I took the chair to McRae's along with a box of pieces that had fallen off of the chair. They reglued every joint, reattached the veneer, replaced missing veneer, made new rockers out of the same wood that the chair was made from, and refinished the chair. The finished chair is solid and looks just like it did years ago. I was very pleased and will be using McRae's services again.
Description of Work: I have a rocking chair that is over 100 years old. It was stored for many years in a damp shed and as a result the rockers rotted away, all the veneer fell off, and all the glue joints were failing.

Description of Work: Repaired and refinished antique cedar chest. Did a great job! I'd used this business over 10 years ago for another repair and refinish job and was happy with the service then as well. I will definitely use them again.

I called McRae's and explained what I needed and Mr. McRae told me they could fix it and to bring it to their shop. I went that afternoon and he reviewed the damage and gave me an estimate. He assured me he would maintain the integrity of the desk top. Within one week, he called and said it was complete. They did an excellent job, even went beyond the needed repair and repaired other areas that were loose. Also, they stayed within their original estimate. I would certainly recommend them.
Description of Work: Needed repair of antique oak roll top desk (top portion only) damaged during a move.

The initial contact and the meeting at the shop weren't that great. They are a bit short and not incredibly good with customer service. I was left to wait for a good 15 minutes with no acknowledgement of my being there. The final product was worth the wait though!
Description of Work: I've had two dining room chairs that belonged to my grandmother in my garage for months, broken, worn and dirty. I finally decided to get them fixed and refinished. I took them to McRae's and they kept them for about a week. They are quite beautiful and completely restored to their former condition. I was a little taken aback by the customer service....not the greatest with face-to-face contacts. their hours are not that customer friendly and their shop is incredibly dirty and hole in the wallish....but all-in-all it was a very successful experience.

The legs on my mother's dining room table had been a problem for years. They reattached the legs in a different way and have had no problems since. Side-rails had been lost during a move. New ones a good match with headboard/footboard.
