Customer, I want to apologies that we did not return your email in a timely manner. I received the Angie List email request at 8:53 pm on November 6, unfortunately that is after hours for our company and I did not look at it until the following morning. Our record shows we responded to your email at 10:51 am November 7 the following morning. Our company does have an answering service for after hours or if all our lines are busy. Our record shows our answering service did receive your call at 8:47 am. We did call you back about an hour later, but when we called you told my customer service representative that you had already chosen another company. We do our best to return all calls and emails in a timely manner. Unfortunately we did not meet your time requirement, and I apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you for giving our company the opportunity to repair your appliances. Sincerely, Lance Kimball

I had the technician, Mario, check the dishwasher to determine why the door would not stay partially opened. He found that the door links were broken. My microwave grill was broken and needed to be replaced. He was able to get all the parts in that same week and installed them at my convenience. He was on time, very professional, and explained what the problems were. He did a great job. I have used them before and will do so again. I've been very happy with all the work they've performed.

Please see above details. An analogy would be: a mechanic pulling out and replacing the old radiator in your vehicle but not replacing the existing radiator hoses with new ones. Then they would tell you if you wanted new hoses installed you would have to have that done by a specialized radiator technician. Had I been advised in the beginning, I would have called a plumber and not used this provider.
Description of Work: Problem: non-functioning garbage disposal. Need: Replace/install new garbage disposal. Called provider. Explained needed new garbage disposal installed. Discussed with dispatcher which garbage disposal unit we wanted. They advised they would bring the disposal with them. When the technician arrived, he brought a different brand than was discussed (a Whirlpool instead of a Badger). The technician was here approximately 20-30 minutes and installed the garbage disposal. It was discovered later that not all new parts were installed. The new disposal was attached to the old existing flange connector to the sink. The technician also took the box that the disposal came in; including instructions, manual, warranty and new parts not installed. The invoice did not reflect a separate cost for parts and labor. The company was called regarding our concerns. The manager advised that it was not their policy to install the flange as different technicians had different skill levels and we would have to have a plumber do it. He also stated that they did not do a lot of garbage disposal installations. None of this was advised when we called to schedule the service. He also acknowledged the invoice concerns and stated they just showed the overall price because people got upset with the labor costs. The manager spoke with the owner(s) and called and said they would come and install the complete disposal unit. A date was set. However we were not called with a scheduled time and no one called or showed up on the installation date set. After this, we elected to pick-up the parts and instructions/manual/warranty at the business site. We no longer had confidence that this provider could meet their commitments. We had recently used this provider and were happy with their service. We were extremely disappointed with our repeat service experience.

I want to personally apologies to the Member for the bad communication between them and our company. Our company did not meet the Member expectation. Our company dropped the ball several times on this disposer installation. Our company had worked on the Members dishwasher back in August of this year. The Member was happy with the dishwasher repair and decided to call us to get a price on replacing their disposer. He first talked to our customer service representative Eric. The Member explained that he had a ¾ HP In-Sink-Erator (trade name Badge), and wanted to replace it with a new disposer. Eric knows our company carries the Whirlpool line of disposers. While the Member was on hold I explain to Eric the Whirlpool line of disposer is manufactured by In-Sink-Erator. I informed Eric that we could order a Whirlpool ¾ HP motor and that it is manufactured by In-Sink-Erator for Whirlpool. There was a misunderstanding between the Member and Eric. Eric was trying to inform the Member he was getting a disposer manufactured by In-Sink-Erator, but the Member interpreted we were ordering an In-Sink-Erator disposer. We did not do our job explaining this difference clearly enough. The Member believed we were ordering an In-Sink-Erator disposer. This was the first ball we dropped. Our technician Mario went to install the disposer. Since In-Sink-Erator manufactured the Whirlpool disposer we can install the new disposer without replacing the sink flange. Mario installed the disposer using the existing sink flange. Mario put the old disposer in the box of the new disposer. Informed the Member that the disposer was installed, and took the old disposer with him. Mario by mistake left the paperwork of the new disposer in the box and did not give it to Member. This was the second ball dropped by us. Member called the office and I talked to him personally about this situation. He and I discussed the situation and I explain to him our company does not normally replace the sink flange. I informed Member that I had his old disposer in the box from new disposer at the office. The box still had the paperwork he wanted and the new sink flange. I explain the miscommunication error between Eric and him on the Whirlpool brand of disposers we carry. I explain that Eric was not as knowable of the different disposer brands. Member was understanding of the miscommunication. We both discuss the situation and Member requested if we could send the technician back out to reinstall the flange. After review the situation I said I would have the technician back out the next week to install the new flange. We discussed Tuesday or Wednesday, but I cannot remember the exact day. I requested one our customer service representative to write up the call for me to go back and install the sink flange. The representative did not understand me or we had a miscommunication, but by mistake no service ticket was ever written. Since no one wrote up the call we never scheduled for the technician to go out to the home. Now we have dropped the ball three times. The next thing I know the Member showed up at our shop requesting the paperwork for the new disposer and all the parts from the new disposer. I gave him the parts. I apologized for dropping the ball, and asked if we could schedule another day to install the sink flange. The Member explained it was too late, that he waited all day for our technician to come that never did. I understand Member feeling of us letting him down. Our company did not meet his expectation, especially after being satisfied by our repair service in August. I want to personally apologies to Member. If there is anything I can do to help resolve this issue please let me have a chance to change your opinion of our company? My goal is to meet or exceed our customer’s expectation, but every once in awhile we make mistakes and fall short. Sincerely, Lance Kimball Owner

