Caldeco arrived at the appointed time. in consultation we changed the initial plan by adding another air return duct. Called performed the work although it meant almost an eleven hour work day. Subsequently, in reviewing the job, Caldeco caught the fact that the ducts were never sealed. We were informed and and set a date and time.. The crew arrived on time and spent time sealing all the ducts in the house.

Ruben came by my house and performed the service as scheduled, took roughly an hour to verify all was well. Very friendly and personable! I have used Caldeco for several years, and have always been extremely happy. A number of great experiences over the years. Marlene is also great to work with, a number of years ago she helped straighten out problems with the Carrier warranty (installed by someone else in town - unfortunately). I can't ever imagine change to another company. Don't let Ruben or Marlene ever go anywhere!

Fantastic workmanship - I'm very pleased that I chose Caldecott.
Description of Work: One room in my home would be 2 degrees warmer than any other room. Ryan inspected the duct work and recommended changing the 5" duct to 7". Scheduling the work took a little effort as they are extremely busy, however within a week Alex installed the new duct within 45 minutes and it's working wonderfully. Caldecott was great to work with at every level.

Exterior AC Unit began making screaming noises Monday evening. We called Caldeco at 7:30 Tuesday morning. They said they could get to us but it would be after 12:00. We were cool with that, understanding that August in Florida is probably the busiest time of the year. Called them at 1:30 and they said it would be between 2:00 and 6:00. Still cool, but house is now 86 degrees. They called us at 6:00 asking if we could put if off until the next day. House was now 88 degrees. Thye said they would get someone out. We are still cool. Getting to us the same day and not having to spend the night wihtout AC would be worth it. Finally around 9:00 pm the tech arrives. Work consists of repalcing fan motor and capacitor. I ask how much? Tech says with diagnostic charge 600.00. I choke. That is your best price? Yes sir. Prices are fixed. I understand the law of supply and demand and I want my AC fixed so I relent. This morning in five minutes I find both the parts on Amazon. The exact motor 53.18. The exact capacitor 23.95. 5.00 for shop supplies. Material total 82.13. Mark up the material 2x = 164.26. Diagnostic charge 85.00. Labor for an hour 100.00. Total with mark ups =349.26. Throw an extra 100.00 in for anything else they might come up with. 449.26. My bill was 660.00. I am all for free markets and paying for quality work and expect as much from Angies List Vendors, however there is a fine line between paying for quality service and being taken advantage of. I feel like they crossed that line. The tech was nice and polite and the people on the phone were also very professional.

Sir, I’m sorry that you are upset with the price on the fan motor replacement. I can only say that our pricing is either in-line or less than our competition. I promise you that we pay more than $54 for it. I see where my technician charged you the after-hours repair price for the motor replacement, which was a mistake because you called earlier in the day and we only charge after-hour prices to non-service agreement customers that call in after 7pm. Our standard charge for replacing that motor and capacitor is $524 plus the $89 diagnostic. The $524 is inclusive of parts, labor, sales tax, shipping and covering the parts and labor warranty for a period of 1 year. I will have my accounting department send you a refund check for $47 immediately. We sincerely appreciate your business and I hope that you will try us again in the future. Sincerely, Rick Caldevilla President

