I have hired Hawkins company to fix my electrical needs and they came diagnosed and gave me an expensive quote. I paid still to get the job done and was told it’s done and left. I checked to see if problem resolved and to my shock the problem was not fixed. I called company unhappy but wouldn’t listen to my concerns. They sent couple of people afterwards and they have no clue either how to fix it and left without doing anything. so far they have not sent anyone else to fix the issue in spite of paying high amount for the job. The customer service is horrible and they don’t care or respond. Employees have no knowledge. They don’t take any responsibility or accountability. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Stay away if u can

My new A/C system was installed four months ago. Since installation this company's technicians have been out to my home six times. The first time within two days of installation because water was pouring out of the air handler. On three occasions it was to replace a "temporary" thermostat with another "temporary" thermostat. Another visit was to replace the last "temporary" thermostat with the permanent thermostat. On two occasions it was to address the issue of the air handler fan starting up and running at full power for no apparent reason. The first attempt at fixing this was to replace the air handler fan motor. The air handler problem still needs to be fixed. On the technician's last visit, he decided that the permanent thermostat needed replacing. I have been waiting for that replacement thermostat for over a month. Not once has the technician checked a voltage, measured an amperage or checked a connection.

I've had Hawkins Service out twice to fix issues with my pool equipment. Both times, very knowledgeable technicians arrived to resolve the problems quickly, and in both cases the work was covered by warranty and no payment was required. The only downsize is that it can take up to 2 weeks to get an appointment, however in my mind it's well worth the wait to have knowledgeable professionals perform the work.
Description of Work: The first call involved repairing an air leak that caused the pump to lose suction. The second call was to replace a non-working chlorine generating cell, which can be very expensive. In both cases, Hawkins Service handled the warranty paperwork with the equipment manufacturer, and no payment was required of me.

Get a SECOND OPINION before having this company do any work. The quote I received from Hawkins to replace a AC condenser motor and electrical disconnect breaker was $1,000 more than my second opinion company. They lost a good and faithful customer to greed.

Do not recommend at all. We had a pool and hot tub installed by Sekas Custom Pools. Two months later the hot tub stopped worked, the day we had people over ! Frustrating as this time of the year in Florida when its a bit chilly is when we would like to get most use of the hot tub. So we called Sekas Pool who opened a work order with Hawkins (on 21 Nov) and gave us a phone number to follow up. We called Hawkins the next day and were told they have a backlog and it wont be until 1-3 Dec when someone can come out to repair. So, we arranged for people to come over on 4th Dec. I then call Hawins on 1st Dec to check when someone would be coming out, i was advised that now it was likely to be the week after. I explained the situation that i had been advised previously 1-3 Dec and had arranged a party on the 4th Dec. I was told that they would check with scheduling and call me right back. I never got a call back so i called Friday morning (today 3 dec), and spoke to Janette, she looked up my details and told me that a work order had not even been created!! Apparently they entered my home address in wrong ! I don't understand why that was not picked up the previous two times i called, anyway she advised me there was no way they were going to send someone out today. So, another week without the hot tub and having to cancel the party now. Hawkings has not been professional in dealing with me, they didn't call back when they said they would and they didn't meet their timeframes for fixing the issue. If you have a choice i would avoid them.

These guys are top notch. They came out to hook up all of our new pool equipment and did a phenomenal, clean, professional job. I am not an electrician by any means, but I know when something is done right and this is quality work by far. The task to be performed was a little challenging as they had to do more work than it was anticipated; however, this was no issue for them as they completed the job ahead of time. From the moment they arrived, they were very courteous, answered all of our questions and took the time to explain the scope of work. Job well done Jason & Crew! We will definitely hire Hawkins Service Company again. If you want electrical work done right, these are the people to call!!

I have absolutely nothing good to say about this company and would strongly recommend you look elsewhere! This was the subcontractor hired by the pool builder to complete the electrical work. Never have I come across a group of individuals who have and put ZERO pride in their work. I had to have them redo piping because it was so SLOPPY. Light transformer was installed in wrong location and they claimed, they could not fix mistake. They drilled multiple holes in my exterior walls because they could not get a box panel hung correctly. This is a new pool install and just had the pool equipment delivered and installed the previous day and they were using it, as if it was their own personal work bench. The top of ac unit and new heater housing is all scratched and dented from them dropping their tools from frustration because they are that bad at their job...have it all on video. If the body starts to rust from the scratches, I will be following up with them and take necessary actions. I have camera surveillance and they could have cared less with them sitting and STEPPING on top of the pool pumps and rest of equipment. I had to clean up after them from the mess they left behind. I will be voicing my issue with the owner of the pool builder...hopefully they will stop using this horrible company.

