+ 7 moreBad. The guy is a liar and has no morals. He does not work. Smokes in your home. Takes 6 weeks to hang 20 sheets of drywall. Did illegal electrical and plumbing work without the licenses. Lied to the county. And did not live up to the terms of the agreement. He used several excuses as to why he was not working on my home. DONT BELIEVE A WORD HE SAYS! YOU HAVE BEEN WORNED! Stay away. For a reliable contractor use the summit building association who provides a list of vetted established contractors. Most good contractors up here get business via word of month.
Description of Work: Doug is a scumbag and if you hire him you will very much regret it. I am currently working on a lawsuit against him. This guys life has fallen apart and I was unlucky enough to get involved with him for my project. I hired Doug to to complete a full remodel and put a small addition onto my home. I had worked with him a few years ago and it went fine, but not this time. He required half up front. The total project was to cost just under 100k. It took him several weeks to put together the bid. We initially wanted to be around 80k but he said with the work that was needed and with a safety net he came out too 100k. We were stupid enough to give him half......... once we provided him funds he was not very responsive. No work started for several weeks. Finally he began to work on the home, however his idea of a work day is arrive around 11:30am and leave by 4pm... maybe 1-3 days a week.. he purchased the cheapest items from Lowe’s, and did not install hardly anything correctly. He did illegal electrical and plumbing work without a license. The addition and remodel were supposed to be going at the same time. Nothing was ever done on the addition.... turned out that he was actually not licensed with the county. AS A HEADS UP, THE COUNTY NOW HAS THIS GUY ON THEIR LIST. THREW THIS PROCESS I HAVE GOTTEN TO KNOW ALL THE COUNTY INSPECTORS. THEY ALL HATE DOUG AND HELPED ME FINISH MY PROJECT BECAUSE THEY FELT BAD FOR HOW POORLY DOUG TREATED US............long story short. The next progress payment was not to be til there was drywall in our addition. However he tried to press me for it after being 2 Months behind schedule and nothing even started with the addition. Since getting rid of him in November we have had to go back and fix several things including my shower drain freezing (which I fixed by insulating the pipe rather then leaving it exposed to the elements). Mold on my floors due to not property replacing a sliding glass door resulting in leaking under the door, rewire the whole home because he told me he had his electrician do it to code... which is not the case. He disconnected my house from the main electrical service line, leaving a live 150amp power line exposed for months.

Description of Work: In Vail Valley Longview Construction did a total redo of my condo. The job was well over $200,000 in total. One of the best contractors I ever worked with. The owner is great to work with and is very reliable. Work quality is excellent. Reasonable and fair the contractor came in at budget.

+ -1 moreWe would recommend you do not use Longview Construction if any part of your project includes tiling. We hired another contractor to tear out the work done by Longview Construction and do it over, because their work to remodel a shower stall was so unacceptable. Tiles on the walls were not flat, not square, uneven grout widths, chipped edges, and corners filled with caulk. The shower floor was not properly pitched for appropriate drainage and the pan was not deep enough. This was the second try after doing a dismal job the first time when they used tiles different from what we’d chosen. In addition, the work was not done per the promised schedule, either time. We would not want anyone else to go through the “contractor h***” we experienced. None of the money, half of the contracted price ($3,5000), was refunded.

+ 2 moreEpic. After getting a few bids we decided to go with Doug and long view to replace our rotted sagging deck and ledger board with a new deck. He went over a few options and explained the cost for each. Knocked it all out in 1 day. Great price and great work. When you look at the deck you know it was done right. No complaints about the process or results. Will be working with Longview again on some other projects after seeing how well the results were on the deck.

Description of Work: Doug and his team oversaw full renovation at our house in Vail. Longview went above and beyond to deliver service and get all projects done. Doug is fair with his pricing and we would recommend using him again.

+ 0 moreWell, the pipes burst and there was a terrible mess. They got the leak fixed immediately and tore evything out. I was a bit surprised by the full price of the job, but it was a lot of owrk and they went above and beyond for us. I will definately be using them in the future for the kitchen and deck re-do's if my husband will let me!

Added flashing around windows. Added mortor where new siding meets stone wall. Power-washed deck. Touched up paint on weathered areas of cedar siding.

+ 5 moreIt was great from the begining. His estimate was on time and although it wasn't the cheapest it was by far the best as far as concept goes. Doug met with us on several occasions and never charged a dime for any of the visits which was refreshing and he was never pushy. Just a great experience over-all and I have recommended him and his comany to several of my friends which says a lot.
Description of Work: We had them install a deck, hot-tub, remodel the kitchen and two of our bathrooms. We choose to buy the materials and save some money that way, but the sub-contractors he brought in were all great and billed me directly. He told me that way we save money as well since he didn't up-charge on any of it. They were extremely easy to wrok with and helped us save money while getting the look that we wanted.