I was impressed with Caldeco starting with the first phone call. I was put in touch with Alex Myers of Caldeco who was professional and knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. I had lots of questions, but he gave me his cell number and was easy to reach. I know he was busy, but he treats his customers with respect and usually answered right away or if not, he always returned calls or e-mails promptly. We had multiple (12) companies visit the house for quotes. Caldeco was not the cheapest quote nor were they the highest. Where Caldeco excelled was in customer service and in making me feel comfortable that Alex knew exactly what we wanted and always went above and beyond to make sure everything met Caldeco's high standards. It was so nice hiring a company where everyone showed up on time and did great work. In our brief contact with other companies for quotes, we never received quotes from half the companies and of the rest did not feel the same comfort level as we did with Caldeco. When spending this kind of money, you really want to trust and feel good about the company you hire. Alex was very accomodating and came out a second time to go over the contract with us and help us select the proper unit. This was a good thing because we decided to upgrade to a better outside unit and somehow the price was lower since the original estimate contained some work we did not need. I've never heard of the actual contract coming in lower than the estimate! The Angie's List coupon also helped reduce $100 off the cost so don't forget to print the coupon if that offer is still valid. The day of the install, Alex arrived around 8:30AM and said his crew was about 10 minutes out. They showed up just as expected... thankfully my father-in-law was willing to hang out while I went to work. The crew was still there when I returned from work and remained until around 8:00PM. What was amazing was our new Air Conditioning was able to cool a very Hot house to our normal 78 degrees in just a couple of hours. I realize our previous AC had issues (and should have been replaced last fall), but it was still a great improvement. Our AC is running better than the original was ever able to do. The house cools much quicker, but the AC runs long enough to remove the humidity. One of the newer installers accidentally put a foot through our garage ceiling, but since he was ok it was really more comical than anything else. They were able to push the drywall back in place so it did not look too bad. They insisted on sending out a professional to fix. Janine of Janine Finishing did such a good job, we can not tell anything ever happened! There were a couple of adjustments made, which were of course all included in the original price. Part of our duct work included increasing the air flow in our 2 Zone system and the bypass needed adjusting. The gentleman who came out was professional and did a great job. He also checked everything from the install to confirm all was correct including the pressure and amount of coolant. I did lots of research to find the right Air Conditioning company. I checked everyone's BBB rating and looked at any complaints and read countless reviews on Angie's List. In fact, I read so many Angie's List reviews that they locked me out until I called to confirm that I was a real person and it was just me (and not lending my account to anyone). Apparently most people do not read so many reviews! After all this searching and meeting 12 companies for quotes, I chose Caldeco. I was very impressed with their work and I highly recommend Caldeco!

It's never great to hear that you need a brand new AC unit unexpectedly in the middle of the summer, but Caldeco did their best to make it as smooth and painless as possible. Alex brought proposals for a number of different units at a number of different price points and explained the benefits of each, so I never felt pressured into getting the most expensive model. I ended up getting something in the middle; I wanted better energy efficiency than the lower-end models offered, and the high end ones just seemed way too fiddly and had a lot of features I really didn't care about, like being able to reprogram it with your iPhone and stuff. Also, the high end ones were very very expensive. I like my thermostats very simple, and he was able to swap in a simpler one that was the same maker. Didn't save much money in the big picture, but it was what I wanted, and I really appreciated the little extra effort to do that. On the day the day the guys came to install the new one and remove the old one, they were right on time, and worked extremely thoroughly and efficiently. I also really appreciated that they took great care not to mess up the house, putting on shoe coverings and laying down paper to keep things clean. Upstairs, one of the guys actually got into the crawlspace to check out the ductwork and make sure everything was all hooked up properly - since it was the mid-90s outside, I can only imagine how hot it was in there. They finished well within the time frame I had been given, cleaned up all their stuff and best of all, left the place with now well-working AC. They were always polite and professional and did a great job. The system has run like a champ ever since it was installed. My only note to people considering them is that they are not cheap. But I learned a long time ago that quality almost never is, and in this case, you really do get what you pay for. After I got over the initial sticker shock, I was glad to have decided to go with a company with high professional standards, that hires good people who know what they are doing, sells well-made equipment that doesn't break 5 minutes after the guys pull out of the driveway, and stands behind their work. I would hire them again in a second, and highly recommend them to anyone who asks. You will get your money's worth.