As a new pool home owner, I don't know the first thing about pool equipment or what is needed. I discovered earlier this week the pump was still running but virtually no water was moving at all. My first surprise with this company was that they had an online chat option after hours. They took my information and the next morning I received a voice mail from Mr. Hawkins. Essentially, he described what the problem was and how to fix it myself. We just did what he said and it works again! Even though I didn't actually purchase their service, I would recommend to others for honest, ethical help. I had already priced a pump replacement at $500-$600, but I thought I would try Mr. Hawkin's suggestion first. Next time, guess who I'm going to call first?

Outstanding work; Thank you Hawkins Service Co. (HSC) – Adam, Service Tech. My family switched our air conditioning service/maintenance contract to HSC, because of the excellent customer service we received from the office staff and repair staff. During a previous service call to install a new pool heater, Ricardo and Adam were professional and had good work ethic and we asked about other services from HSC offers. Adam explained the air conditioner service plan and also looked at our AC, explaining how the preventive maintenance worked. During Adam’s presentation we were interested in the air conditioner services plan he explained that if there are any unforeseen problems there would be benefits of having a service plan with HSC. So when our AC went out, I asked the Service Manager, Jason, if they could come that day, and HSC assured me they would have a tech at our home between 6-8PM. After the service call by Adam we felt we could trust Adam’s advice and his reliability. We are extremely happy after that long “HOT!!!” day of no AC. Adam persisted trying to unblock our drain line system. He explained what happened (snake in the outside drain line). Adam is not a “fixed” and run tech; he stayed a few extra minutes to ensure the drain was cleared and then Adam left the area SPOTLESS and took the time to answer our questions. VERY IMPRESSIVE! When he left he expressed his pride with HSC by saying ‘Thank you for choosing Hawkins Service Company’. We highly recommend Hawkins Service Company.

Worst company of kind I have ever worked with! I had a new pool being installed and Hawkins is the electrical company contracted by the pool builder to do the electrical work. They called me on a Wednesday to let me know they would be out the next day to do the electrical work and would need access to the main panel. I informed that nobody would be home (out of state the entire week), but the main panel is on the outside of the house so it would be accessible. I also informed the woman who called that they needed to use the crawl space to run the feed and told her where the crawl space access was. Late the next day I checked my security cameras via my phone, as I did regularly when out of town. That’s when I noticed three of my cameras were offline, all connected through my detached garage. I had an outside receptacle that was too close to the new pool, so as part of code it was removed from the electrical box, which I was fine with. However, the electrician didn’t bother to reconnect the feed from that box that fed power to my garage. I think it’s pretty obvious if you have an electrical box with two feeds, one has power coming in and the other goes to something else. Once Hawkins was notified of their mistake, it took them two days to do a less than five-minute job of correcting their mistake, which means I had three security cameras offline for three days. I also noticed on my security cameras that they didn’t use the crawl space as informed, but instead dug up my front yard to run conduit from one side of the house to the other. All pool construction access was from the back alley, so the front yard was untouched to that point. When I called to ask why they didn’t use the crawl space I was connected to Adrian, who I think is one of the managers. He was very defensive, and never gave a good answer. When I told Adrian I didn’t want electrical conduit through my yard, but instead through the crawl space, like ever other feed on my house, and was obvious to the electricians, he said he could do it but I would have to pay for it. Me pay to correct work they were informed how to do initially and they did wrong??? I then contacted my pool builder about this issue, and they did what good and reputable companies do, and that was pay to have the feed moved to the crawl space, which they did, and wasn’t an issue for Hawkins and could have been done the first time. As part of pool building code, a convivence receptacle is required not less than six feet and no more than 20 feet from the edge of the pool. Since Hawkins removed the already existing receptacle that was too close, they installed a new one, but never tried to contact me and see where I might want it for my convenience, in my yard by my pool. Instead they installed one that was as absolutely as close to the subpanel as possible, but was basically unusable as it was in a far corner that had no deck space or other usable space near it to make it “convenient” for anything. So I had another, up to code receptacle installed by the open part of my new deck on the opposite end of the pool. When Hawkins came back to re-run the electrical feed through the crawl space, I asked them about removing the receptacle they installed, and initially one of the technicians said they would, but when they were about to leave it was still there. I asked them why and they said they spoke to Adrian and he said that since it was up to code when installed that it will stay. I told them I was the customer and it wasn’t their decision on where it should have been installed initially, and that I already had another one installed at my expense and up to code, and didn’t need theirs now. They said they didn’t care and that it would stay, and they left. The entire time they were at my house they were very defensive and argumentative. After the technicians left, I called their office and asked to speak to the owner, Eric Haeck. I was told he was not in the office and was transferred to his voicemail, at which point I left a message with a brief overview and asked him to call me back. Upon completing the voicemail, I got a call back from the receptionist, which thought I got disconnected, at which point she took a message for Eric call me back. I never got a call back from Eric, or anybody, nor has anybody from Hawkins even once apologized for destroying my front yard. Which left big holes on both sides of the sidewalk near the front porch, and were still there when they came back over a moth later to re-run the feed, and I watched as one of the technicians pointed them out to another technician and laughed about it, and they still did nothing about them. Bottom line, this company doesn’t care the slightest about the customer, only how to get the job done the easiest way for them, and their exact words when I spoke to them about running the new feed was they were going to do it “most convenient for us”. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!!

