Initially I had hired Peace Lady Painting to paint the walls of my master bathroom. I picked up the paint myself, which really wasn't necessary as she will buy the paint if you would like. Anyhow, to begin with she had to remove the towel racks and outlet covers. I also told her that I wanted to change the light fixture in the bathroom - it was really ugly. So, she asked me if I would like her to take care of that and I agreed whole heartedly. After she removed the light fixture, she quickly discovered that there was a code violation - when the builder built the condo, he simply cut a hole in the wall to pass the electrical wires through and did not put the wires inside an electric box, so she offered to go to the hardware store to purchase a box for it, installed the box and the light. As you can see from the photo, she did a beautiful job. The hole for the electric wires was narrow and long, so she had to improvise in order to make the electric box stable. I am extremely happy with the work that was done and although I offered to pay her for the additional work, she kindly said no. She is very professional, goes above and beyond and is well worth the price. Actually, I had gotten another estimate and that other estimate was $200 more than Peace Lady Painting. Way to go, Peace Lady.

Very well. Victoria is reliable, professional, stands by her work. Checks to see that client is pleased with her work. Goes the extra mile to accommodate wishes of the client. I would hire her in an instant for any further work I might have. She is personable, approachable, a pleasure to have around. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Peace Lady did a fantastic job and I will try to attach some photos before and after so that you can see the work that she did. Really OUTSTANDING!!! Nancy
Description of Work: Peace Lady did a fantastic job painting the ceilings and walls of my kitchen. I had the kitchen painted last year by another painter and that painter did a very poor job. Peace Lady repainted the ceiling and kitchen walls and did an outstanding job. I will have her come back in a few months to redo the rest of the rooms that the previous painter (NOT Peace Lady) did last year.

I responded to your Angieslist message on 3/24/18 and followed up with a detailed phone message as my return call went into your voicemail. Your message came 3/8/18 while I was away on a much deserved vacation, a cruise with no internet, (maybe you knew that?) in the month of March. You say here it had been over a week and No response from me. I count 6 days between initial inquiry into my painting services and your "F"...6 days sir. I have been in business 18 years and NEVER have I not returned emails in a timely fashion. Also, I don't have a website... And why is your address my mailing address????? Thankyou again for contacting and considering Peacelady Painting. Peace2u

Victoria was very prompt, professional and did a marvelous job. In fact, the garage door was left open while she painted and two people from our short street stopped to admire the work and asked for her business card. The estimate was reasonable and she did a marvelous job. You get what you pay for. Previously I had painting done inside the condo and I asked her to please purchase additional paint for me so that I can paint where the interior painters had "overlooked" some trim work. She also does interior painting. She was highly recommended by one of my neighbors. I highly recommend her and I will hire her again when I need more work to be done.
Description of Work: Painting of the interior garage walls, patching one wall with several holes in it, installation of window casing, painting the floor of the garage, steps leading from the garage into the condo and painting 13 very wide stairs leading from the condo into the basement.

It went very well! Victoria completed the work while we were away on vacation. She met with us two times-once to walk around and look at things in order to provide an estimate, and again, prior to our departure, so we could be sure we were all on the same page and to finalize paint colors. She did a fantastic job! The house looks great and she left it neat as a pin. Not only that---she voluntarily watered all my plants and outside pots while we were away -. She's the BEST!! Victoria is someone I would highly recommend. She's a great painter, truly cares about the quality of her work, very accommodating and a pleasure to work with!