Great, I came home to a broken AC unit and joined Angie's list knowing I needed a reputable, trusted professional company to hire for the AC system installation. I called multiple top rated companies on Angie's list and each company fell short in at least one area. It was becoming frustrating because as the days passed the house got hotter and I still had not found a company. I was starting to wonder if I would have to settle for one of the companies I met with. I got back on to Angie's list and did further research and came across 2 other companies with good reviews, one of which was Caldeco. The response back from Caldeco was the most professional and friendly I had received. I had mentioned I had another company coming in the morning but so far all the companies had shown up late, one didn't show up at all the day of their appointment, so I may or may not be able to meet with them at an afternoon appt. They were very responsive to this and said we will definitely be on time for our appt. It was clear to me they wanted my business and were happy to work for it. Reiss their sales person, arrived at the appt. time and the previous company I met with was my top choice at that point. He was the only person from the 6 companies I met with that climbed into the attic to check the ducts. He told me they looked good, he also took measurements and plugged the house details into his computer to get load recommendations and gave me a print out of my ac price and purchase options. I didn't chose Caldeco because of these actions but he made efforts the other companies didn't. They made Caldeco stand out and the sales interaction was above the other companies. I chose Caldeco because they offered Carrier which in my research and even the other AC companies opinions told me was a leading, if not the leading, AC unit in the business. There are other top brands and a few I was considering but Carrier seemed to be above my price range until Caldeco made their offer. They met my preferences on quality, service, warranty, tech certifications and price. I had 5 items that I needed from a company before I could decide. I told each of the other companies this and only one other was able to meet them. The one thing I heard during my AC shopping experience is that "installation" is key. Caldeco was also able to guarantee their work and their workers experience and quality work results. Once I selected them, they tried their hardest to install the next day since my house was extremely hot but I told them one more day is fine. They came the following day. Reiss was there, which was great. He introduced me to the lead technician and the other tech who worked on the outside unit. They were both friendly. They laid a tarp down over my carpet to protect it from their boots and work. That was much appreciated. I stayed during the installation and it took 3/4 of a day as they told me. The outdoor unit is very nice and looks very professional on the outside of the house. The indoor unit is nothing fancy to look at but it's behind a closed door and this is not a reflection of Caldeco's work. Also, they listened to my needs of a leaking indoor AC unit and Reiss said his company could install a drip pan with back up sensor to catch any leaks. With a new system it shouldn't happen but it's a simple and important feature to me. I appreciate Reiss listening to my concerns and providing such a simple but ideal solution. It's these little things that Reiss listened to that made the experience positive. I did have some questions at billing after the system was installed and had to speak with the office manager over the phone. She answered my questions happily and professionally. She also let me know that Caldeco works on Saturday and doesn't charge their customers more, like a lot of their competitors do. Additionally, they let me know the county needs to inspect the installed unit within 90 days of the permit purchase or I'd have to pay $75 to purchase another permit. They offered the service of scheduling the appt. for me. I decided I needed to see how the system performed and a completed county inspection before providing a recommendation on Angie's List. The system took a few days to get all the humidity and heat out of the house and really cool off. I was concerned I hadn't selected a strong enough unit but the air regularly feels cool and comfortable. I do feel a little more humidity with this unit than my other, but I was told by a few companies that with the older system the companies were using Freon to cool the house versus the system. I can't remember exactly how it works but basically my older system wasn't functioning properly. I can get the right temp. with a 1-2 degree change depending on time of day and outside temp. The lead service tech did show me how to use the temp. system but I just haven't set to my exact specifications yet. I already have recommended Caldeco to other people and will continue to. I hope to use Caldeco in the future to service my AC needs. I highly recommend them and Reiss is a stellar employee that really stands out among their competitors. He is a professional and cares about his customer, their satisfaction and the job completed by his technicians. The led service technician was also very professional and friendly. I enjoyed interacting with him and was happy he installed the indoor unit. The other company I considered and planned to use until I met with Reiss dropped their price a little but couldn't match Caldeco. They said Caldeco does new home unit installations and since they purchase high quantity as a Carrier dealer can get lower prices. That was another benefit to me of using Caldeco. I did receive lower offers but I didn't see the same professionalism, product or tech quality as Caldeco offered and didn't want a cheap but poorly functioning , short term system.. I also received higher offers but didn't see any additional benefits with the higher price. Update: can't remember right now when it started but I heard water dripping a while ago into the drip pan which it shouldn't have been doing. This could be a sign of a broken mechanical, part, installation or low Freon. A coil could cost as much as 1K. I had to bring the issue to Rick the owner because the warranty was only for a year and I wanted to make sure it was completely taken care of before the warranty ran out. The tech was out last week once it warmed up and put in more freon into the system So far I haven't heard any water dripping and since I was told it will take a few months to know if the freon was just low or if there are product issues that are covered by the warranty it's hard to say. Rick did say not to worry about the warranty timeframe and basically communicated any faulty parts or installation work that are later found as a problem will still be taken care of. I appreciate that offer.

Replaced a major component 1 year ago. Vendors rep insists on a $89 service call before quoting. I Will not pay a service call for something I already know. I already know the compressor is needing to be rebuilt or replaced. Rep offered for me to speak to the service manager. I hate being put on hold and so I declined. I did tell the rep to tell the owner that they are blowing off potentially $5k of business by insisting on this $89 service call. Paul called back. We have had a few conversations before. Each time I have tried to do business with Caldeco, Paul has to get on the phone and try to make adjustment to how they deal with my service issues. Each time I get frustrated and tell him where to go. Paul likes to pit himself against irritating customers and play word games.
Description of Work: Caldeco reps are not trained to do anything except parrot the $89 service charge.

