I purchased a 5-year warranty from Guardsman for furniture purchased at Haverty's. The plan was $650. I asked them to evaluate a stain on my furniture and they declined the warranty as "manufacturer defect". PLEASE don't use this company. They WILL rip you off.
Description of Work: I had a stain, a scratch and a couple of small issues that needed repair. ALL were covered under my warranty documentation.

I bought $4000 worth of leather furniture from Florida Leather Gallery/Matter Brothers Furniture chain in Sarasota in 2013. The chair's arm broke after 3 months and a year later, some ink stains that wouldn't come off got on the furniture by my little nephew who got a hold of a pen unbeknownst to me, despite my supervision, while I was cooking and babysitting him. In both cases, Guardsman treated me unfairly, unethically, ripping me off and not providing the "fix it or replace it promise" that they pitch when you are buying furniture in order to scam you out of your money thinking that you are ensuring your investment against accidental or defective issues, yet, all along they are lining their pockets with your money without any shame, providing you -0-service, wasting your time and money and giving you the run around, hassling you and just being total a*******. They know and don't care at all about consumer rights and protection, customer satisfaction and standing behind their products and services! I am reporting both the furniture company and Guardsman to the local and national consumer protection agencies! Don't give them your money, they are ripping you off! They are scamming you but won't be there for you when you need them!
Description of Work: Nothing. They had promised to either repair or replace my furniture in case of any accidental damage but they didn't. Basically, wasted my money and time and gave my nothing but denial of claim after another denial, BS excuses to get out of fixing or replacing the defective or stained furniture, in other words scammed me out of my money without any shame!

We purchased a furniture protection plan from Guardsman when we purchased our leather sofa from Ashley Furniture on 5/4/2010. On 12/24/13 we had several rips occur in the leather. We read our contract extensively, and the tear is listed under "what is covered". We contacted them within the prescribed time frame, they accepted our claim, and emailed that they would send a technician out to fix it. The technician came, did not even approach the sofa to check it out, but from about 3 feet away just took a picture and said that there was no way to fix our sofa since our sofa is leather over fabric (he was in our home less than 5 minutes). he said we would be contacted by the company for a refund or replacement. Less than a week later, the company sends us an email saying that our claim was now denied given that it was due to wear and tear. These rips were not wear and tear, they occurred on 12/24/13. I called customer service, spoke to "Angela" who from the very beginning made it clear her job is to simply repeat the phrase "it is not covered by your contract" even when it is. When I look online, the sheer amount of complaints against this company are staggering. They try everything to get out of honoring their contracts.
Description of Work: We purchased a furniture protection plan from Guardsman on 4/5/2010 and we are still under the contract terms.

I called and obtained an appointment to which no one called me to let me know they were running late. Over 2 hours. When I called the office multiple times I received an answering machine. Later that evening the owner came out to my house and gave me an estimate. Which he promised that he would be early to the repair appointment. Appointment was scheduled at 12 pm (by owner, we talked about him going to AZ for Christmas) and I was told it would take at least 2 hours for repair at time of estimate. 12:30 no person, no call. I called and asked where they were, and that is when I was told I had a window appointment, which by the way is not what the owner & I discussed. The owner then got on the phone and denied ever saying he would be there early or at 12. He told me I would not be able to work with anyone and hung up the phone. When my husband called back he was yelling, ranting and raving in the back ground. Owner said he would mail back deposit when he gets around to it.
Description of Work: Work was not performed, NO SHOW. Work that was to be performed was to fix water damage on a painted (to look antique) dresser top where the paint had chipped.

They have been very responsive. They came when they said they would. I will use them in the future. They use environmentally safe products. They can do it on site. The owner has experience with repair art, and is able to fix large gouges in the furniture.
Description of Work: They are scheduled to refinish a dining room table, a dresser top, five chairs and a hutch top.

Curt came to provide an estimate on the restoration of an intricately carved Oriental table and two stools which were acquired overseas during a tour with the military. This set had been moved many times and we were contemplating trashing it. Curt came, on time, and provided a written estimate which we accepted. The work was done as scheduled, the price was as estimated and we couldn't have been more pleased. Curt turned our trash back into a treasure.

I contacted Lori at the office. We discussed what I wanted done. The chest belonged to my Mom and had a lot of sentimental value. Based on the info that I gave her she quoted me a price of $300.00 plus tax and delivery. They picked it up and delivered it when they said they would. I was in the process of moving so they picked it up at my former home and delivered it to my new home where it looks beautiful. The repaired a broken hinge and restored it to look brand new. I am very happy with the whole experience.
Description of Work: I had a 60 (approximately) year old hope chest refinished. It was very scratched and abused.

Frank was on time, very polite, and very careful to protect the areas where he was doing work. Overall, we are very pleased with the service and the results.
Description of Work: A few months ago, we ordered dining furniture and it arrived damaged. A dining table corner was severely cracked/smashed, and two chairs were cracked. We called Guardsman Furniture Pro and scheduled an appointment. They explained that they charge $135 to come out and assess the damage - this $135 also includes the first hour of labor if they are able to repair the furniture (each additional hour is $90). Frank from Furniture Pro came to our house. He estimated that it would take two hours to repair the furniture, and we agreed to have him do the work. He was able to repair the chairs so that no damage is noticeable, and the dining table corner, which was badly damaged, is repaired so that damage is visible only upon close inspection. He was able to match both the color and grain of the table veneer coating. The two hour estimate was accurate.