There was a miscommunication from the start. Victoria's recollection of the conversation we had when we discussed the job is very different from my recollection. She bid on about 1/2 of what I thought we had agreed to. Her "contract" is an email with a photograph of the job. Once she pointed out the photograph she had sent in the email, I couldn't argue with her, so I agreed to continue. At this point, the conversation was civil, although I was upset about the misunderstanding, and I let her know, very politely. When she first arrived to paint, I wasn't home, and my wife went outside to make sure we were all clear on what Victoria would be doing. My wife politely asked her to explain things to her. Victoria turned to her helper and said, "Oh boy, here we go. Rude and unprofessional. Later that day, she and her assistant were having a loud conversation about personal issues that we did not want to hear. Since they were working right behind where my wife sit and work, we could hear everything, and we asked them politely to speak more quietly and change the subject, which they did. On the last day, I went outside to inspect the work. There was one panel she had not painted, so I asked about it. She said she had not bid on it, which upset me, so I told her I would not discuss it further and walked away. All she wanted to do was repeat the conversation we had the first day. I looked at the picture in her "email contract" and the unpainted panel is in the picture of the proposed work. Since she used that on the first day as "proof" of her bid, I figured she couldn't back out of it. She then insisted she had clarified with me twice what the job was and that panel was not included. By this time, we were speaking angrily to each other, and she got in my face and said her mind is a trap and she remembers everything. I don't claim my mind is a trap, but I have a good memory, and many of the things she said were far different from what I remembered. She angrily agreed to take $200 off the price, which I accepted, even though the unpainted panel was worth a lot more than that. I paid her, and she finished up, muttering to herself unpleasant things I couldn't completely hear. Bottom line: Victoria seems to do good work, but I don't recommend her because of her unprofessional attitude and responses. She feels everything she says is right, and everything I say is wrong: not the way to treat customers.

Wow- just wow. Another customer who claims miscommunication and tried to play me for a fool. He wanted me to include an entire different side of house to original quote. He was having repair work done on said side and claimed he would have the person doing the repair work paint as well. I did not supply a quote for the side with repair. He promptly walked me to THAT side the moment of my arrival to begin work and launched into what all he expected. I quickly showed him the very pic he sent to me from the beginning, a picture we referenced together at time of quote showing and a picture I knew I would need to CMA- I suspected this very scenario. I showed next day to begin work and was immediately confronted by his wife. She told me to stop what I was doing as she was under the impression I was painting the wrong side ( I was just beginning to lay drops on side quoted.) I did tell my help that we might need to pack up and leave job. I sensed real danger, animosity and hate. She returned and smuggly said "nevermind-carry on". About an hour in we were confronted again by him saying he could hear every word we were saying as their windows were open. My worker was talking about corrupt people and the nasty things they do. He asked that we don't talk and thanked us. I actually worked 10 hours over quoted, gave this customer FREE LABOR. I would post before and afters but Angieslist doesn't allow. I find it incredibly disheartening that this individual gave me an F for professionalism and my work a D....really? Shameful. I took $200 off end invoice JUST to be done with this very dishonest and mean spirited individual. He also said NOT to paint said panel as he considered it to be part of the other side of house. I at that time said I would paint bulkhead at least. And YES, I do have a mind like a trap, I write VERY good notes which I was more than happy to share with him. I have always used email quotes/contracts. His booking was his agreement to email contract. I will now be tape recording most quote showings thanks to this customer. I knew he would place a bad review, I knew I was working for someone with shall we say, hidden agendas. So sad to see these kinds of people taking swings at an "A " rated SUPER SERVICE AWARD WINNING company...just sad. But not surprising considering the world we live today. Peace2u all

Great service. The Peacelady was prompt, efficient and handled herself in a very professional manner. She worked during very hot weather without air conditioning! Did excellent work! Friendly and cooperative, the Peacelady fulfilled all of our requests and even did a few extras (like cleaning our ceiling fan that we could not reach). Would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a painter in the Saco-Biddeford area and beyond. Thanks, Peacelady!

This is the 5th time that we have hired Victoria to work on our home. She has painted the exterior of the house, the popcorn ceilings throughout the house, the entire interior first floor trim and doors (from 70's "oak" stain to current white) and she has painted the dining/kitchen area. Victoria worked with us as I changed my mind on paint colors, and she made suggestions that helped save us money on extra gallons of paint. Since Victoria had done work for us on four different occasions we were very comfortable communicating via e-mail. She sent us an invoice from "Peace Lady Painting" listing cost of labor, plus paint. This quote was honored. We did move a lot of heavier bookcases/bureaus etc, we also removed wall decor as well as the extras so that she could simply paint. Since Victoria knew that we would be away while the work was being done, she stopped by the house on the Friday before she was supposed to start. She brought her tarps, drop cloths, paint and ladders etc. and spoke with us to be certain that she was clear on everything that we wanted. Victoria repaired nail holes (craters, in some places) and sanded and primed. Her painting left no drip marks, no spatters and was beautifully done. When we came home from our trip our house was finished. There was no paint clean up that we had to do and Victoria had put some of the bigger pieces of furniture back in place. She also "staged" a few of my plants and knick knacks, which was fun to see. Victoria went above and beyond the contract as she touched up some water stains on the high ceiling of the entry way and "dings" on the wood work in the other rooms that she had worked on. That was a very pleasant surprise. We have been very pleased with all of the work that Victoria has done for us and I am certain that we will again be giving her a call in the near future.
Description of Work: We hired Victoria to paint an entry way with very high ceilings as well as three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room.

