I needed to replace a 23-year-old A/C unit, and I was looking for something more energy efficient in the Carrier Infinity line. I knew I would be paying more for the equipment, but the high-efficiency unit would also require new duct work to be run in my attic. The whole project took 3.5 days to complete (removing old equipment and ductwork, new pad for outdoor unit, running new copper, building new ductwork, minor electrical). The crew was efficient and did things the way they should be done, with minimal mess and inconvenience. Though the initial cost was more than I had anticipated because new ductwork was required, I am very pleased with the results. The Barineau crews know what they are doing.

They did an excellent job. A very good operation for the quality. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it. The system works beautifully. The workmanship was excellent and the crew was very professional. I really have no complains.

They could've been more professional. They marked up my wall. They destroyed one of the door frames and just left a mess.

I buy an annual contract. They had redid the whole house with heating and air when I needed it done.

The check up took about 45 minutes. They clean and it check all the outputs and everything.

They did really well. It was reasonable, I didn't get a lot of quotes but it was compatible from the one or two other quotes I did get. They took away my old components and they cleaned up the job site afterwards so it looked like you know they hadn't even been there. The whole process went extremely well, they did have to do some custom fabrication for the closet that the air handler went in so something along those lines.

Everything was done on time and within the quoted budget. Installers were professional, polite, and worked efficiently.

Yesterday I was frustrated and hot and complained about Barineau's products and service. Before the end of the day, they were working to make things right. I have been around a long time and I have never received such customer service and care. They are going above and beyond to make things right. I don't know about the other complaints. They responded to my complaint quickly and effectively (and the fix required a great deal of money and effort on their part). BARINEAU FOLLOWS THROUGH AND DOES A GREAT JOB!

Purchasing a replacement heating and air-conditioning system is one of the larger maintenance expenses for a homeowner. It is costly and will require service throughout the life of the system. We considered the system?s efficiency, quality, cost, and reliability, as well as the service we might expect from the seller. Additionally, we researched extensively and got quotes from multiple companies before deciding to go with Barineau Heating and Air-Conditioning. We were not disappointed. Barineau answered our many questions in great detail and with patience. When it came time for the installation, the crew showed up on time, and they were professional, courteous, and respectful of our home. Given that we replaced our duct system as well as furnaces and AC units, it took approximately one week to complete the work. We were pleased with the quality of the installation, and the quality of the Carrier high efficiency furnaces and AC units. We feel that we made the right decision to go with Barineau, and we would gladly recommend them to others in the future.

Horrible experience! The technician was on his cell phone most of the job trying to straighten out his own personal traffic dispute while on the job. He did very little work vacuumed some water out of a drainage pipe and refilled coolant. His inspection revealed that I would have to replace some copper tubing. The visit cost almost 500 dollars and upon a second opinion with a competitor they fixed the problem for 179 dollars and told me the tubing was fine. My A/C works great now no thanks to Barineau.

I've been using them for several years. They are very professional, they know the system very well and it has always worked very well with them.

The service didn’t cost anything. It is a great company. They are always on time. They are professional. They attempt for the cleanup but my wife and I are a little stingy about cleaning, so we usually go behind them and clean.

I was not impressed with them. Their customer service was poor. I did not buy their product. The quote was high. Halfway through the discussion, he turned me over to an associate which I did not like at all. He came over and did the quote, gave me a written quote and sent me an email in a timely manner. But I thought it was high and the information provided was minimal. I had to do more research about their product. It did not give me the whole story about what he is going to provide and not. I used a lot of time trying to dig in what he was offering me.

I started having trouble with my A/C one year ago, and Barineau has been to my house 6 times in a one year period. The number of phone calls and e-mails is much higher. A very clear pattern emerged - they replace something and my A/C works for a couple days to a month, and then they replace something else, and on it goes. The tech they kept sending me was professional but not polite, and I honestly can't say he is very good at his job. He just replaces stuff without really looking into the problem. Recently one morning, when I was trying to place my SEVENTH service call, they said I had to wait until the next day and there would be a $78 diagnostic fee. I had enough, and I tried to talk with the customer service representative. That was the end of my relationship with this company. She was condescending and made absolutely no effort to help. I thought surely someone would understand that having to get a tech out to my house SIX times (going on seven) in a one year period, and spending close to $1000 was just not acceptable. I wasn't even asking to get any money back, or have someone come to my house immediately. But you would think someone could get there at least on the same day. I ended up calling another company (and I'm glad I did). The tech was much more communicative about what was going on. Turned out one of the parts I bought from Barineau and paid them to install (less than two months ago) failed. I emailed them and said that I had gotten someone else, and said exactly what had happened. I also left my name and number for and quot;Mr. Barineauand quot; (the owner) to call me if he was interested in listening to a customer who had a very unpleasant experience... I got a very rude e-mail back from the customer service rep, and still no phone call from Mr. Barineau. Don't waste your time and money on Barineau. There are much better services available in Tallahassee.