I love working with them, I've used them 2 or 3 times since then. I would highly recommend them. I was also having an issue with my dishwasher and rather than charging me for the reapir he let me know which part to replace and saved me a $75 service call plus the parts/labor.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal to have them do repairs on my refrigerator. They looked at the ice maker and checked the lines. We were also having an evaporator issue with the fridge that they took care of.

Called company. Problem explained. Company policies explained by dispatcher. Service call was arranged for next day.Technician arrived when promised.Technician listened to my concerns. He identified the problem and explained the issue and costs for repairs.Upon agreement to proceed with repairs, he ordered the part and explained company would call to schedule repair date ( approx 2-3 days estimated ).Techician returned 3 days later to complete the repair: replacing the sealing gasket on the door. All staff ( techinican and dispatcher ) were professional, informational, and personable. We are very satisfied with the service and would use this company again and recommend to others.

From my initial call, to their call back for the appt., to the service performed; I am very pleased with Appliance Repair Specialists and will recommend them to friends. They are courteous, prompt, professional, and very fairly priced.
Description of Work: The technician was prpmt and very polite. AFter I descerobed the problem that the dryer was not fully drying the clothes after a full cylce, he suggested a few things that might have cuased the porblem. After chekcing the lint exhaust, he removed the control board and determined that it was not the issue. He removed the front of the dryers, checked the electrical coonections and found that one of the leads to the moisture sensors was disconnected. He did some other checks, reattached the front panel, and cleaned up the area.

Chris explained the diagnostic and repair procedures as he worked through the problem and suggested early signs for me to be aware of a repeat problem. I was so pleased with Appliance Repair Specialists that I recommended them to a neighbor with a long standing ice maker problem.
Description of Work: When we returned from vacation at 1:00 AM, we found that both the freezer and food sections of the refrigerator were not cooling. I phoned Appliance Repair Specialists in the late morning and the repair technician, Chris, arrived at 3:00 PM that afternoon as promised. He very promptly completed his troubleshooting and diagnostics and presented the repair cost which allowed me to decide if I wanted to proceed with the repair. The problem was that the defrost water drain from the freezer section was blocked causing water to back up and freeze which created an ice block which in turn prevented the cold air circulating fan from operating. After the drain was cleared, Chris did additional testing and determined that the drain froze because a drain heater failed. He switched to a backup drain heater and the refrigerator has been operating satisfactorily.

We found Appliance Repair Specialists through Angie's List when our washing machine suddenly would not drain while doing a load of laundry. I called on a Monday and received a Wednesday appointment. The tech arrived on time and had the parts on hand to fix the problem without having to come back later. To me that was a big plus! The fix took about 15 minutes total. I was glad to have it fixed, but the bill seemed high to replace a washing machine lid lock.

This was not an easy job; after 2 attempts to get the heating element fixed, the repairman discovered that the element was in contact with the box, the box was dented and needed to replaced. He tried to work with electrolux to get them to cover the replacement of the box, but since it was 6 months past the warranty period (figures), they wouldn't do it. Still, paying for a new element and box was cheaper than a new oven. The repairman was always on time, extremely professional and very easy to work with. I would hire this company again.