Victoria quoted and provided a contract to prep, patch, sand and paint all interior trim and doors for $2,090.00. When we agreed to the amount and were going to provide a deposit, she changed the amount to $3,090.00. We were disappointed but reluctantly agreed to move forward as she said it was a typing error. The day she was supposed to start (November 9), she texted me saying she needed a day to "process" the Presidential election results, she was too upset to work. I was surprised and thought it was unprofessional but said it was fine. What else was I going to say? I, too, was unhappy with Trump winning BUT would never call an employer to say I couldn't come to work because I was unhappy with an election result. The next day, when she arrived around 10:20am, she was unprepared and needed to go purchase paint - I had already told her prior to start we wanted Sherwin Williams "Alabaster", she said she used Benjamin Moore & would have it color matched. Before she left, we discussed the room she was to start in and I asked if she needed me to remove items from the closet (I didn't know if she would have time to get to the closet that day) and that was when she said she wasn't painting the interior closet trim/baseboards - it wasn't what she agreed to. I asked for clarification and stood in disbelief wondering how she thought she was only going to paint the outside closet trim but when you opened the door, it would show the trim/baseboard untouched/unpainted. This led her being very aggressive and hostile about how that wasn't in her "notes". She was adamant she didn't have it in her handwritten notes and I explained I had no idea what she did or didn't write down on a piece of paper and that I had only the contract which we agreed to go by. I referred her to the contract she sent me where it WAS included in writing. She got out her phone & looked for the contract she sent me, read it and became very condescending and angrily said she would "just eat it!" and started to leave. I explained that I wasn't happy with the fact that the job went up from $2,090 to $3,090 and now she wanted another $250 to do what we expected to have been done when we asked her for her bid. After listening to a 40 minute rant about what she had in her "notes", I tried to diffuse the situation by agreeing to pay for the additional 7-10 hours she felt it would be necessary to do the closets. Before the job (documented in texts) and when she was here, we specifically had asked if we should take the doors off because the hinges and knobs were brand new oil rubbed bronze and we did not want ANY paint on them. She told me she didn't paint with the doors off and to "trust her to do her job". I was too nervous about the knobs ($30 each set) so I removed all but one (see picture of the one we left to our garage) while she was here and she gave an attitude like I was being a worry wart and that I was being over the top by taking them off. Day 2 of the job - she was supposed to be here between 9-9:30. At 9:17, she texted she was having computer issues and would be along shortly. She showed up at 11:00 and mentioned how she got chatting with her neighbor. My daughter and I went out to volunteer at the Kennebunk Animal Shelter and then to drop off a box full of goodies for the Operation Christmas Shoebox at a local church. When we came back about 4pm it looked like Victoria had finished the bathroom and was working on the office. I was excited about putting washing everything and putting the bathroom back together and asked if she was done with the bathroom. She said she was. As I walked through, I noticed several things I was unhappy with. There were drip marks on the doors she tried to blame on original paint job (the doors are FACTORY FINISHED SPRAY with ZERO drip marks on ANY factory doors in our house!). There were trim paint splatters on the WALLS in many areas (so now WE had to paint the walls of both rooms she worked in), paint flecks on the linoleum and hardwood floors, paint ALL OVER THE NEW HINGES and the one doorknob left in place, and barely any patch work before she painted. The attached picture of the baseboard trim with the door stopper is an example of the trim work. I pointed out the hinges and she acted like I was exaggerating about the white paint on them. She kept saying "where, where?" She took her metal scraper and aggressively (clearly annoyed) started scraping the paint off the hinges. I asked her to stop because she was about to take off the oil rubbed bronze finish along with the paint. As I walked through the bathroom she said she had finished, I asked if she was going to "touch