I waited 6 months before leaving this review in order to provide fair and balanced feedback. In November 2017 I solicited several bids to remove and replace glued-down engineered hardwood flooring in my living room, kitchen and hallway made necessary by a kitchen remodel project that left ghosts in the flooring where there were once walls. Richard was the least expensive so I gave him an "A" on Price. When we contracted on a price and product the entire job was supposed to take 3 weeks start-to-finish. In reality it was close to the end of January 2018 (three months) before the work was completed. The delays were all on the part of Richard Porupski who did not show up when promised and when he would show up he would work maybe 90-120 minutes and leave. More than once he would not show up at all. Removing the old floor was a tough job, no question. I recommended Richard rent the tools he needed at Home Depot but he insisted on doing it his way which left divots in the concrete slab I suggested filling but he denied it was necessary. It was taking him and his worker so long to complete the demo I even started pitching in just to move it along. To be fair, the old floor was very well adhered and it was a tough job but that is why you hire a professional, right? Richard assured me he had done this before and seemed to know what was required to get the job done. When the demo was completed Richard told me he had underbid the job. Moving on to installation of the new wood flooring, Richard sent two of his workers, Clint and Steve. These two men bickered most of the two days they were there. Richard never showed up to supervise or ensure quality control. Richard bought the new wood at Lumber Liquidators and bought Bostik Vapor Lock adhesive. Bostick recommends on the can that the flooring be rolled with a heavy roller to ensure full adhesion. Richard told me they don't do that and just walking on it should be sufficient. The areas that are now hollow probably could have benefitted from Richard following the adhesive manufacturer's directions to roll the new flooring. I placed heavy boxes of new product on the new floor after the first day to ensure good contact with the cement. There are areas where there are hollow spots. I requested Richard come to the house so he could epoxy-inject the hollow areas to get the good adhesion I expected. He promised to be there on a Monday and did not show up so I will have to do it myself. I have texted Richard to respond and he has not. He does not stand behind his work and I would not use him nor would I recommend you use him. Oh, and by the way, Richard left a table saw here that I moved to the work shed in the backyard so if you read this review, Richard, I still have your table saw.

First of all, the work was delayed, which we were ok with it. Then getting him and his worker to the house was awful: constantly showed up much later than promised, not response to the call/text messages etc. The job done was not professionally. We had to constantly monitor and asked them to do this and that to make it work. We really wanted to like their work, but unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience with this company at all.

Horrible from cashing 2 deposit checks for same job at Amscot and not refunding either, showing up late routinely and only working 15 minutes at a time/ Been over a year and job still not finished. He promised the attorney represent me and myself he would finish so I did not provide any negative feedback to give him a chance. He claims to have my final thread but can not get him to install it. He changed his telephone numbers and new number is 813-857-2157. The work looks like a first time DYI person did it

I love the finished result. My floors look amazing and the detail is great. I am supremely happy with the finished product. This is actually the 2nd project I've had FHF do (last one done in 2009; bamboo flooring installation). Rick and his crew are wonderful to work with.

Description of Work: The project took longer than anticipated, and there was significant amounts of stain all over our baseboards. However, the biggest issue was with the owner failing to use the product we requested. I specifically told him I did not want the polyurethane seal on the floors, but he did it anyway, which further extended the amount of time we were unable to live in the house. Our floors look decent, but I do not recommend Florida Hardwood Flooring.

Rich promised my father and me, that he would be doing the work himself since the nature of the job was so important to me. On the first day he was scheduled to start, he showed up with one other person.... 5 hours late. He and his helper were extraordinarily hung-over. At this time, my dad, fiancé and I decided to go have lunch. When we got back to the house (approximately 40 minutes later), Rich and his partner were gone and they never came back that day. We were FORGIVING of this, and thought they?d show up the next day with a full crew to make up for lost time. After a few days of broken promises and no-shows, some guys showed up- none of which we had ever met. Rich had them do the work he had promised he?d be doing. One of these men had a terrible attitude and threw tantrums over the work we were paying him to do. Then when it came time to pick out a stain color, he claimed that I ?wanted to ruin my heart-pine floors with this color?. He repeated it more than once to his co-workers and my father. I?ve never encountered someone this unprofessional before. After they failed to show up a few more times, and the weeks dragged on, we were finally able to reach Rich on the phone. He was EXTREMELY rude, and had the audacity to tell me (in a very raised tone) that he didn?t even understand why I wanted the job done so quickly, and why I was rushing them, because my house wasn?t even livable. Mind you, this is a restoration but dust and pealing paint doesn?t make a house unlivable. He later sent my dad a string of text messages composed of drunken banter and profanities aimed toward me. The next morning my dad made them get all of their equipment out of my house, and for a while we were worried they might come back and vandalize my property. If I could give these guys a lower rating than ?F?, I would. I've waited a couple of months to write this because I was too upset afterwards. I've written this review as kindly as I am capable of. This is a true account of my experience with this company. Unfortunately my half up-front deposit was lost, but the company I hired to finish the job did MARVELOUS work, and were extremely nice, professional and punctual. Just a higher price-tag. Don't make the same mistake as me!!! You typically get what you pay for. Be warned.
Description of Work: Rich (the owner) was contracted to sand, stain, and polyurethane my untouched 100 year old oak and heart-pine floors. I am restoring/saving a 90-year-old Tudor home in Historic Old Northeast. This house has original everything, and the floors are the centerpiece. Rich was also contracted to pull up old, asbestos vinyl in the kitchen and sun room (100-year-old heart pine was hiding underneath). He was quite reasonably priced, knew my father, and assured us of his superior work; so naturally I went with him instead of the more expensive guys. WORST. MISTAKE. EVER. Overall, his men (whom he sub-contracted the job to, without my permission) finished the majority of sanding within about 2.5 weeks time. It shouldn't have even taken a week.