I discovered melted sherbet and thawed meat in the freezer today. After 3 other calls, i finally heard what I needed to hear - ARS could send a person over within 30 minutes to check out my frig. Unfortunately, the frig was dead on arrival. The frig was fairly cold, but the freezer now had melted sherbet and thawed food. Mario did his best to use a transplant and get the compressor going again, but all efforts failed. It was going to be next to impossible to find parts to repair it and it would be very costly! So I say, "Good-bye and RIP to a faithful frig that served my family well over the past 2 decades!" GE makes good products.Thank you to ARS and Mario for trying to serve my needs and repair my frig. I won't hesitate in calling you again when I need something repaired, and I'm on a short call time schedule! You got my VOTE!!!
Description of Work: After 3 other calls to businesses on Angie's List, this company was able to send Mario out on the call. He was within the time frame promised (30 minutes from the call time), and he was courteous and tried his best to repair my 1986 GE side-by-side frig. I ended up paying for the service call only - with the 10% Senior discount. Every dollar helps!

We had just moved into our home and the refrigerator icemaker wasn't working properly. We kept getting water on the floor. We tightened the couplings at the water line but that didn't solve the problem. We couldn't find a leak but kept getting water on the floor. We called and they sent someone out. The tech was extremely nice and professional. He found that the problem was the water was spurting out of the back of the machine when it was trying to fill the icetrays. He said it was because the line was frozen. He took the tube down, used a steamer to melt buildup, put it back together, tested it and was done. Great service, good response time and very professional service tech. Thanks!

Not well!!! Repair specialist? looked at unit and said just as I thought, the line to dispense water is frozen. He told me the door would have to be ordered and replaced. The other option was to shut the refrigerator down for 2-3 days and see if that would work. l#1-- I told the repair specialist that I wondered if that is what I would be told as I reviewed Angies List prior to the call and another customer was told that same thing. ( When it really did not have to be replaced) He told me that he was aware of that situation and that the person was no longer with them. #2-- I sent GE an e-mail and guess what... They said they have never heard of replacing a door just because the water line was frozen. # 3 --They wanted the name of the company that recommended this repair. My recommendation is that you do not use this company. Find one that is customer friendly and wants to have a great reputation of doing great business. I am apologizing to Mr. Kimball and his company for the misunderstanding that the GE company.created. After GE told me it could be fixed without replacing the door..guess what? You were right an they were wrong. I am sorry and apologize for this confusion. In fairness to Mr. Kimball, he sent an explanation of the repairwhich should have been done and a refund check for the amount of the repair, which we are now sending back to him. Again my sincere apology.

Dear Member, I apologize that we could not repair your refrigerator to your satisfaction. I do appreciate you contacting us after General Electric returned your email. I did talk to you personally about this situation. After our discussion about this situation, I personally called General Electric factory technical support. I discussed your refrigerator symptom with a General Electric factory technician named Kyle. Kyle explained to me that they have seen this situation with their side by side refrigerators and they do offer a repair kit for the units with metal liners. Your refrigerator is a plastic liner and there is currently no repair kit offered. Kyle’s suggestions were to turn up the temperature in the freezer section, or to turn the refrigerator off until the waterline in the freezer door melts. Kyle also noted that the door could be replaced to resolve the situation. After talking to Kyle at General Electric factory technical support, I personally called you back and explained what Kyle told me. You said you would try to adjust your freezer temperature and see if that resolved your problem. I also discussed your situation with Chris, the technician that diagnosed the problem. Chris explained to me that he has seen several General Electric refrigerators with this same problem. He has called General Electric technical support several times in the past and every time they have explained that the waterline is frozen and that it needs to be thawed. General Electric technical support has explained to Chris in the past that the easiest way to thaw the waterline is to turn the refrigerator off. I asked Chris if he recommended changing the freezer door. Chris said his recommendation was to turn the refrigerator off to thaw the waterline, and he did explain to you that an option was to change the freezer door, but he was not recommending that option. I cannot explain why General Electric customer service replied to you that they have never seen this problem before. When I talked to General Electric technical support, they were aware of this issue. I also did a Google search on “GE refrigerator dispenser frozen water line” there are over 160,000 results on Google. General Electric side by side refrigerator dispenser waterlines do freeze in the freezer door. The only thing I can assume is that the General Electric customer service representative that responded to your email had never seen this problem before, but the General Electric technical support people have. I wish I could tell you all my service technicians were perfect, and that they have never misdiagnosed other appliances before, but they’re only human. I have told customers in the past, I wish I could use the word “practicing”, like doctors and lawyers do, but that is not an option in the appliance service industry. My technicians are well trained, and are doing the best they can. They are repairing multiple product categories and multiple brands. Do they make mistakes? Of course they do, but as a company I feel we are one of the most reliable and honest appliance repair companies in the Tampa bay area. I apologize again that our diagnosis of your refrigerator was not to your satisfaction. Since our company did not satisfy your expectation, I will refund the service call. Sincerely, Lance Kimball Appliance Repair Specialists Manager