up" various areas and she asked "where?" I pointed out several trim drips & she took the metal scraper and aggressively picked off different areas I pointed out (see window photo). At this point, she was very defensive, agitated and annoyed that I was picking out areas of concern that should have been addressed and she didn't like it. At this point she was yelling and I was sick to my stomach, I told her I didn't think this was going to work out. I felt that our level of expectations was just too far apart. Victoria was not happy that she was being let go from her job and made it clear. She said that she had 12 hours on the job and would send my refund. I was calm the entire process and actually relieved that I stood my ground after dealing with such an aggressive personality. When Victoria left, my 12 year old daughter who had been downstairs the whole time, came up stairs crying saying she had been scared and didn't know what she was supposed to have done. The whole experience left us both shaken. After a week and no refund check, I sent Victoria a Text Message asking if she mailed it. She replied: No and that she would send a refund of $300 in 30 days. I responded it should be about $668 which is $1,200 deposit - $456 ($38/hr x 12hrs) - $76 (2 cans of paint) = $668 and could she send me an invoice on how she got to $300. She replied: I could, but I won't be bullied by you another minute!". I have attempted to reach her again by Text Messages and by email. At this point, I believe she has blocked me. I have tried to let her know that she could have 30 days to pay us the $668 as long as she committed in writing that she would because she indicated she already spent the money. A week later, I received a check from her for $328. She said she was keeping $300 as a 10% "cancellation" fee she charges all customers. I texted her saying that was unacceptable. I said we didn't cancel the job, she was fired for poor quality workmanship and attitude. Furthermore, her contract says nothing about a "cancellation fee". She made this up to try to use it as an excuse to keep our money. I attempted BBB before small claims court in hopes we could resolve this before it came to that. However, judging from Victoria's response to the complaint I filed, I see that I am not dealing with a person who is mentally stable. She lied about our interactions (I have text messages & emails to confirm what I have said, my daughter as witness to her aggressiveness and anger, plenty of photos to serve as proof of the lack of quality of work) and lied about pretty much everything she wrote. Undoubtedly, Victoria will dispute and lie in her response to this and I will be unable to dispute her lies as I don't believe I can respond further here. The attached pictures should speak for themselves. In her response to my BBB complaint, she claims "I believe Caren Smith hired me to fire me. I believe she ( & her husband ) is a Trump supporter and are out to sabatage my business". She and I have had a few discussions about Trump and she knows FULL well my disdain for him and how upset I was with this election. She knows I did NOT vote for Trump so I have no idea where this is coming from. I did not hire her to fire her - that is a ridiculous statement. All we want is the refund we are due. She also said "There were 2 other projects started in her home that she said contractor's were not "doing it right" and she had to let them go." I have NEVER fired ANYONE from a job until now, NOR filed a complaint, NOR given negative feedback on any businesses. At this point, I am having to file a complaint with Small Claims Court to see if I can get the remaining deposit balance of $668 (we have not cashed the $328 check). This whole process makes us sick to our stomachs. We feel this is the only thing we can do to get our refund back and to help prevent others from having to go through our experience. We are very saddened that we have been forced to take this approach , especially over the holidays just because someone is being spiteful and vindictive. Photos: Drip marks on doors (there weren't drip marks BEFORE, they were factory finished sprayed with no drips), paint on NEW hinges & door latch she attempted to scrape with metal scraper & soft sanding block, paint all along left side of window, paint on door knob (I didn't remove this knob because it went out to garage & I was leaving & she didn't want me to remove knobs - thankfully, I removed all others before she started), woodwork that she did NOT patch before painting, baseboard that was finished poorly, etc. There are more photos but there is only a 10 photo limit.

