ACS Heating & AC

1st tech diagnosed a condenser board failure. Upsold us on the club membership in order to save 15% on the repair. Paid up front $49 service call plus $6.95 monthly club fee plus $237 *labor only* for condenser board. The board itself was under warranty (unit only 3 yrs old), however we were told by ACS it would take 7-10 days to get the part from the manufacturer Goodman. I didn't like that timeframe so the next day I called Goodman Customer Support and they told me the part could be expedited. When I relayed this to ACS, they said they could not confirm this info, even after speaking to their warehouse manager. After several days back and forth with no success on getting expedited shipping, Goodman located the part in Indiana and it arrived in FL true-to-form 7-10 days from initial call. But it gets worse. The 2nd tech to come out, a field supervisor, diagnosed that it was a readily-available 3-amp fuse on the board that failed. He took the fuse off the new board and put it on the old board. We didn't need the board after all! And I wonder what another company would have charged for a simple fuse replacement. My guess is something less than what we paid. The final kicker: I called to find out more details on our club membership. I have to wait 1 month to cancel else they will charge me the full price for the service call and repair. I also called and left messages for the owner and/or service manager to address these concerns. Days later and no contact from anyone.
