Description of Work: They replaced a residential 40-gal hot water heater. I called this company since they installed the original one in this house 13 yrs ago. Their process took a week to order one and get it installed. Their installer Dave was responsive - came out on a Friday to do diagnostics, took what he said was a standard 1/2 down deposit ($470). He was professional and knowledgeable. The person who answered the company phone that day was filling in for the female who normally answers the phone but was away for the holiday weekend. The guy assured us our tech would call us ahead before coming but we never got a call. The tech just came -- and we were just thankful that we happened to be home. Same thing happened again when he returned the following week to install the new hot water heater. Glad again that we happened to be home. However the Tech's personal communication skills when he was here on the job and his technical expertise were outstanding. He did a fantastic job. The reason for the lower ratings is due to the poor response and lack of professionalism of the office receptionist (person who does the ordering and handles the money end). She was not customer oriented at all. We had the tech document on our initial work order that our total was subject to appropriate adjustment for a 10% discount which was publicized on the company's internet website, and the company's advertised 20% senior discount on Angies List since we are members. When it came to dealing with her, she ignored the 20 % discount. She could care less in her flat response over the phone altho the offer is publicized on Angies List and is therefore misleading. The tech had advised us that he doesn't set the rates, and the one person who does that (Stephanie I think) was out of town that day for the holiday weekend. When she finally called us back after the long weekend, we had already given a check as a deposit toward the water heater. I had to ask her twice to get any response out of her at all to clarify what was the bill would be in light of the advertised discounts. When I wanted to go over the discounts with her, she flatly responded that 'nope they dont do that' (the 20% discount). Period. She apparently had no intention of addressing anything about that and the customer just has to pay what amount she says. Period. She desperately needs some training in customer service and would benefit from picking up some finer communication skills in dealing with people. She demonstrated no professionalism working with us. She could have apologized, saying that maybe the 20% was a mistake and she will follow up Angies List to remove the bogus discount, etc., etc. Frankly, if that is a misrepresentation of a discount by the company on Angies List that is really NOT available she could care less. And that is dead wrong. So bottom line is the tech did fine work but the company was Very disappointing on the administrative end. If I have a problem in the future with this unit while its under warranty, I will use this company. But I will name request the tech and hope i don't have to deal with such a shortfall in people skills and lack of professionalism demonstrated by the front office person.
