The person who came the following week, told us how he is always called to fix the other crews mistakes! This person started out great, but soon enough he was rushing to get done and get out of our house. He must've had something else to do. Upon further evaluation of our floor, we have found this is the worst $10,000 we have EVER spent! Before we could even put back together our guest bedroom all the walls had to be cleaned because the installers put their dirty, thin-setty, grouty hands all over them. Furthermore, they grouted closed our sliding closet doors! If we had to do this over again, we would NEVER choose Empire Today. We are so disillusioned with their whole advertising concept of buy today and install tomorrow and we are kicking ourselves in the butt's for not checking Angie's List prior to hiring a flooring expert. Every time we sweep the floor, we see more bad work. UPDATE: So our service started on 12/10/12 and today, 2/8/13, we are still not complete. Now the rep from Empire today won't even return messages or emails! I would NOT recommend anyone to use Empire Today! I cringe when I hear the commercials on TV now because I know they are out to do to someone else what they've done to us. Since my original post, this is what has transpired: I was called by a nice young lady and told a installation supervisor would be calling me to set up an appointment to meet with me to see the work done in our house. He did call and we did meet the following the Tuesday, Jan 29th. He shakes his head, says the right responses to my comments and tells me and I quote and quot;we will do whatever it takes to make this right.and quot; He also said and quot;I will call you tomorrowand quot; after he gives a report of his findings to his boss and they decide how to proceed. Well I didn't get the phone call from him. Someone else calls and leaves a message that they are coming to make repairs. That's fine, I want repairs; I want the job done and done right! So once again, we lose a whole Saturday to having to be home to wait on someone to show up to do repairs to which they do and and do poorly and use the wrong color grout and the wrong color tile. We just keep going from bad to worse. More calls, more complaints and now we have another guy coming to fix the fixes and once again we have the wrong color tile used to replace bad tiles. However, I will say Kevin has done a wonderful job at fixing the grout and he had to re-grout the whole house. Also, however though, the people working have been going through our garage and using our stuff to do their work when they should be coming prepared to do the job they are sent to do. My husband received a beer making kit as a gift. It cost over $100 and they used the beer buckets to mix grout or clean grout or whatever...doesn't matter because what matters is they have now contaminated the buckets and my husband cannot make beer. Also, the first crew who did the horrible job we have now realized dumped their grout water and whatever residual mess in one of flower beds in the backyard! Yeah, real professional. We have also been told by the people coming to do repairs that Empire knew the first guy they sent us was doing bad work and they had been receiving many complaints and they were just waiting for one more complaint to fire him. Hmmmm, if the guy is sub-contracted and is doing bad work, why keep him around to do one more bad job??? I warn everyone - DO NOT HIRE EMPIRE TODAY TO DO YOUR TILE! They might be good at carpet, but if you hire them for ceramic tile consider yourself warned and be prepared to live in disarray for months! I've never been so extremely disappointed in a company ever in my life. NOW I AM UPDATING THE UPDATE PRIOR 02/14/2013: Now I've complained about the buckets to which Empire has promised to pay for, but haven't received anything yet. However, we had 3 tiles replaced which were the wrong color and they were supposed to come out last Friday to correct them and guess what??? They no-showed us! That's right - no phone call and never showed up. Thought maybe they would show up on Saturday and no phone call and never showed up! They finally called Monday morning which again, is completely unacceptable after blowing us off for four days! Rude, thoughtless, horrible company! Never, ever, ever use Empire for your flooring needs! Find someone truly credible!
Description of Work: We bought tile for just about our entire house to include our living room, family room, foyer, hallway and two bedrooms. The sales person was nice and punctual, but told us the job would only take 3 days. Well that was an understatement! The installation crew showed up on the day expected and the time frame expected, but from there on not much happened as expected. The installation took till almost 8pm on the 6th day and 1 day they didn't show up at all and gave us a story of having to fix another installers mistakes at another job and there was nothing they could do, they had to go. For 90% of the job, we had one person working alone. They were obviously stretched too thin with work. They also rushed our installation and many tiles were put in incorrectly, they were sloppy and dirty, and the grout looks horrible in many places! On top of all this, once they were gone, we realized they had left the entire floor with a grout haze and cleaning with vinegar and water as we were instructed did NOTHING to help. We called the office and were told the installation crew would be back out to fix their errors. They showed up and ARGUED with us as to what the problem really was even though we had spoken to 2 other flooring companies that told us it was a grout haze that needed to be cleaned with an acid tile cleaner. After arguing with us and promising to fix the messed up tiles and grout, they left saying they had to speak with the home office. Well, THEY NEVER CAME BACK! I had to call again to the office and wait another week to get someone else out to clean up the mess.

