It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out very well. They were very professional, I was able to set up the appointment at a convenient time, and they did a good job. There weren't additional charges. It was my first time to use them. They were responsive, they didn't try to sell me something I didn't need which is always good. I would recommend them. All the things that you want from someone actually, I thought that they were very good.
Description of Work: Air Masters of Tampa Bay Inc came out and did a test, it was like an annual review, they looked at everything to make sure everything was working right, they checked to see if there was anything that needed attention. There was nothing that really needed to be done, it was like an annual inspection to make sure everything's running right.

Noticed water coming out of inside unit in garage. at 6:30 on Sunday evening. Anything that goes wrong with this AC concerns me because the unit is an original unit to the house-- a 30 year old Carrier. It has not become a money pit yet but given how old it is, I know the day is coming when I will need a new unit. Called a couple of AC facilities but they were too busy to come out. Called Air Masters. Was told that the tech was on a service call but he would put me next in line. About half hour later, got a call that he was on his way. Name on his shirt is Fabrizio but he goes by Breezy. Cleaned out the clogged line and more importantly, DID NOT TRY TO SELL ME A NEW UNIT! That impressed me. In addition, the cost was very reasonable. I used the $25 Angie's list discount. This facility actually recently replaced my neighbor's AC system for a reasonable price and they were very happy with their service. So when my poor old Carrier is at it's end, I will certainly consider them.

The guy came out and he was extremely nice and waited for me, then, just repaired what needed to be repaired and did a very good job. He was in and out in a short period of time and fixed the problem. He didn't try to sell me a new unit or anything, so I was very pleased about that. The $49 I purchased the deal for went towards the purchase of a compressor that he needed and it cost me $125. It was excellent and a very good service.

Our air conditioner wasn't cooling and the condensation line was blocked. It was 5:00 p.m. and I tried calling another company on Angie's List, but they didn't work after 5. So I called Air Masters and they said that a technician would contact me once he was done at his current job. So around 8:00 we got the call and he said he would be over in approx. 30 minutes which he was. He diagnosed the problem fairly quickly and got it cleared out and working in half an hour. Very nice and professional.

This is one of those scenarios where providing someone with a 2nd chance can and did payoff... Phillip Gonsalves, VP of Air Masters called me in less than a week after my very unpleasant experience with calling their Office to schedule an appt. to have my AC's replaced, which met with absolutely no response at all from their Sales staff. Nevertheless, Phillip took charge of not only inspecting and providing us with a fairly competitive estimate, but negotiated with a better price to place Air Masters' proposal within reason of the three other bids received for the project. Here's WHY Air Master's "won" the bid versus Lowe's... Lowes' initial bid for the exact same project and install as Air Masters was $1,800.00 less than Air Masters, but Phillip intervened to "sweeten the deal" by reducing Air Masters' Proposal by approx. $600, BUT, BIG BUT HERE, Lowes uses preferred Contractors and the Contractor, who came to our home was from Wards Heating and Cooling. THIS WAS THE DECIDING DIFFERENCE. Lowe's price was right, but the Ward's Rep consistency intervened to "quiz & challenge" me on just about anything I said I wanted to do. In fact, his constant response to me was, "Why?" Case in point, we had an engineer take a look @ our AC system particularly, the attic ducts, junction boxes and return air ducts for recommendations. He suggested for "better air flow" we install a small Return Air duct in our rear, Master bedroom, which was approx. 18' from the existing Return Air duct for the 3 ton unit. The Wards guy (Rep), immediately asked me "Why we wanted to install a 2nd Return Air duct" and actually challenged our request by stating, "There's no reason for another Return Air duct." Basically, a very contemptuous and selft righteous attitude, which ultimately p***** me off resulting with my calling Phillip (Gonsalves) and asking him his thoughts re: this et.al. matters. Phillip's response was very candid and in fact "supportive" to every one of the engineer's recommendations. Although the Trane rebates, as advertised via the media, were severely overstated, we were a little disappointed, despite the fact we went with Trane's #2 not #1 Variable Speed AC's, we only received a $275 Rebate, we were pleased with Air Masters' overall Proposal and they were awarded the Contract. we had a couple of minor bumps and grinds and a slight delay of installation, but ultimately the install not only met, but exceeded everyone's espectations... I need to elaborate on this comment, which is very important... The entire AC install had to be inspected by the City... When the City Inspector and his Assistant. inspected the "outside and inside" units, The Inspector commented, to me, "This was a FIRST CLASS JOB (INSTALL.) Every bit of the install looks exceptional and it is visibly apparent they "rehung" your ductwork the way it should have been hung when the house was built." I could see he was visibly impressed with Air Masters' work. This was an unexpected and unsolicited accolade complementing the quality of the work performed by Air Masters personnel and explains why we were satisfied to ultimately pay more for the same project with Air Masters. Phillip (Gonsalves) has monitored our satisfaction to this date...even got a call this AM asking how our units were performing. We are interested in seeing how much money savings we have this summer with our new, Trane AC's versus our old "gas hogs." This will and should be the true testimonial for the cost justification for replacing our entire AC system at this time.
Description of Work: Replaced our 3 & 2 ton 21 yr. old Trane A/C and air handler units. Replaced all junction boxes and rehung AC ducts. Checked all ducts and junction boxes for leaks.

