In brief, this is my community Home Owner Association (HOA). HOA's are one of those things you just pay...in fact I mine set up on auto bill pay. I have been an owner for 8 years and paid regularly, without fail. Last Oct I received a letter from my bank saying a payment was rejected. I forwarded to the HOA....nothing. Happened again and again. 4 times total. Nothing back from the HOA. I kept making payments. Nothing changed on my end. They switched banks processing their payments at the end of last year. I didn't find that out until later in the saga. The problem is, they had their lawyer send me a letter threatening a lien. WHAT! No phone call, no response to my email identifying the issue...just a certified letter from their lawyer saying pay up with late fees, late interest and of course lawyer bills. Escalated and escalated and finally got something back, he said "...I need to point out that you cannot just not pay your assessment for two months-if that is done with a vehicle they come and get it..." I guess what bothers me is the lack of care or give a s***. They screw payments, sent to the lawyer, affected my credit score and it's like it was nothing to them.
