the professionalism of Independent Tree, their work ethic and the outcome of this job.

Requested an estimate and will rx in a few days and will update this blog... Last year the guys did great. We had a scheduling SNAFU and Jerry gave me a discount for our troubles.

We had been using Independent Tree Service since 2008 and have always been impressed with their work. Since Jerry was out of town for our estimate, Jordan his son came to the house and reviewed what would be done. The only thing that was different this time was a bucket truck was going to be used. Unfortunately, the days before the trimming it had rained at our house for three days. The morning of their arrival I talked with Jerry concerning the bucket truck sinking in the yard and he assured me that it would be fine. Jordan, who normally arrives with the crew, was kind of enough to call beforehand and told us that he would be late since he had to start another job. He also told us that they would not be using the bucket truck until he arrived. The guys arrived and began their work. It is nice that their crew has been with them for years so they really know what they are doing. Sure enough when Jordan arrived the bucket truck came into the yard (on top of plywood). Our nervousness was quickly diminished and the work continued beautifully. Even after the truck was removed you would have barely known it was in the yard. The guys worked continuously with trimming and cleaning - not even taking time for lunch. The work they did was beautiful. The next day Jerry called to check to see if everything was to our liking. As long as we are in our house and have tree we will use Independent Tree Service.

They did a great job. No problems/No complaints.

Fantasatic service! They came out around our schedule to do the intial estimate, and we did not need to be home to do the actual work. The checked in with us prior to coming out to do the work as well.

want to.within 1 week there was dead fronds hanging that they didn't remove. They were the experts? Even with Angies Big Deal...I paid way too much for this service. They cleaned up some but I had to pick up pieces of frond.

We called for an estimate for the work and set a date/time for an appointment. The representative from Independent arrived on time. The representative gave valuable advice on the project and since he was a certified arborist he advised us on how best to trim/prune the large oak in our backyard. He further noted how a previous tree service may have done damage to the tree by incorrectly pruning the tree. The tree removal was scheduled at a later date since we were waiting on the permit for removal. Once the permit was received, we were contacted and a date for the work was set. The crew from Independent arrived on time and began the work. The crew supervisor was clear on what they were doing and what I should expect. Throughout the day, the crew was professional and once completed they cleaned the area up very well. They took measure during the day to protect all structures and items in the area from debris and falling limbs. The following day the stump grinder arrived to finish the project (subcontracted by Independent). These guys are professionals. There are a lot of tree services in the Tampa area. When you have a tree you are concerned about or a project that requires professionals, this is the service to hire. They were a slight bit higher on their estimate than others, but we wanted a service for this job we could trust.

The tree was trimmed while I was at work. All debris was cleaned up. I was pleased with the work and would use them again.

He showed up on time, he did the work and we were very satisfied.

From the beginning conversations with Mr. Upcavage, the president, were profession, but friendly.He was punctual for the appointment and knowledgeably answered all my questions and he let me know ahead of time the schedule change due to rain and quickly returned any calls that I made. His lead technician, Mike, who did the trimming was an artist.He discuss the plan with Mr. Upcavage and thoughtfully and efficiently removed several problem limbs with saw and ropes.I noticed how Mike continuously moved his boom-lift in and out of the tree,checking on balance of what he was doing and safety of those on the ground. When he was finished the tree looked beautiful, healthy and strong. I was a little concerned about the amount of the estimate, however, seeing the amount of work it took to make the tree safe and enhance the value of the property,I feel that the estimate was justified.

OVERALL - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND INDEPENDENT TREE SERVICES TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS TREES REMOVED FROM A PROPERTY. While they were the most expensive quote we got out of our bid, THE VALUE THAT THE PROVIDE AS WELL AS THEIR SERVICE was superior to anyone else I have used in the past.

Independent Tree Service may not be the cheapest tree service company in the area but they have the knowledge, equipment, and manpower to do the job right. They are also licensed arborists and were willing and able to obtain the tree removal permit which was an added bonus and not something all companies are willing to do. They spent a full day on the property to perform the tree removal and the other services described above. They removed all debris promptly and overall I am very satisfied with their work.

They did an excellent job. Would use them again.

Terry came out right away to give me an estimate. He acquired a permit for me immediately. He returned my calls right away when I had a question. His crew did a great removal and clean up job. An excellent - plus company.

This was an all day effort by a supplemented crew due to the amount of work. Jerry and Jordan had detailed the work in their proposals and the well-trained crew was familiar with our property from earlier jobs. Everything was done as agreed and to our full satisfaction. It looks great. With 4 live oaks and two mature laurels plus a pine and several smaller trees, our trees require a certified arborist and a superbly trained crew to adhere to safe working practice as well as preserve the trees. It calls for a firm with the equipment, skills, training and expertise to do everything exactly the way it should be done. Independent Tree Service is our exclusive provider and has always performed to perfection. Thank you Jerry, Jordan and the entire team. We'll see you in about 2 years!

This company provides outstanding service. Have used Jerry and his team for several years and just this time met him. He provides a very fair estimate for the work provided and time required to do the work. He then schedules with the crew and lets me know when they will do the work - about a week later.I watched the team do the work and they are a great bunch of guys, good to the dog, work steadily, do amazing clean-up. A smaller crew comes to pick up the palm debris at the end of the day - also great and they do what they say they are going to do. A follow up call by Jerry to check to see if I am satisfied. Could not ask for more.

I had purchaed the Big deal knowing I wanted some of our heavily wooded property lifted up in the near future.Called Independent and they came out within a day. Jordan came and looked over the property and assessed what needed to be done. One of the very last trees we looked at; Jordan determined was diseased and should come down. It was leaning over our fence mostly hanging over my neighbors yard. We decided to go ahead with the total job including the tree removal. The work had to be rescheduled as the original work date turned out to be under Tornado Watch. Upon rescheduling; the work concluded and the workers were very careful with our property as they had heavy equipment to move across our lawn. I was not home at the time, so when I returned; you couldn't even tell they had been there ---- as far as the lawn. The cleanuup was very nice. The work was very good and we are very happy with the clean look of the trees now. Jordan and his team were excellent.

Jordon was on time for the estimate and he arrived on schedule. Work was neat and the crew was very professional. I would highly recommend this company.

While I felt the company did a good job, I still feel as if I did not get great deal price-wise. I partly blame Angie's List for their Big Deal promotion of $99 for $200 worth of tree trimming services. What they don't tell you is that $200 of tree trimming services gets you practically nothing. The initial estimate I got from Independent was > $1000. We eventually agreed upon a reduced scope of work that brought the total to around $600. Perhaps I was naive to think I could get a bargain, but this is not the first time I have been misled by an Angie's List coupon or promotion. They are often too good to be true.