Horrible. He was very dishonest. He represented himself as having the wood I had picked out and after I gave him the first deposit which was over half the cost he started showing me other woods. I had to pick a whole new wood on the fly. His men ripped out tile in a room they were not supposed to. He repeatedly said he would be sending a large number of guys to "finish" the job and either they didn't show or only one guy showed up. We were living in hotels and we had to push back our POD delivery and movers three times due to these lies. We then had an occurrence where his worker claimed that someone stole wood off the job. He said he just mis-measured and then we had to pay for more wood. He claimed he was giving us a deal and taking off the tile mistake and that it "leveled out". He had us by the balls at that point. Looking back, I am suspicious that he did take wood off the job so that he could get more money out of us and not have to pay for his tile mistake. He was also supposed to finish a threshold piece that I asked him about. Never showed. He is completely dishonest and I would never use him or refer him to anyone.

We had a HORRIBLE experience. Rich told us to use 2x4 layer instead of plywood because that is how it's done in the rest of the house. The wood came the following week as planned BUT the color was completely wrong. His workers told him and he ignored them until I had to call. He DID NOT pick up my call or return my call until his workers called him first stating I am trying to reach him. I was right next to his worker when he called Rich. Rich reordered the wood and meanwhile I told him the flooring seems to be making a lot more sounds than the existing floors. He then agreed we needed to lay down two layers of plywood and then the hardwood. Then he dropped off a person at my front step next day. During the day, I saw him sitting in my front yard. A couple of hours later, I saw him still sitting there. After chatting with him, he informs me that the nails Rich provided were too short and he has no car so he can't buy any more. I told him if he knows what he needed, I can drive him and pay for them. Shortly after we came back he left. Then we do not hear from Rich for another 3 days despite multiple phone calls. Nobody showed up to work as expected until finally I hear back from his admin. Rich sends a second guy over the next day with longer screws. After I confronted him (after calling the admin 3 times to finally get through to him), he tells me he fired the fired the first guy and did not realize the screw situation. Later that day, he said he would stop working on the house, but cannot return my money because I only paid for the material thus far. Then I went into the room and counted the number of plywood and confronted that it's not enough Rich tells me he still has some. Then I counted the hardwood and had to confront him the same thing. When he dropped off the materials, Rich took the screws and the drill bit I bought. After I confronted him, he texts me back that "I didn't realize you needed them." During the last 3 weeks, they have not returned a single one of my calls, did not show up on time (I paid for sitters in anticipation of them working on the house for nothing), and cut 1 layer of plywood that could not be nailed down. To sum it up, he is a liar, thief, and is not professional. I still have yet to see the receipts of the supplies and the difference that is owed to me. Overall, I would NOT recommend them for anything even if they are cheaper because it's aggravating to find them and they do not show up when they claim they will. Also, they do not know what they are doing. Rich claims I have cheap concrete which causes the screws not to take. I told a carpenter and he showed me how he can put the same screw in in 2 minutes. He also has never heard of cheap concrete.
Description of Work: We signed a contract on 9/4/13 to install hardwood flooring to a downstairs bedroom and closet. We specifically asked if they were able to replicate how it's done at the rest of the house and Rich agreed it would be easily replicable.

It was ok, but I did have a problem at the end of the project. I gave him his money and then after they left, noticed a small area that was missed. I called back within 10 minutes, and they advied me that he would come back, but never would. Called a couple of times, but he would not return my call. North B street

Florida Hardwood Floors repaired water damage to an existing Bruce oak floor. Also, FHF installed new Bruce oak floor to another room. FHF returned to fill hollow areas under the floor. Hollows were as a result of depressions in the finish of the concrete slab. Not FHF's fault. Corrected, satisfactorily. Seemed to install waterseal and adhesive, properly. Wood cuts could have been a little more exact. Nobody's perfect. Total job looks good. Nice people to do business with. I will contact, again, should I have future wooden floor needs. I recommend FHF to others for hardwood floor work.