They did a great job. They were late a day getting here, but it wasn't any big deal as far as I was concerned. They were here in a timely manner. The guy that came in to do the tile was a specialist and did a great job. He removed the toilets and placed them back correctly, where apparently the person who installed the toilets did it wrong. Overall, I was very pleased with the job.

Teresa came out and was full of energy. We loved the presentation, and it gave us the warm and fuzzy's (so to speak). She gave us the background on the company and how they got started, let us know about the company's warranties and how they stand behind their work. Everything was outstanding. The price quoted was way over what we were looking to spend, but she took a quote that we had received from another company and was able to get it price matched. So we ended up with the carpet we really wanted at a price that was within our budget. The carpet is so nice. We absolutely love it!

Great job! Sales reps can be aggressive but that's their job. When dealing with any sales rep, a customer should be prepared to say "NO" when needed. I had a good sales rep who respect the word "NO". Corporate office called me a few days later and made me a better offer. I request the same sales person to return and sign the contract for service.The installers were experienced and professional. It rained during the entire installation process. They worked for hours and I never saw them take a break.The price was higher than most but the service and warranty backed by Empire puts them at the TOP of my list for any flooring needs!
Description of Work: Brazillian Cherry Laminate wood flooring,with quiet walk padding and quarter rounds for entire 1st floor of rental property. Luxury Vinyl tile in upstairs closet, bathroom and downstairs bathroom, entrance walk way to front door and garage with quarter rounds. I called them at five in the afternoon, and they gave me a window between eleven and one the next day. They were here within that time window. I told them I wanted carpet samples that were on sale and in stock. They came with what I asked for. I picked the carpet, and they're coming to install it. They're awesome. They scotch-guard it and guarantee it.

This company has a decent rating in Angie's list so I decided to make an appointment for an estimated to install hardwood floor. Big mistake. The representative arrive 45 minutes late ( didn't call to inform that she was running late), unprepared with little to no materials, and poor knowledge about hardwood floor. I have never experience such an unprofessional presentation. My time was totally wasted and taken for granted. I will no recommended nor will I do business with this company.

That was kind of an odd experience. The gentleman that came out and gave the estimate was an elderly gentleman the first time. That was the worst estimate I've ever seen in my life. It was just well we'll throw this in and throw that in. They say if you buy this much, then you get this much free. I told the guy I really couldn't tell what he was doing here. I called Empire back and they sent a different guy out. This guy apparently has to go out and fix a lot of things that this other guy does. Overall, it wasn't much of a deal. The advertising made it seem like it was quite a savings. At least I got an estimate from the one guy. It was just odd. The guys that came out and did it were fine, but all the work up to then was like pulling teeth.

I spent $6000 with them. I thought the price was fair and reasonable. I think I paid a little bit of a premium, but it was worth it to me. They came out right away and did a good job. They did what they said they were going to do. It was great. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

My husband and I had gone through another company initially to have our carpets done. After paying for a service they didn't give, and the installer showing up with his petite wife to do the installation, he refused to move the one piece of furniture we had in the room. I received a refund and called Empire. It took no time at all from scheduling the service to actually having my carpets installed. I paid a bit more than I was going to with the original company, but it was worth it because 1. I got to pick a carpet I actually LOVE, and 2. I had it installed and ready to go the next day. The salesman and both of the installers were wonderful with Empire! I will definitely keep them in mind for future flooring/window/door needs!

