This was a long time ago. I'm not even sure of the exact date, but since a review was requested...here goes. I replaced about 900 square feet of sheet vinyl and carpet in my home with porcelain tile. It was installed diagonally, which takes more time and more materials. They were finished in about 10 hours, in one day. The tile looks great and I get compliments almost everytime someone sees it for the first time. The only problem with the quality is the occasional uneven tile. Not enough to be a tripping hazard, but evident. I am just about to replace the flooring in the other half of my house and will certainly get a bid from them this time.

Great job! The floors are beautiful. Daniel and his two man arrived on time and finished according to schedule. Daniel is very knowledgeable about wood and professional. Buddy answered all my questions and took care of all the details. I would definitely use them again.

We had problems. Not with the company, but with the subcontractor. It was a bad installation job. The tiles weren't even and they had to come back and rip them out. Brian Bernard was good. They stood by the product. You can't fault this company for the work the sub-contractor did. I was very pleased with the way Brian handled the situation, just not pleased with the sub-contractor. They did make corrections. It's still not the best job, but it's better than nothing. I understand that when we had ours done, they also had an issue with another customer that this sub-contractor was doing so they made some corrections at that time.

Wood product and tile quality was good. Most important you need to be wary of the installers. Both the wood and tile installers were poor at best, I had a floating floor installed and there were several places where the floor was raised up and spongy. The installer had to come back 3 times and it's still not right in some places. Also not responsive. The tile installers were not punctual and also did a poor job, Seems between tiles are different widths looks like an amateur did it. Also they left a space not tiled because I was having a door installed. never returned to finish. I had it finished by someone else at my own expense.

I spent the morning removing all items from the room, including the utlity sink. The installer showed up on time but with no clue how to lay the sheet vynil over the transition rise. He did his best, but the results were abysmal. The flooring did not adhere to the subfloor and looked terrible and the rubber edging was not glued down and seperated. I called the salesperson and showed her pictures of the botched install. I have spent thousands of dollars with Brian Barnarnd on previous jobs and was sure they would come out and fix the poor installation. I was stunned when she told me that to actually do it right, it would cost me an additional $300, but she would give me a "discounted" rate of only $175. No thanks. I spent one day and $13.75 to undo their mess and put in good flooring that looks great. Poor quality . Poor service. They have lost my business for good.
Description of Work: I needed sheet vynil installed in a 10' x 14' downstairs utility room. It was a little unusual because it had a six inch rise transitioning into the room. The salesperson came out to see the job and gave me a quote I thought was a bit high ($700), but I thought I was buying expertise to deal with the stepped transition in a professional way.

Julio and his team arrived on time and worked without a break until the job was completed and the furniture put back in place. No walls or door frames were damaged in the process which is significant as there were lots of heavy and bulky furniture pieces to be moved out of the bedrooms and back. We were very impressed with the work done by Julio and his team. We decided to have the bedroom walls, baseboards and ceilings painted by a painting company before the carpets were installed. The painters moved the furniture away from the walls in order to paint. Unfortunately we did not allow for enough time to let the paint on the baseboards cure long enough before the carpet installers arrived. The baseboards were painted the day before the carpeting was installed. As careful as the carpet installers were, their installation tools caused paint to be rubbed off from some of the baseboards in the carpeting installation process. In hindsight we would advise others to either let the baseboard paint cure (takes two weeks) before re-carpeting or painting baseboards after re-carpeting. The painting company (Superior Painting)was kind enough to return and touch up the baseboards at no additional expense to us.
Description of Work: Removed original carpeting in three bedrooms and replaced it with Karastan Smart Strand Silk Object of Desire, a very soft but dense carpeting. Moved all furniture out of each room and returned it to its place after the carpeting was completed in each room. Disposed of old carpeting.

The installation did not go well and took much long than anticipated. The installer arrived by himself for a big job. He complained aloud that it was a job for two people but that the salesperson didn't share that information. In his efforts to do this alone, the installer knocked over a TV armoire and broke both it and the TV. This left a few ruts in the newly installed vinyl, and of course there's the issue of the broken armoire and TV. Long story short, it took months to get this resolved, with the salesperson telling me I needed to deal with the installer, who turns out was a contract employee used by the company, and the installer being unresponsive. Finally, after many calls and letter writing, the owner of the company hooked me up with a furniture repair person who fixed the armoire, and the installer's insurance company reimbursed me for the TV. A similar thing happened when I purchased stone kitchen counters from Lowe's. Once the salesperson has made the sale, they hand you off to an installation company. They don't much care what happens after that.
Description of Work: I purchased heavy-duty wood-look sheet vinyl for a downstairs are of the house that gets a lot of wear and tear from kids and pets. I paid for both the product and the installation.