Called them at 4PM for emergency service when AC went down on hottest day of the year so far. The woman said they would have someone at the house between 5 and 8. At 8:45 no service person had either shown or called, while temp in the house remained over 90 degrees. I called them and received voicemail. Later Air Masters called and told me no one could come until next day. I told them they should have called and told me they weren't coming. After I told them I was going to write a poor review on Angie's List, they called me back and said they would come, but only after I contacted another company. I worked in HVAC for 20 years. If we weren't coming on the hottest (or coldest) day, we'd tell the customer up front. If I hadn't called, they never would have. I know it was hot, and that kind of day is when there are tons of emergencies, but you don't leave customers high and dry in extreme conditions, IMO.

Arrived promptly. Very friendly. He originally seemed to think that the age of the AC would be part of the problem but upon inspection realized that it was in good shape overall despite age. He looked through ducts. Then he dug out the pipe to the freon thing and added in more coolant for a fee. AC much better and I felt good that everything had been checked over. Well worth it.

Service was scheduled for a window of 10am-12pm with a call from the office prior to the tech heading out. At about 1215pm, the office called to advise the tech was on his way, no mention or apology of the delay. The tech arrived at 1240pm. Aside from the slight tardiness, this was a good experience. The tech was professional and courteous. He asked if I had any specific concerns or questions and promptly performed his work. He took care to cover his shoes as not to track in mud on the carpet, even though he was not asked to do so. Overall, this was a good experience and I would use their service again. Thanks, Breezey.

Scheduled right after deal purchased. Prompt and courteous serviceman. But right from the start I was given sales pitches to buy new system and a service membership. Showed me a display on monitor saying we needed to replace a double capcitor because it was "blowing weak". Didn't realize until later he upgraded 3/440 to 10/440 with new blower cap. Made a display of pointing out the used part would go in a box and be taken from his truck back at the company - that's the way they work. In retrospect don't feel we really needed it and wish I'd kept the part. Had not been a problem, not even mentioned, during last year and half of service from other companies. TECO has also fully inspected entire system for efficiency with no recommendation. System does not appear to work any differently nor more efficiently since part was "replaced". We bought this home 2 years ago. Kept selling throughout service. Gave a discount on part and applied $49 deal price to $180 membership for next service in about 7 months. When I pointed out that meant the 2nd of two $90 services was costing me $131 he offered they would give me a discount for "early renewal" to make up for it. Finally agreed to membership because inspection seemed thorough as it progressed. Next he found something else wrong in outside unit which I did not agree to replace. Tried to get me to replace one of two parts anyway. Refused again. Turned condensation line repeatedly and left it pointing to the ground where p-trap would not fill. Changed inside filter only after I requested it be done. Then pointed out we have "unmatched" system and again implied we need to buy a new system soon even after I repeatedly told him we have no plans to do so. He did a lot of double talk throughout as well as selling. Overall I've considered cancelling the membership but don't want to deal with the hassle I anticipate getting if I call to do so. Will use for next service already paid for but will not renew membership.

I called around three in afternoon, the receptionist was very friendly and efficient, she even had a good idea of what the problem with my system was. She told me she would call me back when she had a technician that could help me. She then called back promptly to let me know who was on their way to my house. I paid Angies List $299.00 to have a UV light that cost $100.00 at Lowes in my AC unit. Airmaster then sent me a statement that they charged me $209.00 for this service. As I was originally charged $299.00 for this service , I was wondering did Angies list get the $90.00 that was the difference from what I was Charged?
Description of Work: Airmaster did a good job of installing the light it took the service man about 20 min to install the part. He was very knowledgeable in installing the light. The bulb should be good for about a year than has to be replaced. Hopefully this light will keep out the mold from the air ducts?

He used the Big Deal as an introduction to their company – as intended - and let me know that my system was in good shape & needed no additional work at this time, which was really decent of him. He was nicely dressed & polite & offered his service for the future. The installation took place the day after I phoned for an appointment. Very friendly person, who gave me some additional advice concerning my system. No sales pitches of any kind. The lamp has worked very well, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the service.

Their service is good. They diagnose problems well and take care of them. You will have a better price with them than you will with other people. They do not try to sell you a warranty through their company instead, through the manufacturer.

This was probably one of the best experiences I have had in dealing with a special deal. The company contacted me timely, arranged the installation at my convenience called early that morning when it appeared they technician may be late called me back almost immediately to tell me they would be there soon. The technician did his job and did more than was described in the deal did not try to sell me or upgrade me to more money and was extremely courteous and efficient. If I were'nt selling this house I would definitely contract with this company to provide maintenance service to this unit. Based on this experience, I can highly recomment this company.
