First of all , They installed the wrong unit. When they came back and installed the correct unit they could not get it working right and blamed it on the house. They punched multiple holes in my wall trying to figure out the wiring. The two man crew that did the installation were very unprofessional, inexperienced, arguing and cursing with and at each other. They were also very sloppy. Tools and material laying every where, did not clean up after them selves, and did not protect the furniture as they were punching holes in my wall for no reason. Once the installation was finally complete and they thought they had the wiring figured out, the AC worked fine. A couple weeks later when it got cool, I turned the heater on and was only getting cold air . They came back out and fixed that and left again. After that , and it stated warming up again, I turned the AC back on and was only getting hot air. They came back again and determined that they still hadn't figured out the wiring correctly. What was the solution? Punch another hole in the wall! Yep! They moved the thermostat AGAIN. This was a nightmare and it cost me time and money for all of the times I had to come and wait on them and the drywall repair that I had to make for all of their unnecessary holes they punched in my wall. Between all of these issues their manager JOHN came out a coup,e of times and he was the most unprofessional one of them all. He is a Cocky know it all that accepts no responsibility for anything. He didn't care at all about any of the dilemmas they caused me, or that they wasted so much of my time due to their own INCOMPETENCE. After I was done with him, the general manager came out and although he was polite, he didn't seem to care about how incompetent his team was either. By the way I'm still waiting on that free AC service he promised me. Never heard from him again. I had used this company several times in the past and they did a great job. I even recommended them and they got the work as a result. I don't know what happened to this company over the last year or so but they went down hill fast. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU USE SOMEONE ELSE

Mr.[Member Name Removed] Our sincere apologies, this project is not how our typical installation occurs. Our first breakdown was our technicians did not check the equipment model numbers, when we picked up the equipment from our distributor. An honest mistake that we brought to your attention. We installed the unit on a Saturday and replaced the system on Monday to correct our mistake. We accept this is not our best effort to give you the best quality service, and we strive to give our customers. We have retrained out technicians to confirm the job information matches the equipment that is being installed. The issue with the wiring for the thermostat, was not determined until our technicians tried to start up the system. As the existing wiring couldn't be tested until the new unit was installed, we determined there was short in the wiring. The reason for moving the thermostat location was discussed, because we could not run a new wire because of the lack of access to pull a new wire. We determined relocating the thermostat would be a solution, unfortunately you did not like the new location. Hence we needed to relocate thermostat again, causing multiple holes in the wall. I spoke with Jon our installation manager, its my understanding all the issues have been corrected to your satisfaction. Please contact our office if any issues are still pending, your system and installation comes with a one year full warranty. I have also updated your account to show you have a free service still available. Again as a company we will use your comments and experience to improve our service to our customers. Regards Phillip Gonsalves Owner

They came out about a month ago; twice. We had a visitor here and they accidentally shut off the switch for the air conditioning and we called them and they came within a few hours, which was good in Florida. They discovered that the problem was very simple but he had to charge us 159 dollars.

I called Air Masters, and explained. They said that it would be $60/half-hour in labor and would probably take an hour or a little more. I asked which programmable thermostats they had, because I wanted to look them up in advance, but they said they couldn't tell me. They said their employee would have a number of thermostats on the truck for us to look at, of both Honeywell and Trane, but wouldn't tell me exactly which ones. I did some research online, and estimated that a programmable thermostat would probably run $100 or so, plus labor. Their employee showed up after 4 (for a 1-3pm slot), though they had called to warn me this might be the case. He only had two programmable thermostats with him - they were nearly identical Honeywell programmable thermostats, both priced at $499. When I looked online, they were available for $150. In other words, we were looking at a markup of more than 3x, PLUS labor. When he called, the warehouse eventually said they might have a cheaper version at $260, but even that one was $60 online! To his credit, the employee did not charge me the $60/half-hour for the 10-15 minutes he spent in my home discussing the problem. If they had given me concrete information about the thermostats they had on the phone, I would have asked the prices, and would have known they were charging an enormous markup on top of labor. In that case, I would have ordered one myself in advance for them to install. I felt that the company was being effectively dishonest by charging such an enormous markup and refusing to own up to it in advance so that I could make an informed decision.
Description of Work: We moved into a new house with a very simple non-programmable thermostat. We wanted to swap it out for a programmable one, so that we could automatically have a different temperature during the day and night.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Our mechanics only carry two thermostats in there trucks and that should have been conveyed to you when you called. The price for one of the thermostats was $150 and the other included labor for $499.00. When you order from the internet on most things there is a shipping and handling charge and the thermostat does not come with a warranty once it is installed. The contractor that installs the thermostat does not give you a warranty on the thermostat. As I'm quite sure you realize when you order from the internet certain items are a risky buy. Thanks for giving us a try I promise you next time we will get it right.

