Horrible service. I’ll NEVER, ever, buy here again. For 22 years I bought appliances from them with their big sales pitch being, “We are local and offer much better service than the big boys across the street.” I could have saved $150 to $200 “across the street” every time, but bought local. Less than four years ago I bought a refrigerator from them. Within 18 months the freezer fan motor went out and had to be replaced. It happened again 14 months later ($125 each time) and happened again eight months later. They told me the part had a one-year warranty, but not the labor. They tried to get GE to replace the unit but GE only offered a $350 credit towards another “lemon.” Mays-Munroe offered nothing, plus I went to the store three times to discuss. Every time they said, “We will call you tomorrow; that never happened.” Totally unacceptable, plus one employee was just flat-out rude to me. Big promises never delivered upon. I’ll shop “the big boys” next time.

Our original dishwasher (purchased from this vendor ten years ago) died. The tech from Mays-Munroe said the circuit board was fried and could be replaced, however, because of its age it might not work or it might be difficult to find (it should be noted that over 20 years ago, in a different city, we had a similar problem and had the board replaced, three times, before we finally got a new dishwasher.) So we went to Mays-Munroe to get a new dishwasher. The staff there was friendly, helpful, and pleasant. The dishwasher was ordered, at a competitive price, and delivered and installed within a couple of days We would highly recommend Mays-Munroe for all your appliance needs.

The best experience I have ever had in purchasing an appliance!

Disapointing. Worst washer I have ever owned.
Description of Work: I bought a new washing machine from them and traded in my Maytag which only had a problem with the door hinge. Had I known that the Whirlpool frontlload machine was going to be useless in 3 years, I would never have traded my Maytag but would have had it fixed. Now I need to find a used Maytag washer and try to sell the Whirlpool.

I used Mays-Munroe for appliance repair. They are not cheap but I don't remember the cost. I couldn't get a drink of water or ice out of the ice maker. They came and looked at it and said that I would need a new door. I didn't want to get a new door. My dish washer died, I had 2 dish doors and they died and they came and let the bad ones away and installed 2 new good ones. They sold me those too. They are very professional. They know what they are doing. I have done my appliances there. If a friend or a family member asked about them I would say "go there". They are not cheap.

Robert did the repairs on the washer and dryer, as he has done twice in the past. He is punctual, friendly, and very skilled, and a great source of information as to which appliances have the best repair records. His advice on the old Maytags: keep 'em. Christine and Rebecca helped me select a refrigerator and a dish washer. I visited the store several times to look at my choices, and they were very helpful, cheerful, and patient. The refrigerator was delivered promptly and the dishwasher awaits a kitchen remodel. I have done business with Mays-Munroe for thirty years. Mays-Munroe is a local store, family owned. I intend to do my part to keep it in business. It is a local treasure. Their prices usually meet anything a big box or the Internet might offer, and the personal relationship is easily worth any small difference in price.

I love the dryer and greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone at Mays Murnoe. I highly recommend them as a family-owned LOCAL business with a personal touch.
Description of Work: Purchased a Miele dryer - received excellent advice regarding product features. Christine (sales person) bent over backwards to find a Miele dryer - they had one left in the model I wanted and she made sure it was delivered in a timely fashion. Christine is very knowledgeable about appliances and called me when she promised to set up the delivery. Delivery of the dryer was done on time - I really appreciated the fact that they call about 20-30 minutes before delivery so I don't have to sit home and wait for hours. I was able to work until time for the delivery. The delivery guys were professional and quickly had the dryer installed.

Mike Munroe spent a good bit of time helping us select our new appliances. He asked us what was the most important feature we were looking for in regards to each purchase which was key in making our selection. He was pleasant and professional to work with and the appliances were delivered on time. We called them back regarding the bottom drawer of our GE Profile Electric Range...it appears to be crooked...and they have ordered parts to repair it and get it right. We have purchased appliances from Mays-Munroe in the past as well and will continue to do so in the future.

