01/17/17 I am writing this review to protect others from what happened to me. It was the worst financial disaster of my life and based on my experience with the abandoning GC and Peace River, I would advise that you put on your best running shoes and run! Based on my experience, Peace River is not a company you can trust and they do not carry Builder's Risk Insurance to cover any damages. My abandoning contractor hired the worst subs you could possibly find with no integrity, no work ethics, horrible workmanship, shorted me on structural materials, installed cheaper and wrong materials, gave me less of a structure than my structural plans, failed to follow plans and minimum code requirements and all abandoned my project while being overpaid. Peace River built a wall with no footing, they poured concrete over a dirty floor causing a failure to bond, they gave me an 8" bond beam instead of a 16" bond beam, they put in headers where my plans call for no header, they gave me red steel poles with the words Peace River in black marker instead of white aluminum poles, they failed to raise the roof in areas creating a sandwiched affect, they knowingly installed the wrong trusses, they built site walls not tied to the footing, they installed footings above or at grade, they failed to to install rebar to the footing around my entire house so my house was like a deck of cards and they damaged my curb, sidewalk, driveway and walkways. They stuffed empty grout bags inside my block walls in the house and left the cells hollow when it was supposed to poured with solid concrete, they build block where my plans called for solid concrete and all of this work. It has taken me over two years to take control of my property and I should be able to move in before the 3rd year is over. Based on Peace River's address, it doesn't look like a real place of business. There were notes in google that it is a UPS location, but not certain. Prior to hiring a new structural subcontractor, I contacted Peace River directly to request they repair their not per plan, not to code, bad workmanship, unstable workmanship, and incomplete work, but Evan told me, no, unless I paid him more money. I hired a stellar new structural subcontractor that uncovered all of GC's and Peace River's unscrupulous work and prepared a report of all of the work not per plan that meets a minimum code requirement and not per plan work that does not meet a minimum code requirement, my engineer also wrote a report confirming the not to code work and had to prepare details to repair all of the bad work which resulted in a devalued structural property. The Chief Building Official had to get involved because of the scope of damage caused be the abandoning GC and Peace River and their efforts to hide what they did on my project while telling me they only build per plan. I have filed complaints with the Licensing Board and I have filed a lawsuit. I would never recommend Peace River or any of the original GC's subs to anyone. I was left with a flawed property, way over budget, delays, losses, no one carried proper insurance for bad workmanship, damages, etc and it will be almost 3 years later before I can get in this house and paying for two places for almost 3 years as well as paying 3 times for everything and not getting anything per plan. I would absolutely recommend Brent Copeland of Copeland Construction if you are seeking an outstanding structural GC who can handle any size project. Brent is honorable, his workmanship is outstanding and he and his in house employees can be trusted to get your job on time, in budget and the work will be better than you excepted. If it were not for Brent, I would have never been able to move my project forward or uncovered what Peace River and the abandoning GC did to me.
Description of Work: Structural work for a remodel, but Evan Taudian of Peace River and the abandoning GC practically leveled my house without permission, proper plans or a proper permit.
