Description of Work: Not sure if this supplier came from Angie's List or not, but if they were, I would NOT recommend them to anyone. The sales rep gave me a quote, we agreed, signed the paperwork, and a week later the Sales Mgr called to say I was "under-quoted" and an additional $500.00 (approx.) had to be added to the estimate. I told them to cancel the contract.

Description of Work: Tore out carpeting in 2 bedrooms and hallway and replaced with laminate flooring. Also added new baseboard. Salesperson was excellent. Scheduling team was also excellent. Contractor doing work did great work just was not reliable. This job should have taken maybe half a day at best. Because of other jobs and "emergencies" he had going on the side, this job was spread over tan entire 3 days from am to pm. Where they would come and start then leave and not get back till much later and work into the evening. We felt as though we were held hostage fro the entire time the work was being done. I would recommend Empire, just not the contractor.

Description of Work: Sent out a non English speaking crew to prep my floors to have carpet installed the next day. Was told they would be there between 8 and 12. They did not show up until 5:30. I took a day off work to be home for the early appointment. I could have worked. The next day again they sent a non English speaking crew to lay the carpet. They informed me the floors were not prepped correctly and they would not be able to lay the carpet. This meant that the first crew would have to come back on Monday and then the carpet would be installed on Tuesday. I would have had to miss two more days of work. So I cancelled the entire order. It took them another week to come back to remove the carpet strips and glue that they had applied to my tile floors. Thankfully I had paid for this with my AMX card and got a full refund. DONT USE THIS COMPANY.

Description of Work: I made an appt for the rep to come out on my one and only weekday off for 3 weeks, and made the appt early (between 9-11am) so I could run errands to the post office, mecanics, etc after the left. At 11am no call, no show so I called and asked if they were comming. The woman who answered the phone called the rep and called me back saying she would be there in a half hr (11:30). At 12:00 I recieved another call saying she would be there in an hour and a half more (1:30pm). I recieved a phone call from the rep, herself, at 2:15 complaining that my town has too many similar streets and that she is lost and needs directions (I thought that was why I provided an address and a cross st??). She finally showed up at 2:30pm complaining that the company overbooked her. She brought in samples and told me to look through some of them "before she had to lug more in" and she would go measure my room. I found one I was interested in and inquired about it. she sat down for ten minutes looking through pages of pricing and then just sat there. I asked what the pricing would be and she told me she didnt have it and would have to call for it. So i told her to do so. Then I asked what the SF of my room was (I already knew) and she said she didn't know. She hadn't figured it out yet. So i asked what the dimensions were and she gave me wrong mesurements that would have been a difference in almost 120 SF. So I asked how much it would be to remove the old carpet, etc. and was told again that she didn't know how much labor would be because it's all included in the price. .....WHAT PRICE?? . She then told me she would call back with a price and asked for help carrying the books back to the car from my son and husband. It's 8 days later and I still have not heard a word form the rep re anything. Sad for the company. I ultimately wanted to install 3500 SF (my entire house) over the next 6 mos. I am also an interior designer who owns her own business and is looking for new flooring people for my business. Decided to use myself as a guinea pig to find competant flooring people before using them for my clients. Thank goodness this wasn't a client situation! !WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

Description of Work: The salesman came out and did the estimate-I went into shock. Guess he thought I was a dumb blonde that came down with the rain last night. He said the flooring would cost $9500.00. It was a $5000.00 job. I already had 2 quotes from other companies. Then, he played the manager game (called) and came back and said $7000.00. After seeing I was not accepting that, then the price dropped to $6000.00. Told him no and he left. Five minutes later he called me and said if I put down $200.00 right now, he would do the job for $5500.00. Couldn't believe his nerve. Told him I don't make snap decisions. When they kept calling, I finally answered and told the guy to RETRAIN their HIGH pressure salesman. Plus, they have no office, just a warehouse. So you are on your own with complaints. Will never use them. How insulting he was, like I didn't do my homework prior to his coming.

Description of Work: Sales person came to our home, very loud personality. Which is ok, if it is just the personality. Gave us estimate, we agreed on a price, filled out credit application...then all of a sudden, he jumps up, says,..I can't find my phone...and walks out, so other words to us, no explanation, just walks to his car, gets in it and drives away. Wife and I sat and stared at each other, I said, guy acting like he had been drinking, she said, not only acting like it smelled like it also. He returned 10-15 minutes later...we asked about where he had been, he said he had to find his phone, and don't take it personal, but my phone is way more important than your carpet. At this point he was asked to leave. I addressed the concerns with the corporate office, their response was a $100 coupon if they were to send another salesman out to our home. During that conversation with "Helen" at the corporate office, I was told that after running our credit they could not finance our purchase. We had never signed a contract for purchase, only filled out application, which the salesman took with him when he left our home. Not sure if they are allowed to run a credit app without a contract, but they say you are. Subsequently, another appointment was scheduled, and they were a no show. We moved on. Yesterday, we get our "Here's your new Empire Card" letter in the mail. What a fiasco.....please, buyer beware

Description of Work: After making an appointment and moving some work appointments around to meet the sales person, Empire called me less than an hour before the appointment to cancel. Anybody that has had to move some work things around to make an appointment work knows how annoy this can be. I am very disappointed with Empire's lack of professionalism.

Description of Work: I called Empire to supply and install two bedrooms and a staircase with carpeting. A salesman arrived the next day with many and varied samples of different qualities and different colors for me to choose from. I picked an exceptional carpet at what I thought was a very decent price and was even delighted to find out the an online coupon could be applied as well. It is with pleasure that I give this company an A rating. From the prompt first visit with their knowledgeable and informative salesman, Angelo, to the installation of my fine carpeting by two proficient and efficient installers the very next day, Yahir being one of them, I can't think of a way it could have gone any better. I would be remiss in not mentioning that the salesman and both installers were not only professional but very personable and courteous in every way, making sure I was completely satified at every step.

HORRIBLE.
Description of Work: I WAS EXTREMELY UNIMPRESSED BY THE INSTALLERS FOR MY HARDWOOD FLOORING. THERE WERE TWO INSTALLERS. ONE WAS AN EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT MAN WHO DID NOTHING BUT SIT IN ONE OF MY VERY SMALL CHAIRS AND TELL HIS HELPER WHAT TO DO. WHEN HE WASN'T DOING THAT, HE WAS OUTSIDE SLEEPING IN HIS TRUCK. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO MOVE MY FURNITURE, WHICH THERE WAS VERY LITTLE OF AND WHICH I PAID FOR, HOWEVER, THEY WERE SO INCOMPETENT THAT I ENDED UP HAVING TO MOVE MOST OF THE LARGE ITEMS MYSELF (I AM A 52 YEAR OLD WOMAN). THE JOB TOOK THEM ABOUT 12 HOURS TO DO (THE ROOM IS ABOUT 120 S.F.) THEY ALSO LEFT TRASH BLOWING ALL OVER MY YARD AND MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD. I COMPLAINED TO THE REP THAT WAS ORIGINALLY HERE AND HE SAID HE WOULD DO SOMETHING TO MAKE UP FOR IT (HE WANTED TO TAKE ME OUT TO DINNER!!!!! EXCUSE ME!!!! NOT INTERESTED IN A PICK-UP (MY IMPRESSION).
