Overcharged, price-gouging
Description of Work: 1. C&C arrived for lockout at 12:45. 2. Actual lockout solution took almost no time because the patio slider was easy to jimmy and open. 3. Talk was all there was for a long time, not labor. A second person (Scott) did the installation of Cal-Locks for sliders we agreed on, while Claudette talked constantly, using aggressive sales tactics. Never disclosed total cost of service. 4. Total of 5 doors only were rekeyed alike. Charge is for 9 doors! Total job ended at 15:45. 5. 1 hour of labor was charged for office door deadbolt! Covering from exact time of arrival to time of departure, grossly inflated and exaggerated charge of 3 hours.

Response from C&C Lock and Safe, Inc.
10/24/2016 We arrived at approximately at [Member Information Removed] Circle, Hobe Sound FL [Member Information Removed]. And was meet by owner [Member Name Removed] and description of work was client was locked out of her residence. Claudette which her title is Security Specialist for the last 27 years in the locksmith industry which means I advise clients the weakest points in there house that can be compromised by burglars/thieves. I asked client do you have sliders in your house, and she replied yes. I asked can you show me where and client lead me to slider as my colleague was at front door trying to pick open door lock. As me and the client was at the slider I simply pulled out my screw driver and popped open the slider which took about 5 seconds and we were in the house. Client was shocked as to how fast it took to get into house with a screw driver. We walked to front door and opened it so I could let my colleague know we were in the house via the slider. At that point the client asked what can be done to secure the sliders better and we replied there is a new lock for sliders called Cal-Locks which is like a jaw that grabs the frame from top and bottom so you can not jimmy the lock in any way which would remedy that issue. The client proceeded to ask me how much for the Cal-Locks and installation and I told her it was $ 45.00 for each Cal-Lock and labor to install. While Scott installed the Cal-Locks the client and Claudette proceeded to walk around the house and she had an assortment of all different brands of hardware which she didn't like because she wanted all locks to be one key to open all locks. The best locks the client had was Schlage on one door. Her husband then arrived and she expressed how quickly we unlocked the house via the slider with just a simple screw driver in 5 seconds. He showed concerned as she replied we are taking care of that problem by installing these Cal-Locks. He replied great and I need to show you my office which is in the garage and door had a bathroom lock on it, which is called a privacy lock that is not meant for the purpose how he wanted to secure his office. Which I explained to him to properly secure his office you would require an entry door knob and would have to fresh bore a hole for a heavy duty deadbolt. Claudette explained that his wife would like all locks to be keyed alike so all locks work on one key. And he replied yes that is a great idea, so clients proceeded to show Claudette the other doors that needed to be replaced in order to have all locks keyed to one key. We explained the best brand that you had currently on one door was Schlage which is a very good brand of lock which wasn't brand new but we were able to work with it. I explained to do what they were trying to accomplish they would need all new hardware and on the same keyway as Schlage so all locks can be keyed alike to work on one key as they both requested. We checked our stock to see if we had all locks that was needed to complete the job as they requested. Scott was completed with installing the Cal-Locks on the sliders and proceeded to key all new hardware to one key as requested by clients. After removing all the old hardware that was not compatible and worn out badly we then proceeded to install, retrofit and fresh bore to be able to install correctly, securely and properly. We even went over and above by tightening hinges, thresholds and replaced stripped out screws and rusted screws with new screws which we did not charge for because we are all about customer service and doing the best job like we have for the last 27 years of experience. We were there for almost 4 hours but only charged for 3 hours. Because we always go over and above for our clients and there safety. We tried to give them a break on what ever we could give because we always want happy and satisfied clients. We even gave them extra keys and did not charge for them. When really all we have to do is give them 2 keys for free that comes with the job and any additional keys are extra cost of $ 2.99 each there after. Claudette and Scott did a walk thru with the clients to make sure they were satisfied and pointed out the extras that we did for them at no extra charge because that's the type of kind, generous and efficient. They both thanked us and complimented us on such a great job and they expressed they can now rest easy that they are safer and there home is secured. Claudette and Scott went to there company van and proceeded to write up the invoice. We both went back into the clients house and Claudette told the clients that this entire job is a write off on there taxes as home improvement and also suggested that they check with there homeowners insurance that because they have new and improved hardware they could possibly qualify for a discount. They both did not know about those incentives if Claudette did not let them know which again really is not for me to tell them that to save them money. Claudette proceeded to go over the invoice from the service call/ trip charge to lock-out and all listed above. The only price they asked for was for the Cal-Locks. As Claudette was going over the invoice they expressed that was a little more than what they were looking to spend but they did not show any anger or dispute in paying for the job. The client joked about writing a check for the job (invoice) amount that it would bounce and they paid with a credit card. We ran the credit card for the amount due and had them sign the proper paperwork such as the job invoice (print and sign) and the credit card slip paying for the entire job. A few days later we received a letter from the Better Business Bureau and we received a call from [Member Name Removed] She was very rude and angry and threatened us with calling BBB, the District Attorney, her bank to dispute the charge and tell everyone she know that we are bad people and are con-artist that rip off people. She told Claudette she was only going to pay $ 600.00 dollars and not a penny more for the job. Claudette responded no that you don't make up your own prices and replied to the client that what she was saying about us and the company was slander and I can press charges. Claudette also replied to the client over the phone that if she would have called first we have a local saver coupon for 10% off the entire bill for senior citizens and military. But we never got to that point because of the way she went about it that offer was definitely off the table. I politely said have a nice day and hung up the phone. The same day we got a call from Angies List from a representative and her name was Jennifer and advised Claudette that this person above mentioned had wrote a very nasty review about our company. Jennifer advised us to respond to the nasty review that the client wrote. Claudette replied to Jennifer that the above mentioned was threatening me and the company about what she was going to do. I replied to Jennifer that I have never been threatened like that or have had any clients write anything but great 5 gold star reviews about the great services we provide. We responded to Angies List review and are disputing everything she claims. Because they are all lies and I'm not going to lower myself down to her standards to make her feel better. After responding to Angies List and the BBB about her false allegations soon after we got a call from her bank and without knowing or the bank representative did not disclose that he was on a 3 way conference call with the client staying quiet while the bank representative asked questions about the charges and trying to dispute and hear my side. He thought he hung up with me and instead the client hung up on him. I have never ran across such a rude individual before in the whole 27 years of doing business in this industry.