I worked with Melinda, she seemed nice from the get go but a little scattered but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I picked out my tile and we had come to an agreement on price. I was very aware of what that exact price should have been because I was on a tight budget. I went ahead and gave her my info to charge my card and order my tile over the phone. My mistake was in taking her word for it and not having the price in writing. I saw my credit card charge a few days later and saw that she charged me more than we had agreed upon. I called her and ended up having to leave a voicemail. She responded with an email claiming that she didn't have the amount notated and isn't good with remembering tax or something but this is the price that it should be. I remember her telling me on the phone what the price would be and I had already done the math before speaking with her - calculating my exact price with tax and shipping because I was on that tight of a budget. When she said over the phone the amount that I had come up with I figured we were good to go. I tried calling her, leaving word with the receptionist for her to call me and emailing her, she never responded to me. If for some reason you ever have to use this company make sure you get EVERYTHING IN WRITING but personally I wouldn't use them ever again.

Salesman was superb. Installation manager called to arrange an install date after the new carpet was delivered to the showroom. Installation manager called the day before installation to re-confirm. Carpet crew was scheduled to arrive between 9 and 9:30 AM. They arrived at 8:30 AM which was no problem. Three in the crew. Two moved furniture while third ripped out and installed. They worked the house in four quadrants which was really excellent programming. Took a 1/2 hour lunch break away from the house. Returned and completed the job and were gone at 5:15 PM. Remarkable: 8 1/4 hours for a 2,000 square foot house of carpet with furniture.

"We were building a beach house and just unsure of the flooring due to the sand and water from the beach and pool. I wanted hardwood but was concerned about all the sand and water we would deal with and tile can be so hard and unforgiving. Luckily I commented on my doctor's beautiful hardwood floor and she told me it was vinyl from Brian Barnhard's Flooring America on Capital Circle and that her wonderful sales person Was Fred Addonizio. My experience with them was the best. Fred was most helpful showing me their selection, making suggestions and working with a house plan instead of a house to measure. Installation went flawlessly and many of my sub contractors were so impressed with the new generation vinyl they were interested for themselves. They vinyl looks just like hardwood, holds up to sand and water unbelievably and has a tecture that makes it non slip. The colors even hide the sand that is impossible to keep out of the house. It has been over a year and we are still in love with the vinyl. We would recommend Brian Barnhard's Flooring America to anyone. The pricing and selection was the best I could find. Though I don't know the other sales staff, no one could have been better than Fred. He deserves a medal for knowledge, patience and personality. He will do whatever is necessary to get you what you need even when you aren't sure exactly what that is.Georgine and Tom Piper

We saw a very specific tile we loved while in Texas. After searching all over we had given up finding it in Tallahassee. I had gotten a quote from Melanie at Flooring America about a year prior, but we didn't proceed because it just wasn't what we wanted. Flooring America got in the exact tile we had been looking for, Melanie came back out did another quote, we negotiated and came to an agreement on price. Melanie was wonderful throughout the entire experience. All of the Flooring America owners and staff are exceptional. July was our carpet installer and he did an outstanding job. Prompt, courteous, efficient, & completed a quality job. Our spiral staircase was not easy and he made it look perfect. Had our project stopped here I would have give Flooring America solid A's across the board. The tile did not go so smoothly. I initially wanted to review him separately, but I didn't pick him separately, I was told by Flooring America he would be my tile guy. So ultimately I think they are responsible for the folks they send out. Day one, our tile pattern was wrong when I came home. That was promptly fixed the next day. The five day project was 10 because the main installer was injured. We had two colors of tile put in: Brown and Grey. On day 6 no one showed up to work after I was told the long list of things that would be accomplished that day. When I called and asked why I could get an answer, just assurances that they would be there tomorrow. Frustrating. The biggest problem was on day 7 when I came home and the grout for the brown tile was an unusual t*** (orange) color instead of the coffee color I had picked out. I drove immediately to Flooring America. They where extremely responsive and we had a "team" meeting the next morning at our house. The installer did put in the wrong color, so the grout was taken up and the correct color put in. What I didn't realize until the project was over was that they used my vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the dust and grout. It never worked again. When my husband called the installer he said he didn't know why they would have used our vacuum. That it. They also drank a case of mountain dews out of our frig. Over all Flooring America is great, just be careful who installs your floors. On a positive note the installer and his crew where very nice, maybe they were have a very bad two weeks. The installer is why I gave B's above not Flooring America, but they are accountable for the folks they send out.
Description of Work: We had most of the flooring in our house replaced. We replaced the carpet on the spiral staircase and upper level. On the main floor we had porcelain tile put in.

