They do a good job. They come out and get done what needs to be done. They don't try and sell you things you don't need. I will definitely use them again.

I pay $159 for the maintenance contract yearly and shouldn't have been having these problems this often.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my air handler and the fan motor needed replaced. I've lived here 23 years and have always had an maintenance contract. I've had 4 new a/c and 3 air handlers replaced during that time which is not acceptable. Last year, they replaced the coils in the air handler in the outside air conditioner unit. I wrote a letter to Trane that I was unsatisfied. Trane said they are not responsible for their service providers. Therefore saying it was more due to the work of the service provider.

We had them out twice and the house is just about 2 years old and when the house was a year old the air conditioning broke down and I think it was the compressor that blew. It was under warranty so they replaced it but they charged us. It was a couple hundred dollars charge and when I asked because it was under warranty they said it was for parts and we had to pay a couple of hundreds for labor which I think really was not right. The thing was only a year old. So that’s why I would give them a B and not an A. Otherwise they did a fine job. The second time we called them because the pan was filled up with water and it was after hours and the technician called me back and he told me what to do, he told me to suck out the line but I didn’t know how to do that. So ultimately they said the guy can’t come out here for two weeks. So I said alright, we were going out of town anyway and I would worry about it when I came back. When I got back we called them and they came out the next day and thy fixed it and it was a reasonable charge.
Description of Work: They cleared the drain line, checked the blower motor, checked the pressure and checked the coil.

Mike arrived right on time to the minute. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He offered to repair my thermostat instead of replacing it. When I asked him to check my vent system as I was told it needed repair, he said it was in excellent condition and didn't need to be replaced. I was prepared to replace the whole unit including the vents and was happily surprised to have my unit working like new for $334. I purchased the maintenance agree for $159 and am thrilled to death. I love my digital thermostat!

Their technician, Fitz (we now refer to him as and quot;Fabulous Fitzand quot;) was at our house within an hour. He promptly found the problem and advised that whomever serviced the unit previously, bent a part which would only permit the fan to work ...blowing hot air...and wouldn't trigger the outside unit to go on. He quickly fixed the problem and even gave us a tip about our air conditioner. Needless to say....we are not renewing our long standing contract with that other company and we only want to deal with Gulf Coast Air from now on!!!!!! If we could give an A++++++++ review...we would! Thank you so much for coming to our rescue, Gulf Coast....and especially, thank you for having Fitz as an employee! Just wonderful!!!!!!
Description of Work: We were long time (almost 24 years) customers of another air conditioning company. When our air conditioner broke down on a Friday night, we needed immediate service. When we called our regular air conditioning company, we were told that no one was available for an emergency visit. Naturally, we were quite upset. Found Gulf Coast Air on Angie's List and...boy...are we glad we did!!!! WONDERFUL SERVICE!!!!

Gulf Coast Air services our main home in Riverview for the past 6 years. When our rental home in Bradenton needed a 2nd opinion on the A/C service, I asked Gulf Coast A/C to send Fitz (our favorite workman) to give us a 2nd opinion on A/C service. They told us the other A/C company was trying to get us to spend money we didn't need to on a new A/C unit. I have trusted Gulf Coast Air for the past 6 years at our main home, and will continue to do so with our rental home.

After they cleaned it a black tarry stuff started spewing on down my wall. It would stick to my furniture and everything. They did come back as soon as I called them and cleaned everything again and cleaned instead of from the vent back to the unit they cleaned from the unit back to the vent. I think it is taken care of, but apparently there was stuff in there and when I switched from heat to A/C it got damp, but they came back and fixed it right away. They got enough people to get it in and out so we were not without heat or A/C for a very long time. When I had a problem they came out the next day.

The technicians are friendly and professional. They get right to work and do not waste time. They clean the condenser (outside unit) and fully inspect both the condenser and air-handler. Other than the small leak we have not had any major issues with the either unit. The person who schedules in service department has been the same for the last 14 years and the technicians are the same from year to year, for the most part. They even can schedule for weekends without an extra charge. We highly recommend them to everyone we know and will continue to use their services and products as long as we are in Florida.
Description of Work: We have used Gulf Coast Air Systems since we moved into this house in June 2003. They installed the air handler (inside unit) and the condenser (outside unit). We chose them for our home because they had serviced the house we rented for six years previously and we were always very satisfied with every aspect (professionalism, punctuality, scheduling, etc.) They perform a service maintenance twice a year for about $135.00/year. This not only gives us the inspections and servicing but also put us on emergency priority so that if something should happen they move us to the top of their service list and will even dispatch to us 24/7/365. This is a great benefit as we discovered...we had a small leak that slowly made the temperature rise though the unit was running. They sent a technician to us that SAME DAY! Otherwise it would have been about 5-7 days before a technician would have been available. Also, they did not charge us for sealing the leak and replenishing the freon. The maintenance agreement, we feel, is a value not only for the emergency response but moreover because it ensures our systems is running at peak performance and efficiency and in Florida during the summer that is huge.