We contacted Hawkins to install a gas range. Tom (I was told he was a manager) called a few days later. He left a message with pricing, told me that my email address was "too long to mess with" & sounded disgusted that I only left 1 contact #. I called back & he informed me that it was after 5:00 pm (it was 5:10) & he was off & didn't usually answer his phone after that time. I told him I'd call back. The next phone call he told me to text him my address (I had already provided) & he'd get back with me to set up a time to do the installation. I have never heard from him. He was irritable and lacks customer service skills. I was able to get Gas Masters for do the installation within 2 days of calling them. Their pricing was $90 less and they were in and out in under 20 minutes.

Hawkins did an amazing job. I couldn't believe how efficient they were. Everything was done beyond my specifications and expectations. The level of professionalism and knowledge was refreshing. We have a hayward pro 1100 pool heater. We barely use it but the fan broke most probably by lack of use and corrosion. This is also a disappointment as it is a top brand and promise no corrosion... The technician has come to our house and after their review he said theydid not recommend to fix and suggested us to replace by a new unit. The man provided 2 quotes. As I was not home I decided to call and get the details - the manager that answered my call was categoric that the fix would be almost the cost of a new system as many parts were damaged and broken. I thought they were an specialist and told him that I could not do it now due to the cost but I would do when possible. He said to me that I had to pay for the service call 105 USD. I believe to charge is fine but I would charge if I know something and have expertise. So I decided to call other company, they came - the look and told me they could fix and the cost would be with parts 500 USD. I decided to do and have my pool heated and working very well. My conclusion is the following: 1)Hawkins know nothing... don't trust them. I felt ripped off and do not think 105 was worth of nothing. 2)I will always get 2-3 opinions going forward - 3)Dont trust completely the recommendations of the manufacture as they may consider sales as their point representation and not service quality.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], We appreciate the feedback and will use it to improve the quality of our service. However we will disagree with the results given to you by the other company. Our factory trained technician went through proper protocol and found there was a missing fan blade and shaft for motor for the heat pump. The fan blade breaking off caused the capillaries to bend in two places and water was introduced into the refrigerant system. Fixing the fan blade and shaft motor are only temporary fixes for a much larger issue that will be recurring the more you use your heat pump. The breach in the refrigerant system is what deemed the unit unrepairable to our technician which is why we provided you with the options you were unsatisfied with. We have been in business since 1992 and have never made a living by ripping our customers off. The majority of our business is repeat and referrals by current customers and we have flourished by taking care of our customers and doing what is right. We hope that you find the fix you are looking for and if we can be of assistance moving forward please do not hesitate to call.