I called a few other A/C providers for same day service on a Thursday when my A/C stopped cooling. By the time the service person came it actually started cooling again. So he did a check of the unit and my wife said he added freon. The charge was $78 which was fine. I went out of town and my son was watching the house when he called to tell me the air went out on Sunday. I called Barineau again and told them that someone came Thursday and I needed him to come out and see what was going on. He came out within a couple hours and said he thought it was something making the compressor kick off. He said he had to put a hose on the compressor to cool it since it was so hot in order to see if he could get it going. After an hour or so he called to let me know it did not fix the problem and I needed a new compressor. He proceeded to tell me that since the unit was 14 years old it made more sense to just replace the whole A/C. He also pointed out that I did not have efficient ductwork which probably created hot spots in the house and it would be wise to re-do the ductwork. So the estimate was about $15,000 and I still had a non-working air conditioner. I then realized I had a home warranty and filed a claim to have the A/C checked before I spent that kind of money. The only drawback to that was that I had to wait two days for them to come out. My warranty guy came and called me, I was still out of town, and told me the unit was overcharged with freon and he had to discharge freon. He said it might have a faulty switch on the compressor and if it did call them and they will come back and fix that at no extra charge. The home warranty company service provider ended up fixing the unit and explained what happened and why it happened. I called the Barineau offices to complain and the manager who I talked to was not polite and explained he would refund my money if they came and got the part they put on even and leave me without one meaning my unit would then stop working. The part was probably $20. After arguing with him a little longer he agreed to refund about half of my money. He said that they try to take care of customers and do things to proper standards and implied that the home warranty companies do shady things to get things to work. All I know is that Barineau wanted to charge me $15,000 for a new unit and my warranty provider sent someone who fixed it in an hour and it has been working ever since. I would never use Barineau again.

Waiting time to get the first of two tune ups was short compared to the other companies. The technician was very professional and respectful.

I am so far very satisfied with them. They have been very responsive and seemed to be very professional.

They were right on time. Neat and efficient. Very pleasant serviceman.

They were about average. I used them because of a recommendation. However I had to have them return 3 times to get it right.

It was like a service plan for a check-up. I like them that they were able to work around our schedule. We didn't have problems that needed repair but it was just a maintenance check-up. It was convenient to our schedule and they came out and took care of what we needed.

Bobby checked a/c, said there was no freon. I had three choices: put in freon, replace unit, or check for leaks (quoting $1200 to do that). Said I needed to replace unit. Company had a special going on with 36 month financing. Did not offer any real repair options. My unit is about 5 or 6 years old. I picked freon and he shoved 5 lbs of the mess into the unit (at least that is what I was billed for) I don't know if my unit hold 5 pounds. Next morning, Saturday, no a/c (Happy Memorial Day weekend to me). Wondered if you over fill the unit with freon, will this destroy the unit because I got the distinct impression he would have liked that. I am single, female, old, with cancer, and all I wanted was this jerk out of my yard. 6/2/14 - update: for this past week I have been ill (coughing), disoriented. I thought I had developed new cancer issues, but my dog was also coughing, lethargic, and disoriented, even more than I was. I was terrified for him. Then I remembered the freon that leaked out overnight and went online to see what freon does in confined spaces. My house is less than 1000 sq feet. We had symptons of freon inhalation. I immediately opened doors, windows, turned on the ceiling fans, every other fan in the house and just let it go for the whole day and part of each day the past two days. I have no idea how to be sure my house is safe. Consider this a warning. This man did not say one word about the dangers of what he was doing. There was no information about freon leaks and no warning. My dog's coughing has abated and his energy has picked up the past 24 hours or so. I also feel better.

The work was done in about one day, with some adjustments done the next day. Its was done well, even though our attic access is small. they installed a new thermostat with more readings. The only problem is the thermostat outdoor temp reading is off during the heat of the day (from about 11am to 3 pm). They have tried to fix it several times but have been unable to do so. No big deal because it read correctly the rest of the time. The sun shining on the unit and being on the south side of the house and so close to the house cause an incorrect reading.