What a refreshing experience. We had just purchased a Dryer from a department store that had turned out to be a nightmare. The unit was only one day old and had only been used twice before we experienced problems. The location from where we purchased the unit would not repair it(even though it was their warranty). We contacted Appliance Repair Specialist and were able to get the same day service for their opinion. When Mario arrived he knew exactly what the problem was. He was able to get the unit working so I could at least get some laundry done before the store came back to pick up both units. Not only did it get the dryer working but he answered many of the questions we had regarding various brands of washers & dryers. It was so nice for a change to find an honest repair person and company. If we experience any problems with any other appliance again, they are the only company we will call. Great Job!

Stellar service and save me literally a couple thousand on another refrigerator. It started not getting cold yesterday so we found Appliance specialists on Angie’s list with a $20 service coupon. My wife thought it was dead and already picked out a $2300 new one at Lowes. The tech arrived right on time and only took him 30 minutes to analysis the issue and install the new part. Had it cooling again in no time. Cannot thank them enough! Regards, Mike Taylor

They first came out in the beginning of July and arrived on time to give me an estimate. After some time at my house, he determined that the only way to fix the refrigerator was to order a whole new door to replace the one that dispenses water/ice. They said it would take 2 to 3 weeks for it to arrive and that's how they kept stringing me along until the end of November when I decided I didn't want to wait any longer. And the worst part is no one EVER called me - not once. I had to stay on top of them and call them to find out the status of my order, despite them always telling me that they would call me and let me know when the refrigerator door would arrive. Very poor communication = very unprofessional. Not to mention that as it turns out, I didn't even need a new door, because last week I called another Angie's List company and they fixed my refrigerator the same day, without having to replace the door. Update: I spoke with the owner, he called and was very kind and apologetic. He offered to refund my estimate and has acknowledged that they "dropped the ball", but he will in the future personally stay on top of contacting customers directly and updating them on their back-order. He also mentioned that there is only one distributor for LG parts and they are out of Korea, so they are still learning to deal with the company.
Description of Work: A representative came out to give me an estimate on fixing my refrigerator so that it would dispense water and ice, he determined I needed a new refrigerator door, so I decided to go ahead and order it.

The overall experience was excellent and I would definately call on this company for any future applicance work. I thought the cost was a little pricey but the overall experience and the fact that he was able to fix the problem and was able to do service calls on a Saturday, where I didnt have to take off from work, made it worthwhiile. I would definately recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: I initally bought the "Big Deal" from Angies LIst for Large Appliance Repair Specialist for $79.00. I have a Whirlpool side by side refridgerator and the ice maker had completely stopped working. The repairman Tyson came in and immediately identified the problem of why it was not making ice. I had to later call him back to let him know that they fridge was not dispensing the ice. He came out assesed the problem and had to order the part. He then came back out a third time and installed the part. I was charged a service call only once since it was dealing with the same problem and could not be identified because there was no ice to see if the ice maker was working. Each time Tyson came he was in and out in less than 30 minutes. He was very professional and make sure he cleaned up after each job. Very impressed with this technician.

Prompt! Courteous and HONEST! I called for repair on my washer which was under 2 years old. After checking it thoroughly the repair man told me that it needed a new transmission. He also told me that it would cost as much or more to fix it than a new washer would cost. I would much rather go the new route than repair what I had at the same cost.
Description of Work: My washer would not agitate or spin AND it was less than two years old!
