Affordable Floor Coverings of Stuart

Description of Work: We purchased a teak floor from a lumber company that recommended two installers, both were interviewed. We choose to use Martin Godell, DBA Precision Laminate and Wood Flooring Inc. because he was licensed by Martin County. The installation was done February-March 2007. The following problems occurred: 1) Mr. Godell used subcontractors with little supervision. 2) The subcontractors used a few defective boards that had to be replaced before final payment. This took nearly a month. 3) By May 2007 the floor was buckling up in multiple places. 4) Mr. Godell kept promising to inspect and repair the floor but never showed for any appointments, had lots of excuses and always wanted to reschedule for another week. 5) In December 2007 and January 2007 we had multiple conversations with the lumber company and they also contacted Mr. Godell. 6) Mr. Godell refused a registered letter from us of formal notification. 7) Other flooring contractors who looked at the floor but would not touch it as they claimed it was guaranteed by Mr. Godell for one year and he must fix it. 8) One contractor stated the installation was improper because he measured the plywood sub floor moisture content of 16%. His remedy would be to remove the entire floor and replace! 9) We contacted the county building department for help and they sent a letter to Mr. Godell. 10) Mr. Godell has never inspected or addressed the problem and refuses to do so. When he telephoned at the request of the lumber company he was told the floor had been installed too tightly and needed to be cut under the moldings. He said it wasn't and hung up the telephone. 11) As of April 2008 Mr. Godell is no longer on the lumber company s recommended installer list. 12) Please share this experience with other potential customers in the greater area. We do not wish for others to suffer out experience.