Please ignore this individual as I firmly believe this entire job was a bait n switch designed to discredit me, my character and ultimately my business. I will not even defend myself to her hateful and packed full of blatant lies review. I have tried to set my review filter alphabetically, NOT chronologically. But it's worth noting the timing of this review anyway. I do hope anyone who even took the time to read her quite lengthy tale will please note, I am a long standing A rated Painting Contractor, who also received the 2016 Angieslist SUPER SERVICE AWARD. This is the fourth time that we have hired the Peacelady. Victoria arrived promptly at time that she quoted. She brought all tools, drop cloths needed. The work was difficult as we wanted to cover a brick red with a buttery yellow. She made sure that she bought the appropriate primer and she was not satisfied until she was certain that the red would not bleed through. The yellow was applied with precision and very neatly, as well. The job is beautiful. Her lines are precise, no drips or streaks. The stove and refrigerator were put back neatly and Victoria checked and rechecked to be certain that everything was cleaned up. We are very pleased with the "Peacelady's"neatness, precision, and attention to detail and we are thrilled with the new look of our dining room/kitchen. We plan to hire her again after the holidays for further painting in the house.

Victoria is a professional in all aspects of her business. We were fortunate to find her on Angie's list and it was a home run from the get go. I received a call back the same day I left her a message. She came to look at the job right away and answer all our questions. We had a challenging situation with two porches that had a lot of old, very stuck and some peeling paint. It seemed the porches would never dry out in order to paint them. Victoria assured us that they would in fact dry and gave us a very reasonable time line for our project. She was prompt, did a excellent job, cleaned the job site and made sure we were satisfied. I will definitely use Peacelady painting for all painting jobs in the future. Signed...Extremely satisfied!
Description of Work: Victoria painted two entry porches and did some interior painting on or basement stairs, walls, and ceiling.

My home is about 1100 square footage, 2 levels, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Peacelady painted all the ceilings, walls, trim, doors, windows…everything interior had been painted. Peacelady started downstairs and worked her way to the bedrooms and bath upstairs. Peacelady always maintained contact with me as the project moved along. I felt comfortable asking her questions and seeking her out for suggestions. My belongings were always protected and I felt safe having her in my home. I look forward to working with this professional on my upcoming electrical project. Peacelady will be installing new kitchen lights, bathroom light, hallway and stairwell lights, replacing all of my outlets and plates as well as moving one of the outlets to another wall.
Description of Work: I’m a native Mainer but new to OOB and purchased my condo last October. Needless to say, the whole interior required painting. I met with several painters but felt Peacelady would be a perfect match for my home. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this painter. Victoria is professional, a very hard worker and pays attention to details. She transformed my dated interior condo by providing a beautiful, modern and fresh look to my home. I could not be happier! She always cleaned up after herself, assisted me with color choices, helped me move furniture when needed and was overall a great person throughout the project. I actually need some electrical updates and have asked Peacelady to price out the project. I would recommend her services to my family and friends and highly recommended her to anyone if you’re looking for a professional, attentive and detailed painter then she is your best choice!

We needed to have the living room painted on short notice before moving in. Victoria was able to adjust her schedule around to work us in for which are truly grateful! She gave us a detailed estimate in a timely manner and included a senior discount! She was very personable and even gave us helpful tips as we were painting other rooms. In the end, we are delighted that Victoria was our painter. She was professional, punctual, called if delayed, was very organized and tidy, and cleaned up after every day. Her work was excellent with attention to detail. The result is beautiful! We are very pleased and heartily recommend her.
Description of Work: Patched, primed, and painted all walls and trim of a large living room with vaulted ceiling going up 2 floors. The walls were paneled and had indentations.

Peacelady is a very intelligent and personable Navy veteran. She has mastered not only painting but many other maintenance skills. Her careful approach to restoring my deck resulted in an excellent result. I have employed several painters in the past but she is the very best!

Painting was excellent. Light carpentry unsatisfactory.
Description of Work: Painted kitchen, living room walls, ceiling, cabinets
Victoria impressed us with her honesty. We asked her for a quote to paint the whole house and she advised us that we only needed to touch up some of the trim. She also agreed to take on an additional job of sealing our basement floor. Her work is excellent and I recommend her highly.
Description of Work: Touched up house trim, power washed deck, applied sealer in basement, and did some light carpentry work.