Install went fine, the only hiccup was that the initial installer thought he had to glue the nail boards down with glue that would take 4 hours to dry. He came in the afternoon and it wouldn't have been done that day, so we asked him to come on Monday to avoid having exposed nail boards on our floor all weekend. When a different guy came Monday there was no glue used, nails were driven into the grout lines of the tile that we were carpeting over. Carpet is nice, and the guarantees they provide are worth a small hassle for the install.

The job went great! The salesman was very patient and took the time to show me numerous samples. He explained the process and there were no hidden costs or charges. A work order was given to me explaining all work to be done. It was all in writing. The install crew was there bright and early on the date promised for install. They worked rapidly and very efficient to remove the old and install the new. I can't tell you how nice the finished product is. It made the house feel even more like a home to have crisp, new and clean flooring. They were meticulous down to the minute detail. All the mitered corners are beautifully done. These guys are expert craftsmen. They cleaned and removed all the debri. Very personable and pleasant install crew. Hands down you won't find a better company or installation crew. They worked until late in the evening, until the job was done. It is really true what they say, they can come the next day and complete the work in a day. It was money well spent to get the job right the first time around. I would definitely call Empire Today again.

Questionable sales tactics and ridiculous prices. I would never consider them for any future projects.
Description of Work: The quote I got to put laminate in my 1000 sq ft condo was outrageous - $14,500. Then someone from the "corporate office" called saying he could override the price down to "$9,000. What a joke. No one else is this expensive. The guy actually told me he was worried that I was sacrificing quality by going for a cheaper alternative. What a joke.

I liked their price. The guy who came out for the initial consultation was on time. He gave a free estimate. They called to let us know that they were their way. They had the carpet installed in three rooms in about two and a half hours. They were very quick. We walked through and made sure everything was done to our specifications. We were happy with the job. They pulled up the old carpeting and padding. They cleaned everything up as they went. Once they installed the new carpet, they vacuumed. They got all their own equipment. They were very courteous and were very good. We were very pleased.

It was excellent and very good. They came in and the workers were conscious and good. They were quick. They had it all done and were out faster than I thought they would have been able to do it.

It went well. I am new to Florida. I went with Empire after having friends that used them in the Midwest. I honestly did not check Angies List beforehand, but unlike some others who made comments here, I did have a rather positive experience. I made an appointment for an estimate online. The only feedback I have here is that no one ever called to confirm the appointment, The only call I received was from Angelo (salesman) that he would be at my home in 45 minutes. Angelo was very helpful and pleasant. He wasnt high pressure, like some of the other salesman Angie's list members posted about. Sure, he spoke with me about other things (family, food, etc), but since I am a salesperson myself I know a good salesperson gets to know your customer :) The installers came the next day. They were professional and courteous and made sure I was completely satisfied before they left. Floors look and feel fabulous.