We had purchased several microwaves, refrigerators, a bed, etc., over the last 20 years from Mays Monroe and while the prices were never competitive, their service had always been great-including repairs. Prior services had been right at the store, but May Monroe moved their service facilty to another building across the street and it is no longer physically in the store. I purchased a GE Convection microwave last December and one day the microwave just went out. I took this microwave to their repair center around 9/13/12 to be serviced. I was informed they would call me back and let me know what was going on. Almost a week later, I get a call saying the main board went bad and a new one would have to be ordered. Another week goes by, I don't hear from them. I call back and Mays Monroe informed me the part is in and I should have my microwave by the end of the week (9/26). I don't hear from them by the end of the week. I call back again (10/3) and I was informed the wrong part was ordered and they had to reorder the right part which should be in this week. and quot;Ok, I need a microwave because you guys have had it for almost 3 weeks. (very rudely) You part has been ordered and you should have your microwave by the end of the week.and quot; I didn't want to get into an arguement over the phone because the person is only hired help. I can tell readers this is my absolute last product to be purchased from Mays Monroe. The service is no where what it use to be and I hate to inform Mays Monroe they are not the only game players in town. I can get the same level of lousy service from their competitors and at least save some money.

Very disappointing. We've been loyal, happy customers for 26 yr; but, that ended last week. The black glass top is bowed and will not sit flush on our brand-new Cambria countertop. The Mays-Monroe installer just walked out and left it that way. When we got home we found our contractor had not bothered to check the installation (he is now also history). Worse still the installer did not notify either us or Mays-Monroe staff about the defect. We took photos of the bowed top from which the foam rubber gasket protruded in areas (in other areas it was merely visible) and went to M-M on Saturday morning, 5/5/12. We were advised by the wife of one of the owner's that it would be OK because the item is still under warranty and can be repaired. I was not happy with the idea that my brand-new, never-used cooktop would have to be repaired; but, waited until a "technician" could be dispatched to look at the problem. Tuesday afternoon, 5/8/12, a member of the Monroe family who works in M-M's service dept informed me that, indeed, the cooktop was defective with badly bowed glass. That person also informed me that Jenn-Air's policy is not to replace a defective product;but, instead to repair it. When I objected to having to have a brand-new item essentially refurbished before I've even used it, I was informed, rudely and abruptly, that they were "trying to help" me out by offering to repair the item. I got so frustrated I hung up and let my husband call M-M to deal with it. He spoke to one of the owners on Thursday, 5/10/12 who advised him that their policy is to check items before they are taken to a customer's home and to replace defective equipment, even if supplied by Jenn-Air. By this point I had lost confidence in M-M because the defective item was installed in the first place; and, we had to make 3 separate contacts before finally getting reassurance that an intact cooktop would be supplied. We advised the owner we don't want the defective item repaired. We want it removed. We were informed that our money will be refunded when the cooktop is in the possession of M-M staff after removal. (We also cancelled our order of a Miele dishwasher and our money was promptly refunded 5/11/12.) Of course, one of us will have to miss hours of work on Tuesday morning waiting for M-M staff to come by and remove the bad Jenn-Air.We stopped in a Clark's Appliances this Saturday morning, 5/12/12, and plan to purchase our cooktop from them. The owner confirmed the bizarre-sounding Jenn-Air policy; but, assured us that they will not install any defective cooktop. They plan to adopt the simple strategy of opening the box and making sure the item is satisfactory before bringing it to our home! I hope our dealings with Clark's will be as pleasant and satisfactory as those we once enjoyed with Mays-Monroe. A sad way to end a relationship which saw us purchasing 2 fridges, one free-standing range, a built-in wall oven, a deep freeze, a washing machine, a clothes dryer and a garbage disposal. We won't be buying our Jenn-Air from M-M or the new dishwasher we still need to complete our kitchen renovations. I hope they aren't the only Miele dealer in town; but, if necessary we'll buy another Kitchen Aid to replace the 28-year-old champ we are reluctantly replacing. And, the clothes washer has started making funny noises...good news - Clark's is a Maytag dealer.
Description of Work: On 5/4/12 Mays-Monroe installed a 30" Jenn-Air downdraft, radiant heat cooktop which does not fit flush with our new Cambria countertop. The installer just walked out and left the defective item without a word to either our contractor, to us or to his employers.