Hello [member name removed], Yes we charge an $89 diagnostic charge for a N.A.T.E. Certified, Background checked Technician to come out and check out the entire system to find any & all issues and prepare a repair cost for your review. 7 out of 10 times when someone calls for a price over the phone for a compressor and we go out for our diagnosis, that’s not what’s wrong. It’s either a misdiagnosis or an unscrupulous repairman. We cannot prepare an accurate quote for a repair unless we know exactly what is wrong and all the details related to a particular piece of equipment. If we just came out and replaced the compressor based on someone else’s diagnosis and that was not what was wrong you certainly would not want to pay a $1500.00 repair bill, correct? We have been to your home once and made a repair and we thank you for your business. Mr. [Member]; You are being totally unfair with this review. You called our office and asked for a price to replace your compressor. I’m sorry; we are not going to replace someone’s compressor without first doing a complete diagnostic of their system. Replacing a compressor just because someone that is not a trained professional says to replace it would be irresponsible on our part. This is our policy and my dispatcher and service manager did their job and gave you the correct information. If you know so much about air conditioning; why didn’t you purchase the part and replace it yourself? You made a big deal telling them to let Ricky (me) know that he lost a $5,000 sale. When they told me what happen I told them that they acted according to our policy and commended them for it. I’d like you to remove this post. How can you give an “F” on Price, Quality, Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism when we never did the work or even quoted you? You were obviously happy with our work last year. If you did not like our policy; why couldn’t you just call another company until you got someone who would do what you wanted? We work very hard to do right by all of our customers and you trying to tarnish our reputation by this review is just wrong. Rick Caldevilla President

see above...it was the capacitors that were needing to be replaced. Although there were 2 different workers for the assigned job repair, there had been good communication between them by the Caldeco management. The company uses the most up to date computer programs and has the staff well trained in their use.
Description of Work: The A/C system quit working in the early evening hours. We have an annual contract with Caldeco for 2 semi-annual check-ups and had had one done within the last 2 months. Even though it was 7 PM they sent someone within the hour and we got the system working through the night. The rest of the repairs were completed at 8 AM the next morning.

Tuesday at 8:30am I called and asked if there was a chance to get someone to come out and look at my ac unit as it was blowing hot air. The woman on the phone said we will add you to our list and try to get one out to see you as soon as we can. I was called at 12:30 saying they have a tech on his way to my place and should be there within a half hour. At 1 pm Monte showed up. Very professional Checked air handler Monte retrieved his gauges out of his truck and hooked them up to the ac unit to check the pressure in the unit. I was informed there was a large leak in my system. He then rechecked the air handler to see if the coil was leaking. After checking he said the coil was leaking and it could not be repaired and had to be replaced. He informed his office of the parts and said they would inform me how long it would take to order and the cost it would be to replace. Thankfully I was informed that my coil was still under warranty and they were able to save me $900. I received a quote of how much it would be to replace the unit and they said they would order the part. On Thursday they were at my place at 8:30am on the dot and ready to replace my unit and by noon all the repairs were done and I had AC again. Fast service, very professional techs and overall I am a very pleased customer and would recommend them again.

Had a TECO energy audit and found out I needed my ducts sealed. TECO had Caldeco come out to seal the ducts. Caldeco sent Jose who came on-time, as scheduled and upon his initial inspection, he noticed that I needed a duct replaced too. Because he couldn't get to the duct, he offered to reschedule after we tried making space for him in the attic to get to the duct that needed replacing. We rescheduled, but soon after realized we couldn't make the extra space because it would compromise our hip roof. We came to the conclusion we'd have to remove a perfectly functioning duct to make space for Jose to replace the damaged one. Luckily, TECO does cover ONE duct being replaced, so we just paid for the second one. Jose again showed up on-time and ready to work. This time, he did have a helper so he could focus on replacing the ducts while the other guy sealed all the other ones. They were in and out in 4 hours. We're courteous and gave us an update every hour. Jose was amazing! Thanks!

It was very good. They were not able to repair it the first time. They came a second time to repair it and it didn't work. They came a third time to repair it and now it is working. They didn't charge any additional to come back. I didn't compare their prices. I was happy they responded quickly each time. They sent somebody additional out and finally got it right. They were very responsive.
Description of Work: I used Caldeco Air Conditioning & Heating to find a leak and repair it. They first came 5/9/14.

I called for a service appointment to have my coil cleaned. My a/c was running great until the technician pulled the coil and all the freon escaped in a huge cloud. The technician obviously realized his mistake and kept going outside to call the office. I called the office to report the incident and they then denied all liability. They wanted to charge me $2k to fix their mistake! PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT use Caldeco. Please use ANY other company!