We have a contract through them. I really would not recommend them. We had issues with them for two years. They took literally two years. Their customer service is horrendous. The equipment that they recommended is fine and the people who put it in were fine. The workers that did the service were horrible. They have somebody in the office that takes your call. They're very nice about taking the call. The receptionist is nice and then they pass it to another department that never calls you back. They were always professional. I don't think anybody ever was grumpy or lost their cool or anything. They were perfectly fine. They just couldn't figure it out, on the service side. I would tell a friend not to use them. Honestly, it was really a bad experience.
Description of Work: They put in our new system a couple of years ago. They installed our entire system. They installed all our duct work and put in a brand new air handler, condenser, heat pump and everything. A couple of months ago they came out to service it.

It turned out the fan motor was not operating properly so it was replaced. taking things apart and replacing is not as easy as it sounds. However it was done well and parts reattached and all in great working order. And a service check up was done as well.
Description of Work: Overnight our Trane system began disturbing the sleeping neighbor's, without our being aware. they disconnected and got some sleep an so we called Air Masters. they were not the origional service provider for this system. their response time was terrific. And the diagnosis was fine. So our name brand Trane system now has new Made in Mexico parts to replace the Made in Mexico ones that failed.

I called Air Masters first in June, 2015 to replace the fan motor on my outside A/C unit. The bearings were squealing loudly, and the fan was going to fail. Eric arrived on time as promised, and looking at the unit, asked if I wanted regular inspections, cleaning, and the like performed. The outside unit was 12 years old, and the inside unit was 22 years old. I signed up for the twice-annual inspection program - springtime for A/C and fall for heating. Eric did a very thorough job, replacing the fan and the run capacitor on the outside unit, then went inside and replaced the run capacitor for the inside blower fan. He thoroughly cleaned both units, and addressed a problem I had experienced with a drain line. He also replaced worn insulation on the copper lines. Cost of the work performed was approximately $640 including parts and 3+ hours of labor. Unfortunately, in August the A/C unit developed a refrigerant leak in the outside unit. Eric promptly responded again, and found the leak in a tube supplying refrigerant to the coils, inside the unit. Eric pointed out that at some time before we had bought our house (9 years ago) that the unit had apparently been repaired at the same spot before, and cautioned that a second repair may not hold. I gambled the $500 for the repair (which required evacuating the entire system of refrigerant and moisture, and recharging it after the brazing was complete - a LOT of work). Unfortunately as Eric had cautioned, the repair did not hold. I was going to have to replace both the outside unit and my inside evaporator coils (the furnace could still be used, and had lots of life left). I thoroughly discussed replacement options with a specialist. I had to replace the evaporator coils because the old unit had used R22 refrigerant, and new residential installations must used EPA-approved R-410a refrigerant; the two are not compatible, and mixing the lubricatiing oils of the two will cause corrosion and premature failure. It is impossible to get all the old lubricants out. The specialist briefed me on several options; I elected to go with a Trane SEER 14 outside unit and matching evaporator (inside) coils, and to keep the old Carrier furnace (which probably has another 15-20 years of life). Then came a most pleasant surprise: Air Masters credited me for all of the parts for the prior repairs, and gave me a trade-in rebate, which saved approximately $740 on the new installation. I thought that crediting the parts that had been installed 3 months before was extremely fair on their part, and I did not have to ask them for it. Once again, in a timely manner, Jon and Robert showed up for what was to be a very difficult job. Installing the outside unit was quick (and included a larger "hurricane" pad to which the new unit is bolted) but replacing the inside evaporator coil was far more challenging because of the tiny odd-shaped closet my air handling equipment is located in. It was a struggle, and required essentially rebuilding the connections to the plenum in the attic. However, they stayed with it, and have left me with a much more professional installation that the original builders of my house did. They then performed the necessary purges, reinstalled the refrigerant, and set the system up for proper balances (critical in any A/C system, but especially so for R-410a systems). It was 91 degrees yesterday; my A/C is putting out 58 degree air from the ducts, and there is a 19 degree difference between that and the temperature at the return duct. That is perfect performance. The house is comfortable again, and the experience with Air Masters of Tampa Bay has been superb. I was concerned that water runoff from my roof would "drown" the unit during heavy storms. Without checking adequately first, I bought a "Kool Kap" that covers the outside unit to protect it from rain, heavy runoff, and leaves. It is a lightweight plastic disc that is supposed to open 85 degrees so that it does not interfere with air flow from the fan. Jon and Robert installed it with my system. Unfortunately, it would only open to about 30 degrees, which reduced air flow past the coils. I contacted the manufacturer, which told me that the fan on some high-efficiency units did not turn fast enough to lift the Kool Kap properly, confrmed that efficiency could be affected, and suggested that I return it. I did so, and Air Masters refunded the purchase price with absolutely no difficulty. And as it turns out, runoff from the roof misses the unit entirely. But the point is that Air Masters was professional, fair, and their service and installation personnel were hard working, extremely knowledgeable, and diligent. Doing business with them has been a pleasure.