I love them. I have a maintenance contract with them. I started it about 15 years ago because they were so good. They service the system twice a year; every spring and every fall. I have tried several others just to do that in the beginning when we moved here. I have stuck with them. They take wonderful care of me. They are fast and reasonable. They are all those things you want someone to be. I will continue to use them in the future.

waited more than four days for repairman, arrived one hour outside two-hour window, conducted cursory check of condensor and blower, took notes and my check for the service call; after two days, called to see when the repairs would be made and was told parts were backordered and that they would call me when in; never called; I recalled four days later and got same response; called again two days later and parts ordered were not what the repairman had written down; asked them to clear up discrepancy and call me back; never heard back from them-now three weeks at this point.

I called Gulf Coast when I noticed my A/C system was leaking. The first technician that came out was professional, curtious and I thought he did a good job at the time. He said that the A/C was clogged and explained the options. He fixed the clog, drained the system and did a full system check. When he left I was pretty happy. About a week later it got cold so I put the heat on and it didn't work. I was a little upset since it should have been checked as part of the inspection, but I called them back and gave them the benefit of the doubt. They were pretty quick to send out a technician and there was no charge because it had been serviced recently. I was pretty impressed by that policy. The technician that came out told me that the gas valve needed to be replaced and they had to order it. I had to wait a couple weeks and call them a couple times to find out that they had the part. They sent another technician to do the replacement and he said it wasn't the valve after all. He said it was the gas meter and told me to call the gas company. I called the gas company and they said it was the venturi. I called gulf coast back and then they told me it was going to be $661, but at that point they just wanted to sell me a whole new system. At that point I called REM A/C for a second opinion. The technician looked at it, took it apart, and cleaned it with a zip tie of all things. Voila, it worked! All that for a little bit of dust! REM A/C = $74 for a service call, Gulf Coast = $13,000 for a new A/C. REM A/C has my business from now on.
Description of Work: I called them to do a service on my A/C because it was leaking and later to fix the heater.

The salesman came out to give me a price. We agreed the unit could be moved from the west side of the house to the east side of the house. When the crew arrived, they informed me that it could not go on the east side of the house. I was told the only place it could go would be the north east corner area of my house. I told them all along that a fence was being erected close by, showing them where the fence post was going to go which was close to where the unit was going to be moved to. THEY chose to put it very close to the outside edge of the house, literally right next to the post. After the fence was put in, the gate could not be opened all the way because the AC unit was in the way. I called to see if we had any alternatives. They sent another person, another installer out. He and I discussed our options. He said, that, in fact, the unit could be moved over a foot or two away from the corner of the house which would allow the gate to be opened all the way. For some reason, after that discussion, which I would characterize as normal and calm, this man started arguing with me. I said, why are you arguing with me? I asked him to please quit arguing with me and he just left. I followed him out to the front of the house to ask him, well, what do we do next? His truck was parked a good distance away from my house and there was a low-flying helicoptor right above the house so I had to holler - "I don't appreciate your aruging with me, but are you going to move the unit?" To which he answered, if you're going raise your voice at me I'm not discussing this any further. I said (still having to holler), but there's a helicopter over head. I called the sales man, told him what happened, called the company, asked for the owner. The owner called me back and left a voice mail that he would get back with me. After that no one returns calls, not the owner, the installer or the salesman. I had to have another company come and move the equipment for an additional $200. Had Gulf Coast bothered to discuss the situation with me, I would have been happy to compromise with them and pay them something if it was necessary. But they chose to go dead silent. They will not be considered when I go to replace the unit when the time comes in the next 3 to 5 years.
Description of Work: This company moved my outside AC condenser from the side of my house which included the electrical box.

My old Central Air Conditioning System was leaking Freon and would not run more than 3 months without freezing up. Because the system was eight years old and I had such poor results from AHS repairs, I decided to get estimates for a completely new 3 ton System. I went to Home Depot to inquire about it and I wound up filling out a form to have a representative come to my house. Within a week, a representative from Gulf Coast Air, who is a subcontractor for Home Depot, came to my house and went over my options. I decided on a Trane XR13 with a 14 Seer rating and a 10 year Warranty on the Compressor and a one year warranty on the whole system from Gulf Coast Air. I paid $5025 and this included hauling off my old system and installing a new one. This included the outside Condenser unit, this attic air handler, new copper and a new condenser platform. They came out Tuesday April 28, 2009 around 8 A.M. and finished the same day at about 3:00 P.M. They came in with a team of 2 people and varied during the day to 4 people. So they completely change out my AC system in about 7 hours. It’s been running great ever since. I am happy with the transaction. Gulf Coast Air people are experts and did a profession job in record time. So far so good. I have no complaints and would deal with this people again.

The county came out to check my house. They told me that they had to pull the permits and they hadn't done so. They also told me that there was mold all over my air handles. We had to put ultraviolet lights in there to get rid of it. We were breathing in all of the mold for twenty years. When it was showed to me by the county I gagged. I called them and told them my problems and that I was appalled. They should have informed me. They were shocked when I told them. I don't think they train some of their people. We were breathing in that mold which creates health problems. They did refund my money for this year and they apologized but that doesn't help me for all that happened before. In addition, while the pipes were being replaced water drained down in the light fixtures and was draining into buckets. The plumbers told me it was an air conditioner problem. I was told it was not draining properly to create a shut off. We had used them for twenty years and I think these problems could have been prevented if they were properly trained.