Sales assistance to select tile and carpet good. Installation of both poor.
Description of Work: Flooring America provided the following: sales assistance to select tile and carpeting and installation. The new addition to our room is about 550 square feet and we decided to combine a tile walkway down the center of the room with carpet on either side of the tile walkway. Sales support was good; the salesman helped us look through a variety of options. Installation was problematic. The tile installer did not do a good job with the grout. The salesman on two occasions promised to have the installer come to the site to fix the problem. The carpet installers placed one of the carpets on our lawn while they installed the carpeting. The carpet was on the grass for several hours airing out. New carpets have an odor from chemicals and the combination of heat and small temporarily killed the grass on our lawn. The installers could have spread the carpet on our driveway, but instead placed the carpet on our lawn. It took a month for the grass to rejuveniate. I sent an email and talked directly to the salesman who said he passed my complaint on to the person in charge of carpet installation. Never heard from anyone at Flooring America regarding carpet installation

Buy from this company, but be ready to supervise the installation and to look closely at the product you buy! Don't buy that particular laminate without assurances that they will offer a much better product.
Description of Work: Bought Laminate, had it installed and had additional work done replacing older floorboards. Salesman was super, but failed to stress how limited this particular laminate was in wood patterns (way too many repeat designs make the floor look like anything but, real wood). The installers didn't realize this (or so they said) until two of the three rooms were almost completed, and then, I pointed it out to them. I stressed over having to use the remaining pieces(designs) available of duplicate laminate to finish that one room and finally asked them to order two boxes in hopes of getting a variety of designs to work with for the remaining work. They charged me an additional $150 for this. So, the job was on hold for about a week or so. The boxes came in and out of those two boxes (20 pieces) there were maybe three different designs! And of those, I already had plenty of one design(from the previous shipment). I was so disappointed to say the least. The manufacturer of this Laminate is "Majestic Baby grand" and the design is “Pacific Walnut". Unless the company packages their product better (more designs per box), I suggest you don't buy it! The workers were nice enough, but when they had to come back to finish the job, they seemed more focused on production (getting the job done) rather than quality workmanship. When they installed the new and existing laminate in the last room, we (together) had to really work to get the floor looking natural because of all the repeats. They then reinstalled the floorboards in that remaining room (which I had to paint - they only stain. As it turns out, the boards weren't nailed down correctly, so they creaked badly as I walked around the room. I called to complain, but was told the problem was probably a "bad box of Laminate" and they would have to send out various people to investigate the issue (manufacture, installers, master installer, independent evaluator...). I told them whatever it takes. They sent the original installers out and I showed the head man the issue. He shook his head and said he didn't know what to do about it. I asked him what he meant and his reply was the same and then he asked me what I wanted him to do to remedy the problem. He played dumb, but He and I both knew he did a shoddy job the first go round on nailing the sideboards and quarter round down to hold the Laminate down. I instructed him to remove the boards and nail them down better. It took lots of nailing, but we got it to a point that I can live with (not perfect, but...). I really hate it when a job has to be personally supervised by the customer!

My A/C was leaking, and so keep in mind that all of this was paid for by insurance. The salesmen were nice but tended to be vague. When we asked about a wood it was hard to get an exact price per square foot. Glenn from the North Monroe office helped us. There was some in-stock strand bamboo that we truly loved, and when we could fit it into our budget, we put it in. They were able to lower the price to fit our price range. Sullivan Hardwood Flooring did the work, and they did a great job. After they finished we noticed that one piece of threshold was the wrong grain and colors, but when we asked about it, they fixed it immediately.