My initial complaint was due to a bad smell on two of the bedrooms. I was told that it was likely due to the air ducts being dirt. We agreed to buy a package to clean up the ducts and install new filtering and a UV light. Another company was contracted to cleanup the air ducts. I asked them to look around the attic and check for dead animals (my cats were staring at the ceiling, and we had heard some noises prior). As it turns out, we had 4 dead squirrels that I had to remove myself, which is why we had the bad smell. Eventually, I found that the entrance point was through the power conduit that provides power to the AC external heat exchanger, and I took care of that myself. Like the old saying: everything looks like a nail to a kid with a hammer...

We spoke to Tony about this. He said that he did tell you he had a certificate stating that he was an system design specialist. He also said that you had a 2 ton existing system and that you wanted a 3 ton system. He told you that the duct work was designed for a two ton system and may or may not work properly attached to a two ton system. He also said that he wanted to perform a heat load calculation to see want tonnage would work the best for the house. At that time he said again that he was a specialist and was concerned about the performance of a 3 ton system. Besides it may have air flow problems. A system to large for a house may not run long enough to keep the humidity down, so that you do not feel clammy and start to have mold issues. A little information mold starts to grow around 60% relative humidity and dust mites can not live below 50% relative humidity. We do hope your new system works out for you. Thanks for calling us to give you a proposal.

Have been working AirMasters since April 2014, had new equipment unit installed by them in Aug 2014 and in Sept 2014, three repair service calls and one P/M service call performed btwn Mar 2015 and May 2015; Fearing that the unit installed was a faulty one, have requested that it be replaced with a new unit as this is the worst time of yr in FL for an A/C system failure - this is where the responsiveness gets an F grade. Each time I've called the office, of which there have been many over the last couple of weeks, it's almost as if it's the first phone call I've ever made. Overall this had been a disappointing experience. I was hoping for a little more followup and lot more customer service, I remain underwhelmed.

Don't waste your time. I called two times to schedule an estimate appointment, and never received a call back. I was finally able to schedule an appointment on my third try. The morning of my appointment, after waiting 20 minutes for the tech to show up, I called the office and was told the tech had an emergency, and I would need to reschedule my appointment. No one ever called to tell me. It took me to call them to find this out. They didn't return phone calls; and after finally scheduling an appointment, no one ever showed up. Uh, no thank you, I will not be rescheduling with Air Masters of Tampa Bay.

I asked the gentleman who quote the services to confirm plans for completing the services to allow for time to clean out the closet used to gain air conditioner access in the attic. No call was received, therefore the individuals replacing the unit arrived unannounced, requiring the closet contents to be removed on short notice. The work itself was completed over the course of the majority of the day. The workers were diligent in completing the work. Complaints reported via the gentleman doing the repair work regarding scheduling/service were unaddressed. As of 5/12/2015 we are replacing the entire unit, originally purchased in 2009. The company we are using for the replacement unit referenced on-line information indicating the Trane 2009 unit we currently have in place to have come with a defective/recalled TXU Valve. Since the repair of the coil, the valve now has gone bad, which most likely should've been identified as an issue at that the time the coil recommendation was replaced. The valve was a warranted item by Trane on 2009 to 2011 units. It appears the previous owners of our home didn't have it replaced under warranty. Air Masters should've had access to the information regarding the TXU valve issues on this type of unit and should've been aware of this "known" issue in the industry with Trane Units. We clearly paid well above the normal level for this coil replacement at $3203.00 (current vendor indicated typical charge is $1900). Not only did we pay top dollar for repair, we had horrible service and ultimately an incomplete assessment of the issue. This is the second provider used based on Angie's List recommendation that has had less than desirable service levels despite an "A" rating. I will most likely be canceling my Angie's List subscription as I find my neighbors/friends referrals to be most reliable.

Called to give us estimates on replacing our AC unit. They came out and examined our current unit, the house size and listened to our concerns. We were looking to replace a 20 year old unit with a new unit with a much higher SEER rating. Since our house is a two story unit, we also wanted to investigate using a "dual zone". Was given the estimates and recommended Trane , bringing both units up to a 4-ton (our current air handler is a 3.5 Ton with a 4 ton compressor). Trane ranked up in our top 5. In the end, we interviewed several installers from Angie's list. We decided to use a different installed with a different product.

Thank you for the review. While you choose to go with a different product, based on a national 3rd. party polling of the public owning A/C central systems Trane came out #1 in reliability. We are a good value due to Air Masters Quality Installations and Trane's great Reputation. Thanks again for the opportunity you gave us.

Eric was our technician and he did an outstanding job! Very thorough, very responsive and very helpful. We received excellent service from Philip at the office as well when we initially called for an estimate. This company did a stellar job and I will definitely recommend them to my friends in the future.

Repairman showed up on time, was friendly, courteous, and informative. He showed me what he was doing and finished in a reasonable amount of time.
Description of Work: Bi-annual checkup and cleaning. Annual maintenance program fee had been paid previously so this visit was no charge.