I had read some negative things about Empire before contacting them, but I decided to contact them anyway to get additional estimates on flooring prices. The salesman was nice, however he DEFINITELY was a salesman. If you're not ready to go wheeling and dealing with a used car salesman, just avoid Empire altogether. I knew exactly what I wanted and also exactly what I was willing to spend after doing other research. If you go into your appointment with Empire not researching what it is you're looking for and you're not ready to deal with a pushy salesperson then you might get taken advantage of. That's why I gave them a C in professionalism. The only reason that I bought from Empire was because they gave me a much better price than their competitors. Make Empire your last call and not your first. Have some pricing information in hand from other people so you know how much the products will cost elsewhere. I chose what is pretty much their top of the line hardwood product. Of course it wasn't eligible for the 60% off promotion that they were running at the time (only includes the base level products), but that didn't stop the salesperson from giving me a good price after some negotiations. I found it funny that at one point he even went to the car to "call the manager" like car salesmen do when negotiating prices on vehicles. I actually found the whole sales process a bit laughable at times, but then again I used to be a salesman and am aware of all the techniques that they can use. And this definitely was a high pressure sales presentation. Anyway, As I stated I bought the flooring because of the price and perceived quality. The installers came the next day and did an excellent job on the install. A year later and I've never had any problems with the flooring. I have two dogs, both in the neighborhood of 30lbs. There are no scratches on the hardwood and the floors have held up extremely well. I have hardwood (cheaper) that was sold and installed by another company in a different part of the house and that wood has not held up as well as Empire's product. So in terms of quality and workmanship they get an A+. I guess it all depends on what level of product you choose and who does the install. I'm sure some people are better than others, and with anything you get what you pay for. I could have spent substantially less if I chose a cheaper product, however I'm sure that it wouldn't have held up as well. Overall I'm happy with Empire and would use them again for hardwood, however I think I'd go to a company with a little more variety if I needed something like carpet or tile.

I called, made an appointment, and the salesman arrived when he said he would. He came and was pretty friendly. He seemed like a salesman, but I haven't met one who didn't. He was very thorough in his presentation. He was knowledgeable. He was very open and willing to answer any questions we had; he was patient. He showed different qualities of samples of laminate flooring for our dining, kitchen, living, and stairs, and tile flooring for the bathroom. He spent a little over three hours at our home and completed measurements. He showed us the terms and the estimate. Overall, we felt very comfortable with the possibility of going with Empire. When he left, I did some homework and found out their rating isn't good on here, but they have an A+ with the Better Business Bureau. I decided to have a second company come out. Their rep was 20 minutes late, here for about 15 minutes and left abruptly. They called later with an estimate $300 less than Empire, however they said it would take 3-4 days to complete the job. Empire only took a day and a half. What impressed me most about Empire were their workers. They worked so hard and I could tell that they take a lot of pride in their work. They did an outstanding job. They were incredibly friendly, clean, respectful, conscientious and diligent. I would definitely go with this company again. We have a 30 year warranty on our flooring, but they do not cover pet accidents. We do have pets, but any moisture cannot remain on the floor more than 72 hours. Our pets have had a few accidents, but we cleaned them up right away without any problems. The flooring has improved the look of our home, and now it’s much easier to maintain.

Made appt on-line for 5/12 1-3pm. 10 min later, logged again and made another appt for 1-3pm for additional appt same day for more services. Called Co to expl what happened to combine appts for 1-3pm. "Veronica" in CS expl 1-3pm on 5/12 was NOT available afterall, offered me other dates and time. I expl I had a confirmation # for that appt date and time, but she had no explanation other than to explain the computer was wrong, we couldn't have that time. I asked when we were going to find that out. She had no answer for me. I asked if it was because we added to original appt, she said no, it was never avail in the first place. I was speechless! I couldn't believe they have ability for customer to make their own appt on-line but software is obviously defective.

He came over and wouldn't measure the house for the estimate for flooring. He also stated that he they don't do subfloors but gave me a phone number. He wouldn't give me an estimate while he was there and left.

They were scheduled to install the carpet this Saturday between 8 and 1. At 2 o'clock, we phoned them as they hadn't arrived. We rescheduled at that time for them to arrive today at 8 o'clock, but they are now over an hour past due. When we called them today, they told us that the appointment had never been set up. The lady on the phone, Danielle, explained that the order was confirmed, but it hadn't been sent to the carpet supplier. This means that they cannot come out as anticipated now. This is very convenient as my wife runs a daycare, and the company doesn't seem to mind.
Description of Work: They were supposed to install carpeting in our home.