Without exaggeration, the most honest and helpful company I have ever interacted with. On two occasions (both related to pool equipment), the company could have dispatched someone to examine my concerns. The result would have been two service calls bills for problems I could have fixed myself. Joe Fabel (of Hawkins Service Company) knew this and instead, carefully talked me through the issues I was experiencing and resolved both issues over the phone! In the most recent case, he contacted the lead Heyward rep himself when he knew the Heyward information I received was inaccurate. He included me on his e-mail exchanges so that I could keep a record for my warranty purposes. Who goes through all this time and trouble to help out a customer? Who works hard to ensure service calls are conducted only when needed? Who cares more about doing right than profit? Apparently Joe does. And that is why I will never call anyone else when I have an electrical or pool equipment question. Well done to Joe and the staff at Hawkins Service Company.

My pool electrical subpanel needed to be upgraded to provide 240v power to a new pool pump. Hawkins scheduled a no-cost estimate/evaluation within a time period of my choice. The Hawkins tech arrived on time and gave me a cost estimate for a complete “pool panel package.” When I hesitated at the cost he called his office and was able to knock 15% off the cost. I told him to proceed and he immediately started the project. He left to get supplies and a helper. He returned within an hour and completed the work in less than 3 hours. They replaced my entire outdoor circuit from the main panel in my garage to my pool equipment site. They installed a new main panel breaker (and rearranged other breakers to a more logical order), installed conduit from my main panel, through my attic, out the side of my house and down to the new panel site. They ran commercial grade wires, removed my old subpanel, timer box and light transformer and replaced them all with one integrated pool panel. They provided efficient and timely response, an accurate estimate, and quality work as promised. When complete the job appeared to be well done and looked highly professional. My pool panel electrical subsystem now provides the power I need while meeting code requirements. My only complaint is they did not re-install a GFCI breaker for my outdoor kitchen, which runs from my pool subpanel. The tech said he could not re-install my old GFCI breaker because it was not compatible with the new panel (would not fit). He didn’t install a new compatible GFCI breaker because he didn’t have one on the truck. When asked if using a non-GFCI breaker met code he admitted it did not, but then he explained what I could do to bring it up to code. So I bought a GFCI breaker from Home Depot and installed it myself. Install was quick and easy (about 5 minutes) but it cost me about $40. After doing such a great job, I found it somewhat disappointing Hawkins left me with that issue to solve. I suspect if I had pressed him he would have come back later to install the GFCI. In his defense, that detail had not been specifically discussed before I agreed to the work, so he may not have felt obligated to re-install a GFCI. Bottom-line, I was happy with the response and overall professionalism of Hawkins and would use them again for electrical work. But I will be very specific about what I expect as a finished project.

Never showed up. Contacted HSC as a referral from Leslie's and Pinch a Penny. I have electric current in my pool and needed to have it repaired before someone got hurt. They scheduled to come last Friday afternoon, no time given, I was good with that. They were going to call my cell phone when they were on their way, which as good. At 4:40 PM I called their office to see if they knew when they would arrive. The office person put me on hold to contact the technician to see when they would be there. They were unable to reach them and were going to call me back when they got a hold of them. I called back at 5:20PM and their answering service answered, they took my address and informatio and said if I didn't get a call in 20 minutes to call them back. I called them again at 610 PM, answering service looked at my previous call and said they would directly contact the technician. I waited at my home till 7 PM, no calls. No calls over the weekend at all. Called the office at 12:30PM Monday, they told me they rescheduled me for tomorrow morning, no phone call on this either. I was told that the technician did try to call Friday and I did not call back? Not sure where that came from but you can see I made every attempt to contact them. I gave them half my day.

