A Good Locksmith

Description of Work: The gentleman was very kind on the phone as well as in person. I had to call him back several times, as his phone was ringing a LOT and he simply took the next incoming call and asked me to call him back. That was ok, but not the best. |I was wanting to get an estimate before he began the work. He came to the house ready to go with all the materials he needed. He installed 4 new knoblocks and three new deadbolts and keyed them all to one key. Terrific! |I'd just had an estimate of $180 to do the work, but would have had to wait a few days. Since I'm trying Very Hard to do 87 things at once, I was just listening to hear an estimate from him as close to $180 as I could hope for. He was adding things up in his head while I hung out to see what he came up with, and as soon as I heard "$185", I told him to go for it, and I left (this is a vacant rental house) to go attend to the next thing on my mile-long list. |About 30 minutes later he called me and said, basically, "I added that up wrong and it's $250." I was disappointed-not devastated, just disappointed, and I legitimized it in my head by telling myself that it was worth it to have all the work done and get it off my list, cuz it's a long list. I was also disappointed to see that he didn't use all of the hardware that came with each new lock-like the part that gets screwed into the threshold, but maybe it's commonly done. I honestly don't know. And the locks don't fit perfectly in the holes where the previous ones were! there's a little crescent of space, which I pointed out to him at the same time that I showed him that the front door knob was not tight. He told me it's nothing to worry about, but I'll be having someone shore up that work. It's the FRONT DOOR! You want that to convey confidence! |I'm grateful to have new locks. I'm not 100% happy, tho, and next time I'll ask for a written estimate. I paid extra by being in a big hurry and that's never a great way to operate, for me, as "the devil's in the details."

Description of Work: The locksmith made a house call and re-keyed 21 locks. He also repaired the front door lock, which was frozen up.