I've used them for maybe thirty years. I've been here for a long time and I've used them for my rental property as well as my house. They sell things. If you have an appliance I would never think of having anybody else and there's no doubt about it. I use them for everything. If there's anything ever wrong all I have to do is just tell them. I have rental property and they are just there. They've been in this town for at least fifty years and their service is great. It's actually run by one family and everybody works there. It's not a little thing but its well known by many people in this town that think very highly of them. Ever since I came to this town on 1972 I have never bought any kind of appliance outside of Mays-Munroe. Their prices are absolutely just as good as other stores but their service is terrific. They will go out and even measure for you with no extra charge. It's just an unusual kind of thing. I've used them so much that we know each other's voice. I have a lot of respect for these people. It's run entirely the correct way.

The dishwasher was not worth repairing, so we replaced it. I thought I got a good deal on the replacement. We ran into a snag with the refrigerator. I had bought an extended warranty on the dishwasher through a warranty group, but they refused to honor it. They said the damage seemed to have been inflicted by me. It was a sagging and torn refrigerator door gasket. I talked to Mays-Munroe about it. They said that was a warranty provider that they didn't use anymore because they have had too many complaints on them. I filed a complaint with the state's Office of Insurance Regulation. Within a week I got a call from that warranty group saying that they would authorize the service and pay for it. Mays-Munroe then sent their technician back out and did the repair. The State's Office of Insurance Regulation was fast and effective. I think there are some good people there. I had spent $50 for the service call which occurred first during which they determined the repairs that would be needed to be done on the dishwasher and the refrigerator. I then spent $399.95 for the dishwasher which they installed at no additional charge. I spent nothing on the refrigerator repair because the warranty group paid for it after the State of Florida intervened.

They sell appliances and all kinds of things. When we first renovated our house we bought a Kitchen Aide range and it was a total lemon. Munroe kept coming out and repairing it. I finally called them and said you know we've had 10 repair calls in 5 years. I talked to Ellen Munroe and she was horrified. She called the Kitchen Aide people and she got us a replacement range. I cannot say enough great things about them. The service has been wonderful and like I said, she just went the extra mile for us.

They are always excellent. Our washing machine was dying. It is 12 years old and we were trying for the last bit of effort it was giving. It was making a really big noise like an aeroplane taking off. He came out and verified that. He put the belt that had slipped back so that we can use if until we can. They are always quick and efficient. You can stand on their work. We have been using them for 30 years. We have bought appliances from them and also got them serviced. They really know their products. They are quick to work with you. We rely on consumer report for product evaluation, and they will pull up the consumer report for whatever appliance you are looking for and go over them with you. They want you to be happy with their products. I would rate them high across the board. We bought our machine on Saturday afternoon and they delivered it on Monday.

I purchased each of the appliances from them, except for the stove. The stove was too old to repair, as they didn't have the necessary part. When they came to repair the washer, he didn’t make the Friday appointment, so he came on Saturday on his own time. He found that the motherboard needed a switch. He came back the next week with the switch and put the belts on at my request. I prefer to deal with family owned companies rather than large stores, so I enjoy working with Mays-Munroe.
Description of Work: They have been here four times since Thanksgiving. They have repaired my Maytag dryer dishwasher, and washing machine. Today, they came out to try to repair my stove.

Honesty and integrity....something rare these days! I highly recommend Mays Munroe.
Description of Work: I had a problem with my Kitchenaid refrigerator that I purchased almost 4 years ago from Mays Munroe. After weeks of getting nowhere with Whirlpool who made the product, I went back to Mays Munroe and spoke with sales manager Mike Munroe.