As a sub for Riviera, they were contracted to install the panels and are the warranty center for all the Pentair equipment. They did an ok job on the installation of the panels(other than not owning a level) and circuitry associated with the pool. Unfortunately, they are not trained on the Pentair equipment they service. They reversed lines from the acid tank, which then filled the tank with pool water, then overflowed acid water all over the side of my house. They replace boards and equipment without the same firmware versions, so when they leave, the system doesn't work properly because of incompatible versions. Pentair (which has amazing support) has now making their 2nd trip within 6 months to try and figure out what they did. Right now, the heater and Intellichem are both not working and I have a pump tripping breakers. This just scratches the surface, they have wasted days if my time with wasted trips. They are absolutely useless on the Pentair products. 6/27/14 UPDATE Just wanted to update my review based on a call I had with Hawkins and their response to my review. I do appreciate you reaching out and attempting to fix rectify the situation. On the firmware. In July or August of last year, you guys replaced the Easy Touch board because the original board went bad. You replaced it with a board that was on the truck and it was a lower rev level than required to work with the Intellichem. While Pentair was here, they updated the firmware and got it all working. Most recently when you were here to replace the breaker, the tech left wanting to replace the Easy Touch board (again) and a motor control board because the motor was running when the Easy Touch was off. All they had to do is go into the schedule to see that it was setup for the in-floor cleaning system to run, which bypasses the heater(s), and leaves the Intellichem and Intellichlor off. There was nothing wrong with the system and this would have been a waste of both of our time and Pentairs' money. I do agree that I was not fair to you on the professionalism portion of the review and I have adjusted it, because even with all of the issues you guys came across here, you did try to fix the problem and were professional. Also, I feel that if I had a basic pool with limited features, you guys would be just fine. Again, I do thank you for trying, but it has been a constant struggle for a year now.

Response from Hawkins Service Co.
To respond to Mr. [member name removed] complaint, our technicians at Hawkins Service Company are highly trained in the Pentair products and repair of such equipment. We are required to attend classes that Pentair has each year that are designed to inform us of new and existing products and any repairs problem that we may experience in the field. We have been a premier Pentair warranty station for nearly 20 years and highly regarded in our industry as a reliable and honest company to deal with. I took the time to contact my Pentair representative and the manufacturers head of pool automation about the comment regarding us installing firmware versions which were incompatible for his pool automation system. Both stated that firmware incompatibility has not been an issue and to their knowledge it has never been an issue at this customer's system. The Pentair supplied serial adapter that allows the home owners home automation system to communicate with his pool automation has been swapped twice due to failures or inconsistencies pointed out by the customer. But again, no mention of incompatibility has ever been mentioned to us by the customer or the manufacturer Pentair. I have had several conversations with the customer regarding his Intellichem system in which we have replaced two sensor probes that had failed as well as the actual chem pump for the system and eventually we swapped out the entire system for the builder. Each time the parts were supplied by the manufacturer for these are not normal stocked items so there was a delay on the repair each time due to waiting on parts to arrive. The customer indeed has experienced a breaker tripping on his pump, however each time we have been out the pump is working and there are no normal signs of pump failure. We changed out the GFCI breaker on these occasions in case it is an intermittent problem in which happens when a technician is not there. A GFCI breaker monitors the amount of current flowing from hot to neutral. If there is any imbalance, it trips the circuit. It is able to sense a mismatch as small as 4 or 5 milliamps, and it can react as quickly as one-thirtieth of a second causing the breaker to trip. This is a safety feature added to swimming pool pumps recently that is now mandated by code requirements. Unfortunately, it is common for these breakers to trip due to power outages or surges which are quite frequent due to Florida's weather patterns. We are willing to provide our professional service to Mr. Bull for any and all of his issues with the equipment, but he has chosen to deal with Pentair direct. The times we have been at his home, he was pleasant on the phone with us and forthcoming with the issues at hand and we have addressed the issues each time we have been on his property. It is only later we find out he has contacted Pentair or the builder and stated he was not happy with our service. We at Hawkins Service Company pride ourselves on our knowledge of products but more so on our customer service. We did reach out to the customer and offered for us to come out with the manufacturer to hopefully instill confidence to him that we indeed are factory trained and qualified and who better to show that with would be the manufacturer, but he declined.

They are great. They are very good. We have been very pleased with them. The guy was very knowledgeable, they worked with us, they were great. Everything they did was just fantastic. We are very happy with them. They do what they say they are going to do, they are very timely in their reaction time, and they seemed to really know their business. I am very impressed. We have had some other people that we have talked to, and tried to do business with but they were no where as good as they have been. They were right on point with the estimate. They are very good, we have used them again.
Description of Work: I used Hawkins Service Co. They put in a new heater for us in our swimming pool.