I researched your account history and I see that this event happened August 8, 2011. My technician reported that you had a refrigerant leak on a cap tube. You said that he made it leak, but that is just not so. It is possible that he made the leak worse by moving the cap tube while he was searching for the leak. One year before this on July 10, 2010, we were at your home for a “No Cool” call and found that your system was low on refrigerant. We added 3-lbs of refrigerant and recommended a leak search; I have this invoice signed by you and I will be happy to provide you with a copy. Refrigerant is not consumed; if you have to add refrigerant it can only be because it leaked out. When you called the office to complain; my service manager Paul Ventrone went to your home where you had another company there to show him the damage that you are saying we caused. This company had no identification on their vehicle, so we had no idea who they were. They showed him where the coil was leaking and he tried to show them how it was not possible for someone to reach down that far into the coil to purposely break the cap tube. At this time, he was asked to leave the home. He then called me and I wanted to save our relationship by fixing the coil at no charge to you at you said that you would only accept a new unit which I was not willing to do for you. I’m sorry that you did not have anything less than a pleasurable experience with our company. We may not satisfy 100% of our customers 100% of the time, but it is certainly our goal to not only provide our customers with 100% satisfaction, but to exceed their expectations. A/C unit was not working properly. Contacted Amanda who promptly dispatched a technician on Saturday afternoon. Nelson came out and quickly diganosed the problem as a clogged drain line. In no time he had the unit up and running. Great customer service! Nelson and Amanda are the reasons I will use this company again!

Well. I received a bid but was not competitive.
Description of Work: I received a bid from Caldeco for a new a/c system since my 14 year old system was failing but still working. The technician came over and provided a quote. I was running about 10 minutes late and the technician was visibly upset; I was running late since I was getting another quote from a competitive a/c company. The technician quoted carrier systems, which was the highest of 3 other bids. I expected a more competitive bid from such a large a/c company. They seem to have a good reputation, but when it came down to price they were thousands more than everyone else. When I told them the best price I already received they would not budge on their price.

Hello [member name removed], Thank you for the opportunity to provide a proposal for your rental property 11 Months Ago. Sometimes it’s hard to compare quotations evenly, especially when there is a lot of work recommended by one contractor to do the installation properly and not the other. Choosing a reliable contractor is especially important when you live across the state as well. Hopefully you made a buying decision you are happy with. They sent someone out immediately, which was very convenient for me. They were very polite. They came and worked for 5 and 1/2 hours. It went back out so they came back out for free to make some adjustments. I know a new unit would cost at least double what they charged so I'm satisfied.
Description of Work: I hired them to repair an air conditioning unit.

Contacted Caldeco to make an appointment for an A/C tuneup on our 8 yr. old Goodman A/C unit. The appointment was for 3:30 on Friday 5/9/14. A/C technician Amos arrived later than scheduled, but was able to perform the tuneup in a timely manner. He was very professional and did an excellent job of checking and cleaning the unit. He advised us that the capacitor on the fan would eventually need to be replaced because it wasn't running the fan at 100% and showed this to me on the gauge he used. Since he had one on his truck we had him to go ahead and replace it at that time. We have used Caldeco in the past and have always had a good experience with them. What I like about them is that they do include cleaning the coils in their tuneups. We certainly will use them again.
Description of Work: Performed A/C Tune up. Replaced fan capacitor.

The installers came sharply at 9am. They were professional, well mannered, very competent and worked steadily and efficiently during the entire installation process. They took 1 1/2 days to complete the project, which was exactly as I was told beforehand. Their workmanship reflected that a great deal of care was taken to make sure that everything was done exactly as promised. It would be concluded by any layman inspecting the work that they strove for excellence in all that they did. The next day went exactly as the first. They wrapped up the work midday, explained what they did, the improvements they made and how to operate the thermostat. Their work is outstanding
Description of Work: Caldeco came in with the lowest quotation for the installation of my home's new central air conditioning system. During the initial visit, Reiss (estimator/technical expert/superstar) crawled throughout the attic to inspect the condition of all the vent boots and the flex duct runs. He then calculated air flow requirement for each room and recommended to increase duct sizes in order to balance the system, to have the rooms cool properly and to have the system operate at peak efficiency. This was NOT done by any other contractor that presented quotes. I had 3 quotes done.
